Danny Meyer’s Events Company Opens a Giant Space in Brooklyn | Eater NY

"In a corner space in Lower Manhattan, this second outpost from 18-year-old owner Aiden Sterlin stays open as late as 3 a.m. on some nights, drawing lines of students and late-night workers for al pastor tacos and elote corn ribs that have already become bestsellers; the first shop opened near Barclays Center earlier this year." - Melissa McCart

Back in New York and first stop was to try the now famous Tacos Del Barrio 🌮🤤🔥 here is what I tried and the order that I enjoyed them 1. Al Pastor Taco (Pork) 🐷 2. Pollo Taco (Chicken) 🐔 3. Birria Taco (Beef) 🐮 4. Fried Shrimp Taco 🍤 5. Carne Asada Taco (Steak) 🥩 I ordered all of them on corn tortillas and ‘con todo’ which includes Diced Onion, Cilantro, Salsa Roja and Avacado Crema. These tacos hit every little spot that I wanted them to and I would definitely recommend them if you are a lover of some of the other places that specialise in these style tacos. I love how they had a few extra options like the Fried Shrimp to stand out that little bit. Pork is never usually my go to protein with anything but I am quickly and deliciously learning that when it comes to tacos, Al Pastor is the KING 💯🙏 follow @samvsfood_ on Instagram for more! #taco #birria #samvsfood #newyork #foodie

We got a chicken bowl (15$) to go and it was super tasty. The portion was huge, and the ingredients were fresh and full of flavor. You can also eat inside, but it’s very small and only standing room. Definitely recommend for a quick, delicious meal!

Oh my gosh! My wife and I were staying nearby at the Holiday inn and we were hungry. We just started talking doing this place and let’s just say…. OH MY GOSH! Best tacos, best quesadilla I’ve ever had! This was such an amazing late night bite but it is amazing super nice staff as well! Atmosphere was incredible great music and even more amazing food!

Very decent tacos in a neighborhood that desperately needed them. Uniquely positioned on the corner, it gives the impression of a larger space. There is limited seating inside. On the bright side, You are welcomed immediately and you get to watch the guys freshly assemble your order. I've tried the al pastor, and tge mushroom tacos. Very good indeed.

Ok this is a seriously good taco joint. The place looks clean and fresh, with minimal decor, giving a sense of space and welcoming. The staff are super friendly with a smile. More importantly, the food is excellent and not very expensive. Only slightly more than what a food truck charges, but well worth it. You have the choice of a flour or corn tortilla. I grabbed a fish taco and shrimp quesadilla, both on corn tortillas. The fish and shrimp were both battered and breaded, giving it a great texture. Highly recommend stopping by.

Good tacos! Came here on a Saturday night and didn’t wait too long. Watched them make the tacos live. Clean shop and great menu. Tacos had great flavor but very salty, chugged water after. Would recommend having water with their food

Google
Not everyday do you get to have the “Kid Wonder” take your order. Amazing tacos, even better vibes. Chicken, fried fish and birria were all delicious. See you again soon!

Google
Amazing food and incredible service!! Tacos were so tasty and all the meats were moist and perfectly seasoned. The most authentic quesadilla I’ve had in NYC using the right kind of cheese. Oh and don’t skip the tres leches, it’s so good and not too sweet!

Yelp
Starting with the positives, the restaurant is new, so the interior is nice and clean, and the staff is all super friendly. They are also generous with toppings, which I love. However, the food here was alright at best and prices are steep for small tacos. Also found out once we got home that an extra quesadilla and taco were added to our order?? We should've noticed the price difference when paying, so it is partially on us for the additional items to be added to the bill unnoticed, but we were not paying attention and distracted. They're also running a promo for a free drink in exchange for a 5 star review, which could explain why the ratings felt so inflated to me. Probably would be closer to a 3-star for me, but after seeing the owner's story on social media, giving him the benefit of the doubt for the miscommunication.

Yelp
Micro aggressive and Racist. After eating and getting ready to leave. The cook stopped me to ask and I quote "No racist s*** bro, but can I ask a question?" I should've known better than to give him the floor to ask it. Long story short he asked if I watch basketball, I said yes and he proceeded to ask if I know Jimmy Butler. Immediately I shut it down and said I don't look like him. The cook proceeded to debate with me on this and then even tried to convince me further by referring to his media day picture with the fake locs. I told him that's even worse and after notifying that his were fake and mine are real he still stood on that opinion. Terrible service. This was around 2:30am on November 2nd, 2025. The girl next to us who overheard seemed real uncomfortable by his comments as well. I don't even write reviews but this felt needed to say. Especially in the current climate we're in. It's racist, period. Inexcusable and disgusting. F*** tacos del barrio.

Yelp
The carne asada is very tender & prob the best of any "hole in the wall" taco spot I've tried! Both the carne asada quesadilla & carne asada taco were great, would get again & try new things

Yelp
Compared to the local competition, this really is quite good. With a large heaping of meat, a flavorful marinade, and a good variety of toppings, it's easy to pick this over similar options nearby. There's no place to sit here, but take a stroll over to Seaport and you'll find beautiful views and plenty of outdoor benches. I'll note that the ordering/waiting/line situation is a bit confusing, with just one general space that everyone congregates in, but once you've got that figured out, you'll be eating before you know it! And if you prefer things a bit saucier, make sure you ask for salsa -- it's not always provided by default.

Yelp
Tried this spot since we live nearby. The staff is really friendly, and the service is fast, which we appreciated. The menu has a nice variety, so there's something for everyone. The food was good, though I felt it could use a bit more flavor--I've had tacos elsewhere that were more memorable. I wouldn't mind coming back, especially for the convenience and friendly service.

Yelp
Delicious new spot in the neighborhood! Sooo good, pretty speedy, and super friendly. Been several times since discovering it and will definitely keep that up.
