"Taco Rock is a new fast-casual spot in Rosslyn with a gigantic red-and-black guitar hovering above the seating area. The 2,400-square-foot shop was delayed by months due to permitting delays and is located at 1501 Wilson Boulevard, the space formerly occupied by Spinfire Pizza. Mike Cordero along with his sons Nick and Anthony Cordero and partner Stefano Marzano, executive chef and owner of MightyMeals, are behind this new venture. Taco Rock uses blue corn flour to make tortillas from scratch, a unique feature for a fast-casual taco shop, and offers a variety of tacos, including classic $3 options like al pastor and braised lengua, as well as specialty $4 tacos with fillings such as Key West grouper and tequila-battered shrimp. The venue also offers imported Mexican beers and tequila cocktails, as well as breakfast options wrapped in giant spinach tortillas. Yvette Irene Design worked on the rock-themed interior, featuring faux cobra-skin banquets and graffiti-lined metal chandeliers. Cordero, part of Clarendon’s millennial-driven bars Don Dito and G.O.A.T., is going the fast-casual route for the first time with his ninth Northern Virginia establishment. Taco Rock plans to stuff blue corn tortillas with proteins like skirt steak and beer-battered shrimp; jerk chicken; short ribs; and blue fin tuna.
