Tacos Don Manolito Review - Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation
"Hollywood has a plethora of forgettable fast-casual lunch options. Tacos Don Manolito is an exception. The sunny, order-at-the-counter taco shop on Sunset Blvd. comes via Mexico City, where it’s a popular chain. Our guts telling us it could have similar success here. Early standouts on the menu include the maja, which is a griddled cheese crust that’s been rolled with your choice of protein (get the perfectly salty ribeye) and then wrapped in a soft, transculescent flour tortilla. Then there’s the costeño-campechano, a behemoth of a taco filled with a mix of cecina, homemade chorizo, and chicharron with chopped onions and jalapenos mixed in. It’s a perfect balance between sweet, savory, and spicy, and considering that two will easily fill you up, the $4.40 price point makes for a very affordable meal." - Brant Cox
A nice taco joint. It also conveniently provide video menus in English, so definitely a plus one for foreign visitors.

I tried the taco toro. While it was a little bit pricey, it was delicious. The chipotle that they serve together was really good. And the caramelized onions were other level.

Good flavor tacos. Was a bit dry. Missing acompañantes

All the food comes out of a microwave. It’s an open air place with booths outside to watch the street, which is fun, but the food is really pathetic. The bathrooms are clean though.

Went there just to grab a beer before our Uber and sat down we told them we only wanted to get drinks. Then after ordering drinks they told us we had to order food which we did. Then we asked for the bill and the waiter brought a new round of drinks. We explained that we just wanted the check. The beers were unopen and they told we had to buy the beers scene though they were unopen! They are just trying to take advantage of tourists. Stay away

As a person who eats tacos probably 3 to 4 times a week I know good tacos when I eat them! Unfortunately these were not as good as the taco stand on the corner. The bistek taco was really salty and only had meat on it ???? We weren't given a side of onions, cilantro or even limes. Not the best but not the worse just bland!!!

Yelp
Terrible service. Semi-empty and no one to greet me within 10 mins. I saw all the employees chatting without a care in the world .

Yelp
@tdmlosangeles wow.... I thought I was going to be disappointed like all the taco places here in LA...

Yelp
This place is fun, the staff is very friendly, and it is a fun ambiance with TV's for games. I would say that this is a very close representation of a buffalo wild wings in the US, but for tacos. The tacos were good, but very plane (just the tortilla and the meat). They do have two salsas and grilled onion you an use to put onto your tacos as well, but it was still a bit bland. The thing we really enjoyed was the chiliquiles (we got the steak one and it was really good) as well as the nice cold Modelo. I would say to go here if you are just looking for a typical chain style food with good food, but nothing to rave about.

Yelp
We ordered take our since we're staying at the Airbnb across the street. Got the la Victoria (fried cheese) and their special costeño... Both delicious. Their salsa is Chipotle based so beautiful smoke to it. Took about 5 mins to order and take out. Quick service. Nice and clean eating area and great vibes. Looks like they just opened, haven't seen them busy. Def toddler friendly.

Yelp
Like every other business begins good then turns expensive for the amount of food they serve is not worth it

Yelp
Wow I stumbled upon this place on accident while strolling the markets. Then came to find out it's a favorite local spot. I tried regular tacos (carne asada and cactus) which were good but not great. However the must try is the famous and authentic "la Maja campechano" ... the nopal (cactus) colado taco is good too. Don't forget to order their version of a michelada- that drink is my favorite thing about Mexico. Ole!

Yelp
We stayed close by and stumbled upon this place. We started out with Micheladas and they were tasty. The Michheladas had lime juice and they top it off with whatever beer you want. I had the bistec taco and frijoles charros (beans with pork). My brother had the chilaquiles that were very tasteful and spicy. I recommend this place.

Yelp
Most of my experience here was not fully understanding the menu or the server, but just ordering things and seeing how it went. Well, I have no complaints! The food was delicious I wish I could remember the names of everything - one was chicharrón, one was cactus and cheese, one was like an omelette but cheese instead of egg. Also the agua de jamaica (hibiscus) is great, and I generally don't love juice.
The server was very polite and patient with us and the language barrier.
Also there's a cute cow thing out front. Photo op!

Yelp
Delightful service, house-made beef, caramelized onions, delicious tacos. We ordered the cactus and cecina taco, the bifstec, the chorizo + beef + chicarron, the cecina beef and onion, and the charros frijoles - a rich soup of beans and beef. Price for 4, with beers and horchate - $22. Clean, friendly, delicious. Note: they specialize in beef and chorizo - no chicken or fish.

Yelp
Loved the two veggie tacos I tried here: colado (cactus and oaxaca cheese) and El Ruedo (cactus and cheese crust). Both were delicious with their salsa and lime. I liked the El Ruedo the best! The Horchata was delicious. Tried the Michelada (beer with lime juice and salt). Yummy!
