What is an authentic taco? It should be simple, cheap, something that you can grab on the go, but turns out to be above all, high quality!
During a recent taco crawl with some good friends, we stopped by Taco Trunp for some truly legit hand held miracles:
Al Pastor - a specialty of Mexico City, based on shawarma spit-grilled meats brought by Lebanese immigrants to Mexico made with marinated pork and pineapples.
Carne Asado - Grilled and sliced beef, complete with the searing flavours you would expect from Monterrey in Mexico.
Here they only make tacos, and it'll stay that way as they are a true taqueria: a place where tacos are sold, just like on the streets of Mexico in a market.
Will probably have to come back and try the Carnitas (pulled pork) and Veggie Monterrey (cheese and mushrooms). I'd also natural drinks, recommend the Mexican lemonade, incredibly refreshing and not too sweet.
One more fun fact, TRUNP stands for: "Taco Realmente Unico No Payasadas"... meaning a "really unique taco, no clowning around."
Buen provencho!
