"Aside from being a solid setup for 24 games of tic-tac-toe, the crosshatch griddle marks on Taco Max’s burrito ensures prime crispiness. And this Albany Park burrito takes structural integrity seriously—it even enlists a duo of toothpicks for additional reinforcement. There’s a clear division between the sections of crispy charred meat and the layer of sour cream and vegetables, so plan a precise angle of attack to get it all in one chomp. Even a little jaw stretching will go a long way to help the flavors and textures come together in the ideal burrito bite." - john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen, adrian kane

"A neon “Love At First Bite” sign hangs above some tables at this casual spot. But unlike other restaurants that seem designed for photo ops, you might actually fall in love with the Mexican dishes at Taco Max. Their well-seasoned and nicely charred meats like al pastor and arrachera taste great whether loaded into tacos or chunky burritos. And their breakfast torta—with scrambled eggs, chorizo, and bean spread sandwiched between pillowy telera bread—is something we’d like to wake up next to every morning. " - john ringor, adrian kane

Wonderful and authentic taqueria, great service, and delicious salsas available at their salsa bar. Highly recommend!! The restaurant is always very clean and it feels that everyone working here takes pride in the quality.

I eat here 2 or 3 times a week for lunch, everyone here is super friendly, my go to is the tripas tacos and tongue. Amazing food, highly recommended this spot to everyone!

Google
$22 for 3 briaa tacos and horchata. Absolutely insane. No wonder nobody is ever in their drive thru. And $5 for al a cart cheese enchlada (not bad) except almost no sauce and extremly small. Never again. O, don't forget how ghetto it is not ordering at menu, have to pull forward. Cashier types on the phone for prices. Never again, lol. This place will be closed in a year or so. Ridiculous.

Google
We had breakfast burritos and fish taco, food was good. All the salsas we tried were good too. It was our first time trying agua Fresca we had melon and it was refreshing.

This is some of the best mexican food I've found in Denver. Its not overly spicy and there are extra toppings for you to grab to add to your dish. Reasonable prices. Steak enchilada is pictured.

Google
Come for the champurrado! ☕ I love their posole and street tacos. Cheaper than some other taco spots and just as good if not better. Always expect to wait for your food because they make it when you order - always hot and fresh!

Google
Drove to this place after reading some reviews for breakfasts burritos. The ordering speaker is broken, so they do ask you to order at the window. Do yourself a favor and look at the menu ahead of time before you drive there. The lady who greeted me at the window was very nice. I ordered a ham breakfast burrito and a chorizo breakfast burrito. She asked if I wanted both salsas on the side. I asked "red and green?" she nodded. So it is not pork green chili like you order on smothered burritos. It's a handheld burrito which is exactly what I was looking for. She helped me when the chip reader was having trouble reading my chip. I can see how some people may think they need to order in Spanish at this location and its mentioned in a lot of other reviews of other places I go to for burritos and menudo, but that's certainly not the case in most places I've been to and wasn't the case here. I asked her about the elote in a cup and she said it "served all day but only in a cup." I'll have to come back and try it. She did have me pull around and wait which I know another review said defeats the purpose of a drive-through. But I really appreciate that my burritos came out very hot and fresh. The one thing that I thought was really unique about this location is that they wrap their burritos in some thin cooking paper and THEN they wrap it in foil, so it was not dry at all. It kept all the heat in and i could still see grill marks on the tortilla which was also soft and had a steamed texture. Maybe you can tell they probably probably prep them ahead of time, but I appreciate the grilled tortilla.. They might just be making them to order too, so you get the tortilla right off the grill which makes it worth the wait. I really appreciate that they use potatoes and not French fries like some other places. The eggs and the cheese certainly made the inside of the burrito squishy and not dry. They used sliced ham, but it is not sliced thin and it was still very flavourful and the the chorizo was cooked to perfection. ❤️ Very flavourful I did not need to use the sauces. The green sauce was very flavourful as well, albeit a little sour or vinegary which happens per batch (I couldn't tell if it was jarred or not I've tasted some with more fresh cilantro in them) and the red salsa was super hot, but also very flavourful. I think I can tell they might be using a little bit of fresh chili in that one. I would love to come back and try the other dishes as well as the daily fresh agua fresca and some of the desserts and the corn, but I think just sit down in the lobby. I'm excited to come back and see what else they have going on and I noticed that some of their pictures were very out of date, so I added two new pictures. They also are one of the only places to serve menudo (or pozole as another review said) every single day. Some places only serve it on the weekends since it takes so long to make.

Yelp
Ordered online from their website to go. Was told upon arrival they don't use that service anymore. Very confusing. Had to order and wait, cutting down my available lunch break time. Had to rush back to make it within the allotted break. Food was hot and fresh. The green chili was tasteless. The chile cheese fries, at 9 dollars, were, in general, almost as tasteless. The green chili was bland. The pork appeared spiceless. Fries were fries. I had to ensure I could taste by drinking a sip of coffee. Yes I had taste. Only the chile cheese fries didn't have flavor. When adding the provided hot sauce the dish literally perked and spiced up. The carnitas tacos were small. Lots of onions. The tomatillo sauce was good. Overall I was disappointed. The menu is extensive and I will return to try something else. I just can't get over how bland the green chili was. Check them out if in the area. Call and order ahead so there is no wait. Don't order from the website. It doesn't work.

Yelp
I will say I love this place when they get the order right. Today my chilaquiles were in green sauce rather than red, I asked for no eggs and it was riddled with scrambled eggs so I could not eat it myself. But for those who could they did say it was delicious. They missed they cilantro and onions i asked for, in replacement of no eggs. I basically recorded an entire order that wasn't what I ordered. The food was great but for those who could eat it but it was exactly what I didn't ask for. lol. I'll still order here again because when they do get the order right, it's def tasty and delicious. They just need to pay attention to the details for delivery orders. I ordered through grub hub

Yelp
This is my go to spot on a snowy day or when I'm not feeling well or when I need a quick eat on the go! This location also has a bonus because there is a drive-through, outdoor seating, and always lots of parking in the lot. It's located near a Carl's Jr./Walgreens at Chambers and Iliff. My go to items at this location are the pozole, albondigas soup, tacos, elote and the tortas. I often stop by for the meatball soup with one or two tacos on the side. When you order the soup you have the choice of tortillas or bread, but I always choose the bread because I just love bread! I also often order pozole on the weekends or when it's really cold out. I always order pozole at different restaurants and I like taco Mex the most. The service is always really friendly. We recently went on February 2, 2022 and their wifi was down. However they were super friendly and we were super understanding. We ordered de Camarones à la Diabla, two tacos, albondigas soup and pozole with a 20% tip for about $65. If you ever need a quick meal and affordable meal then they offer burritos and tacos that are pretty affordable! Most of them are 2 to 5 dollars each.

Yelp
Sadly, this little joint has been many different restaurants over the years. Some of them have been great and others not so good. Unfortunately TacoMex, just isn't one of the good ones, at least for me. I came through the drive-thru a while back and the ordering process was easy, but I had to wait 20 minutes for the food and there was only one car in front of me. Why have a drive-thru if people have to wait that long? The food was super greasy and needed more flavor. I've always heard how great TacoMex is, but this just didn't do it for me.

Alonna G.

Yelp
The other morning on my way to work, I decided to stop and get a breakfast burrito. I was the first in line and there was absolutely no one behind me so I placed my order and waited about 15 minutes. As soon as I got to work and took a bite I noticed that the bacon was under cooked. I'm pissed because I could've got sick and what was the rush on cooking this burrito when there was no one else in line. I even tipped the place!! I will never be back and beware to those that decide to go!

Daniela S.

Yelp

Greg M.

Yelp
If you want the real deal here it is. Great flavor all around. The carne a'sada (steak)tacos are my favorite. Topped with cilantro and onions. The salsas are nice and spicy made fresh daily. All the fixings on the side make for an easy carry out. I find myself here almost every week.

Summy B.

Yelp
Caldo De Res ,Breakfast Burritos, Menudo, Pastor Tacos and the Elote Con Vaso are all pretty good here! (:

Reagan T.

Yelp
Oh, TacoMex - what a delight you are! I've been coming here for about a year now and they, almost, always get it right. I typically come at night time, and I always get the same thing - Pastor tacos. Sometimes I add a pastor quesadilla or burrito for giggles (what? I love consistency lol). The pastor here is great! Always delicious and hot! Service is awesome! Sometimes it might take a few minutes, but I've never waited longer that 20 minutes. I wish I could give you more info on other items, but the pastor is amazing. Why should I deviate when I drive 25 minutes to get here?

Sarah H.

Yelp
I was highly amused to see TacoMex open in weeks when another restaurant just a few blocks away took the better part of a year to open their doors. I popped by around 7:30pm on a Monday night. The hours are great - they're open from 7:30am-11:30pm so it's pretty easy to catch them when they are open. There were one or two cars in the drive through but I decided to go inside since I wasn't familiar with the menu. There was a guy waiting by the counter for his order but no line at the register so I was able to order right away. I decided to try a variety of tacos: Al Pastor, Carnitas, Chicken, and Chorizo. Prices are very reasonable at TacMex - my tacos were $1.50 each and most menu items are under $10. They have a surprisingly large seafood selection for a fast food concept restaurant and the breakfast menu is very affordable and offers quite a few options. They definitely had a superior salsa bar to other taco places I've been to and I liked all three flavors that I tried which seemed to be tomatillo, hot red chile, and chipotle. The Carnitas and Al Pastor was fine but nothing special. The chicken was very good - tender and moist, had clearly been marinating for a while but kind of plain like a good pulled rotisserie chicken. The chorizo was the standout favorite. My only complaint - and hopefully this is just a result of them just having opened - was how long it took for the food to come out. As I mentioned above, there were only a few other customers ahead of me, yet to took close to 15 minutes to be served when I would think all of the ingredients for street tacos would be pre-made. I will definitely be back to try more but not when I'm in a hurry.

Kathy A.

Yelp
If you don't order ahead you may have to wait a few minutes, but generally the food is well worth it. Lettuce and tomato garnish is always fresh, their salsas are distinctive. My only complaint is the inconsistency: one day the guacamole tostada had over 1/2" avocado, next day it was spread so thin you could see through it.

Lynn J.

Yelp
How this place has a 3.5 star rating is beyond me! In the 15 mins I was there I saw 3 employees in and out the back door no hand washing or glove changing in between. The Cashier chopping onions for cold salsa buffet bar with one glove on going from handling cash with that glove and returned to chopping onions without washing hands or changing glove. The foods appeared sloppy and very unappealing. Cup of corn was mostly water and mayonnaise pastor had an odd smell and taste. The cook who delivered my food to my table in gloves is the same cook pictured below. Exiting the back door digging through his trunk while gloved and then returned back into the building through the back door. My common sense guess is that those were the same gloves used to deliver my food with. This place has food poisoning written loud all over the operation. Be careful out there folks.

Steph M.

Yelp
The food there is depressing to say the least. I've tried to give chances. I ordered their chili cheese fries and they were PLAIN and kind of dry. No flavor whatsoever, not even with their 2 spoonfuls of "green chili", talk about stingy. And they use nacho cheese, seriously? I did add 3 different salsas to give it flavor and make them not so dry. Their tacos are ok. My advice to you: Drive further down the road for better food.

David M.

Yelp
The girl at the drive thru window was absent for three minutes with nobody inside holding her up. I had to honk, then she came to the window, and said sorry. Put in my order (the drive thru speaker didn't work) and got my drink, then the girl asked me to wait in the parking lot for my order to be brought out to me. They've done this before, and I've never been a fan because it always is them taking their sweet time to get it out to you. If you need food to go fast, don't come here.

Nora F.

Yelp
Not a big fan of the costumer service here. Ordered my food and sat there for 30 minutes wasn't more than 3 people in the restaurant. Then when I finally got my tacos I only got 4 rather than the 5 I ordered. Wasted $10 dollars. The one on Colfax is 100% better with even better food!

Ahmad E.

Yelp
I tried not to post this review but I think the owner needs to know where they need to worked on harder . I have a restaurant myself and I know it's hard to satisfy everyone but ... Come on !!!! You guys don't know how to make California burrito . I was so disappointed because when I asked them if they have California burrito she said yes but what I've got was some ground meat (not steak) a little bit of chopped potato fry bean and rice !!! And this was first time when I asked her what they put in California burrito she told me this California burrito = French fries steak Pico de gallo some cheddar cheese that is it But for second attempt I still didn't get California burrito it was some made up burrito whatever they want to call it . Now you see the reason for 2 star I probably won't go there again . Sorry guys I wasn't happy.

Michelle F.

Yelp
Expensive for what you get. There are no prices listed. They shorted us an order. Would not fix. We were not given a receipt. I don't know if the food was good because I didn't get my food.

Luz S.

Yelp
Craving Mexican food? Try this place! This little restaurant in my neighborhood has saved me cooking dinner quite few times, call ahead and pick up your order, dinner is ready in 15 min! Sweet tooth? The flan and cheese cake will satisfy that also!

Neri C.

Yelp
First time eating here and food was really bad. Order "albondigas" and it had a horrible taste, the whole soup smelled like burned plastic! Horrible. horrible, horrible!

D M.

Yelp
If you want rubbery enchiladas then this is the place to go to. Ordered cheese enchiladas and they were hard and rubbery. I get either hard or rubbery but both. That takes a special skill. Also got the chili cheese fries. Meat was hard as well. Save your money.

Browner G.

Yelp
I actually like their food here a lot! But what pissed me off was to find out that they charged my card for my food order plus gave themselves a tip! I was looking for my receipt in my bag when I got home and I realized that they did not give me one. I received an email Last night for my charge and I don't even know how they got my email address and I see my preset charge of $25 plus a $5 tip that I didn't not give. They also scribbled a signature that absolutely wasn't mine! Great food but they are thief's !!!

Ben J.

Yelp
Real solid breakfast burritos for a reasonable price. Honestly some of the best I've had!

Dalexsynn J.

Yelp
I thought to stop by and check it out big mistake what I thought was going to be a quick drive thru mean turned out to be a nightmare I had ordered the chicken soup and drove up to pay 20 dollars for a soup not only did they not have my order rest at the window the attitude filled lady told me to park up front for my order now 15 minutes total have now gone by I noticed I wasn't alone as many other customers filled the lot after me all receiving there meals within 5 minutes apart with the customers coming and going 30 minutes after placing my order still nothing a total of one hour and 30 minutes had to pass in order for me to get the soup that I had ordered once I got home I noticed there being absolutely no chicken in my soup but only a measly little meat ball and 2 small pieces of squash the rest was broth. WORST PLACE EVER

Lyndsey Z.

Yelp
This place is the best place to get breakfast burritos! Bacon egg and potato is the way to go. Get there before 1030 am and the breakfast burrito even gets better its under 4 bucks! We also have gotten other things there as well. There tamales are fantastic also a good bang for your buck! I brought these for the guys I work with and everyone was very impressed with how good these are! The only reason I give 4 stars other than 5 is the drive thru is very slow and you have to order from the window other than the speaker where there food is listed. But some of the best places I have eaten at are the places that aren't so shiny and new!

Tom G.

Yelp
I have been going to the original Taco Mex for years and moved out to this part of town last year so I am so happy Taco Mex 6 is open now! The food is amazing, just like the other locations. I had menudo which is available on weekends only as well as a breakfast burrito which was awesome. I will be back again and again, especially in the morning for the huge breakfast burritos for $2.99!

Pao R.

Yelp
When it comes to mexican food if is not right then don't even try. Customer service is poor no none, seasoning of the food is bad and service is super slow

Robert B.

Yelp
This by far is my favorite local Mexican restaurant in Aurora the food is delicious. The stuft chicken breast is so tender. All the tocos are great. Thank you for opening in my area. This place is not a fast food restaurant. It's a real restaurant. Food you will enjoy. The staff are great happy to answer questions. Last Saturday I went twice. They make tacos out front while you wait for your meal.

Lauren B.

Yelp
I am a Mexican Food snob coming from San Diego but honestly Rubio's & Costa Vida have better flavor than this place. The horchata is disgusting and the carne asada has weird texture. Won't be coming back.

Jael T.

Yelp
Just to let y'all know, the fries are frozen the horchata is over priced for refills. Needs a bit of a make up but it is what it is. Other then the frozen fries , it was pretty good

Elda Andrea G.

Yelp
The only reason why I'm posting 1 Star, is because unfortunately Yelp doesn't have 0 stars o negative starts. So here it goes.... 1. It has a drive through... Great! We thought... until we had to wait in the drive thru for 15 mins. This place is not meant for a drive thru! 2. The food...‍ our order was the following; Tacos de Tripas, tacos al pastor, y Tacos de carne asada. We also ordered 2 horchatas The Tacos de tripas; we couldn't eat them, they were disgusting, plain and simple... stir away from them, at all cost! Final grade -5/5 Tacos al pastor were edible. I'll give them 2/5 Tacos de carne asada were ok. I'll award them 3/5 The horchatas were good. They are definitely 4/5... but you know, it's horchata. 3. I'm dissatisfied and disappointed. It's not like they are giving the food away. We payed almost $40 for our order. I will never again go, and fellow yelper, you make your own choice, but you've been warned. To the owners; it's not like your restaurant was great before, its alway was a bit dirty (and Tri-County Health inspections records verifies my claim), but at least your food was good. Now you are opening new restaurants, and although I am happy for your success, and the employment you produce, your restaurants' food is horrible, and so is the service! You could be great, you really could! Micro manage, get involved in the kitchen, do something... You no longer have my business, but I hope you keep everyone else's.

Katie R.

Yelp
We ordered gorditas plate (al pastor), 2 tacos al pastor, and a carne asada burrito. The gorditas were okay. The al pastor was soggy. They did not have very much flavor. I asked for just beans and meat in the gorditas. They only put beans on one. The beans were mediocre. The rice was good. The tacos were extremely soggy. The carne asada was dry. Also, what is up with the plastic like American cheese? Got some cacique! The service was good and I thought we got a lot of food for what we paid. However, I'd rather go down the street to Jesus's. The only thing I'd go back for was the Jamaica water

Glenn M.

Yelp
More the one time I've had to wait to order in the morning. No cashier or they can't find the cash drawer.

Justin W.

Yelp
Horrible service. Like we were not even there. Didnt even tell us our total. I had to ask. Tacos were not seasoned, and they would not allow my buddy to get a sode of guacamole. Said it couldnt be done....wtf...do not spend your money there. Taco selene is where its at. Soo dissapointed.

Regina K.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. I'm a creature of habit so I haven't strayed far from their taco selections....but why would I? These tacos are that good. Yes, sometimes the wait is slow but oh well, that's life. I mean....you live in a modern convenience world with literally everything at your fingertips...including food. At least you aren't having to go hunt for your food. Anyway, the prices are fantastic and I have yet to be disappointed in anything I have tried. This place is my happy place.

Rafael E.

Yelp
Horrible service. Waited in drive through for 20-30 min and the people behind me got their food before me and I only had 2 tacos.

Jazmin G.

Yelp
This place reminds me of my moms cooking! They're tacos are authentic with onions and cilantro. Salsa is spicy and they also have habanero salsa! I've had their flautas, gorditas, tacos, burritos, caldos and let me tell you they never disappoint!! So good!!!!

Eliza B.

Yelp
It was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My friend and I love good Mexican food and always try to support local restaurants. It was Sunday afternoon about 3, they had 1/2 dozen patrons there when we arrived. Went to register to order, ordered 2 Chili Rellanos and chips and salsa. Paid and went back to the table. We were visiting, not really paying that close attention when I realized it had been a 1/2 hour and we still didn't have our food. What was worse, looked as though no one was cooking in the kitchen. Went back up to counter, finally someone came back in the restaurant from outside and looked at me and said, did you want to order something? I told her and showed her my receipt, explaining we had already ordered and paid now 45 minutes ago. Her eyes got really big and she said, oh no didn't the other girl tell you? We dont have any chili rellanos?! No, no one told us anything. So we ordered chicken burritos, and they were cold, chips were stale and salsa was runny....nope dont go....we wont go back ever.

Tess H.

Yelp
You can't beat this place for $1.50 authentic tacos. I have been going to location on Colfax for years. I am very excited to see a location out here!!!

Patricia G.

Yelp
Good variety of Mexican traditional food from menudo and all kinds of soups to tacos, tostada, and my favorite shrimp cocktail.

Matthew R.

Yelp
Worst 20$ I've spent. Unseasoned, raw, uncooked food. Worst food I've ever fucking had. If I could put a negative stars then I would. Shut this place down ASAP

Janyce V.

Yelp
I had my graduation party catered by TacoMex Chambers and I would highly recommend. TacoMex Chambers catered Carne Asada and Pastor Tacos, along with Jalapeños on the side and Horchata to drink. I was receiving endless compliments from everyone all night. I was highly satisfied along with all of my guests. The food was high quality, tasteful, authentic and the service was fast and friendly. All together it was outstanding, the managers went above and beyond and delivered greatly. 10/10. Highly recommend.

Lucio R.

Yelp
This amazing taco spot was very good as well as their service. The employees and everyone there were amazing people they treated me and my family with great respect. I want to highlight the food due to the fact that it was really good and we received it nice and hot. Would highly recommend!!

Kyle M.

Yelp
Definitely the best authentic Mexican food I've had in Colorado. Since moving here from California I've been on the hunt for some good Mexican food. It took me awhile, but I've finally found my new spot!

Carlos J.

Yelp
Start with a positive. I like the menu selection because has many of my favorite Mexican dishes...Menudo, Posole, Caldo de Res, Coctel de Cameron and other items items that I WAS eager to try. This is my 3rd visit and this last visit that prompted me to input a review. The food is just average but the prices are a bit steep. All the soups are $14 which is a few dollars higher than the other Mexican restaurants in the area. I've had the Menudo and Caldo de Res and finished most of it bc I paid in my opinion more than these soups should be priced. And on today's visit it took 18 minutes for just ONE item which was Caldo de Res. Sat in the drive thru wondering why so long when they had only one person ordering inside. It's just soup. But it seems others have complained about the wait times too. I so want this place to be good, in fact I used to work here 30 years ago when it opened up as Taco Rancho (a Taco Bell alternate, like McDonalds & McDowells...see if some of you movie buffs know where that's from)...but sadly the food, prices and service need working. Just seems businesses are greedy too quick. Delivering a good product, at good prices with good service is a lost business model now

Landon S.

Yelp
Taco Mex has some of the best tacos that I have ever eaten. I order tacos from here almost once a week and definitely at least once every two weeks. The tacos I would give a easy 5 stars but Taco Mex does have a HUGE problem with not getting the correct order. I would say about 30% of the time my order is actually correct, have that be me getting the correct amount of tacos, or me ordering a variety of tacos and only get one type of taco, or even me asking for cilantro and onions to be put on the tacos or even in a bag on the side but when I get my tacos I won't have everything that I asked for. It is a real disappointment because I want to eat their tacos everyday but I do not want to have the fear that my order is going to be wrong in one way or another.

Chassidy R.

Yelp
Got my order completely wrong. I asked for no onions on my burrito and it's caked in onions. I fired chicken nuggets and I didn't receive those. Just and extra thing of fries which taste dry and not very pleasant. I ordered tortillas but got bread instead. Very very disappointed with this service.

Patrick G.

Yelp
I have tried a LOT of Mexican restaurants and I honestly had the absolute BEST chile rellenos ever here!!! The service was great, the food was fresh, amazing tortillas too! I read the reviews from a couple whiners about waiting 15 minutes to be served. Sorry, this isn't Taco Bell, this is real food!

N M.

Yelp
Taco Mex is one of my favorite traditional mexican food restaurants. The food is always great and delicious. If you are looking for something fast and delicious this is the place to go. I'm so happy there is one close to home now. I will always be a loyal customer. They have had issues at the drive thru and I've heard people complain it takes long the reason they take a long time is because they are making it fresh, it's not the usual fast drive thru systems so I'm glad to know they do that!

Carl C.

Yelp
Love the Mexican food there. Very nice people working there. I don't have much to say but go .u won't be disappointed. I'm from Texas so I was raised on this delicious food. Nice selection !!!!! Mmmmm got to get back again real soon. Bye now I'm getting for your place of business. Oh yeah !!!!!!
