Taco Mama - Hillsboro Village

Fun atmosphere. Came here with my son and a bunch of his college friends. It was a great spot for a large group casual dinner. I really enjoyed the thin chips and salsa. The guac could use more flavor but seemed fresh. Skinny margarita was slightly tart but really good! I got two tacos. The classic ground beef hardshell and the steakhouse with soft tortilla. By far and away the basic ground beef taco was the better of the two. It had great seasoning, burst g with satisfying flavor. The gourmet steak taco was a bit flavorless IMO. I'd go back for the margarita, chips and salsa and the ground beef tacos for sure. Lots of other menu items. The line was out the door but moved along at a reasonable pace. Once we ordered and sat down the food came out super fast.

This is really mediocre Mexican food for way too much money. I've gotten their chicken burrito bowl a couple times, but $16 for a small-ish bowl that is mostly filled up with lettuce and rice is honestly unbelievable. The bowl itself really lacks flavor, the chicken is shredded and semi-dry, and the queso is completely flavorless and watery. I've had people around me get their burritos and quesadillas, and while the quesadillas are pretty big and standard, the burritos are on the smaller end and the rest of the plate is just filled up with chips. I understand that prices have to go up, but these prices have become outrageous for the quantity and quality that you get here. I would not recommend coming here. In fact, I'd go to Chipotle a million times before suggesting coming back to Taco Mama.

I wish there was a way to give more than 5 stars because taco mama would get it. The quesadilla is my personal favorite because you can put unlimited toppings. The free chips are a plus too. The pomegranate margarita is to die for. I think about it and salivate all the way over in California. The vibes here are immaculate too. Love the atmosphere and the service is fast and friendly. Overall, sizable portions, affordable and extremely delicious - what more could you ask for?

Overall very tasty quick service , the only thing that was usual is that way you are served it's kinda buffet style in which I'm not really a fan of but everything else was really good from the service to the food. I will be back!

First time visiting. We ordered the Judge burrito basket(this came with chips, salsa and a side), build your own burrito with tofu, kid's nachos with chicken, elote, ancho chile slaw a regular margarita and their new seasonal blood orange margarita. So everything was ok. Nothing special or really fancy to brag about. Everything kinda lacked seasoning and flavor even the margaritas had no flavor or hardly liquor. So the place was pretty busy you order at the register and they bring the food to you. The atmosphere is your normal restaurant . Not sure if I would go back, there was nothing that made me wanna try other items. There's too many taco places to try . I might . The customer service was great and everyone was very nice though.

Taco Mama is a lively and eclectic spot for a fun meal! As soon as we walked in we were met with a long but fast moving line for counter service on a Friday night. We were immediately greeted and had the menu explained to us, which was a nice friendly touch you don't usually get at a quick service restaurant, especially one this busy! We got to the front of the line within 10 minutes, and then got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. I paid $15 for a basket of 2 steak tacos, chips, salsa, and a side of my choosing (I went with the queso). It's not the best value ever, but you can get unlimited toppings and sauces with your meal. If you load up on guac and queso and other things that would be extra at other spots, it all evens out. The chips were thin, crispy and delicious. The tacos and salsa weren't the best I've ever had, but the kind and fast service in this fun atmosphere made everything taste perfect! The Prosecco margarita was so refreshing, and strong. They also have outdoor seating and vegetarian options. Check them out!

We have loved Taco Mama in Tuscaloosa and are so happy there is one in Nashville. Think of Taco Mama as a Moes/Chipotle but with even more food customization options. We love being able to build our own dish with a ton of different options to choose from, and they never skimp. Also they get the food out to you almost immediately after you sit down... freakishly fast service. The food: I built my own tacos with barbacoa, shredded cheddar, grilled onions, avocado, ancho chile slaw, and chipotle bbq sauce.... divine casual food. Their queso and chips is always really warm and tastes like a comfort food. It's mostly college students and the like going here, but I highly recommend Taco Mama for a casual Mexican place, and I'd bet you will be a returning customer after trying it!

Need a spot for Taco and Margs? Look no further! Taco Mama has awesome drinks, great margaritas and you will have a good time. Great food options as well. My favorite is the burrito bowl because it is customizable and you can get a lot with building your own bowl because it is basically unlimited free toppings. I opted to build my own bowl with steak, rice, beans, avocado (no extra charge for avocado/guac, which is rare nowadays!!), lettuce, tomato, onions, corn, cilantro, and cilantro lime vinaigrette. There is a whole list of toppings you can add and sauces you can select, all included in the price of the burrito bowl. The bowl and flavors are light, but yummy. I could see why some people would say the flavor is a bit more bland, but it was fine for me and to me personally, tasted more healthy. They also do "extra chips and salsa" for no extra charge, which was very nice. You order at the counter and then grab a table to sit. It's a very casual spot, but a good spot to meet friends.

Food amazing. Service amazing. Ambiance beautiful. Drinks so good . Watermelon margaritas sooo good and fresh. Prices reasonable. It's the spot to go.

These nachos are flavorless. Please don't waste your time getting them. If you wanna stumble out of this establishment. Get their margaritas, you'll need an Uber home. My friend got a steak burrito and she said the same thing. The service is quick. The ambiance is cool for an after work spot. From what o was told it was packed. Still eat elsewhere and drink here.

Great little place for good and beverages. Some outside seating if desired. Great service even though you order food in line and they bring to your table. They will let you run a tab if you think you want more than one beverage. Great food! Good atmosphere. Fairly loud but fun. I recommend this place for casual dining.

Food was ok. The margaritas were ok. Nothing to write home about. Place you want to go if you're looking to spend the evening.

Cute little place. This a great environment for family and friends. It's a walk up order place and then they bring you your food. I liked it because it offered bar vibes but an environment to actually talk and relax. I got the Mayor tacos and a watermelon margarita. The tacos were great and the salsa was awesome. It was a tad more than what I thought I was going to pay but honestly between tacos and sides I could've split the entree with someone. They close kind of early,9pm so don't expect to spend your night there. Overall I really liked it and I would deff go back.

Here is yet another excuse to go to Hillsboro. There is almost always a line out the door. It seems to be the go-to spot for college students since it is so close to Vanderbilt and Belmont's campuses. The line moves fairly slow but once you get to the front and order the food comes out pretty fast. I tried the chicken quesadilla and added on a side of chipotle BBQ sauce (highly recommend). The quesadilla also came with a side of chips and salsa, sour cream, guac and pico. Although the quesadilla came out quickly, it was already rather cold. It was also a bit plain on its own which is where the BBQ sauce really made a difference! I've also tried their burritos which I remember being very good! I visited on a Friday night so it was pretty crowded and hard to hear. Our group of four ended up sitting at one of the larger community tables in the middle. It was a bit cramped between tables but the staff is very pleasant and cleaned the tables often.

We went here for lunch during the week. They have a variety of options to choose from on their menu. I got the "build your own" burrito bowl and a side of chips and guacamole. The food is filling and tasted great! You seat yourself but the staff is very helpful and attentive by walking around and seeing if you need anything.

I LOVE TACO MAMA. I come here all the time for the Mexican food cravings we all get periodically: the portions are huge while affordable and the food is so so good. I always get the barbacoa quesadilla with cilantro-lime rice inside and guacamole and queso on the side. I always feel very full after eating. There's normally a line around dinner time, especially on Tuesdays, but at least service is super quick. Our food after being seated normally comes within 5 minutes. The filled barbacoa quesadilla always comes with the hefty side of chips and it was $13 including tax. Also, their queso is so good!! The decor inside is pretty cute, but there is not enough seating to accommodate as many people as they get. They have some cute Mexican restaurant signage and real avocados laying around inside!

This is decent Mexican food with a casual fun vibe. Our group combined had the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, a beef quesadilla and a burrito. Everyone was happy with their food but most enjoyed our pitcher of Watermelon Margarita! There's a whole black board advertising a variety of different margaritas, so you will be spoiled for choice if margaritas are your jam! Service is ok. You order at the counter & then they bring food to your table. My husband received the wrong side order twice, but they were quick to try to rectify. This restaurant has both indoor & outdoor seating. On warm evenings it would be nice to sit along the busy side walk and watch everyone come & go. This place is in the Vanderbilt area, so it's convenient if you want/need to be close to the University. The restaurant faces 21st Ave, but parking is located around the corner on Wedgewood Ave.

After seeing instagram videos of this place I really wanted to love it. Who doesn't love a place with a giant margarita menu, right? For all I wanted it to be, it really fell flat. The happy hour 1/2 off margs seemed to have half off the alcohol also sadly. Tasted like a pitcher of lime juice. Chicken in the burrito was decent, white meat chicken (which I love) but pretty flavorless. Barbacoa was also lacking. Chips are thin and crispy, salsa is pretty good. Overall, glad I tried it but no reason to come back ever. Left feeling unsatisfied. Fairly bland cafeteria Mexican food.

Atrocious really. One of those places I wanted to walk out of as soon as I looked at the menu. Unoriginal and too much going on at the same time. The fried fish taco was 2 tiny strips of overlyfried crust. I was shocked when it came out I have never seem anything like it I thought it was some kind of jerkey strip or a dog biscuit. Side of chips and 2 tacos costs 16 bucks. No thanks even at half the price. This is just a college campus hangout that leaves me wanting less. I will say that the guy who works there that hands menus to people because the chalkboard menu is not legible is very sweet and helpful.

Enjoyed our visit to Taco Mama, convenient to Vanderbilt and great atmosphere. As you enter, you wait in line to order. Once you order, you find your table and the food is delivered to you. All chips are refillable as well as salsa too. Enjoyed two beef taco's and salad w/grilled chicken. The Queso was perfect.

Awesome joint! Met my parents here for lunch after their doctors appointments and we really enjoyed our meals! My mom got the fish tacos, dad got some kind of steak tacos, my brother got a burrito, and I got a ahi tuna and barbacoa! We shared a big ol' cup of cheese dip! The salsa was awesome and my kids loved the cheese dip! I was not able to snag any pictures before everyone dug into their food. I guess that's not always a bad thing! Only downfall I think is parking, but I guess that's going to problem all over Nashville so I won't grade them on that! My husband can't wait to try it with us next time!

It's a super busy spot but service was friendly and fast!! Can't ever go wrong with strong margaritas and tasty tacos!!

WOW!! I decided to build my own burrito here and came with a large group. I love that we order before we seat ourselves because we were all able to pay separate and the speed at which the food came out was amazing! I barely sat down and my food was already out! I also tried the pomegranate margarita which was one of the best margaritas I've ever had. If I ever come back to Nashville this is absolutely going to be my food spot

We popped in here the other day and we're pleasantly surprised! The service was quick and the servers working the table were so kind! We enjoyed everything we ordered and would love to come back to order and try new things. We couldn't believe the number of margarita options... 12 I think! And you can get them in a pitcher! So fun!

Taco Mama is a great place for anybody craving a solid taco. Taco Mama has amazing tacos and drinks, both at affordable prices. The kids' meals have good portions, and the chips and salsa are heavenly. A great pick for anybody aching for Mexican cuisine.

This is the social place to go even if you're alone and/ or not feeling very social. It's so busy with customers, you can hear animated conversations at every table around you. Lots of great energy in this place! The food was good but not great. Although my dining partner had a tuna quesadilla and he said it was five stars. My burrito was under seasoned for sure, but the ingredients were fresh. That's not nothing. You've just got to love this place for what it is - clean, fun, lively, huge portions, and great service.

I love Taco Mama. For the price, you really do get a lot. Normally I get a burrito and I feel like they always fill it up, but this time I switched it up and got tacos with steak. They only put 2 pieces of steak in one of my tacos, which I don't feel like was enough. It was still really good though. I always get queso as my side because it's my favorite thing from them!

I come to Taco Mama often for lunch due to them being close to work, having many options and being reasonably priced. I have found that they give you a lot food for the price, and sometimes it's even enough for two meals. In particular I really like the build-your-own options, and they have a ton of options including vegetarian topping choices such as tofu and a surprisingly delicious veggie mix. On average I go here once every week. The only major downside is that sometimes their portion sizes can be a little variable. At times you get a small bowl full that will leave you a little hungry. But this also works the other way...occasionally you may leave with a massive portion that will feed you for a full day. Personally I will continue to roll those dice.

I really liked this place! The customer service was great, super friendly and nice. I liked the lighting inside as well. The tacos were pretty good, although I probably would've gotten a burrito bowl or quesadilla instead. The queso is delicious!

Third stop on our taco crawl. Uh, I love it here. I loved the different menu and all the options. All of the margs sounded delicious. Prices were great, taste was good, and the vibe was on point. This place stays packed and I can see why. I'm already deciding on what I'll get next time. We split a taco basket and were not disappointed. Two Chicken tacos, chips, salsa and queso (as our side). I ordered the blood orange margarita. Was very good as well. Can't wait to go back.

Visited before a game at Vandy, on a whim, and now I'll be going back more often. Super fresh food. Love the multiple options to build your own. I went with nachos and mine were so yummy. A very large portion, too. Super flavorful and tart pomegranate marg is a must. Will be back

Taco Mama is SO SO SO GOOD! I love the options and the wide variety of toppings and lots of drink options! Everything I have ever had is so good and I can't wait to come back! The place is bright and everyone is friendly!

The food was pretty decent. I really appreciated their friendly and fast service, and tables that seat 8. It was perfect for what we were looking for, but I wouldn't choose this for a date.

Tacos are bad. The place is way too small. If you want good tacos, I recommend SATCO- it's just down the street.

The food from Taco Mama was like something a kid would make if you told them to make Mexican food and they had only seen pictures of it. The tacos were bland. I ate the second simply to get it off my plate. The corn was not notable and the beans were bland as well. Even the queso was sub par - runny and no taste. I want my money and Friday night dinner back. The slaw was the only thing that was really good. We will never eat here again.

Uneventful. Uninspired. Overhyped. Weird. Nasty. The chips were bad. The burrito was soggy and mushy. The guacamole needed salt. Don't get me started on the "Street Corn" more like canned corn. Honestly, I think I could make better Mexican food. Please go to Oscars

Came for happy hour yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised! The weather was nice we ordered at the counter and sat outside with our drinks to wait on food. I had the build your own quesadilla with grilled flounder, black beans, grilled jalapeños, roasted corn and a few more items. I eat mostly pescatarian so I was glad to see there were plenty non-land-animal protein options. All their toppings are free also - including 'premium' toppings like guacamole and queso. This is rare and definitely a big deal. The quesadilla was fantastic, it was too large to eat in one sitting, but I'm the Queen of Leftovers so that wasn't an issue. You also get free chips, salsa, sour cream and guacamole with your entree. I love free food, especially when it's good. My skinny margarita was good, decently strong but not the best flavor-wise, but was it still drinkable? Yup! All in all, this is a definite must check out if you love tacos and such and especially if you love to pile your food high with toppings. Good prices and waitstaff.

Popular taco spot in Hillsboro village that is a consistently solid place to grab a meal. A variety of pre-set menu options and also build your own options as well for tacos, burritos and quesadilla. Order at the counter and they'll bring the food out to you. Margs are strong and are half off during happy hour. I think their chips are the best part! For gluten free options- they have an off the menu grilled chicken that they can substitute in for you! It can get quite busy during Friday and Saturdays so be prepared to wait.

My friends and I always enjoy eating at Taco Mama. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is nice, and the workers are super friendly! Definitely an easy go-to restaurant if you are having trouble deciding what to eat

When you walk in you're immersed in a amazing color scheme of yellow, red, orange which get your senses all hyped up. Then you've got the tip exciting music in the background to get you excited and get your taste buds energized. The pictures of Margaritas get your first question so that when you're ready to eat your gastronomic urges are ready to devour the tasty food. I had the queue but burrito which was really delicious. It was pork. Yummy. I was amazed at the different types of toppings, burritos, and tacos with fish and pork and beef and chicken and shrimp totally amazing variety of burritos and tacos. The service was very fast. And because we're in Covid 19 era all of the service had masks and gloves on which is very comforting. If you're looking for fast good Mexican food I would definitely suggest this place.

The food is excellent, but the service is horrendous and has been this way for multiple visits. It is a very busy place, presumably because it is good, but I cannot justify waiting in an hour long line, when there are maybe 20 people in front of me. At all times, there are at least 2-3 employees who are just standing around or goofing off. Meanwhile, there are two registers, only one which is used. Is there any reason why one of the employees can't help take orders? Even if one is working the bar, they could easily jump on the second register when they don't have drinks to make. The employees are super kind and friendly, but it is so frustrating watching them no nothing when the line is out the door. Also offering online ordering like it says on the menu would be SO helpful for those that take it to-go

Quick service during a busy lunch hour in Hillsboro Village. It's not your authentic "taco" but you get your craving hit when you fancy a taco/burrito/nacho plate that isn't Chipotle. lol it's pretty simple on how to order and you get plenty of food to fill you up. It's casual but everyone is attentive and friendly. I'll be back to try other stuff but I feel the burritos could be a little less mushy. It doesn't seem to stack well when you're eating it. Some like it like that but I saw myself grabbing a fork to eat with it.
