Three Dallas Restaurant Openings Diners Need to Know - Eater Dallas

"Not too far away from Victory Park, Tacolingo brings a brand new option for tacos and margaritas to the neighborhood. The restaurant announced its March 26 debut on Facebook, and is now slinging dishes like Buffalo chicken tacos, ceviche, and fajita boards served with sizzling wagyu skirt steak, grilled chicken, shrimp, and more. On the boozy side of the menu, find cocktails like the Bourbon Burro (bourbon, smoked agave, ginger, and sparkling water) and a margarita made with “elotes cordial” and fresh pineapple juice." - Amy McCarthy

During a whirlwind 24 hours in Dallas for a friends birthday we wanted to try some local Mexican fair within a 10 minute walk of our hotel and TacoLingo was top of the list. Making a stop in the middle of a Friday afternoon we definitely were one of the very few and were able to appreciate the size and the aesthetics, the multitude of TVs with sports and movies alike, and tall ceilings with garage doors that opened to the courtyard of The Union really gave this TexMex restaurant at Texas sized feel. Our waitress Emily was very attentive and friendly and have to make the experience and enjoyable one. Now onto the meal! The flavorful salsa (and had about 3 bowls full 😂), the rich smokey flavor of the queso, and the very fresh, very crisp chips were a great start to the meal. We ordered drinks at the same time as the appetizers and took quite a while to be brought out for beer and my wife's espresso martini but it seemed making fresh coffee slowed things down. For the main course we ordered the steak quesadilla, which continued with the smokey flavor with chipotle sauce along with the steak & cheese was black beans, got something you typically see but it added a lot of density and richness to the meal. Overall very happy with the experience and definitely would not only return but highly recommended to others!

Google
We really enjoyed the food, drinks, location, and overall ambiance of this restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed my enchiladas, and my wife loved her bacon, egg, and cheese tacos. The service was on point, and the food came out rather quickly regardless of us arriving for lunch on a Saturday. 🌮

I know it’s a little late to put this review, I’ve had a busy week. But I couldn’t just not, not leave a review. I went and celebrated my birthday last Sunday, June 1 and I just wanted to say that it was an amazing experience! Our Server Karen, was it absolutely delight! She was on top of everything and gave great service. On top of The Great service, the manager, Jessica was amazing. She was very attentive and made sure that my special day went as smoothly as possible and as amazing as possible! I definitely will be coming back again especially for those amazing Chicken and waffle tacos And that watermelon jalapeño margarita, See you soon taco lingo!

Google
Great Tex-Mex spot in Uptown! Wide variety of options with all the classic Tex-Mex dishes. Prices aren’t expensive at all for what you get!! Loved the tacos! Service was also excellent, we were happily seated and served quickly with over 15 people at one table!

Google
Amazing space! They have indoor and outdoor seating and the place is gorgeous! The food was fantastic, the drinks were delicious, fresh bright wines. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back.

Google
Pretty decent Mexican restaurants, they are really strict about ID for alcohol consumption so make sure you bring it with you

Google
Nice spot hidden away downtown. $7 margarita happy hours all day Sat & Sun make this a go-to. Jessica made us feel right at home and the patio was perfect for this beautiful weather! Tacos were pretty great also!

Google
The food was great. It came out hot fresh sizzling. I got the burrito with queso. Very delicious I loved it! The service was great! Shout out to TJ!!! He was very kind and lively! He made sure me and my friends had a great time. The manager Jessica came over and she was very nice.

Yelp
Go for the food and stay for the vibe. Bartender Joey is the best! He will make any drink you ask. Best carnita tacos!

Yelp
Taco Lingo is a cool place if you're looking for a bite to eat and a decent margarita! I do wish their portions were a little bit bigger for the price, but luckily the flavor is good. If I'm ever in that area and I need food and drinks, I would definitely come back.

Yelp
First time getting Tex Mex in Dallas! Food was good - great tacos and beans. Portion size was big and I got really full. The tacos were good as they were cooked on the pan with cheese and had good toppings although a bit greasy. Good place for drinks and food.

Yelp
I returned to Taco Lingo to dine in and let me tell you my meal was wonderful. I have found it hard to get good tex-mex outside of Texas and Lingo hit the spot. I went with the chicken fajitas and that passionate desire for good tex-mex that I have been craving was finally quenched. The oh so flavorful, seasoned, and savory chicken along with well caramelized bell peppers and onions was a hit. The entree came with beans and rice that were so so, but the fajitas made up for everything else that was lacking. The portion side was on the large side and I left a happy, full, and satisfied customer. Service was commendable.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. great service. Cool vibe. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere and also enjoy sporting events on TV and still receive great service.

Yelp
Service was nice, everyone liked what they ordered! 4 of us went before a concert at house of blues - two of my friends got the half moon nachos which were piled high with lots of goodness - unfortunately it was just sitting on top instead of being mixed in, so it was the top layer that tasted great. My speciality tacos were great - I had the carne asada and the sweet and spicy chicken. So good! My other friend had the fajitas. We sat outside and even with it being so hot, the buildings shade the patio and they have umbrellas and misters going. It was nice! Watermelon margarita with tajin rim was excellent. We were in the moment so I completely forgot to take pictures!

Yelp
Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. My husband and I visited during one of our mid week dates and they did not disappoint. The weather was nice so we sat outside to eat. Will definitely be going back.

Yelp
Kiddos & I met my hubby here for lunch during his work day. Straight to the point- the food was fresh, yummy & the place was clean. I'd say the prices were typical Dallas prices (higher than other areas). I'd recommend it for yummy chips & salsa as well as the food. More detail & specific to our experience... It was pretty quiet for a Wednesday at 11:30am and slightly picked up when we were leaving around 12:30pm. The service was quick & efficient although I would not describe it as friendly. No one was unkind, but our server appeared "over it" and was clearly not used to serving kids - we needed extra time to figure out what everyone was eating & he came to the table every 2-3min asking if we were ready yet. Keep in mind we were his only table so there shouldn't have been a rush. Once our food was brought to the table I don't recall our server coming back until he brought the check. He didn't even ask if we wanted dessert or anything else, just showed up with the check & asked if we wanted to pay (they do it at the table). I don't think we will come back, it wasn't worth the cost for me, but I would recommend it for others for the reasons I listed above.

Yelp
Taco Lingo is tucked into the Union Square off Cedar Springs and Akard. The new bar manager Jenna is absolutely amazing and makes you feel so welcomed! The new holiday cocktail (Pera Navidad) literally tastes like Christmas and is not something to pass up. I made a yelp just to give them a review. We came after a stars game while they were busy and received the best service still! Adriana is also the go to bartender. We absolutely love her!
google avatar

Roselyn A.

Yelp
Dope Tex- Mex spot . We got steak on our nachos and my boyfriend said it was "fire." The nachos can definitely feed 2 people. I was full after eating it. The margaritas are definitely strong so you do get the bang for your buck. Overall , a good place to dine
google avatar

Yelp
Like tacos. Want fast service in a nice place. Great taste of food and comes with great prices
google avatar

Caroline Z.

Yelp
Very very mediocre steak Fajitas. The steak was overcooked and very lacking in flavor. The onions and bell peppers were great though! Great chips and the salsa has the perfect kick to it. Flour tortillas were just alright
google avatar

Faz K.

Yelp
I'm still a huge fan of Taco Lingo. They have a new menu now and it's breakfast all day so to me you can't go wrong with that. Unfortunately the prices did go up in some items but given the times it's remarkable they held out as long as they did on the old prices. So on to breakfast for lunch. So far I've had the brisket and egg burrito which you should get with extra drizzle/sauce and the ranchero plate. Neither has disappointed. The food is consistently delicious here and the service is always great. They do a good job here.

Becky L.

Yelp
We used to love coming here on Sundays for margaritas, but the service has gone downhill. Today, the bartender showed up late, so the margarita machine wasn't ready. Our drinks came out melted, and when we asked for them to be remade, he argued they were fine and refused. Really disappointing experience.

Yelp
Came by for taco Tuesday, but was met with horrible service and overpriced tacos. Server seemed out of it and took ages to take our order, place our order, and give us our check. We ordered 2 orders of tacos and it took over 30 minutes to come out. The buffalo chicken taco was tasty, but can pay half the price at velvet taco for the same taco. Also ordered the Carnita tacos, we thought we ordered the $3 carnita taco but the waiter said we ordered the full price specality one, so we ended up not even getting the taco Tuseday deal.
google avatar

Jenai B.

Yelp
Carne asada taco is absolutely divine! Freaking delicious! The kitchen did mess up our order several times, but our waitresses was super attentive and kind and took care of everything immediately. Would definitely return

Jace M.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was great! My favorite was the mashed black beans and chicken enchiladas! We would definitely return. :)
google avatar

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while traveling for business. Excellent service at eve bar, good food, great price point. Taco Tuesday was a plus at $3 tacos. Smokey queso is a must! Taco soup was very hearty and chunky, but good. Skinny margaritas were excellent! Loved the atmosphere... loud music, but not excessive. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
the food great the bartender greater, i live upstairs and i will be coming often!! love the whole feel of the place!!!

Yelp
We stumbled across this place since we were looking for a place to eat before a Mavs game and man did it not disappoint. I didn't really have high expectations since I thought it would be like your typical Tex-Mex place but really surprised me instead. We arrived during brunch happy hour so the mimosas, frose's and bloody Mary's are $3. I got a pineapple mimosa and a frose, delicious! My husband got a Mexican mule which was really good too. I ordered the miga breakfast taco but I wanted to try another taco but didn't want to order so much food so the waiter told me he could give me one miga taco and for the other he recommended the chicken waffle (which is actually a pancake in the shape of a taco) the chicken waffle sounded like a bit too much for me but I said I would try it, to my surprise it was super tasty! The order comes with a side of potatoes but they ran out so they substituted with fries which was fine. My husband got the brisket taco and a buffalo chicken one, he loved them! They had so much flavor, he only wished they were bigger. His tacos came with a side of rice and beans which had perfect seasoning and for a Mexican that's a big deal! We could also tell the flour tortillas were fresh or handmade and sure enough the waiter told us they make them in house-which we always love a Tex mex place that makes their own instead of store bought! Thank you!! All in all-I'd make the drive to come back here again!!

Yelp
I enjoyed dining at Taco Lingo. The music was great, the waitress was fabulous and the drinks and food were good. As indicated in other reviews, the patio seating is nice. Great for people watching as well as fresh air while dining. The only thing that I will say issssss, my drink came out a little over half way full. I was up charged for requesting 2 flavors so I felt like I deserved a full glass. I asked the waitress if the drinks normally come out in this manner and she agreed that I deserved more (smile). She took the drink back filled it and also added a strawberry and other garnishes to the drink. This made me happy! This is definitely an establishment that I'd return to. Hopefully for brunch pretty soon.

Yelp
Came in for my brother's birthday and they had us seated immediately! Gave us complimentary waters and it was a nice experience bc some of the family never experienced a dine in like that. Our waitress was in training so whoever the older man was that was training her he did an amazing job! I got the fajitas and they were delicious! The rice was a little sweet which was unusual to me and the beans weren't my favorite. They were also nice enough to put some queso in a small separate bowl bc i don't eat red meat and their queso comes with meat. My bf got a bacon burger and fries. Fries were fresh! My brother got carnitas tacos; he loved the beans so i ended up giving him mine. Outside they have a beautiful small courtyard! Overall it was a good experience!
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
Happy hour. Go for happy hour with reduced taco prices and good prices on drinks, including Margaritas. There are misters on the patio if you sit outside in the Dallas heat. Dog friendly.
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite go to spots if you're looking for a patio scene! The food and drinks are good. The price is affordable compared to some of the other nearby restaurants. I especially love that they accommodate my vegan diet with swaps. Every waiter I've had has been able to offer me different options to customize my meal. I love that! My favorite is their Tempura Avocado Tacos. If you are looking for specials throughout the week, they got you covered. Another plus is the parking is in the same building. It helps with the downtown struggle for nearby parking.

Michelle F.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots in Dallas. The customer service is always perfect. The food is fresh and they bring out the food pretty quickly. My favorite is the crispy tacos, the mashed black beans and rice. The free chips and salsa is always great. Also, my favorite drink is the roasted strawberry lemonade. I highly recommend trying this place out!
google avatar

Julian R.

Yelp
Tucked in a little corner, is this community taco spot is everything you'd need and more. Taco Tuesdays are a must, with soft and crunchy corn tortilla options. The staff is very friendly and prompt. The food comes out in a jiffy, and the margaritas fit any tastebud.
google avatar

Marilyn E.

Yelp
It was Okay... I mean it's Mexican food. I was hoping for the best. But between mediocre service, quality of food and the prices of everything going up day by day! I really wanted to like this place. But for (3) tacos and beans / rice, $15.95. STOP!!!!!!!! Not to mention they had about a teaspoon serving of meat on them. Flavorful. Certainly a rip-off, though. Tacos were on special for $3.00, I had three of them. So, are you telling me $6.95 for a small serving of rice / beans??? Not sure if I'll be back.
google avatar

Isamar B.

Yelp
Gave them a second chance and everything was awesome from service to food. The taste is unbeatable. We got the fajitas and they tasted housemade. Everything was fresh and there restrooms where so clever ! Definetly will be back.
google avatar

Kait J.

Yelp
We stopped here after watching a movie for an early dinner. Our drinks, service, and food were all top notch! You can also get your parking verified for free!

Yelp
This was a last minute decision to try this place. I had a table of 7, 6 adults and one child. We set down and the host came over to tell us that a party of 5 or larger the ticket has to be on one bill. I was confused because this this is not even a 5 star restaurant to not be able to break down tickets.. you would only need to break down 3 different ways. I asked to speak to the manager, who was very rude by the way. He had a smirk the who time. I asked on the reason the ticket could not broken down. He just couldn't. He stated what I can do is break the ticket down 3 ways evenly. That wasn't going work. He said it's because I would have to go in the system 3 different times for split the meals and I don't "want to do that". I just walked away. The food came out which was okay. You could tell it was sitting there for a minute because my rice and tacos were cold. The only thing hot on my plate was beans. Our friend got a bowl of tortillas soup. She said it was not good at all. She explained to the waiter, that it wasn't good and she doesn't want it. He asked her "why", not a I'm so sorry could I get you anything else, just a "why" and "I'll see if I can take it off the bill". They were able to take it off. The same manager I asked to speak with about breaking down the check is the one who brought over the check once I asked for it. Thought it was very spiteful, because he never came to our table to accommodate us once. I knew from that moment I wouldn't be back. The vibe was off the whole time, not sure if it was the color of our skin or what. But we won't be back. Not very welcoming at all.

A. R.

Yelp
Good food! I ordered the 2 for 1 margaritas (mango + strawberry) as well as an order of chicken enchiladas which were pretty tasty. They used a white sauce instead of a red sauce, but otherwise I enjoyed the flavor. They give wayyyy more beans than rice but overall the portion size was good, along with me eating a lot of chips & salsa. I would go back. Not the most clean restaurant but the servers were pretty nice.
google avatar

Alicia F.

Yelp
Picking up the family at the airport and then staying in Dallas I had to think fast on where to take them as I knew they would be hungry. I picked this location b/c they close pretty late which means late eaters means great food. And I was right, for a party of 10 we were seated quickly and we couldn't get enough of the queso and guac. The food was pretty good except I didn't like the rice at all. Oh did I mention that the service was amazing, it was late and hot but the waiter did his thing. Thanks Taco Lingo!
google avatar

Janelle J.

Yelp
Went here right when they opened on a Saturday. So only one other party there. Service was very good. They came out with chips and salsa and you can tell chips we're fresh and just made. On weekends they have $3 mimosas or bloody Mary's or you can buy a carafe for $12.. such a good price. The huevos con carnitas we're excellent, and so was the fresh tortillas it came with. I didn't love the churro donut holes as they were too big and bit doughy would've liked it to be smaller and more airy. Other than that a great spot especially for brunch! The vibe and ambiance was awesome. I would be back next time in Dallas.

Ashleigh H.

Yelp
Andie M is rude . Barely checked on us .. only 4 but because we had kids they added the grat ! He gave me the worst experience here ! The manager also said because i was pregnant it count as 2 people to add to the tab for grat, smh .
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
Trendy vibe, patio is nice but it's pretty loud. We made a reservation for 6:15 on a Sunday and the theme for the night was waiting. We waited to talk to the hostess, to be seated afterwards, to order, for food, and even had to chase our server down with our credit card to pay. I assume they were short handed but from the time we ordered, we didn't see our server again. Food was fine but not phenomenal. Prices were pretty reasonable. Parking is validated if you park in the garage.
google avatar

Charis S.

Yelp
Our waiter Rachel was bomb! She made the experience so pleasant and friendly! THEN, she surprised us with these huge, hot & fresh, cinnamon rolls (complimentary during brunch) ... what a sweet surprise! So many delicious looking tacos, specialty ones too. The sweet chili shrimp taco was really good! Loved the sweet chili sauce with the crunchy fried shrimp and the fresh slaw. Really really good! This spot is really cute! Good music, super festive!
google avatar

Aryelle S.

Yelp
I've only been here once but I'll definitely be back. Their happy hour prices for the food and drinks is great. The steak taco was my favorite.
google avatar

Noel P.

Yelp
Perfect place to pop in for lunch! The tacos are delicious and in Tuesday's they have $2 tacos. I got a sweet and spicy shrimp taco, crunchy beef taco and chicken taco- super flavorful and the tortillas seem to be authentic. I also got the elotes which were tasty but the corn was a little dry. I think next time I'll try to fish taco as well.

Jenny A.

Yelp
Love love loved this place for brunch!! Super cute atmosphere, complimentary chips and salsa, cheap drinks, and delicious food. Great service too. Will be back!!

Yelp
I decided to try this spot for early dinner because I love me some tacos lol, It's in a great location with other restaurants around it and easy to find. I called ahead of time Because I figured Friday night after 5pm might be busy. After someone answered, we asked about making a reservation, but the answer was no reservation needed, and it's not busy at that moment, so why not just go now? Were our thoughts because it's our first time going here and it's a Friday night could be the location gets an after-work rush, right. So we decided let's head on over there. Found it easy. Walking up outside was empty, but the weather was a bit warmer, at least for me, it was lol. Not many people so that's good they aren't busy. We walk in, and the host greets us. Guess what's the first thing she asks. Do you have a reservation - yup, she did. I said no. We were told no reservation was needed. She then proceeds to scroll her tablet. Did I mention that there weren't a lot of people outside? Well, it was the same inside. Lots of seating open, or they could be reserved, not sure even though one wasn't needed when we called. And it was maybe a little after 6pm when we got there. Moving on, she tells us right this way we follow her passing a few empty tables. The host found the right one for us right next to all the other customers that were there enjoying their Friday night. No problem, we got seated and right away got the menu, and water along with chips while we decide on drinks. We got our food right away, and honestly, the quality wasn't good at all. It came out faster than it took to get my one drink which was water down blended ice and mango margarita no flavor at all. And the order was wrong, but in any case, at this point, we are just ready to leave. The server didn't follow up if everything was okay after we received the food. But I'm guessing it was busy with the few tables there, maybe 6 or 7 max at that time with the 3 or 4 servers I saw. And I would say this is more of a light bite place or grab a drink to a sport even not a place you would go to eat if your hungry honestly, that street taco wasn't giving what it should if I can say that. And i figured maybe tonight was an off night but wouldn't be a place I would return to
google avatar

Pranav A.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning when most restaurants in the area were packed. Taco Lingo was surprisingly not packed at all, and my group of 6 was seated immediately. Service was fast and friendly as well. The food was delicious. The half moon nachos are a must get. We almost finished them within 5 minutes of getting the plate. The shrimp tacos were also amazing, and I wish I had gotten more than one. The street tacos were tasty, but I wish they were a little bigger. Overall, Taco Lingo is a delicious and great Tex-mex restaurant that you must visit if you are in Dallas. It is much better than the usual Tex-mex restaurants most people will recommend.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place simply by the smell. We had an awful experience at a place next door and decided to try it out because you cannot go wrong with tacos! We were greeted by the host and taken immediately to our table. We had to sanitize our hands and our server came to get our drink orders. They have $5 house margaritas all day so that was the choice and they were delicious! I ordered the steak and avocado taco, the carne asada taco, Mexican rice and mashed black beans! The food came out and it was SO yummy! The flavours were really great and everything was seasoned so well. Great atmosphere with lovely Latin music playing all night. We were socially distanced from others and enjoyed ourselves. Our server (Ivy) was awesome and overall it was a great night and experience.
google avatar

Shreya Rani A.

Yelp
Great outdoor atmosphere on a Friday night! We got the nachos and devoured them, Highly recommend! Vegetarian here so the avocado tempura tacos were a hit and we liked the cheese enchiladas as well! Beans are vegetarian- yay! Got the margarita pitcher, and enjoyed it, but gave a 4-rating because would have liked the drinks to be a little stronger. Also because a vegetarian rice option would have been appreciated! Still a great place to go!
google avatar

Khadijah C.

Yelp
Food was solid as a rock. Could not even pull apart my nachos. Call the manager and was told there was nothing he could do. DO NOT RECOMMEND AND A WASTE OF $20.
google avatar

Scarlett B.

Yelp
Food is excellent but service was so sub par have to rate this 3 stars. Saw our server 2x in one hour and drinks were never refilled. If you have an alcoholic drink though management will circle you like hawks waiting for you to finish the last drop so they can offer you another but ignore your empty water, tea or soda glass. Environment is very loud and I'm in my 20's so it's not an age thing. Lots of TVs showing sports. If you are in the area try it out but nothing to go out of your way for yet.
google avatar

Kelli J.

Yelp
I visited taco lingo for brunch because... $3 mimosas and $2 frose. With deals like that it doesn't take much to convince me to try a place. The frose was just okay, a little sweet for me. The mimosas were good, and a pretty decent pour for $3! Their focus here is mostly on tacos, they do serve a few other dishes like salads, steak and eggs, etc. We shared the chips and queso - very good! For my entree I got the bacon, egg and avocado taco and the buffalo chicken taco. OMG the buffalo chicken was by far my favorite. So flavorful! Served with blue cheese, avocado ranch and a carrot/celery topping. Wow. Just wow. It was good! The tacos are big! And the prices are very reasonable. Definitely visits

Yelp
Love Taco Lingo! I'd say it is underrated, I never understand why many people in Dallas don't know about it or suggest it. It is a perfect place for before a game or event at the American Airlines Center. They have a great happy hour, an awesome menu, friendly staff, and a fun and unique atmosphere. The location is also great.. I love sitting outside and being in the middle of the "courtyard" area, where The Henry and North Italia also face. They also validate garage parking, so no need to pay extra.
google avatar

Kristopher W.

Yelp
I checked out this Taco Lingo restaurant that is in downtown Dallas. I like the atmosphere because you are right in the middle of downtown and they had the walls open to the outside seating. It was great weather for it. I ordered a margarita, queso and chicken enchiladas. All of my food was pretty good and filling. The margarita was strong which was a plus. The only thing that I feel could have been improved was the customer service. Our waitress was not very attentive. Other than that the experience was good.
