I first found Taco Bees when I'd come back from school in New York. I live off the L train near 2nd st, so I'm used to places that stay open late -- something Philly seriously lacks. Most spots here shut down early, but Taco Bees is different. They actually stay open until 3 a.m., which already makes them a lifesaver.
When you walk in, the place is clean and smells great. I usually get the build-your-own burrito bowl with shredded beef, shrimp, rice, and beans -- and it always hits the spot. The food's solid, fresh, and reasonably priced.
It's also halal, which shows the owner really thought about the community. You can tell he understands what people want -- he treats Philadelphia like a real city, not a sleepy town. Staying open late, keeping prices fair, and serving good food? That's how you do it.
Highly recommend Taco Bees. They're ahead of their time.
