The Eater Margarita Map: Where to Drink Margaritas in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"This colorful modern Mexican taqueria and bar, now located in Germantown, also has a spacious patio. Try El Camino, made with gold tequila, triple sec, homemade sweet and sour, orange, agave and flaked ice, or El Diablo, made with mezcal, Ancho Reyes, Cointreau, lime, orange, jalapeno, and agave. Pair your margarita with one of Mama’s O.G. mix-and-match tacos and a side of creamy Mexican street corn. On Wednesday nights, the bar also slings $6 margaritas." - Bailee Mulder

Best Mexican Restaurants in Nashville, Tennessee | Eater Nashville

"You’ll find Taco Mamacita’s stellar margaritas and vegan tortilla soup in Germantown as well as in Chattanooga, where the restaurant started (it’s a sibling to that city’s essential Community Pie pizzeria). Along with enchiladas suiza, shredded chicken topped with mole roja, and a selection of sides that includes Mexican street corn and charros beans, the busy restaurant offers trendy decor and an exclusively vegan menu upon request." - Clara Wang

Google
Service was great, my server had a trainee and they were both very pleasant and knowledgeable. Cocktails were good and after trying quite a few taco places around Nashville, these were in my top favorites! Interesting layout and fun vibes.

Google
Highly recommend this cute little place near Germantiwn right outside of downtown Nashville. The Royal double was just that! So good and the salsa! Wish they bottled that stuff for sale. We will definitely be going back next time in Nashville.

Google
This place doesn't disappoint. Customer service is top-notch. Every time I've gone in to order food, it's a smiling and friendly face who is happy to serve. This place above and beyond imo. Okay, now for the food. I've eaten the chicken tinga bowl and regular chicken bowl. Both were hot and fresh with ingredients that were just as fresh. Price is a lot cheaper than the competition chain spots but you wouldn't think so with the taste. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!!!!! Edit: The picture on the bag is also hand drawn and I'm sorry but I forgot the gentleman's name who drew it. Special s/o to him!!!!!!

Google
Quite possibly the best tacos & Mexican food in Nashville. I arrived a little close to closing time but everything was still incredibly delicious & the service was impeccable. Can’t wait to visit again! 🧑‍🍳🌮🤤

Google
Taco Mamacita was a great find! The Chicken Tinga Bowl was amazing—full of flavor and perfectly done. The prices were very reasonable, and the whole place had a fun, relaxed vibe. Definitely worth coming back!

Google
the food was good despite them not having “peruvian chicken” whatever that is as our waitress kept referring to it. cleo became very frazzled and irritated as i asked her if the kitchen was out of chicken completely as if they couldn’t make the grilled chicken with the peruvian sauces instead of the rotisserie chicken it is usually served with. as someone who has lived in peru, it showed the lack of cultural competence amongst staff and wasn’t very accommodating. also this isn’t a lgbtq friendly establishment. my girlfriend and i came after the pride festival and were met with unwelcoming stares from staff here. although the food and drinks were good, it wasn’t a great first experience at this restaurant due to staff and push back when seeking accommodations when ordering.

Google
I love that taco mamacita relocated to Germantown! It’s such a great spot to grab tacos to go or dine in for a quick bite. The bar is a cool area - especially in the warmer months when it extends to the outside patio. All of their food is pretty good, but my favorite is he’ll getting the sloppy jose as a taco bowl over rice (all bowls have a lettuce base as the standard, but I recommend adding rice to it)! I also enjoy all of the drinks on the menu and the queso!

Google
We came for lunch on the weekend and enjoyed our visit. To start, we ordered the trio (pineapple habenero salsa, mango salsa, and guacamole). The waitress said the habenero salsa was spicy and we were looking forward to the heat but it had none, no spice at all. All were good though! For entrees, we tried several different tacos, one of the salads (mexican chop salad), and plantains. The tacos were pretty good but not wildly better than other taco spots nearby. The sloppy jose was the best! Only complaint is that we ordered the enchilada tacos but the waitress brought a full enchilada entrees. Otherwise service and atmosphere were great.

Yelp
Open, bright, creative spacing. Fun to watch the kitchen cook. Daily simple menu with brunch tacos, regular tacos, burritos. Brunch tacos include the usual bacon, eggs, cheese, migas, avocados, ham. Breakfast burritos are similar, but also include potatoes, veggie chorizo, shredded beef, tots. Tacos include pollo, carne asada, al pastor, chicken tinga, shrimp, vegan chorizo. They also come in variations like taco Royale (queso, roasted chicken, salsa verde, lettuce, pico, chores, chipotle), fish, black bean, barrio, and sloppy Jose (sloppy joes). At the recommendation of my server, I had the fish, taco Royale, and birria (barbacoa). The fish taco was super spicy, with a lot of pepper slices. Taco Royale is probably a a crowd favorite, but was pretty bland for me. I did like the crisp of the additional hard shell taco though. And birria was "okay." Large portion sizes and very filling, and again, the fish taco was super spicy. The sauce they served alongside was dynamite. But the meat itself was not super seasoned or overly moist. Price was in the 5-6 dollar range, so pretty reasonable. They have multiple types of margaritas. I had the authentico, made with tequila blanco, cointreau, lime, and agave. Again, middle of the road, but not bad. Service was excellent. Not only my server checked in on me, but everyone else too. Very welcoming, inviting. In a germantown neighborhood in walking distance of many cute shops and other restaurants.

Yelp
Great tacos and so many options. The service is always fast and friendly. So glad to have this in the Germantown neighborhood. They have so many types of tacos, salads and burritos, you really can't go wrong. I'm obsessed with their queso with chorizo. They have tons of indoor seating and a big outdoor patio with heaters. Perfect place to eat if you have your dog in tow!

Yelp
The biggest downfall was that the enchiladas were cold, very cold. No semblance of heat in them. Lukewarm enchiladas and tacos are not the best. The others in my party also said their food was cold. The food was rather bland, and a very American take on tacos. Our server was fine, however it seemed that she's probably newer at serving. We had to remind her to take our order amd bring water for the late comers in our group. Also, they advertised "2 for 1 margaritas!" Which were actually 2 shots in 1 margaritas for the price of a normal margarita-- very misleading. The decor was cute, but would probably be loud if it was packed due to the openness and higher ceilings.

Yelp
The salsa is a no from me! Watery and underwhelming. And the servers are not attentive or particularly welcoming, but I still keep coming back for the chicken bowl and the guacamole. The portions are large and reasonably priced. A good experience overall despite its shortcomings.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Skip the chips and salsa and go straight for the main dishes--they're the real star here. My two tacos were amazing! The shrimp and steak were cooked perfectly, super flavorful, and the toppings were fresh and went perfectly with both proteins. I also ordered a side of rice, which was pretty bland though. Honestly, it's kind of wild that they charge for salsa when it's mostly water and barely has any flavor. Both the salsa verde and the regular salsa were disappointing--the verde had no spice at all. The guac was also super watery. The queso was good, but more expensive than other places nearby that serve you more for a smaller price. The vibe of the place is really nice, though. The inside and outside of the restaurant are bright, colorful, and full of fun lighting. Service was solid--lots of check-ins--and our food came out pretty quickly. Overall, it was a good experience, but nothing that blew me away.

Yelp
This is my 2nd time dining at Taco Mamacita! In between my first time dining until now, I have only done take out. 12/10 takeout: I mean I have never been to a place that takes the time to draw on the bag snd personalize it to each customer! Our service was great, we also ordered the mango salsa to try something new and it was delicious! They did have vegetarian and vegan options which was very nice! We are excited to keep coming back!

Yelp
First timer to this joint.. went on a Tuesday night and the place was empty so staff was very attentive... but parking kinda sux.. there is a paid parking lot which some other friends parked at and unfortunately they over stayed there limit and got tickets.. food was good we did a sampler and enjoyed the guac and queso.. neither were spicy.. the salsa had a little kick for me so I didn't like it.. I then got the chicken tortilla soup with a side of rice.. this was a unique and fun way to serve it as my ingredients came in a bowl and I could pour the broth in.. I added the rice into the soup and squeezed the lime into the soup... I have been looking for a good soup since I moved here and this was it for me.. I def will go back for the soup

Yelp
TLDR: new menu looks good, the atmosphere is always great and the outdoor seating is bright and airy. Queso and chips were fine. Taco salad was delicious and will help hit your macros. Price is Nashville normal (i.e. more expensive than I want but it is what it is). We've been here before and will definitely be back. Wife and I stopped by for a weekday lunch and were seated immediately. It was pretty quiet and we decided to sit outside, which wasn't too cold with the heater on. Server was new but friendly and our app (chips and queso) and diet cokes came out super quick (and she kept refilling our drinks as soon as we were running out). We both went with the keto taco salads to try them out. A little pricey but comes with half a lb of meat over a romaine base, with pico, radish, cheese, and avocados. Carne asada was super flavorful and the salad was filling. The pollo asada was more disappointing (thankfully I got the carne and my wife got the pollo). My wife also wanted to try the Sloppy Jose, which just wasn't for us; it was too sweet.

Yelp
Taquitos are really good also the strawberry margarita! Perfect place to eat something Mexican food!

Yelp
Good food and even better margaritas. Great service. Thanks to Gray. Very cool vibe with outdoor patio and tvs for football games.

Yelp
Visiting Nashville for work and really wanted so some soup. I tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup with the Shrimp Po Boy taco. The soup was good, the presentation was nice where you pour the broth separately. The taco was ok I'm not a big fan of the fusion taco thing I like good ole meat, onion and cilantro on a corn tortilla. Which they do have but it doesn't come with the soup + taco option. I can around 2pm on a Monday which was pretty slow. We were immediately sat and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. It's an aesthetically pleasing space. Very trendy, bright, colorful atmosphere. As im only in Nashville for work I probably wouldn't come back anytime soon. But it's cute.

Yelp
My experience is from TOGO. Ordered online and it was smooth process, the site was easy to navigate and did offer Apple Pay which is the best! Walked in and was immediately greeted by a staff member who got my name to check on order. The space is very open with a lot of seating, based in what I saw it would be good for larger parties. Also has patio seating options. I ordered the Sloppy Nachos and Mexican Corn Sloppy Nachos 6/10 I wasn't a huge fan because there was something that made the seasoned meat VERY sweet. I think if it wasn't so sweet I would enjoy it better. Mexican Corn was 9/10 very good the size was small but I really enjoyed it. I will be back up try other options.

Yelp
Great spot! A little different than your normal Mexican restaurant. I got the Peruvian roasted chicken with sweet potato fries and plantains. Everything was delicious and the chicken came with some great sauces. Awesome atmosphere with an inside/outside bar. My only knock was the service at the outside bar. Forgot 1 of our sides, never got refills, small things like that. Food was so good I'd still recommend trying them out.

Yelp
Went for lunch. Huge place with plenty of seating and a large patio. Good chips & salsa, solid breakfast tacos, & attentive service. Would like to come back in the evening or on the weekend for drinks and a more festive atmosphere.

Yelp
Excellent service. Very comfortable seats. My dad had the carne asada taco and said it was the best he's ever had. I have an avacado allergy and they were so accomadatin

Yelp
I was interested to see what Mexican food was like in Nashville, coming from California my standards are fairly high. The location was very cute, ample seating and very modern. Our server Alex was extremely attentive and nice! Provided suggestions and made my friends birthday special, got everyone to sing for her! As for the food... maybe my taco selections weren't the best. The birria was lacking meat and not very flavorful. The fish taco was more like a fish stick... very disappointed. The best thing on my plate was the esquite side! So tasty! Also, the mamas hot sauce on the table was AMAZING! I would buy some for my home if I could.

Yelp
Taco royale was delic! Recommend the mango and red salsa. Also mojito was percent and refreshing

Yelp
Taco Mamcita's former location was one of my go-to spots for Tex Mex fare. I was very sad when they closed and ecstatic to hear that they reopened. I started with the skinny margarita which was good but had a fairly strong chemical aftertaste, which is uncommon compared to other skinny margaritas I've had at other restaurants. Regardless, it was still good (and I ordered two). For an appetizer, we started with a trio of salsas (fire roasted, fresh mango and diablo). As someone who likes super spicy foods, the diablo was my favorite. However, I appreciated how fresh and flavorful the other two were. We also ordered the white queso, which was delicious -- the perfect combination of rich and creaminess. Moving on to the entree, I ordered the two tacos and a side combo. I'm a vegetarian, so I selected the avocado and black bean tacos. Both were very good. The avocado taco packed a punch with the chipotle honey hot sauce, but it was offset by the cool avocado slices. Those two flavors were elevated by the pico, pickled red onion, and the jalapeno lime aioli. The black bean taco was also delicious. The crispy black bean veggie patty was cut into slices which made for an easier to eat taco. It was supported by avocado, pico, salsa verde, jalapeno lime aioli, feta cheese and cilantro. Those all combined to make a divine taste profile. I don't know which of the two I liked more. I chose the Mexican street corn for my side and it was incredible -- creamy, tangy and packed with flavor. I could have eaten an entire bowl. The service was great, and I really liked the ambiance of the new location. I'm so glad it's back. I look forward to many more visits in the future.

Yelp
Food was very delicious! I recommend the tacos. All of them. Service was excellent! Patience was our hostess and server and set us up right away. Open air atmosphere and the have our door seating too! Brunch or happy hour ! A must in Nashville!
google avatar

Conroy D.

Yelp
The service was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food. We ordered Chips & Queso and added chorizo, which was excellent. Three of us split this comfortably, and since it was filling enough, I went with the Tacos Authenticos meal. Both were good, but I think the Barbacoa was far superior compared to Mezcal Shrimp. The street corn was also pretty good. Overall: it was a good experience and I would go back if we visit Germantown again. Nothing over-the-top incredible, but a solid taco spot in a very walkable part of Nashville. The server was also very knowledgeable about allergies, and it was very gluten free-friendly
google avatar

Yelp
I was looking for a place for dinner during a work trip to Nashville, this place popped up as close to my hotel and I love tacos, so I made my way over. It was packed! Which you love to see, I was lucky to slide up to the bar. I had a delicious avocado jalapeño margarita, a ranch water which is topo Chico tequila and lime. I had the pineapple habanero salsa, the Nashville hot chicken and avocado taco, everything was delicious! I had a great time and would come back here if I'm in the area again. A fun modern twist on Mexican!
google avatar

Nicholas R.

Yelp
I was excited to try tacos in Germantown. Everything in Germantown is delicious - right? Wrong. The tacos themselves were pretty bland, almost as if the seasoning had gone on vacation. There was zero flavor in the meat, and the tortilla was just... there. At least there was lots of cheese. And the salsa? Don't even get me started. It was supposed to be the saving grace, but it was more like a watery, tasteless tomato slurry. No heat, no zest, just a letdown in a bowl. I expected at least some kind of kick or tang to liven up the tacos, but it was a complete miss. Overall, if you're looking for tacos with some actual flavor, this isn't the place. Save your money for somewhere that knows how to spice things up.
google avatar

Victoria L.

Yelp
Taco mamacita is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants that feel healthier and cleaner! I always get the Peruvian chicken with sweet potatoes and plantains. You get a lot of food for the price and the sauces are the best!
google avatar

Julia R.

Yelp
We loveeee the Peruvian roasted chicken and the avocado margarita!! The location has plenty of free parking and the service is always excellent. We had Bianca was a great server and we will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Such great food and great value for quality! Our server Kyle was such a great vibe, we're here on a bachelorette trip and she immediately offered to take a pic of us! 10/10 recommend this spot!
google avatar

Tori F.

Yelp
Good food and drinks! The birria tacos were great and I liked having the choice of two sides. The rice was a little dry but a little hot sauce did the trick. Lots of options to choose from on the menu and definitely innovative for taco offerings. The service was a little slow for a Thursday night but we weren't in any rush.
google avatar

Victoria E.

Yelp
You have to try the Korean BBQ tacos! They are packed with flavor and incredibly satisfying. I also ordered the black bean taco, which was tasty, but the Korean BBQ tacos stole the show. The staff here is friendly. The interior is tastefully decorated and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience and can't wait to come back for more Korean BBQ tacos!
google avatar

Doug E.

Yelp
TM keeps getting better each time we go. Interestingly enough, my favorite taco on the menu is the Tacos Authenticos . Keeping it simple. We order the Chips & Queso and Guacamole each time we go. The Queso is awesome! The guac is good, but I need a little more flavor (could just be a personal preference!). The outdoor bar area is a great vibe, especially now that the weather has warmed up again, and the staff is always friendly and helpful! Worth a shot for sure!
google avatar

Carolyn C.

Yelp
Delicious! My husband and I tried several different tacos and enjoyed them all! We especially liked the "birria taco" that you dunk into a bowl of flavorful beef broth. Our service was friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Savanna B.

Yelp
Cute and very clean dining area. The chips and dips trio we started with were good as we're the tacos. The shrimp fajitas were pretty meh. The margaritas were a good mix of strong and tasty. Anita was so nice that she made the experience for us.
google avatar

Mia S.

Yelp
Taco Mamacita is always an easy Lunch option! It's certainly not my first choice for tacos, but it's decent. Favorite Dishes: Sweet Potato Fries, Queso, Black Bean Taco
google avatar

Hannah S.

Yelp
First time visiting Nashville, and stumbled across this place on a walk. I only ordered one drink and a side, but Cam and Avery behind the bar were extremely attentive, friendly, and made my experience great! This restaurant is a whole vibe. Travelers from out of the area who find themselves in Nashville: head on over to the Germantown neighborhood and get some food and drinks!
google avatar

Johnny N.

Yelp
The tacos are incredible. I'd recommend eating without the consume (Mexican aujus basicly). They are savory enough without it for me and the sauces are so flavorful it can be too much... but that's me. I betcha half the folks would say different. The owner is in the kitchen most all the time. She's so sweet and really gives a sht about her product and customers. I believe ahe honed her culinary skills in NYC. Feel really good about supporting this business. Delicious, unique flavors in an uplifting environment served by a special owner and crew.
google avatar

Candice S.

Yelp
Nice restaurant in the heart of Germantown. We were warmly greeted and seated quickly. The atmosphere is inviting and vibrant. Fish taco was too spicy for my liking. Chicken Tinga was very good. For the soup you pour the broth into your bowl.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
In my opinion the sign of a good Mexican restaurant is a good margarita and Taco Mamacita did not disappoint. At the recommendation of our waiter I had the strawberry margarita and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was tasty too, we tried the queso, it was not too spicy and the chicken quesadilla was yummy! We got there about 5pm for an early dinner but the restaurant was filling up quickly. This is a perfect place to grab food before the Sounds Game and is super close and walkable to everything in Germantown. Also the bathrooms were very nice and clean, which is always appreciated.

Michael M.

Yelp
Amazing food. Bartenders Kate and Owen were very welcoming, helpful, and fun. The Al Pastor is very solid. We moved from San Diego and this place's food holds up
google avatar

Meki A.

Yelp
First time being at the new location. Love Germantown. Definitely being your patience because finding street parking is not for the week on a Saturday evening. There are some paid lots close as well. Our waitress Katlyn was very attentive. The place was pretty busy but she kept making sure we were good. The food came out super quick, I also ordered a skinny margarita, it was very good. My husband's a vegan and enjoyed his meal, he mentioned he would have preferred at little more beans and corn on his nachos, other than that he says it was good. He also ordered a side sweet potato fries I ordered the birria tacos and I want disappointed, it was very flavorful. I was sad when it was gone. I will definitely be back. The inside is very different than the old location. New location is brighter. Feels like a totally different experience, one not better than the other.
google avatar

Jonathon N.

Yelp
I ordered the Pozole and was impressed. To maintain freshness, they bring the soup out deconstructed. This allows you to choose which ingredients will be included before you add the broth. The restaurant is spacious and has a great outdoor seating area. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about food allergies
google avatar

Nate M.

Yelp
I love the ambience the cocktails here are delicious and the food is really good too. When I call this authentic Mexican, not really but you can't deny tasty food. One of my favorite snacks of all time are chips and salsa. So I definitely had to order this for the table. The salsa was super fresh and not too spicy. Really just a tasty bowl of tomatoey flavor. I also ordered two street Carnitas tacos and a spicy margarita. The Carnitas tacos were good. I really enjoyed the tender pork and crunchy fresh onion on top, but within the first bite the tortillas disintegrated and ate the rest of my tacos with a fork. The side of elote was not my fave. Too much juice. I do like the vibe of this place and could see myself eating at the bar on my next visit!

Yelp
So ... I really wanted to love the GTown Mamacita but it misses on so many levels (group table consensus) - and this is after taking a "new restaurant" opening learning curve into consideration. A 1.5* overall. We will not be back - I try to be an honest rater and this was just not good or worth it given other options. * ++ service ... this was a positive as all the staff was really trying hard to provide good service. The timing of the food and drink was way off - food came first, drinks 15 minutes later after multiple requests/ but no knocks to staff as it is week one and while frazzled they were hustling to calm the caos. * -- Why they didn't do a soft opening - not sure but the disorganization showed. Soft openings seem to be best practice but what do I know ?? * -- food. Not a new restaurant given other locations but the food was not good Tex Mex or Mexican. Our table of 4 ordered everything from hot tacos to Birra to Taco Royal to Shrimp to Fish. Chips and multi salsa. Just not worth the extra price you normally see - hot not hot, flavors flat. Shrimp taco was tasty. Honestly the free "mamas sauce" in the squeeze bottle was best flavor. * - drinks: no beer yet so no issue cuz just opened. Margaritas $10 crushed ice to top = no ice 3oz margarita. Dissatisfied. * - ambiance. They took lots of time re building the historic fish Mkt. Inside was bright and "cold" - both mental and physical. We sat at front table that was pretty much in waiting area and freezing from open door. The porch out back looks nice for warm days tbd. Best of luck to TM in Germantown.

Yelp
Came in on their one year anniversary, so they were offering specials like drink discounts which was fun! Vibe inside the restaurant is cool and plenty of space so we did not have a wait to be seated. Started out with chips and guac, it was fresh which is always a win (no jalapeño though so if you like some spice in your guac it will be mild). Really like how they had combo meals like one taco + a salad which is what we ordered. Cali cobb taco was delicious, but a lot of extra water came out of the taco and saturated the tortilla. Chopped salad was good but not amazing, honey vinaigrette was really light and refreshing. Overall good food and creative menu choices! Would def come back to try more of the specialty menu items.

Yelp
10/10 nachos! My good friend ;) and I come here for the nachos but there are plenty of other good eats on the menu. The fried plantains are yummy and I remember the vegetarian tacos being good. Very open interior with a welcoming atmosphere and an option of outside dining.

Yelp
Our server Sarah did the absolute best job. Highly recommend this place! The tacos were also super tasty and Mary's were unbeatable.

Emily S.

Yelp
Love this place! Sarah is the best server, we had the best time. So fun and great vibes
google avatar

Brandon D.

Yelp
This is not your traditional taco place. It's a fiesta of taco fusion! If you have a craving for something and you want it wrapped delicately in a tortilla, then you have to sit down at this place. The place feels like you're in ghost restaurant on the 5th floor of a Brooklyn building, but the decor flourishes your appetite. Service was solid and our server was very personal on what tacos and dishes to get. 3 words to sum up this place. Unorthodox, gem, delicious.

Yelp
Great chorizo queso to start. I'm pregnant so couldn't try the margs, but hear they are great! I tried the quesalada carnitas and was very happy! My friends had the quasalada rancheros and Peruvian chicken and they loved their meals! We all had left overs as portions are large, especially if you have a starter!

Fidencio R.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere was great... definitely going back again for the Tacos ..also in fun talking with the bartenders ..
google avatar

Macy B.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this restaurant! The chorizo dip was really good! I wish it came with a bigger bowl, haha! I will say that I wish it did come out a bit warmer. I also ended up getting the Cali Club and it was SO good! I just wish the dressing was a bit less it only because made it a bit soupy. The setting was super cute! Very much family restaurant by day and a cute bar and dinner for the evening! Service was nice as well.
