"One of the most talked-about restaurants in Jacksonville is Taco Lu. The popular taco restaurant sells individual tacos with various toppings, from fish tacos with seared ahi tuna and wasabi soy crema to avocado tacos topped with cilantro-lime vinaigrette and cotija cheese. Most of the tacos on the menu are around $5, so ordering a few will still bring the bill under $10 before tipping, of course." - Megan duBois

Google
We are visiting the area, and a friend suggested TacoLu as a good place to meet for dinner, and it did not disappoint!! The waitress was wonderful. She made sure we didn't have any questions and even made a drink suggestion for me. Everything we ordered from the street corn to all the different tacos was amazing!!! I wanted a photo with our friends because we hadn't seen each other in 15 years, so our waitress said she would take one for us in a great spot after we ate. Everything was wonderful, from the great service to the delicious food!!! If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be back!!

Google
We stopped in for lunch and it was delicious. The service was top notch. 100+ brands of tequila and tacos. Yum! We sat on the patio as we had our dog. They brought him some water and a dish for his (Jimbo) taco. Definitely would recommend.

Google
On a work trip to Jacksonville, from Idaho, and never been here before. This place was recommended to me. The food did not disappoint...fresh, hot, amazing flavor and fast to the table. The waitress was pleasant. I will be back if I'm ever in Jacksonville again. Nice job, Tacolu!

Google
The absolute best tacos and sangria, and the street corn is incredible. One of our party ordered the brisket nachos: huge portions which we all shared and still took home. The staff is amazing, from the valet to the servers.

Google
TacoLu is probably my favorite restaurant in all of Jax and I keep coming back for more. The chips are are very tasty and the tacos are delicious! Filet mignon on nachos is an excellent choice 11/10. I usually go with the $10 taco, Carne Asada and a Blackened shrimp or Bangin Shrimp taco and they never disappoint. My only gripe is it can get loud for such a small space, especially in the bar area. Outside seating on a beautiful brunch morning solves this issue. Parking lot is also very small but they have free valet if you'd like. I will always stop at TacoLu when I am in Jax!

Google
Stopped in for a work lunch today. The food was super yummy. The staff was super friendly and provided excellent service. The place has a total Mexican bar vibe. Great place for a delicious meal. They have options for everyone.

David Wright

Google
Love taco lu my go to spot in north jax for tacos. Been a customer since the small hole in the wall spot on the other side of beach I have so many friends an family going here. Word of mouth is still the best publicity.

Google
My coworker and I visited Taco Lu on a Tuesday night. On the waitresses recommendation we tried the street corn tacos without the jalapenos and they were taaaaasssstyyyy!! My co-worker ordered the tuna tacos, the $10 filet mignon taco, and the scallop taco. I ordered the bang bang shrimp, fried fish and last the carnitas taco. We finish with the flan. One thing that stood out tonight was how fast the service was for the appetizer for the beers and the drinks. Our waitress Stacy was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. Thank you very much!!!

Yelp
I haven't updated my review in a bit despite being back a handful of times. However, I wanted to give them a shout out for handling Cinco de Mayo great today. After a busted fishing trip for the guys due to boat issues, we decided to go up for a late lunch/early dinner. The wait time was super short and everyone in there was working hard to take care of the patrons. I didn't get the bartender's name but he was quick to get us a few cocktails and Landry took great care of us once we were seated. Cheese queso, salsa, chips, a multitude of tacos, beer, sangria, and wine and it was a good meal! Kudos to the Dos Equis ladies who were handing out free merchandise! That was cool! Good experience!

Yelp
Baja Salad with Blackened Shrimp 3.3/5. Greens 3/5. Toppings 3/5. Shrimp 5/5. Size & Value 2/5. Fantastic shrimp, I would like more crunch in the greens from Iceberg lettuce and maybe some onions. Fast service once we had a table.

Yelp
I have been here a couple times and this is my first time reviewing. I had the bangin tempeh taco and a tempeh taco. Both were pretty good (bangin tempeh better than regular) but honestly I do not understand the hype of this place. This visit was much the same as others. It's good but not great. We also had sangrias. Those were prob the best drinks I've had in all my times here. Very enjoyable and refreshing! The ambiance is fun. We sat at the bar and the bartenders gave pretty good service. While nothing is overwhelmingly impressive for me, I am giving it 4 stars because there's also nothing really wrong with it!

Yelp
I revisited this place after trying it years ago. Walking in, there were five hosts, which seemed excessive for a Tuesday night. Seated right away, the walk to our seats was like walking through a maze. We sat in the back room in the corner, which was a bit dark. It didn't have the ambiance of a date night; it felt more like an after-hours, last-minute dinner. Our server was super sweet. She seemed very busy but was very kind and courteous. We started with standard chips, salsa, and guac. The guac was mid, but the salsa was DELICIOUS! I prefer spicier salsa, and most restaurants that offer salsa in Jax have a very mild and unassuming flavor, but Tacolu surpassed my expectations! For dinner, I ordered three different tacos: the bang bang shrimp tacos (which were recommended to me), the regular shrimp tacos, and the vegan chorizo. The bang bang tasted really artificial (honestly, I don't know what I was expecting, but that's the only word that fits.), the vegan chorizo was dry, but the shrimp tacos were incredible. I would go back for the shrimp tacos alone! Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, and I would definitely consider going back.

Yelp
This place is always happening and now I know why! Parking lot is always full. What a great location and vibe very inviting staff who takes their time to explain and recommend items. We had an awesome server an awesome experience. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Someone had recommended this place to us about a year ago, but we never tried it out until today for lunch. I am sorry we waited so long. The ambiance is great with so many vibrant colors and Mexican tile decorations. Because the weather was beautiful today, we opted to sit outside on their back patio. It was delightful. We quickly had our drink orders taken, and received complimentary chips and salsa. Both tasted great even though the salsa had a little kick to it. They also sell quacamole and queso as add ons. I had the $10 taco, which contains filet mignon, and pico de Gallo. It was fabulous. My other taco was the spicy bird. It contained pulled chicken but was not very spicy. I simply added some of the complimentary salsa, and that made it better. My husband had the brisket and banging shrimp tacos. He loved them both. We will definitely be back.

Jesika K.

Yelp
It's one of those spots that's just solid. They have so many good food options and the service is really good. It is popular so the wait can vary but that's to be expected. Sat on the patio for the first time this last visit and it was so amazing but honestly the whole place gives good vibes. Give it a go!

Laura P.

Yelp
Server was great and food was super on point. Haven't been in a. While and love this place still today.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
The red enchiladas with cilantro rice was a very reasonable price. It comes out as one giant enchilada, the sauce was nicely flavored and the egg complimented it well. The cilantro rice was flavorless but it paired well with the cowboy beans. The shredded beef was rather tough but there was a good portion and a lot of meat. The restaurant servers were really nice and it was easy to split the bill for a large group. It was also quick to get seated because there are no reservations. Parking is free valet. Margaritas are delicious but a bit on the smaller side.

David H.

Yelp
This is a huge staple of Jacksonville. The main issue I have with the tacos is that I just want to take all the fillings out and eat them without the tortilla. Honestly would love them to pay as much attention to the tortillas as they do for the filling of the tacos. Dining area is enormous inside and out, so sometimes it can be slow with service. If you go in knowing that it helps just sip on some drinks and enjoy the company. If you have not tried this place it is a must try if you are from out of town it is an experience in itself and will continue to be for years to come.

Brooke A.

Yelp
I love Tacolu!! The ambiance is great and the food is wonderful. The scallop taco comes with really sizable scallops cooked perfectly. I also loved the bloody Maria, great price too!

Kaitlin W.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Came today to show my family from out of town and they said they definitely want to come back and that the enchilada was the best they've ever had. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. I got the banging tempeh tacos, I get those every-time I come. The salsa is my favorite, just spicy enough and a good consistency. Great price for the food. It's usually pretty busy because of how great the food is but the service is always fast. I've never had a bad experience. I believe our server was named Kylie and she was awesome! Very sweet and attentive and offered recommendations. I would say that personally their guacamole isn't my favorite, if you like your guac more creamy and less chunky than this guac would be for you! The parking lot is usually pretty filled up but they do offer valet and I believe it's free, so just keep that in mind in case you want to bring some cash to tip.

Eve M.

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant across the board in our household! Ages 5-40 and we love it. We all have our set meal ranging from the street corn to the brisket taco, the Black and Blue and the Bangin Shrimp. It's all sooo good! I crave their Bloody Maria drink. Always a good time

Loan N.

Yelp
My friend and I met up for a massage and then decided to go to TacoLu for lunch. I've been wanting to try this place out, and I love love tacos. So when my friend suggested this place for lunch, I was so down to go. The place seems small, and the parking is limited space. They have valet if you want your car valet though. I got the banging shrimp, carnitas, and blacken shrimp tacos. Everything was so delicious and fresh!! The flavors were banging! I highly recommend this place if you love tacos!

Capt. M.

Yelp
It is always packed there for a reason. Good food, good drinks, nice atmosphere! And friendly staff!

Edward A.

Yelp
Good friendly service from Ashlynn, fair drinks, and ok food. Having had the Baja fish taco at TPC, I was so looking forward to this visit as that taco was pretty darn good. A visit to the restaurant provided a flat, overcooked, and dried out piece of "fish" that I suspect had been sitting under a lamp waiting for someone to order it before it had to be tossed in the trash. Lucky me. The asada taco was not bad but the meat chunks were actually too big which to me is just lazy. Asada needs a fine dice to soak of all the flavor and from the marinade. My wife ordered an avocado taco and added chicken but didn't expect some boiled in unseasoned water chicken. #blandblandbland I will add that the Henry's queso and guacamole appetizers were very good. And the chips were decent and thankfully warm unlike other reviews I've seen. Unfortunately, for me, this is an over-rated Jax Beach staple and this place was packed. Wait wasn't horrible at about 40 minutes. Probably more of a 2.5 star but that fish taco just left me disappointed. Maybe a place for apps and drinks but tacos left me as flat as the dried out fish I was served.

Yelp
When I first moved to Jacksonville back in 2010 I remember the hype around Taco Lu and when I finally went I didn't get it. 13 years later I still don't get it and I never helps that I always have a hard time parking there too. We came in for Saturday Brunch and were able to get a table. They did have a brunch food and drink menu plus come brunch happy hour specials which were $1.50 of cocktails or at last Margaritas plus $4 Mimosas and Sangria. Since we were eating at 12:00PM I stuck to the regular menu and even more basic the tacos. I went with 4 the famous Bangin Shrimp, The Baja Fish, The Carnitas, and The Black & Bleu. I will say the food came out crazy fast. I wanna say within 5 minutes and for sure no more the 10 minutes. The Bangin Shrimp was just ok. The Shrimp were over batter and fried and after getting though that you realize the shrimp aren't that big either and could have used more of the Bangin Sauce to spice it up a little more. The Baja Fish was very bland. Also had no flavor to it. The fish was also very thin. They gotta spice up this batter a little more. The Blackened Mahi if has to be better then this so I would go with that. The Carnitas somehow had even less flavor then the Baja Fish which shocked me. Didn't think it was possible. Thank God for hot sauce to bring something to the table. The Black & Bleu is what really saved this meal. I will say with this one they knocked it out of the park. Flavorful and tender Filet. Crispy bacon to give it some nice crunch and creamy Bleu Cheese. If I'm back and I'm sure I will be the order will be 4 of these. It's just on a completely different level then the other 3 tacos and really saved this review for being lower.

Ayla G.

Yelp
My favorite Mexican place so far in Jacksonville! Food was DELICIOUS and service was prompt. It can get SUPER busy so arrive early just in case. It can also be a bit crowded inside. Menus are QR codes which I don't love but it works.

Charlie Z.

Yelp
Looking for Amazing and consistently good food, you need to go here! Tacos are delicious and fairly priced. I could drink the queso! Ten dollar taco is my favorite! It's not really 10$ but it's so good it should be! Cool atmosphere with neat decor. Family friendly. Staff is always friendly and prompt!

Val P.

Yelp
Drinks were so yummy I got the Juan Collins and the cucumber Marg. Food was great and service was better thank you Matt'

Josh W.

Yelp
The vibe of the place is immaculate and their selection of tequilas and alcohol are top tier. But those are the only things that are truly great about this place.... The food is sadly mid. I've had 6 different taco selections from the bang bang shrimp (people rave over this but I thought this one was the most mid of all), to the $10 and the mahi taco. All of it is mid. It taste like my 16 year old niece made tacos for the first time then gave it me. Now it's not THAT bad!!! It's for sure edible, but it's all pretty bland. For all the 5 star reviews this place gets you'd think the food would be a little better. Now.... I'm sure the food would taste better if I threw a few drinks down so maybe that's the solution next time. Overall solid but was a little disappointed. But still solid. Service was great btw. No issues there.

Susanna P.

Yelp
Love this place. Guacamole is THE best in town. Wait for table is never very long. Outside seating is super pretty!

Miriam C.

Yelp
I usually avoid this area, especially on a Friday, bc ifykyk, but we went for happy hour the second school let out last week. I really loved how well everyone worked together as a team! Our server was awesome. She was patient, funny, and gave good recommendations. Sangria was $4 on happy hour and margs were $7. Both were great. Guac was pretty good. Queso was ok, but way better at more authentic places. No need to take a star. Chips and salsa were plenty. I couldn't decide on tacos but ended up with the scallop, bang bang, and $10 taco. All were amazing. Can't wait to come back! Be prepared to wait if you come at peak hours!

Jessica H.

Yelp
It's been quite some time since we've eaten at TacoLu even though we live in Jax Beach. I just know the past few experiences here weren't worth remembering and so we just don't choose TacoLu as a "go-to" place for us. Going there this past weekend definitely was another reassurance of why we don't eat here anymore. First of all, the hype of this place isn't as great as it seems. Ambiance is still cool, but definitely an over-priced spot to have dinner. We were with a large group on a Saturday night, BUT service wasn't even the issue! We had about a 20-30 minute wait, but that was as expected. Our waitress was awesome and she handled our party of 15 quite efficiently, so kudos to her! That's one of the only reason this review is even getting stars. Even the food arrived fast to the table after ordering. The quality of the food is a different story. For the kid's cheese "quesadilla meal", it was a taco size tortilla sprinkled with cheese and sliced in half with a side of under-seasoned corn. Our 8 year old ate his "quesadilla" in two bites and didn't touch the corn. This was more like a toddler meal! Oh and the price of the kid's meals advertised on their menu says $4.99 but we were charged $6.99 as seen on the receipt. The 4 pieces of meat in the $5 carne asada tacos were dry, however, we did really like the bangin' shrimp taco. Other friends at the table complained about the spice to it, so be aware it does have some kick. A soda cost almost $4. Who really drinks more than a glass of soda per sitting? And even if someone does, why charge that much if it's only going to get refilled when we ask for more but the tap water given is constantly being poured in all the other cups. The chicken in the $14 enchilada was good only if it had the queso I paid $2 extra to add on it. Other than that, the chicken was also flavorless. One star for service & one star for the ambiance. For being a well known establishment, ya'll have to do better if you want more support from Jax Beachers.

James F.

Yelp
TacoLu is still a great spot to get some solid tacos. I have been visiting TacoLu since they were at there original location. They have maintained excellent quality over the years. I really appreciate the eclectic selection and creative options TacoLu has to offer. They also have a great vibe. Sting with the Jax beach surf culture. Service was great. Our server was fun, charming, and attentive.

Rebecca N.

Yelp
We were supposed to pick up the catered food at 10:30. It was not ready. We were offered water and told it would be 15-20 minutes. A nice young man carried the food out to the car and we left. We get all set up and realize they forgot the Mexican street corn! The Lady Chef offered to drive it out to us. But, we declined and we had someone pick it up on the way to the party. All in all-everything went well. Great times!

Lisa W.

Yelp
The decor is amazing! We went at 2:15pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. The service was great, and we didn't have to wait very long for our food. The food was so delicious and there are so many selections to choose from and it's vegetarian friendly. The only downside is the drinks are nothing special. The food and atmosphere make up for the drinks.

Megan ..

Yelp
in a word? LOVE. the vibe is amazing both inside and out. expect a wait if you go during busy time, but they have a bar you can wait at in the meantime.

Judy H.

Yelp
This was the first time I have been to TacoLu, and it was a great experience. The amazing quesadilla was unlike any I have ever had. The best! Service was fast and wait staff friendly The atmosphere was lively, filled with lots of patrons enjoying themselves. So happy we discovered this place! Is this a chain?

Erica C.

Yelp
Yummy as always with great service. Lots of food with lots of leftovers. Fundido was a first try for me- gooey, garlicky, and mushrooms. Like a Mexican garlic bread. Tacos- all great...full of flavor. My fave- carnitas and Salmon. Also a first, the Orange Margarita- 100% recommend. Refreshing and flavorful food. We went son a stormy night- pre tropical storm hit so no wait for a party of 7, while still a steady crowd. Definitely recommend- family friendly or happy hour friendly.

Alycia I.

Yelp
Very disappointing, the queso was so bland I had to mix in salsa just to have some flavor. The street corn was only okay. Everything else was really bland except the blackened shrimp taco, and the only thing good on that was the shrimp. My bill was 50 for two people to get lunch, so extremely overpriced. The atmosphere was amazing and made me excited to try the food but unfortunately it was not good at all. Save yourself money and time and just go to chipotle.

Gary E.

Yelp
Always a fun time here...i am always drawn to the blackened mahi-mahi tacos or the grouper....but then everything i have had here has been very good. This is my go to place everytime I come to town!

Angel A.

Yelp
The best tacos I've ever had and the sole purpose of majority of our trips to Jacksonville!! Great food, great service, great drinks and great atmosphere.

Brad B.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere . The service was great and the place was packed. The food came out quickly and done to Perfection.

Lanie J.

Yelp
My oldest daughter and I went there this evening for Taco Tuesday dinner. It was out first experience and it was a excellent one! We parked with no issues, the vallet man was a gentleman and we were greeted by a group of servers inside the front door and had a great server for our table. The food was so good and we met a nice couple, Frankie & her husband Kelly, that sat near us and enjoyed a great conversation. Just felt good there and loved the vibe. We beat the crowd for dinner. Got in and out with ease. A little more pricey then I thought before we got there, but we got a lot of excellent guality food and drinks and I tipped a 25%. Highly recommend if you love a great atmosphere, great service and excellent food! We will be back ourselves!

Jeffrey M.

Yelp
My wife and I were out running around and, kind of, went out of our way to try this place. We called our brother-in-law and sister-in-law to meet up. We were tucked in the back, and it was kind of dark, but the food was excellent. My brother-in-law and I each had a beer or two while the ladies tried some margaritas. They also tried some tequila which they had never tried before. I love good tacos and my brother-in-law just can't seem to pass up on Nachos. Everyone ordered something different, and everyone was happy. My wife and I happen to be near the place again the next day and stopped in again. We sat at the bar and was in and out quick. Can't pass up on a good taco. I look forward to my next visit, and there will be one of those for sure.

Crystal O.

Yelp
A taco legend in the area, John finally got me to try them and I seriously need to go back! I ordered sangria and one lonely taco, John ordered 2 tacos and of course the chips and salsa hit the table before even speaking to the server! John wanted me to try the $10 taco a steak taco, we also ordered the brisket and the Jimbo (chicken). While John loves that $10 taco- the brisket was the one that blew me away with flavor! The chicken one was good- but because the brisket taco was crazy good, it made everything else taste bland- lol. My sangria was also yummy. We need another taco Tuesday lunch date!

Jill W.

Yelp
Consistently good food. Excellent and attentive service. The fish tacos had a very large well seasoned fish filet. And chorizo taco was a bit spicy, but very flavorful. Be prepared with a few dollars to tip the valet.

Hannah M.

Yelp
Best taco place in Jax. Their $10 taco and nachos are fantastic. Our servers Trey and Nick were so great at making sure everything was right! We love the atmosphere as well.

Deborah N.

Yelp
The food was good despite a rainy night this place was crowded on a Thursday night! Thankfully they have valet parking which worked well since it was pouring rain! Drinks were good, but too much ice! Food was flavorful, I would return especially on a warm sunny day!

Judson C.

Yelp
Enjoyed another trip to Taco Lu. Drinks were good and the tacos were delicious and huge as always. Having said that there is a reason it's called Taco Lu and not Salad Lu. The Lu salad with chicken is $17 which is pricey but you get a huge salad. The problem is the chicken was incredibly dry. Instead of pulled chicken it should be a grilled breast or thigh. And the salad wqs difficult to eat because of how it was put together. Stick with the tacos. You can't go wrong with that choice.

Chad D.

Yelp
This has always been one of my favorite places to get tacos. They're always SO good with great service to match. Can get a little loud in there but still love it! Also try the watermelon mojito!

Chad D.

Yelp
TacoLu's never disappoints! The tacos are always on point, the guac is fresh, and the sopaipillas are to die for. Top it off with the blackberry margarita with jalopeño and you will definitely become a regular.

Julia H.

Yelp
These are very much American TaCOHs, done right. Not authentic mexican at all. This is the concept of a taco done the American way and it's surprisingly so freaking good! my favorite is the black and blue! the guac is hit or miss. you can always ask for salt and lime to fix to taste that's why they can keep all five stars. bartenders are top tier, hostesses are honest about wait times. honestly the only downside to this place is how popular it is, always packed nonstop and the parking situation is the worst and you have to use valet. However, it does appear to be a popular drinking spot. Highly recommend ubering. the drinks are fantastic and it is hard to just have one

Katie P.

Yelp
What a fun place! Can't wait to go there again( and hopefully kid free next time!) our server Alejandro was excellent and super attentive! The food came out so incredibly fast too! Chips and salsa were delicious and fresh and the tacos had so much flavor! Loved the set up of this restaurant and can't wait to come back!

Manta K.

Yelp
If you are looking for a casual Mexican food place with reasonable prices this is the place for you. Their nachos are amazing and the queso is delicious. Tacos are reasonable (approx $4 for each) and food arrives quickly. Our server was attentive and helpful with food suggestions. There is a kids menu which is very reasonable as well. I'm docking one star because the restaurant is LOUD making it hard to have a conversation with those at your table. A few things to know: -no reservations, be prepared to wait during busy times for a table -vegan and vegetarian options available (for vegan selections make sure you go to the vegan part of the menu) -tacos come with your choice of corn or flour tortillas -you pay directly at the table -hours Tuesday - Friday: 11am to 10 pm; Saturday - Sunday 10am - 10pm; closed on Mondays -on Saturdays and Sundays there is a brunch menu -if you have room after your meal try the scoop or ice cream it was excellent

Mb D.

Yelp
Food is always fantastic, service is super fast & best around, it's like the servers have esp! As for the ambiance, I keep looking for ghostly activities; but sadly, I have not seen any. The restaurant itself is unique & nicely decorated with catrinas, crosses & other Mexican lore.

Steven H.

Yelp
My wife and I love this place. A jax locals favorite. I got the egg on top of my enchilada and it was delicious

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. Valet parking available. Scan menus. Cool environment. Great service. Clean bathrooms. Salads are HUGE! Would return if back in the area.

Ally L.

Yelp
Although we're not from Jacksonville, Taco Lu is a spot we always come to. We had a 10 top and put our names in at 630 on a busy Saturday. We were sat within the hour and for the waiting time grabbed drinks at the bar with our group. Once we sat down there were chips and salsa on our table within minutes. The waiter brought over waters for everyone and quickly got drink orders. When we did order food, it came out quickly by multiple servers. The tacos are to die for! You can mix and match different tacos and you won't be disappointed with any of them
