Taco Mex Restaurant

THE best Mexican restaurant in Boston in my opinion! Love the food, the service and the margaritas and margaronas!! If you are around East Boston, it’s a must!!!

That restaurant was my favorite restaurant so far in Boston. The quality of the food was fantastic. The portion was good enough for a full meal with a great reasonable price. The sauce which came with the shrimp we ordered was the most delicious sauce I have ever had. The atmosphere was great. Also, I enjoyed the background music. Highly recommended.

This place was the 1st time I ordered and it won't be the last . It's pretty good. I bought take-out.. I love when they separated the food, no mess or spill.. Not spicy just in case someone can't handle spicy food. You can always add spicy if you want. I told them no cheese since I'm a Lactose and they made sure they didn't put any dairy in it. Thanks .

If you like authentic Mexican food this is the place to enjoy! Great food, drinks, and service! I've been here numerous times and have never had a bad experience!! I especially enjoy the passionfruit juice!!

I go here almost every week they only messed up my order once then immediately fixed it and didn't charge us, they also make excellent drinks. I can't praise this place enough please go visit!

Shrimp Fajita plate was served sizzling hot with perfect seasoning and generous portions. Highly recommend the sweet plantains for a nice dessert!

Go for: A welcoming refuge with hearty portions of Central and South American dishes. Avoid if: You're looking for a personalized, attentive dining experience. Something surprising: The plantain and pork belly come with most entrees. Reservation needed? No, but you'll probably have to wait for a table at peak meal times. Overall Experience: 3/5. It's a cool hole-in-the-wall spot and they often open the windows in the summertime, which is nice. The portions were great but the food definitely seemed mass-produced, and the service was mediocre at best. Updated January 27,2023: disregard the comment below as I came back in on that date and the disgusting lady was VERY DISRESPECTFUL and picked up a rag on the ground and started wiping the tables with it 🤢🤮. I don’t do business with ignorant people, I wish i can give this a negative 5 stars 🤢🤮 I’LL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN and I’d advise any health conscious person as well. One of the ladies in the restaurant stated that her name was Sophia btw, according what the other waitress stated. I ordered the Churrasco, which was super delicious and It’s like the Chef’s cook from the heart 😋😋

I've had a few different plates of food and Burritos and this place is really good Nothing bad to say about this place Atmosphere is amazing the staff is very friendly and attentive and of course the food is delicious...

Came here for dinner because there was a good amount of people inside. Super happy we went with the crowds Pros: - Mango agua fresca was a great portion size and extremely refreshing (not too diluted and not too sweet) - I usually go for steak tacos but shrimp was really fresh and paired nicely with the ripe avocados - Bandeja Montanera was delicious - all the different textures and spices worked really well together Cons: - Really tight space

Anytime I'm in the area I always enjoy a spectacular meal here! Fabulous food and service. You can't go wrong giving this place a try!!

I've always walked past this place in my neighborhood and it's consistently been busy with a mix of both locals and visitors alike. One evening I decided to give it a try. this is following a long and exercise field day so I really needed some thing to nourish all of those calories expended. I have the combination all included tacos platter and my friends had the meat platter and tostones chicken. The food is really feeling and hit the spot. If you're looking for some Mexican food this is a great spot to check out in Boston. The meat is less thin and grilled compared to a typical Carne Asada and gives off more of a steak vibe and it's great! Everyone around us was ordering the drinks and they looked massive with a capital M!

Huge margaritas and guacamole. Great food. Nice outdoor space and indoors is thoughtfully decorated. Nice service. Down to earth and solid prices.

Food was average, the chips and salsa were very very disappointing! It was literally watery with no type of chunks in it! The chips seemed very generic like it came out of a bag they weren't warm, salty or anything. Best part of my meal was the rice and beans! Service was extremely slowwwwwww. Spent a long time waiting to be greeted and also to close the check. Not sure if I will be back due to the service being extremely slow.

Always check your bill before you leave !! It states Tips are automatically added on tables of six or more. But we're only two people, yet it still asks us if we want to add more of a tip? Wasn't the 18% that was included enough ? Look at the bill

if I coild give a zero star i wools I live in Massachusetts traveling through maverick square . I'm looking around trying to find the cheapest thing to eat. Yes I do work however, today is bill day and all bills are due and my money is tight i go into taco mex looking for the cheapest thing on a menu chips and salsa great 5 dollars. unfortunately, I didn't have enough to cover the $.35 tax so guess who didn't get chips and salsa I even offered to swipe my card. She did informed me. She would have to charge me more. Am I ever able to open ann establishment What ever kind it may be I pray to God that I am never doing so bad that I have to deny an order...over .35 freaking cents humanity going straight into the trash

Affordable, attentive servers and great food. We are here visiting from Houston and this place is quite tasty. I would definitely come back and recommend to others.

My friend told me this was her favorite place and it did not disappoint. Juicy meat, freshly made tortillas super cheap food. So filling I would go back for more every time. I got food to go but I saw the drinks they were making and other options and everything looked amazing. They also have arepas which were so filling. Definitely coming back.

I ordered a tipico montenera (mountain plate) with borracho beans and rice, fried ripe plantain, chicharron (crispy belly pork), and a slab of carne asada (steak), and salad. A thimble of salsa pulls all the elements together. Perfect with a lime margarita (on the rocks, not frozen, so you can really taste what you're drinking). The servers are effective but are not here to give you the warm fuzzies :P

This places is 5 star for food quality. atmosphere and price. Margaritas Mango was great. I even had a sparrow joined me for dinner. The quantity was a lot. It is also a bonus if you can find a seat in their out door seating. Go early to get that outdoor seating. I ate a block away in another Tex Mex but can't compare with this place. I was visiting Boston for a meeting and this was a nice memory.

What we tried was the chips with guacamole, and the fried plantains with guacamole and chicharron. The chicharron was good in flavor, but a little too hard to the point you had to take it off the fried plantain and eat it on its own. Overall pretty good. I wouldn't drive from another city to go there, however if I were walking down the street and happened to be hungry I'd probably stop there again.

Really, really, REALLY good food from around the Latino world (not just Mexico). My absolute favorite: the tostones with avocado, shrimp, and chicharrón. They are mouth watering! Not sure what chicharrón is, think pork belly...fried. The tacos are soft shelled, traditional and DELICIOUS! I love the margaritas, but they also have sangria & Cuba libres! I love this place. If you come...please respect the Latino culture - try to speak as much Spanish as you can & know they are working their tails off. TRY. THIS. PLACE.

Everything here was delicious. I would eat here again. I got take out, but the place is super colorful and would be great to dine in.

I have always really liked this place. The folks have always been really nice to me. I moved away, but was in the area and went back. While I think the prices have gone up a bit (I am sure C-19 has been a struggle), I still enjoy this place.

Had a decent experience at taco mex this weekend. It's right off the maverick t stop so the people watching from the outdoor seating is out of this world. The margs are good, I think on the rocks are better here than the frozen and I usually only drink frozen. The staff is really nice and the guac is also delicious and fresh!

Service suffered tremendously, food was decent and portion was ok. Wouldn't recommend definitely not welcoming or inviting.

I ordered a shrimp burrito, shrimp quesadilla and fish tacos that were all wonderful. What I enjoy about this place is that it stays true to who it is. A small Mexican joint on right by the Maverick T stop. In my experience, the food does what it needs to do: fill you up and make it taste good on the way in. You can also order a Corona or Modelo too

If you want raw shrimp come here. They don't cook the shrimp fully here. I kindly asked the manager if this looks cooked and she said "yes that's how we cook it" Cool raw shrimp is what they serve here.

I was going to grade them as a 2. But after discovering they focus on rec texmex I gave them a 3. For tex mex food they hit the margin. Food isn't incredible. It's okay at best. Their fajita mix plate is okay it lacks the beans that would come with a parillada. Michiladas aren't bad. I've had better at other Mexican restaurants in the area. Over all its a mediocre middle of the field restaurant.

Great patio with all the free entertainment Maverick square provides. Excellent service. Solid margaritas and they put a lot of cheese on the nachos. It's a win win!

I love Mexican food so when my friend suggested we try this spot I was all in. We visited on a Saturday night and while they were busy we were still able to grab a table. The waitress was kind and never overbearing which we appreciated. The margaritas are strong and the portion sizes are large. I tried the shrimp tacos which were amazing. My entree was the steak dish with sautéed onions, rice and beans, salad and grilled sweet plantain. I found my steak tough which was disappointing but everything else was yummy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will try another dish when I return!

Food was very good. The restaurant made me feel like I was in Mexico. The decorations and the tables were amazing. I ordered a steak and chicken quesadilla and it was delicious. The guacamole was freshly made and delicious. The piña cola was amazing. I loved it.

The grilled shrimp taco is epic. Delicious!!! Pass on the fajita though. Would give this place 3.5 stars

For East Boston, the food here is average, the drinks are over priced and the staff isn't very friendly. The only drinks that are decently priced are the beer ($4/bottle) but the selection isn't great. The quesadilla was literally just meat and cheese, as opposed to every other place we've been which came loaded with tons of veggies. We also got an order of the carne asada and I had to ask for tortillas, it came off that they were not going to bring them and only did because I brought it up. Overall, there are MUCH better places to eat in East Boston.

I normally wouldn't order shrimp tacos for takeout as they always taste better in the restaurant but I took a chance with taco mix because I heard good things and I've been happy almost every time. They are flavorful and have the right portion of shrimp in each taco. They are the only place that I trust ordering tacos from in east boston. The reason I give four star is I still have yet to eat in the restaurant to see if it is just as good and also I received the wrong order one out of the many times I ordered. I can't necessarily blame the restaurant because with all mobile ordering there can be confusion with the person delivering otherwise I've been happy with this restaurant in highly recommend

Not the most incredible food in the world, but definitely 5 stars for the price. The pupusas are SO SO SO GOOD. I also really enjoy their beans! Their burritos are okay, I definitely recommend the pupusas over everything else :)

We stopped by here one evening to grab a bite. It's right near the Maverick station so it's convenient. It was a Saturday night and we got there after 6pm. There were a few tables occupied but by the time we were leaving, almost all the tables were occupied. The service was good but you can tell they were understaffed. We got the vegetable enchilada taco mex and the taco mex salad. The enchilada taco mex came with a salad on the side, rice, and beans. Both orders good and full of flavor. The portions were generous and it was filling.

I always come to this place to eat breakfast. Food for a fair price and it's so good, the American breakfast is always my number one choice.

I ordered for the first time in 4 years of living around the corner and I was impressed by the sandwich I got and my wife ordered a typical plate and it was delicious . I will be ordering again . Keep up the with the good foods

Went with a group of friends after we got out of work and we had a great time!! The staff is so attentive and friendly. The margaritas were delicious and the perfect level of strong, the burritos we got were delicious, and the atmosphere was great for what we were looking for. It's a cozy, hole in the wall location with great food, good drinks, and a wonderful staff. Take the time to check them out because they are absolutely worth it!!

This hole in the wall is actually a hidden gem. I came here for a lunch a few months ago and got the shrimp tacos......BOMB! Good service and they have charge stations with various chargers which I thought was a good idea. The menu has has a lot of variety and they serve alcohol. I dig this place !

Dining in is much better than the take out I highly recommend that you have them repeat the order back to you and check the receipt for you be charged with something that you did not request One thing I can say the food is fresh the chips and the guacamole is made from scratch place is very clean staff is awesome real friendly atmosphere STAY AWAY FROM the breaded chicken with the french fries disappointing nothing to stick to chicken a& batter together U cut into it the comes right off

This is my second time here and they don't disappoint. Drinks are good, food is great! And the service is good too! Constantly cleaning up the trash & dirty plates at your table and asking you if you'd like a refill at what seems like the most perfect time lol. Check it out for yourself !!! Very authentic

This afternoon we were looking for somewhere to eat in East Boston and we ended up at this restaurant. When we entered the restaurant it was totally a dive and the place was dark. We bumped into some friends from Western MA which was nice and we ended up sitting close together because the place is so small. The traditional Mexican food was great, but I decided to step outside the box and try their raw oysters and shrimp plate as well as their Papusas. The papusa was delicious but the oysters on a half shell were terrible. They weren't shucked correctly and there were so many shell piece in the oysters that it took away from the meal. The price was also a bit much for the quantity and quality. Overall, the meal was decent but I am upset with the fact that I decided to buy the oysters. In the future, if we stop here we will eat some more of their traditional items.

This place is amazing, everything was extremely fresh and staff was friendly. It also has a great atmosphere making it a true local treasure. Will definitely be visiting again.

The waitress is really nice first of all, it's by the maverick t stop which is great. I always ordered the Deviled Shrimp with Calamari, it's delicious by the way. However, I found plastic in the dish, I thought it was shrimp shell but it's kind of red-whiteish color. I didn't like that very much, the cook should've been more careful...

Dont listen to the people on here yabbering about service. I dont even speak Spanish and they treated me well anf fast service. This place has good food, Great micheladas, and clean bathrooms. Get the steak tacos!!!!

I went to taco mex for the first time about a week ago. Best quesadilla I've had in my life I highly recommend the Shrimp Quesadilla. Also, the service was amazing and I will be back.

Love that they serve drinks all day and have and have a great breakfast menu. Otherwise their food is average. It's conveniently located at the Maverick T stop and the staff are always friendly, but it is on the smaller side. Margaritas and milkshakes never fail to disappoint.

While the food here isn't the best in comparison to the other great Latin restaurants in the Maverick area, it is a nice place for a small group dinner or a cute first date. What we loved? -the environment! It is a small bar/restaurant that has a nice Latin flair. -the servers are warm and friendly. They give good recommendations and are very honest about menu items. - Their chicharrones burrito is delicious..if you're a fan of pork belly!! Oh and you can't go wrong with their mango margarita! What could've been better? -the food. The burrito is the only thing I enjoyed-- the chicken wings were the frozen kind, their pupusas taste like a cheap rip off of La Hacienda's (which is right down the street), and the nachos don't have enough toppings at all.

This is literally some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The guac is the best guac in the world and I would recommend the grilled shrimp tacos. You get three for 12$ and I'm stuffed after 1.5!! Will be back for more!

The food is okay. As always, the chips have to be amazing or else ure doomed amigo. They never brought chips. After asking for chips three different times, they brought yesterdays chips. You know, stale and very cold. The chips are supposed to keep you entertained and excited about what is to come. If the chips dont get you excited, im pretty sure the MAS RICO dishes will be about the same quality. Had tacos and pupusas. They were ok but the waitress forgot an item. Whatever. Finally left about 40 mins into the evening. Oh, before i go, they did not have Lengua Tacos which was very triste. The michelada con tomate and salt rim was muy rica. Not coming back unless the need calls for it.

Food was great!! Service was terrible, it took 15 mins to get our drinks, and she never even checked to see if we needed anything.

Love this place.. anytime of day.. Fish Tacos are my absolute favorite. If you like liver, the liver and onions is awesome.. and can't forget the lime margaritas
