SF’s Popular Tacolicious Promises Prime New Manhattan Beach Location - Eater LA

"Bay Area Mexican food mainstay Tacolicious is coming to greater Los Angeles, landing this spring in Manhattan Beach. The restaurant group, with five locations under its belt, put out a notice on the expansion via Instagram, though reps for the restaurant say they won’t disclose the company’s new address just yet, as there is a current restaurant occupying the space at the moment." - Farley Elliott

A great stop for lunch along the beach! Really cool selection of tacos to mix and match with under one of their combo deals. We go the pastrami, shrimp, chicken, braised beef, and the vampiro. The shrimp was my favorite and had tons to meat in it. Love their house salsa that comes with chips and the salad trio with the tacos is also very fresh. They have both patio and inside seating and the bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

Google
Quick over night layover in LA and decided to check out Manhattan Beach pier. Then stumbled across this Mexican restaurant and was not disappointed. Staff is friendly, great patio with people watching. Only draw back is there were several tables with several kids under like 7yrs old. So very loud, but was worth it for the tacos. We had the braised beef taco and the asparagus and potato taco with a side of refried beans and rice. House margaritas were delicious and so was the queso and tortillas. Recommend if in the area and craving some tacos!

Google
We wanted some Mexican food on our first night in L.A and randomly found this place. It was awesome! Delicious food, tacos come on giant wooden share platters, great cocktails and the churros were fire👌🏼 our server Nick was an absolute legend and really took care of us too. 10/10 would recommend💯

Google
Fried fish taco was ok and they got good grilled corn. Their staffs gave good service here. Will return next time.

Google
So disappointed, First the price per taco is $8! We thought well maybe these will be the best tacos in the world for that price and maybe they are big. Please see picture below and tell me that little taco is worth $8?! First, we got served with chips and salsa and the salsa we ate halfway through (which tasted sweet) was taken away after a while by the waitress and when she walked away we asked if there was something wrong with it. She came back with a fresh salsa and asked again if there was something wrong and she replied with “ it just turned”. Whatever that meant. Then the tacos came and they were all soggy. We got different ones to taste them all and they all lack taste and we’re just bland. For the price we payed, we might of just went to a nicer restaurant and get our moneys worth but I do not recommend this place at all! Save your money and go to a real taco spot. After walking out of there we felt robbed… then came the stomach ache in the night time 😕 NOT WORTH IT

Google
Actually it’s a 3.5 stars. Liked the salsa that came with the chips at the start and variety of the non-alcoholic drink menu. Some of the tacos 2 of 5 were really tasty (vampiro and shrimp) and the rice and bean sides were really well done.

Google
Nice fish tacos with fried fish ! Very tasty and fresh . I also had a margarita which was also good . This place is literally right up the street from the Pier at Manhattan beach so if you're coming down to the beach and want a bite to eat this is a great spot . Casual and friendly .Tacos came with 4 different small sauces and stuff in little cups . One was too hot for me but the others were nice . Also they are open at 11 a.m. ! So they open a bit earlier than Rock'n'Fish around the corner which told us 11.30 when we walked up so we went around the corner to Tacolicious - the prices are good here too .

Google
A quick bite in LA… not the most satisfying. The tacos were $8 a piece and thought they would be much bigger. Nothing special, but they give you a few different salsas to try out. Chips and salsa included too. Right in downtown Manhattan Beach which was great just after the sunset. The server was great, and so was the street side seating, just not the tacos.

Yelp
The review is in the name of this place. Delicious tacos and more. Great location by the beach, too. Cool beach vibe l. I am a big fan of spicy shrimp and mushroom tacos. Great Margaritas, too. All that said, the service has always been some of the best in Southbay. Very highly recommend for all. There is also a cool kida menu. The guacamole is also the best.

Yelp
Erin and the team were absolutely slammed during the recent BeachLife Fest yet have the best customer service...and the tacos were delicious as usual!!!

Yelp
Taco me please!! After an 8 mile bike ride, my group and I decided to grab some tacos! Conveniently located right off the pier right behind the Stand House. We were seated right away and the place was just about packed. Unfortunately because of the full house service was extremely slow. It took about 15 minutes for us to get our orders in and another 20 minutes for the food to arrive. Once the food came we were happy and loving the food. We tried the shrimp tacos, grilled and fried fish tacos and strawberry agua Fresca with churros with no sugar. The best were the grilled fish tacos and they provided complimentary chips and salsa. It's quite pricey ($88) for 6 tacos, two frescas, churros and a tuna tostada. But we were full and happy to have tried something new.

Yelp
Was looking forward to some great tacos, but this is not the place. First off, they charge ridiculous prices for what you get. The carne asada was flavorless and needed to add the hot sauce provided just so that it tasted like something. The fish taco was good, but dry. Neither were worth the $7.75-$8.75 we paid for each taco. Second, the margarita was horrible. Costco's premade margarita is way better and actually has alcohol in it. This was sour and disappointing. Was wanting a beer, but they were switching out their beers, so I opted for a margarita instead. So if you want to pay for way overpriced tacos and margaritas that will leave you wondering why you came here in the first place, this would be the place for you. The only reason for the 2 stars is that the server was friendly and helpful.

Yelp
My son and I were in the mood for food and he mentioned a place we had never been... Tacolicious. They had catered to one of his summer skate camps and so he had tried their food before. Time for Dad to give them a shot too. The location is awesome. The staff was super nice. Great vibe. Clean and quick joint. Plenty of drink options. Look, I'm a guy who gladly exchanges money for quality. And almost $8 for a taco near the ocean would work IF they weren't so small. I mean, there was more onion than protein. They left a bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended. I am an accountant and business owner and fully get the overhead deal. But this felt exorbitant. That's my only ding. A great place to meet with a guest/buddy/date for lunch. I will be back. The tacos were delicious! As were the chips. Great if the person who puts the onions on the tacos switches with the person who puts the protein on the tacos.

Yelp
A lot of people judge a Mexican restaurant by their chips. So if you wanna judge the chips at Tacolicoous, then it's winner, winner, taco dinner! Tasty and crispy assorted tacos, great vibe and good service. Walking distance to watch sunset at the beach. Oh, and did I mention the CHIPS?!

Yelp
Went here tonight for Mother's Day. The food and the service was great!! But the manager (female with brown hair) was YELLING and cursing at the staff very loudly in front of customers and my 4 year old. She was extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. I felt so bad for the staff. She was really out of control.
google avatar

Yelp
BEST margs in the South Bay! This is a great place to come with a group or for happy hour! Everything is so fresh and I really enjoy getting a taco platter with friends - it's a better deal and we never leave hungry. Great vegetarian and meat options. I love the mint salsa and I wish it could be made into a Bloody Maria. The staff is so friendly and I enjoy coming with my dog- plenty of treats and water bowls and a welcome atmosphere. I hope a doggy menu is in the works!
google avatar

Pete R.

Yelp
The tacos here are fantastic and good service. Really love the margaritas here. Some of the best I have had. They really taste high quality and fresh. One of the best I have had. I really liked the queso as well and the carnitas tacos. I kept eating.
google avatar

Ryna D.

Yelp
Tried this spot for happy hour. They were quite busy but it was easy enough to find a spot at the bar. I had a margarita and some tostadas that were very good.
google avatar

Yelp
Ended up eating here by accident slash not many options of places to eat open apparently at 3pm in Manhattan Beach. Goes to show you how often I am in that area to know most places close after lunch and open for dinner later at night Anyways this place was indeed open Service was good we got seated right away and noticed the menu was definitely set for tacos mainly with some salads The tacos are quite expensive I'm not going to lie it was pretty pricey but at least they give you a good amount of filling but I do wish the tortillas felt a bit more heated up. Tortillas should always be heated up The guacamole was okay I mean I'm not used to having cumin which was pretty present but not entirely my style but still I didn't mind it terribly Overall it was a good choice and it did the trick for my eating needs
google avatar

Yelp
This is a fun taco place! Servers are so nice. The battered fish tacos are bomb- the Vampiro meat is a bit on the harder, chewy side. It's great to share the 10pcs taco plate. The margaritas are alright... it tastes a bit more watered down. Service was friendly. Ambiance is chill, this place gets busy for Taco Tuesdays and definitely the weekends!! Make a reservation. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Lots of parking meters and lots around for parking.
google avatar

Brendan L.

Yelp
Delicious food and beverages and super duper happy hour deals! They pour a great margarita and a really nice martini as well.

Yelp
Conveniently located a few blocks from the Manhattan beach pier, indoor and outdoor seating, straight forward menu with all the go to items. Ordered the 4 taco plate with the grilled baja fish and the carne asada. Served with a side of dipping sauces. The fish tacos were very good, light, juicy and flavorful - definitely recommend. The carne asada fell short both in flavor and preparation, they were chewy and tough and lacked a component in my opinion, we're also less than warm. The guacamole was super good, creamy and fresh, endless tortilla chips are served alongside. The atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon was delightful and easy. Gets a little loud due to tv screens and the full bar. All the drinks around us looked great but had to drive so skipped the drinks. A little on the pricey side but when in manhattan beach... you get the drift...
google avatar

Steve I.

Yelp
This place left a great impression last time I was here and today again it was great. Only thing I'd say they need to improve on is the tortilla chips they serve free at the onset don't taste much like corn. I got the chicken and egg soup, now the egg was cold, as a chef I know why..don't want to get into that...but anything cold in a hot soup..well... I did enjoy it. I also got the coffee liquor drink they placed in the dessert section of the menu, it was awesome. Refreshing and light. Service top notch. Manhattan Beach is becoming a real food destination.
google avatar

Yelp
We saw this place by the beach today and decided to stop..When I tell you the tacos were off the chain they was off the chain..Braised beef and the fish ones
google avatar

Yelp
I have eaten at Tacolicious a few times now in Manhattan Beach... The food is incredible and the service was excellent! The restaurant is so good, I even bought their cookbook and have used it many times at home... The queso is out of this world! 5 stars for this place- Can't wait to go back!!
google avatar

Yelp
Came on a Saturday with our dog for some drinks. Was given chips and salsa and the chips are not super fresh. The salsa taste like it is made with tomatillos. The server was very friendly, but it took a long time to get our drink. We ordered a bloody Mary, but they don't have it on the menu right for it not being on the menu it sure turned out pretty good and they were more than happy to make it, there wasn't any fancy garnish like we were looking for but again it wasn't on the menu. We got a little warm as we were sitting out on the sidewalk and there's no umbrellas but we have a dog so we're happy they were able to accommodate us, they even brought her a bowl of water.
google avatar

Monica P.

Yelp
Crazy prices for small small tacos!! All portions are little!! Non traditional refried beans were watery like it was soup! Started with "table fresh guacamole" was NOT!! It came so fast and nothing in it?? No onions, no Cilantro, no seasonings, no peppers! Just blah! All of it just blah! Chips were stale!! Service sucks! 2 cokes were as much as dinner plate at a restaurant! Very disappointed! Three of us, 2 soft drinks, 1 guacamole, 1 beans, and 10 mini tacos all cost one hundred and fifty!! We could have ate up the street and had fresh food that had flavor and not stale chips!! We will never return
google avatar

Priya C.

Yelp
First off, I want to say it's so cute! The ambiance is definitely lovely and the location is prime. Service was decent as well. But the food? For $7.45 a taco, you can get unseasoned meat (for all of the meats! Chicken, pork, and carne asada!) with limited toppings. Unseasoned! How are you going to make a chicken taco where the chicken is still white? My fish taco was good because the fish was nicely seasoned and perfectly grilled. But the Baja sauce has quite literally no flavor. And the pickled onions are not pickled. They also put mint in the salsa and rice which is fine but not really authentic. The hot sauces were better than the tacos but honestly would only rate 3/5. Anyway! Much love to tacolicious if that's what you want, but definitely not worth the $30 I spent for eating 3 tacos and some rice. Felt like a waste of a Mexican meal during our short time in LA
google avatar

Sophia K.

Yelp
We got 20 tacos for the table and it was well priced when we split it. A little more on the pricey side. My favorite was the spicy shrimp. The service was a little slow but it was also 6-man and dinner time. Margaritas are delicious and the mucho gusto was absolutely refreshing. Would come back again!

Yelp
Expecting people to pay $10 or more per taco (after tax and tip) makes a bold statement. Add the proudly displayed cookbook to the vibe, and you're at least claiming that your tacos are very special indeed. Well, imo they are not special. I'm not saying they're not good - 'cause they are, but are they better than a taqueria charging a third of this places prices? No. In fact the most memorable thing I will take away from my tacolicious experience is the bewilderment at the price. Not that they need to do anything about it. There are more than enough people willing to fork out the big bucks. So respect. And the salsa is also good, not any better than a good taqueria imo, but good.

Fa A.

Yelp
Stupid food prices for what you get. Food is too "white" people food. I rather eat Taco Bell thank this BS. Total slap in the face to Mexican culture. Tacos shouldn't be this expensive. Ambiance sucked too. Not friendly staff.
google avatar

M C.

Yelp
I'll just get to the point, the meat in the tacos wasn't good. The carnitas were dry, and the chicken tinga was bland. My sister said the lamb birrira was good. They serve the lemonade in a glass made for a cocktail, so after 5 sips, you're waiting for a refill, and the lemonade also wasn't sweet. I'm assuming they are catering to the taste buds of the locals, as they should. I just won't be a repeat customer. Felt like I wasted $185 as we all left unsatisfied and still wanting something to eat. On the positive side, the handmade tortillas were good and the staff was attentive.
google avatar

Denise V.

Yelp
They give us free chips and salsa. I ordered the frozen flight and my husband got the Pasion which had a really strong kick (spice). My flight was great the verano was a classic margarita. The frozen pasion was the best!!! It was tangy and tart and yummy!!! The tamarindo was very sweet and u can taste the cinnamon type of syrup. We got the guacamole and chips...BOMBs get it. Love stopping by. Get Mo as the bartender!!

Yelp
After bike crusin from Redondo beach to the edge of Playa del rey and back we decided to stop at Manhattan beach for some tacos! With a few to choose from, I went with my gut and decided to stop here. Let me just say its a very modern and casual spot. They have outdoor seating; dog friendly yay! The hostess was nice enough to allow our bikes near the table. I explained that we were doing a food tour and only wanted a tasting. Ordered ... Baja Style pacific cod - cabbage, cumin crema $6.75 I don't remember ever paying so much for a Baja Style Taco. The taco itself had wonderful presentation but, it's a small street taco, I didn't expect that. It had a slight fish smell.. If you've eaten enough fish tacos then one should know it shouldn't have that. Lastly, it needed salt and I get it, no salt and pepper on the table because the food is seasoned well. Unfortunately, this wasn't. Margarita Fresca - Pueblo Viejo Blanco, pineapple, lime, mint, chia seeds $14.50 The Margarita was delicious and refreshing after a bike ride. I would love to try other margaritas on the menu. Complimentary Chips and Salsa - Chips and salsa was the best! I could've just come here for this and I would have been happy Final thoughts - We wanted to try the CHUPITOS $4 for $16, $8 for $28 and so forth, sounds like a flight right? Our server recommended we not get it because you have to get the same flavor, its only good for big parties. I've come to the conclusion that tacolicious gear towards bigger groups but I also think they should consider parties of 2. When I arrived on a Thursday afternoon, that's all there was.... Just parties of 2.

Cooper A.

Yelp
Service is good. Food was absolute dog water. Tacos same out cold. Guac was flavorless. My favorite part was leaving. Would not recommend

Yelp
Lucky Sunday! We had tried to eat here about a month ago but was so busy. After sunset on Sunday, we got a patio table right away. We did the 10 taco order. We all had a different margarita and all three were good. I had the house margarita and found it just right. I went for fried cod taco, broiled cod, and spicy shrimp. We shared a side of Brussel sprouts. I thought they were undercooked but friends thought otherwise. Nice open air and patio dining in MB which has so many good options.
google avatar

Meghan S.

Yelp
Tried MB Tacolicious last night with a few friends and our tacos were superb! Also highly recommend the Mucho Gusto margarita Great service and also vibed out to the music , overall great food and atmosphere!
google avatar

Andi B.

Yelp
We stumbled on this by accident. It was crowded so we figured it was good. We were so right! Friendly, efficient service. Yummy food. My daughter's beef tacos were to-die-for. My husband and I got the quinoa bowl - great combo of flavors and textures.

Anjilla P.

Yelp
Discovered these guys at BeachLife Fest a couple weeks ago. I got the Carnitas tacos and they were fantastic and the salsas were to die for! All the staff were super friendly - shoutout to Erin who really made my day w her exemplary customer service and recommendations! I look forward to stopping in the MB location soon for more of the same great food and service !

Pete E.

Yelp
Great Margs and Tacos by the beach! Was my go to at Beachlife for better than all other festival food! Staff is always amazing and wonderful!
google avatar

Madison D.

Yelp
Oh man, you just can't go wrong with T-Lish. I've been here probably a dozen times and it literally never disappoints. Although all of the tacos are incredible, something is special about those carnitas tacos. The chorizo is also a very close second and incredibly tasty. The meat is beyond flavorful and totally fresh tasting. Bottomless chips and salsa are complimentary and always top-notch. It always comes with a side of limes and salsas. The yellow habanero, and orange sauce are my personal favorites and give it a spicy kick. I love to get 2 carnitas and a side of the refried beans. The guacamole and queso is also delicious. Service is always great - friendly staff and quick turnaround time. Parking is hit or miss in this area of Manhattan Beach, but you can always count on a fun atmosphere since it's located in a fun, popping area near the pier. Will continue coming back!

Jeannine C.

Yelp
Tacolicious is a must stop when I am visiting the South Bay. I could eat their carnita tacos daily! Also a big fan of the queso, chicken tacos, and margs. The Mucho Gusto marg is amazing! Great service and vibes here too.
google avatar

Andy O.

Yelp
Seriously came because my knees were ashy and they had aveeno here on deck & since I was hungry and had the tacos and Omy gosh they were fire mixed with the lotion it gave it a unique taste
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Delicious drinks and wonderful service. I was just having drinks tonight and will be back again soon.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
I came with my family last night to celebrate my birthday. Parking is hit or miss. There is a street parking and parking lots, both with meters. We ordered a bunch of different tacos to split between all 12 of us the best tacos (pictured) to me were the chorizo and potatoes tacos and the vampiro taco, which was my favorite. The guacamole was fresh and the owner introduced himself to us and brought us 4 different salsas at different spicy levels; Much appreciated. Oh, and he gave us some grilled jalapeños to put into one of the salsas. I will say that they brought our tacos at different times and we lost track of some of the tacos and no one knew what was what; but everyone left full. And! They don't have a phone to call. If you have any questions, you have to email them. Overall, one of the best authentic tacos spots in the South Bay. I'd definitely go back for the tacos and for the breakfast menu.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
I was a little apprehensive about this spot as I had never heard of it before and the name of it, "Tacoliciois," doesn't make you feel like you're going to be enjoying authentic Mexican cuisine. Growing up in SoCal, you eat a lot of Mexican food and chips and salsa are usually a good indicator of what the rest of the food is going to be like and I was scared because their salsa isn't the best. Fortunately, the beverages I had soon after gave me hope. Sangria and Paloma are amazing and I love when a bar has actual squirt to make a real Paloma. My buddy and I ordered 4 tacos and split them. I had the Traditional Carnitas, which was greasy and delicious and the Vampiro. The latter was my favorite. It's griddled pepper jack, carne asada, roasted tomato-habanero salsa. It was so god I ordered another! We sat at the bar that's decorated with awesome Dodger bobble heads, with a player even holding the lgbt+ flag, so points for that! Our bartender was super engaging and fun and other employees were attentive and made sure your chip basket didn't stay empty too long. This is super fun spot with a great atmosphere.
google avatar

Neda C.

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill in the last couple of months. Seems to be the new manager. We had the displeasure of dealing with her and she really should not be in customer service. She had Karen energy X1000. Very aggressive from the start. Hoping that the owner replaces her and the vibe gets back to why we used to love this place. Unfortunately after years of going we'll never be returning. Service is terrible too as others have mentioned.
google avatar

Nick G.

Yelp
Nice little spot! The day we dropped in the music was I bit too loud and someone must of hit the repeat button, because we kept hearing Rihanna hits in rotation. Server was cool, but that was the last we heard from him, ordered our drinks and dude ghosted us. Ended up asking someone else for our drinks. Salsa and chips is really good, but the tacos could use some work! You'd think the tacos would come out with some aesthetically pleasing garnish, but other than the freshly made tortilla the tacos were bland. Definitely makes you question the price!

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Nick is the nicest bartender I have ever met. He was so accommodating and was willing to go above and beyond for me to enjoy my experience. Amazing drinks and food as well!

Thomas T.

Yelp
I'm going to start off with if you like paying a Fortune for tacos, this is your spot. The food is solid, however I can't justify the price when the tacos aren't crazy good. Still giving 4 stars due to the food, staff and general ambiance. Just need some lower prices but I understand, Manhattan beach is becoming so expensive for rent, especially downtown.
google avatar

Kimber R.

Yelp
A fun little spot in Manhattan Beach. We met some friends for lunch and were so glad they suggested to eat here. Not a lot of tables, but on a summer Friday at 1pm, we were able to get a spot right away. Parking can be a bit rough though. What we ordered: Queso with chorizo- So. Good! 5 of us eating it and we didn't even finish. Side of rice- I'm a big rice fan and a little(lot) picky, this was fantastic. Little bit of spice and a whole lot of flavor! Tacos!- We got a few different choices. The 4 for $25 is a great deal. My favorite was the chicken tinga and the chorizo! The sauce from the chicken tinga was so yummy. They also bring you a flight of salsa for your tacos, which was perfection. Service was a little slow, but our waitress was so sweet. Definitely a spot I can see us being regulars at.
google avatar

Char B.

Yelp
Super exceeded expectations. I mean don't get me wrong, food looked great on prior yelp reviews, but man ohh man. Amazing guest service provided by Eliza! Her recommendations were on point!!!! We had the 10 taco flight, ohh mmm gee. The chupito flight, and for the appetizer the guac, chile con queso and black beans trio. Chips made fresh.. everything made fresh! I do not know where to start with the well put together flavors! The freshness! The yum yum and more yum! Oh must not forget the beautiful evening vibes, lighting, superb diverse music selections. All staff demonstrated great team collab and we were welcomed like family. Eliza thanks for such an amazing first experience, looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Maynor and Keton are the best people in the business and I love them! They made my birthday so fun. Good vibes Thank you guys Oh and the food was amazing

Colleen M.

Yelp
If you asked me when we started going here, we would have given it 6 stars so good! Now the menu is different. No flavor, meat it the chicken tacos is the cheap kind. The beef tacos were dry and were only topped with onions? Waaay too expensive for street tacos. Bummer.

Astkhik M.

Yelp
The food didn't taste good. The price is outrageous. I was surprised the rating is so high though. Go, taco trucks.
google avatar

Harrison K.

Yelp
AWESOME FOOD!! Great quality, and they give you good portion sizes for tacos. We had the queso dip, and about 6 tacos. Pro tip: use the queso dip for your cheese on the tacos! The salsa was nice and sweet, definitely plan to go back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Didn't expect this place to taste as good and be as fresh as it was. Our food and dining experience exceeded our expectations (since we thought it just another taco chain) The Margarita's are fresh with a lot of flavor. You can taste fresh mango in the mango margarita, and even in the others drinks they are really refreshing Chips and salsa were surprisingly good, chips had a nice crunch. The salsa was on the thicker side but still had a lot of flavor Guacamole tasted fresh(they don't use tomatoes) All of ours tacos were pretty good. The only one that was just normal was the shrimp tacos. The only tip I would give is if your group is ordering tacos you can ask them to split the board so everyone's taco doesn't come on one platter.
