Really disappointed. My 8 person family has been going here for almost a decade. It's our go-to hot pot, period since Bon Adian shut down. Sadly, after today; not anymore.
I went with my 5 year old daughter and best friend during lunch. We told her hot pot for my daughter and I, szechuan chicken for her. Not enough people for hot pot. Okay, understandable; so, my daughter and I split broccoli beef, sub beef for chicken. Nothing wrong...yet.
My 5 year old was content with the broccoli children, but I certainly wasn't. What did the pandemic DO to this place?? Quality was incredibly low on this. Chicken was tender, but old. Sauce was borderline flavorless.
The szechuan chicken was just as lacking. Sauce was useless and had no flavor at ALL aside from being spicy. Plus, of course, the chicken was still old.
My friend tried to tell the waitress we had a large problem with our food. Lady, who is probably 15-20, shrugs and chuckle/scoffs at her, "Could have gotten the personal hot pot." "We weren't told she could do that." Another chuckle/scoff with an added shrug. "It's in the menu."
The dish she was talking about, there is no way to know it was for only one person. As she knew what the customer WANTED to do, that was her responsibility to remember and say something. I've been a waitress before. It's literally part of the job to be able to make sure you're acquainted with the menu. This kid just wants a paycheck.
We picked at our food and barely actually ate any. She took a couple bites, and my daughter and I had more than half of ours left, only really eaten by her. I went up to ask for a manager, got scoffed at again, and she turns to me and says, "I AM the manager."
I was done. We packed outer food to push off on my hubby, brother, mom and two sons when we got home. Someone will tolerate it. But none of us will ever come back, and 4 people I introduced the place to have already told me they either won't go back, or they haven't even bothered since the pandemic, and have no issue staying away. I will be telling others.
It's sad how disappointing this trip was. I'm glad I at least have another back up hot pot restaurant I can start to frequent. I'll miss the yinyang hot pot, but attitude and lack of helpfulness--from the MANAGEMENT..? No matter how good the food was, it wouldn't be worth that.
TL;DR: No matter how good the food is, its not worth getting extreme attitude from your waitress/waiter. Less known if the food isn't even good.
