Today, Monday, December 22nd I decided to try Tacodeli.
Slaughter Lane suite B- 150, because my next door neighbor has been telling me about it for the last 6 months. We live off Escarpment Blvd, only 10 minutes away.
Upon arriving at 10:40 and looking at the menu, I decided to get my husband and myself two tacos to go with a side of avocado slices for both of us.
I placed my order at 10:43. A.m.. I did not receive my order until 18 minutes later.
11:01. A.m.. In 45 years I've lived in Austin, Texas and we've been to a lot of taco places, I've never had to wait almost 20 minutes for 2 breakfast tacos to go.
The people in the restaurant and eating outside were all seated and eating with their food.
There was no one in front of me so I placed my order. I know you had a lot of to-go and pick up orders, people calling in or placing online orders because those bags kept getting placed in your warmer, waiting for people to stop by and pick up.
But while I was there for 18 minutes, only two people came by to pick up their orders.
Why you can't rush or put a person waiting "actually physically " in the restaurant, ahead of someone who's going to be showing up in 30 minutes or so ... to get their order quicker?
I don't understand that policy? Please explain if you care too. I'd like to hear it.
I only went here because my neighbor recommended it.
But unfortunately after the experience I dealt with we will not be coming back.
I ordered two: potato, egg and bacon breakfast tacos.
The bacon was just one slice and it wasn't chopped up.
I ordered a side of guacamole slices , thinking I'd get several slices.
When I got my order.
I have always learned, no matter what to go order I'm getting. If I'm getting Chinese food, Mexican food or whatever. I Always check my order before I leave the restaurant.
Upon opening the bag I saw these two tiny little to go plastic containers.
See photos attached of slivers not slices. I asked the lady who handed me if I could get more avocado because this was unsatisfactory and she said No.
You'd have to talk to the manager. So I said, Could you get the manager for me?
She said , she's behind the counter, taking orders.
So instead of waiting for her, I got in line behind three other people. So when it was my turn I explained to her that I felt it was very unsatisfactory to be getting 2 little containers with slivers of avocado. I asked if I could get more please? As she started to talk, the young man behind the counter, who also worked there said 'It's the standard 2 ounce size "
and she very quickly "shut him up" by saying ....
"I've got it handled"
and she looked back at me and said ...
No ma'am that's the standard amount to go avocado that we give. I said but it's only slivers so it's not even slices.
And she said 2 oz is what everyone gets.
So I said, I'll do a really good review for you online on Google .... If you would please give me some extra avocado?
So she'd begrudgingly "Rolled her Eyes" at me, turned around , said something to the cook. They passed her a little thing of avocados and she gave me two extra little slices .... see photos below.
By the time I got home and opened up our tacos, like I said, there was one , 2 inch slice of bacon , in each of our tacos. Not even chopped up.
The eggs weren't really cooked that well. They were kind of runny and oily.
I wished I had taken a picture of them but I didn't.
So we proceeded to both put our avocado slivers on the breakfast tacos and eat. We are on a budget and retired and when we go out to eat somewhere or if I pick up something to bring home we hope and expect to get good service and good food.
The lady whose name I believe was Colorissa? Or Clarissa?
She said she was the Manager and her Rolling her eyes as she turned away from me. That is so unprofessional. She was rude to me. I feel I was being polite and all I was doing was asking for a few more slices of avocado and not just 2 oz slivers.
