"Tacos Padre is a chic green and white-tiled Mexican taco stall in Borough Market. But there’s nothing chic about how we eat one of their battered fish tacos after a few punchy, frozen margaritas. This is a pit stop kind of place without any seating—but the tacos are perfectly sized so you can juggle a couple and eat them in a few bites as you avoid the market stampede. Fillings—like the rich, fall-apart beef suadero with fresh shaved cabbage—are generous and tasty, but a little forgettable. Still, grabbing a couple of tacos on a sunny day is a good way to satisfy a craving for chewy corn tortillas and rich, slow-cooked meat, before moving on to the market's other stalls." - Sinéad Cranna

Google
Phenomenal tacos and pizza at this spot. I had chicken and pastor tacos and they were delicious. These are more street style and are packed with flavor. They have lots of options to choose from. I also grabbed a pizza and was so surprised it was also 10/10. Service here was really good. The owner gave me some recommendations, and I'm glad I listened. Will def come back for more.

Google
Tables were extremely sticky, so that would as gross. Not impressed with the cafeteria like seating. Felt like fast food with strobe lights. I liked that they had sinks outside in the eating area as this food was greasy and messy to eat.

Google
Had the carne asada tacos , birria quesadilla and the chocolate flan. The tacos looked about as good as I would get at a supermarket the choco Flan was dry. The quesadilla had some redeeming qualities and good taste and flavorful consume. I'll post pictures to show you what the tacos should look like and what they actually look like.

Google
This pizza + tacos place is always spot on. The cheese is extremely stringy and good and you can't go wrong . It's located in the heart of Santa Ana . Good Food . I hope everyone enjoys their time here.

Google
Holy crap!!! The Horchata here is fire!!! Like whoa. Authentic Mexican flavor. And yes the food slaps too!

I went on a Saturday, inside this structure there are several locations, and that seems very good to me, since in one place you have options of more restaurants. It reminds me of the markets in Mexico. That day the person who takes the orders was not there, so I had to wait for me to order. It took me 30 or 40 minutes to be able to take my order and give it to me to go. The orders come with rice and beans, the truth is that I only wanted the tacos. There are many areas of opportunity to improve this place, there should be someone serving if they do not want the customers to go to the store on the side or in front of them, for the price of the tacos I expected better quality of the meat, these had fat, I asked for the orders separated, and they did not put them as I asked, so I ate the mixed tacos at home, they did not take the precaution of separating the orders. This is why I got my score, I hope they improve.

Google
Tacompadre in Santa Ana is a total winner! Let me tell you, their quesabirria tacos are the stuff dreams are made of. The birria is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and they don't skimp on the filling. But the real star is the crunchy flour tortilla. It's the perfect balance of texture to the juicy goodness inside. Looking for something a little different? The suadero alambre is a must-try. The suadero (skirt steak) is cooked to perfection, and the whole thing is overflowing with melty cheese. They don't forget the veggies either, which adds a nice freshness to the dish. And to top it all off, don't miss the chocoflan. It's the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. Creamy chocolate meets decadent flan in this delightful dessert. Overall, Tacompadre is a hidden gem in Santa Ana. Amazing food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

Google
Great tacos! Especially loved the condiments available (grilled peppers, onions, salsas, etc). Favorite part was the grilled onions. They definitely use a magic sauce or something because I’ve never had onions that tasted so good!!

J G.

Yelp
Just finished eating and wow, everything was so good. The tacos were amazing, perfectly seasoned. And the pizza? Don't even get me started, the crust was on point. Seriously craving more already. Best meal in a while!

Yelp
Tacompadre is one of a few food options in the McFadden Public Eatery - a trendy food hall with neon lights, seasonal decor, and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Tacompadre primarily serves tacos and burritos, along with traditional sides, agua fresca, and a few dessert options. I got the 3 tacos plate with chicken, carne asada and al pastor. My favorite was the al pastor, which was nice and flavorful with a kick of spice. They left the salsas, onions, cilantro and other sides like grilled onions out so that you could add to your hearts desire! A nice surprise was the horchata, which was probably the best horchata id ever had. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and wasn't watered down like some horchatas you'll get in other places. Overall, solid pick for quick, tasty food

Yelp
Overall great service and love the selection of food! Great both sober and under the influence lol. Over great price for great food.

Yelp
I had a friend visiting OC and thought it would be fun to show her Downtown Santa Ana. I wanted to bring us to 4th Street Market, only to find out that a lot of the businesses in there were already closed since it was a weekend night. Luckily, we saw on Yelp that Tacompadre was open and we decided to make our way over. PARKING: Tacompadre is located in the McFadden Public Market - I'm not sure if there's parking right in front but there's tons of public parking in Downtown Santa Ana, especially right now while there's construction for the streetcar and the city is offering free/discounted parking garages. WHAT I ORDERED: Quesabirria THE FOOD: YUM! You can never go wrong with cheese, but this place takes it a step further with an amazingly seasoned birria. The quesabirria comes with a cup of consome which was great for dipping. We were super impressed with the bar on the side - I'm used to seeing grilled onions and peppers but the pineapple habanero salsa stood out and was very delicious. SERVICE: The staff were so nice, and food came out rather quickly. VIBES: It was my first time at this market, and vibes were great!! There are other businesses around and Mission Control bar is on top for if you want to hang out after. BOTTOM LINE: Definitely give this a try if you're looking for something new and want a space to hang out with friends!

Yelp
The vibe is fun, the food is delicious, y Tacompadre brings customer service to a new level. A must visit in DT SA

Yelp
Came to try out these tacos, I heard they're really good. You can find this place inside the McFadden eatery downstairs from Mission control bar. There's a couple of places in here that I've tried but so far this one has been the best one yet, their pizza and wings, which are super delicious and good for the price are also sold at this location. The guys that work here are always friendly and willing to make your pizza AND tacos made to order. I got the 3 taco plate which came with rice and beans. The meat was good, the pastor was seasoned perfectly, the chicken was tasty, however the asada could use a little more seasoning. They also have Arroz con leche and it was super yummy! Probably my favorite items I ate tonight! This place would definitely get more traffic if people knew it was here. Come try it out! It's definitely somewhere you should try!

Yelp
***Final Fantasy XIV spoilers*** If you are a fan of Final Fantasy 14 and made it to the Dawntrails story quests, this is for you! Like many fans of Mexican food, we mainly go for other Mexican fares like Pozole, Carne Asada, or Mole. But around July 2nd, a game I've been playing for years called "Final Fantasy 14" released a new story arc set in a place heavily based on Mexican and Peruvian culture. In one of your quest, you help 2 characters, Wuk Lamat and Koana, cook a dish called "Xibruq Pibil". This dish in the videogame is based on the real life Cochinita Pibil and I just had to try it. It's not like any other Mexican food I've heard of and there's a reason why. We're used to Northern style Mexican food while Cochinita Pibil is from the Yucatan Peninsula where the Mayans still embrace their culture. In an attempt to taste a dish that's part of my favourite online game, I ordered 6 of these tacos. I scarfed them down because they're just that good. It's pork with achiote slow cooked in banana leaves. I'm making this spot my go-to and have so far tried their burrito and tacos. It's hard finding Mexican restaurant that serves Cochinita Pibil and I'm making sure any fans of the game wanting to try out this 'Xibruq Pibil' support this family run business. They deserve more than just my praise. Whether you're a Final Fantasy 14 player or just wanting to try a new Mexican dish, Tacompadre should be on your list!

Yelp
Located in McFadden Public Market in DTSA. I met with friends for Trivia Night at Mission Control, and I came downstairs to get a bite to eat. The many choices of protein sounded good, and the price for 3 tacos looked reasonable. Sadly, they were out of Pastor, but I got Asada, Pollo, and Birria. I was happy that they offered Horchata as one of their Agua Fresca choices. Jermaine (one of the owners?) was personable and directed me to the salsa bar, where I happily got cilantro, lime wedges, and selected from several kinds of salsa for my tacos. All three meats were generous portions, but I liked the asada the best. The beef was really tasty and grilled to a nice char. I will have to be adventurous and try the Suadero and Cochinita next time! Good food, good prices, and good service!

Yelp
Got a generous lunch break so took a walk to venture out to Tacompadre. Located in McFadden Public House, I believe, it's one of the two vendors in here. In fact, shares the same general area, I'm assuming it's the same owner/crew too? Not quite sure. I was the first one there, and was alone for the first half of the lunch hour. Score for me because I wanted so chill time. I ordered the 3 taco platter -- pollo, asada, and al pastor. Came with rice and beans. At the end of the service area, they had their salsas and other condiments. From what I saw, there were 3 salsas (two looked alike) and then there was a smaller container with the black salsa. I love salsa so I got all of em. I especially liked their rojo salsa. Their green was good too. Their black salsa was interesting to me. Don't think I've ever had this before. It was like Smokey, sweet and spicy?! I couldn't stop myself from eating it with every bite. The tacos were just ok. The meat lacked some salt, which was fine cuz means more salsa for me. However, in general, tacos were just ok. Will satisfy if you're craving it but it is not the first taco place that would come to mind if I had to pick a spot. Regardless, the service was great, food was decent and it satisfied my hunger. Thank you so much!

Yelp
This taco spot is a hidden gem in Orange County! I love the tacos, burritos and loaded fries here. The food is really good with fresh and quality ingredients. It's definitely a must visit place to get tacos and Santa Ana. They're a family owned and operated shop that uses family and original recipes from Mexico City. They carry meats like suadero and cochinita pibil that aren't usually found in other taquerias. They strive themselves on serving authentic and fresh Mexican food. I could really taste the flavors of everything. Find them located inside of the McFadden Public Market. There's plenty of seating inside and they also have a self service salsa bar. The customer service here is excellent. The staff really helped me with figuring out what to order and gave me the background of what their shop is all about.

Megan H.

Yelp
The food here is soooo good. The portions are actually so massive. I got the taco platter with al pastor, carne asada, and chorizo and they were all so good. I also got the carne asada fries and it was so huge. It's loaded with cheese and meat. I can't get enough of it. Definitely coming back here in the future.

Jasmine M.

Yelp
Came early in the morning before they opened with my special needs group and they were kind enough to let us in early while they finished opening, the food came out pretty fast after ordering and we had a group of 15 people I ordered the 3 tacos with rice and beans ( 2 birria 1 asada) there birria is really tasty and juicy asada good as well , the service was friendly and patient with our large group of wheel chairs Definitely very accessible! With good music as well

Nidia C.

Yelp
La comida mui rica los pasteles todo mui limpio Mui rica la comída los pasteles deliciosos mui limpio todo excelente cervisio

Katherine Y.

Yelp
They have taco tuesday deals and good combos during the week too. I loved their blue corn tortillas and you MUST GET THE SUADERO (FRIED BRISKET)! Next time I'd get all suadero tacos because it was THAT good. Their chips and guac are fresh and so crunchy.

Juel M.

Yelp
The service was good, the food not so much. I ordered the carne asada burrito and the meat was horrible! I couldn't even eat a quarter of the burrito. Too much fat no flavor no seasoning didn't even taste like steak.

Danielle B.

Yelp
First time coming here and will definitely back!! The food is delicious and the service is friendly! We ordered the three taco combo with rice and beans and carne asada burrito and neither disappointed!! The order of hot chips and awesome salsa bar were a plus! Want to come back to try some other menu items! This place is also reasonably priced. Great find in the McFadden public market!!

Monae S.

Yelp
Cal tacos never seem to disappoint, but the birria taco at this joint knocked it out of the park. The pizza was delicious and the wings were pretty good too. We never went upstairs to the arcade and the music changed 53 times while we were there but the food was really good so I didn't mind. It was a bit pricey but it's California so in my opinion it's probably their norm. I'm just being cheap because I'm from Maryland. The outdoor space was dope. I would definitely go back

Kathleen P.

Yelp
Great food! Queasabirria tacos and pizza were tasty and fresh. Great salsa bar too! Will be coming back!

Cynthia H.

Yelp
I ordered quesotacos and french fries through Uber Eats. The tacos didn't look like there was any queso on the outside and there was no crisp. It was so oily. They put the fries straight in a paper bag and it steamed and made the bag fall apart.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Fast and awesome serviceI loved there tacos and the agua de mango with Pinapple and the pizza al pastor

Jesse R.

Yelp
Had them catered for work today, pastor is ridiculously good, asada is great too. Chicken was so so. They have a darker red sauce and black sauce that are really good as well. Agua Fresca was delicious. Cool people, fair prices. My go to for burritos now. Check them out, one of the best Santa Ana spots.

David V.

Yelp
Located right below the Mission Control barcade, it's a great spot for a quick bite and then some drinks and games. Price was fair and food portions were good Self order kiosk made it easy to order.

Alex R.

Yelp
Very munchable 10/10 would recommend. The fire department came. Yummy food. The people are nice and it's very calm

Matt H.

Yelp
This may be the first time I found a food option at '5th street,' or whatever the name of the place is, that I like as much as the options at the bigger neighbor a block away. I ordered three tacos, birra, carne asada and pollo, and they were all good. With the birra, I was given a cup of the consume (I asked, not sure if it always offered) and the consume is very good. Otherwise, you have 3 competent street tacos, with a salsa bar off to the side (the medium is plenty hot, unlike lots of places). I didn't check in until after I ordered, so I missed out on the check in deal (saved for later though), but fore warned is ore armed, don't make the same mistake

Cindy T.

Yelp
Tacompadre!! I've been eying you since you are literally so close to my clinic. They have a good variety of tacos here and honestly the color of the tacos ITEMS I TRIED - Pollo: I am biased -- I love chicken. This was great, the chicken paired with all the toppings I think will be my go-to. - Cochinita Pibil (Yocatan style pulled pork): a little salty for my taste. I had to put some sour cream to balance it out a bit but still needed a lot of water with it. - Rice Pudding: good, very cinnamon taste if you are into that **ITEM BAR IS WHERE IT'S AT. Pineapple Salsa is DA BOMB. SERVICE: super fast! The food comes out within 5-10 minutes. PARKING: I think there are some lots around here, but I'm not clear since I walked over from clinic. Overall, this spot is authentic and somewhere that I will frequent while I am working nearby for sure!

Andrew C.

Yelp
Nice clean spot cool staff Loved the tacos GREAT SAUCE Food was excellent Recommend

Marlene C.

Yelp
Good service, quality and price tacos are good sizing as well as the flan and water!

Juan L.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service. The tacos were super flavorful and they also partner with a pizza place that is also super good. Would recommend!!!

Eric A.

Yelp
I visited Tacovompadre for the first time in a Taco Tuesday. They had a pretty good deal on their tacos today so I went ahead and ordered tacos de birria. The tacos were simply mind blowing, bro. They have such a delicious, unique flavor that you not only feel in your taste buds, but in your soul too!! In the culinary arts, these tacos expressed their flavor like discovering your favorite song or your favorite poem for the first time. Accented with authentic, flavorful salsas, along with chips and guacamole, this will be a Taco Tuesday that I will remember! You don't know Santa Ana until you try these works of art!

Cintya G.

Yelp
I had their pizza and wings. I personally enjoy their pepperoni and hot wings. The place is shared with different food vendors. :) located in downtown Santa Ana

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Quick and friendly service. Went late night, and food was good. Multiple different food options Thank you.

Aaron G.

Yelp
A spot I come to once a week! My order changes depending on how I feel that week. I will vouch for the items I've tried My favorite : taco de suadero Quesabirria a are solid side and delicious A quesataco de asada is always good Quesadilla with meat are very large and filling The burritos are classic burritos, nothing fancy but simplicity does it Meat, beans, rice! Good size you'll be full I recommend you come once in a taco Tuesday and try the meats to see which you like This meal was nice and filling

Jose G A.

Yelp
Great food and service, all variety pizza, wings and Mexican food excellentand the best ambiance.

Juan E.

Yelp
One of the worst places to order food from, I just ordered two tacos and Alambre plate with arroz con Leche. Let me tell you these were the worst plain tacos I ever had no onions, no cilantro, no salsa. The alambre plate was greasy with no flavor and as for arroz con Leche couldn't tell you cause I never got it . They send me a jell-O instead crazy huh!

Aaron A.

Yelp
Very generous staff and awesome menu So fun that there is a barcade upstairs Eclectic menu

Musamim M.

Yelp
The worst burrito I've ever had. I ordered a California burrito expecting to eat a California burrito but instead I was given a bean and rice burrito with a sprinkle of fries, asada, and pico de gallo. I specifically mentioned no rice and beans; and even asked for guacamole, sour cream and cheese which was non-existent. If you want authentic Mexican food, or a California burrito, this spot ain't it.

Ariana S.

Yelp
Great service and food! Such a hole in the wall gem for the late night craving! (Parking tip: park behind the building for easier access) Jermaine is the best!

Yesenia A.

Yelp
First time trying was 8/5/22 after recommendation on Yelp and had their alambre with cochinita pibil. So worth it and plenty of food. I craved their red salsa and opted to have a suadero, asada, pastor and carnitas tacos. All meats were cooked great and had great flavor. Burritos were very good size and my friends loved their tacos. After grubhub driver failed to follow directions and pick up order, the owner Jermaine offered to deliver our order after I expressed being heavily intoxicated. The food is great, zero complaints. It's also not grubhubs fault just some drivers can't follow directions and use common sense. Overall it was a great gesture on behalf of owner and not waste food they delivered our order in less than 10 minutes. Thank you Jermaine for cooking awesome food and not letting your customers down. We enjoyed it tremendously!

Kimmy P.

Yelp
Dont trust yelp reviews. I only tried tacos for taco tuesday This food was gross. The guacamole was extremely salty as well as the tacos. It was like taking a bite of the ocean... do not come here for Taco Tuesday. Parking was also a hassle. Perhaps their pizza pr wings were good but not the food

Madalin C.

Yelp
I love coming here especially for their taco Tuesday deal! Great selection of meats and their blue corn tortillas are exceptional. Jermaine is friendly and makes the overall experience truly enjoyable!

Alexis J.

Yelp
Such a tasty spot!!! The location is perfect, nestled in a building with a couple bars. And great service.

April N.

Yelp
4th time coming back, Pastor burrito and cochinita fries are my favorite love that it's open late, my bf and i's fav go to spot now !

Anuar C.

Yelp
Very quick service, and the quesotaco tacos were amazing! Also very generous with their portions!

Suzanne H.

Yelp
This is a good place to get great pizza! All of their food is fantastic! It's located in McFadden Market so it's a fun place to make a night of it; dinner and arcade games at Mission Control.

Ronnie V.

Yelp
Great tacos, great atmosphere and great services. Burritos are bombers. Carne asada 10/10. Love their pickled onions and salsa bar. Tacompadre is a fixture in the community and always finds way to give back! You won't be disappointed. Oh and the horchata is delicious!

Oscar M.

Yelp
Got pizza and tacos. First time here, and it's amazing. The service is great. All workers are friendly and recommend if asked what you like.

Jeffrey J D.

Yelp
Carne asada burrito was good. Also they have fire pizza. Ordered pepperoni and cheese.

Tamara T.

Yelp
Tacompadre is located inside McFadden Public Market which means parking is either on the street at the meter or in the small sliver of a parking lot in the back. I let the parking situation here deter me from trying this place for a year, but after trying the distinctly delicious tacos I won't let that happen again. The food and hospitality are worth it. I finally tried Tacompadre during OC Restaurant Week, where I got a pineapple/mango agua fresca, beans, chips and three tacos(al pastor, carne asada, birria) for $20. I also tried their guacamole and would recommend it. it's super smooth and has a lime taste to it and a little spice but it's not super hot. Each of the tacos I ordered had a really distinct and flavorful taste. I would order the same three meats again. They had a salsa bar which also featured grilled onions and grilled whole peppers! For dessert I tried the rice pudding and it filled me up and was a nice end to a good lunch. It's a great lunch spot with plenty of seating or after work spot with friends. Thank you to Jermaine for walking me through all of the menu items and also telling me about how everything is made in house except for the tortillas. Great service and delicious food!

Johana M.

Yelp
Got the carne asada nachos and the Jamaica water. The nachos were really good and had a lot of meat and toppings. The agua was very refreshing! And a plus that they serve halal meat!
