I first visited this place five years ago, and it was amazing—one of my favorite taco spots in L.A. I’d been wanting to try it again, and recently, while visiting SoCal, I had the chance to stop by. While it’s still pretty good, it doesn’t quite feel like it used to. The tacos are smaller now, as is the trend with most places in L.A. I’m not sure what happened, but I’m guessing one of the main tortilla distributors started making them smaller, promoting it as a selling point so that trucks don’t have to use as much meat and ingredients. What surprised me here, though, is that the tortillas are handmade and yet they started making them smaller. I still enjoy them—they really are the closest thing to a Tijuana-style taco. The flavor is excellent, and the guacamole is fantastic! All in all, it is still worth it to make the drive because where else can you get handmade tortillas and thick, gloppy guac? Here!
