Stopped in today on our way home -because damn it's wet and cold!- and we were hunnngry. What luck! Fresh (meaning 'warm'-yay!) chips and three salsas served when you sit down, all delicious. My husband ordered taco dinner with three different tacos. Served with cilantro and chopped onion, yellow rice, and beans. I ordered a torta (sandwich) with milanesa de pollo (breaded chicken) and a side of fries. The plates were bright and well presented, the food was hot, and there were some great surprises - cucumber slices and fresh lime on my husband's plate, delicious toasted bun on my torta and the chicken was thick-cut and juicy. Portions were generous - my husband had to work to finish his tacos and I barely finished half of the sandwich (and I can eat!). The fact that five hours later I'm still full should tell you something. We always judge a place by their salsa verde (two here, one molcajete style and one stewed) and their beans (refried is what we tried), so that's why they don't get max stars from me yet: the beans and the verdes were good, no doubt, but not life-changing. *However*, the rice was surprisingly tasty as a side, and the third salsa, which I'm guessing was arbol, was damn good and interesting. The horchata wasn't the real deal, so it was a little sweet, but if that's the one complaint I could muster, and it is, this is definitely a place worth revisiting again and again. Kid-friendly, nice big bathroom, clean and easy to access, parking on the street right in front, OK for small groups, couples, singles. Next time - cochinita pibil! I'm so excited!
