Taco N Madre Taqueria Y Cevicheria

I came about this restaurant in search of a plan B, after realizing that the restaurant that I wanted to go was under renovations. I ordered the Chilaquilles, which is plate of fried tortilla chips cooked in a Mexican green sauce paired with a fried egg on top and accompanied by a scoop of red Mexican rice and beans. If you're confident in your spice tolerance, there's a grilled jalapeño to add some kick, otherwise I'd proceed with caution lol. I also got a bowl of agua chiles and tostadas on the side. I'm from the Caribbean so I'm always harsh when rating seafood, and I'm also comparing it to the authentic flavors I've had from different parts of Mexico. This time I wasn't wowed, but it was still decent. Don't forget to wash it all down with a big cup of their strawberry horchata drink. It's soooo good!

Was looking for a restaraunt that was open late in St Paul, and discovered Taco N Madre. I'm happy I stumbled across this little gem - they have a large menu, great flavors, and friendly service. It's a casual but spacious spot on a street corner with a small room that people were singing karaoke in on one side, and a cute patio on the other. Even though it was late, there were a lot of families with young kids there. The menu is expansive - tacos, quesadillas, empanadas, wings, burritos, caldos, ceviches, botanas, burgers, and more. It was tough trying to decide what to choose! We finally landed on a quesadilla, a carne asada alambre (meat, bell peppers, onions, ham, bacon, and mozzarella cheese, over 10 small corn tortillas), and stuffed jalapenos. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and tasted great. And the servings were huge! I'll definitely be going back!

Amazing place angie is amazing and very flexible. Although our food came out wrong through uber. It was still handled in a professional way that at the end made us happier than ever. We cant wait to go back and if you are anywhere in the twin cities you should try them. They have great music and their space is welcoming.

Good portions, but the flavor and textures weren't the best. For example, the shrimps' texture was pasty.

People tend to try the menu when they come back to a place, but I already know that when my second time here comes, I'll be getting the street burrito again. It's so damn tasty and the presentation is simply but pretty. I accidentally drove past the other Mexican place I intended to go to, but I don't regret that at all since I discovered this gem.

This place absolutely deserves five stars. It's tucked away in a quiet West Saint Paul neighborhood with plenty of street parking. The service is top-notch. The menu is massive (we ordered from every category) and everything is solid. I'll be making this a regular stop.

Great selection of Mexican specialties. I wasn't super hungry so I got an order of chips and guac plus 2 plain carne asada tacos. All delicious, and the portions were generous. The tacos were stuffed to overflowing. Even sharing the chips, I got really full! I was with a group, and people ordered a good variety from the menu, including two types of ceviche. They loved the fish one but said the shrimp version was overly spicy. Also nice that you can get a beer here to go with your food. Prices are really reasonable and service was friendly and pretty quick.

Generous portions and reasonable prices. Favorites are birria combo (3 large ones for $8.99), lengua and cochinita pibil tacos. I liked all of the sauces, the green one definitely has a kick. Mixed ceviche was refreshing with nice texture but not sure if I'll get it again. This is maybe my second time having it so honestly not sure what is good or not. Churros are decent though a bit pricy for $5 compared to everything else.

My friend and I got really hungry the other day and I was craving tacos when this restaurant popped up on yelp! At first we were a little hesitant to try it because it seemed quiet and is located in a somewhat strange spot. However when we got inside it changed to excitement, as they have many options for drinks and food, and the atmosphere felt very homey. I am from New Mexico and have really missed the food from back home and this hit the spot! My friend got the chicken quesadilla and loved it! (Great for picky eaters!) I ordered a birria taco combo with an additional shrimp taco. While the birria tacos were pretty good and tasted fresh, the shrimp taco was absolutely amazing! The flavor was complex and refreshing and might be one of the best tacos I've had in my life! I will definitely be going back for more shrimp tacos and horchata! The only thing I would say could be changed is how long it took to get our food - it wasn't too bad, but considering it was just my friend and I there when we ordered it took awhile. I would, however, take into account the recent employee shortage so I understand.

Visiting our son who is attending CSP and we wanted to eat Mexican Food. My son said he hasn't found any and living in California we have Mexican Food everywhere! After his game today my husband found Taco N Madre after call four different places that didn't have Menudo. My husband found this gem. Angie and her staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. Their Mexican food is authentic from the beans to the Spanish Rice. Everything was seasoned to perfection! My husbands Menudo the best he's had and trust me he's had a lot living in California. We got the Birria combo, Quesadilla, Carne Asada Burrito, Beef Empanadas and Birria de Res. Let me tell you everything was fire, on point and hit the mark above and beyond our expectations. You're Reataurant is right up there and better than most places in California. If you want some authentic Mexican Food please visit Angie at Taco N Madre they will not disappoint! We came from Oakland California to visit my son at CSP this place is fire!! Service is top notch Angie was professional an friendly. Their menudo was this best I've ever had!! Definitely recommend this spot if you want authentic Mexican food!

This place is excellent! The best Mexican food I've had in Minnesota. I stopped in for lunch and had the Burrito Banderas with steak. It was excellent!

GREAT GREAT GREAT FOOD..!!!! Oh yes we just came to check their Ceviche because I hear they have different kind so we had the Ceviche Mix and Cochinita Tacos. We Really love their food, really testy and good presentation. You have to try this place, we will continue coming to try other ceviches and cocktails. Service: Great. Food: Really tasty. First of all, I am so sorry I didn't have a pictures to post. But this one ??? Amaizngggggg..... I can't rating enough. For me is 5 Stars isn't enough to rate. Loveeee the foods. Me and my Partner always go there on Sunday after church. We can't stop eating this. Made our Sunday, Taco day lol. Foods were good size amount and taste were outstanding. Recommend: Fish Taco, Every Fish dish, Enchiladas, Quesadillas

Wow, my husband and I will definitely be back. This unassuming neighborhood restaurant has an extensive menu, friendly and fast service, a nice outdoor space (in addition to indoor seating). We were blown away by how good the food was. I had an enchilda with carne asada and verde sauce. It came with mexican/spanish rice and beans. I don't usually eat mexican rice because I don't like the way it tastes but this rice was flavorful and worth every bite. The beans were equally satisfying. In addition, I think the tortillas were homemade and fresh. We recommend checking it out. We can't wait to try more items from the menu.

Quiet neighborhood type place with lots of easy parking. Fantastic flavors throughout the large menu and likely the best shrimp tacos in the Twin Cities. Friendly service, I am never disappointed at Taco N Madre!

Little place we stopped at to eat on a cold winter day for lunch. Great place, pricey , but good. I would go back for sure . Friendly staff . Tacos were good for the middle of Minnesota

DENIED SERVICE DUE TO HAVING A SERVICE DOG. My mother went here because we've always really liked the food and she has had her service dog with her before. However, this time after ordering and paying for guacamole and chips, the woman behind the counter informed my mother that her manager said she would have to take her food and the dog outside. My mother reminded her that the dog was a service dog and was wearing the service dog vest and that it was ILLEGAL to deny service to someone with a service animal. The woman went back and told her manager but returned and said the manager said my mother had to leave or HE WOULD CALL THE POLICE. She told the woman tell her manager to go ahead and call the police becausehe was in the wrong. My mother then sat for NEARLY AN HOUR waiting for her food. The manager never came out front and when she went up and asked for the manager again she was told HE HAD LEFT. Everyone else had received their food so she asked for a money back and left. Several other people in the restaurant people in the restaurant acknowledge how terrible it was how my mother had been treated. Absolutely disgusting. We will NEVER EVER be back to this restaurant. It was obvious the woman behind the counter was only doing what her manager said and was very uncomfortable and her manager didn't even have the common courtesy to come out and speak to us personally. The dog was doing exactly what she's been trained to do; lying under the table, out of the way, not making any noise or trying to interact with anyone. This dog goes all over with us and we have received compliments from police officers on how well trained/behaved she is.

live just 2 mins from here. was looking for a quick takeout burrito nearby. hadn't seen it before, as it's tucked a little off the main road. food was great. exactly what i hoped it would be. will return often.

I ordered a burrito bandera With Carnitas and it was amazing. It came with rice, guac and sour cream on the side. And it was a good value and it hit the spot. Cute little locally owned place. Will definitely return.

I'm going to say this: Birria. Tacos. F Yes. I'm only sorry I didn't take pictures, I was too busy eating. The place is in the middle of a quiet neighborhood and you might miss it if you're not paying attention. The staff were friendly and helpful. My only constructive feedback would be to turn the ambient music down a little. Other than that, 1,000% coming back.

Good, authentic comida. I should have taken pictures but I forgot until it was too late. We got the birria tacos, al pastor tacos, carne asada tacos, red enchiladas, and a chicken tostada. It all hit. Red salsita was especially good. And the restaurant was hella clean. Highly recommend if you're in West St Paul.

WOW!!! This place is AWESOME!!!! my new favorite mexican place, woohooo!! The burritos are soo good i love it! so big and tasty and come with yummy chips and guac. I love it!! Try the PIZZA BIRRIA! its like Birria Tacos but pizza shape! the side consomme soup for dipping is DELICIOUS!! i love Tacos and Madre!! Everybody should try it!! i cant wait to try more stuff next time

Barria tacos were soooo good. We also tried the chicken street tacos as well as the rice & refried beans. Everything was amazing. The Barria broth addicting.

Truly awesome food! I moved here last year after spending a decade in the Bay Area, and so I've really been missing all of the neighborhood taco places that me and my partner used to visit. We hadn't found anything that we really enjoyed until we visited Taco N Madre Taqueria Y Cevicheria tonight. I got two tacos (fish and al pastor), my partner got a fish burrito, and we split an order of the mixed ceviche. Everything was really excellent - and the portions are super generous! Fish tacos were crisp and well-constructed, al-pastor was super tender and flavorful. Strongly recommend the ceviche - the texture on the octopus was really phenomenal. Overall really happy with the food, and will definitely be back!

This place is such a gem! Everything we ordered was delicious and the portion sizes are right. Great for eating family style and for when you have kiddos in tow!

I *really* have become obsessed with this place. Their menu descriptions don't do them justice. My favorite order is the burrito smothered in queso. I order it, a flan, and a strawberry horchata when I wanna make myself really happy. They also have some more unique offers for Westside, like all the seafood, the potato twister things, and whatnot. With a huge menu, unsurprisingly some things are better than others. But it's become my go-to pick me up place. Also the portions are generous, fair pricing too.

Wow, what a marvelous gem, hidden off the main streets. My husband and I were looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite to eat and this is where my game of find a new place landed us. This is by far the best Mexican food I've had in years and the prices are quite reasonable. Yes you have to pay for chips and salsa and the chips and salsa are well worth the price. Wonderfully crunchy, freshly fried chips with a thick salsa that was well balanced and flavorful . I had the Caldo de Camaron. Delightful!! Light, spicy broth rich with potatoes, carrots and so many shrimp. The bowl was enormous and came with avocado, cilantro, onion, and chopped jalapeño with corn tortillas. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and succulent. My husband had a burrito that came with rice and a salad. He said the were amazing. Both of us walked away with enough food for a second meal. We finished with churros that were hot, crisp, chewy and coated with just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. We can't wait to go back and try other dishes on their menu.

Great service! The items are pricey but they won't disappoint. If you're treating yourself to eating out and don't mind the inflation prices it's a really good place it tastes really good. For taste it's 10/10.

I'm working my way through the menu, so far is been a delicious journey. Tacos, salads, soups and desserts are excellent. The staff are hard working and lovely people. Stop in and give they a try, you won't be disappointed.

This unassuming little spot is legit. The ceviche was some of the best I've had anywhere. Tacos were fantastic. My date loved his alambres and the service couldn't have been better. Definitely check it out and support this new local restaurant!

Great Mexican food in the former Jerabek's bakery building. Small staff but super friendly. Went there late on a Monday, saw lots of folks doing take out orders, sat outside in theirlovely little patio. Try the shrimp ceviche- it was a work of art, and yummy, too.

Horrible food. Ordered ceviche and it wasn't fresh and it did not taste good. They came back to tell it was made in the morning. Ordered tacos and meat was very dry. Ordered camarones botaneros and they did not had a good flavor. Kids meal was ok We paid $65 for that and was not worth it at all.

Outstanding and prob. the most underrated or least known spanish spot in MN. So many trash spots in this state this isn't one of them.

We happened upon Taco N Madre by accident and really loved the food. Maria, a server there, said it was "super, super, super Mexican" and we loved that too. We booked them to cater our graduation party and it was perfect. They were on time, sweet to Grandpa (thank you Norma for bringing food to him) and Pasqual stood in the sun cooking the meat and heating up tortillas so the other servers and party guests could dish up in the shade under their awning. Everyone raved about the food. We had chicken, al pastor and birria tacos, ceviche, choriqueso, guac, jalapeno poppers and rice and beans. Go visit these guys and eat some super, super, super Mexican food. You will not be disappointed!

Love this place! The food is made fresh to order, is absolutely delicious and is priced appropriately. The staff is extremely friendly and appreciative of your orders. A little gem in my neighborhood of which I now visit 2 to 3 times a week.
