25 Dishes for Offal Lovers Around NYC | Eater NY

"This modest Mexican grocery in the Bronx’s hilly University Heights offers a brief list of tacos among other deli fare and juices. The pig tripe taco is particularly good, squirted with a bit of crema, and it illustrates an important idea regarding tripe — two different organs are both identified as mammalian tripe, the small intestine and the stomach lining. “Tripe” in taquerias usually refers to the intestinal variety." - Robert Sietsema

Korea’s Popular Take on Sushi Arrives in Chinatown — and Other Cheap Eats - Eater NY

"The mascot at Tacos El Chavo is a goofy cartoon character with a cap coming out of a barrel. Fresh squeezed juices and batidos (milk shakes) are a co-specialty, as are Dominican empanadas. But tacos are the thing to get, either in the Mexican style (with raw onion and cilantro) or the American style (with lettuce, tomato, crema, and queso seco). Chicken or chorizo are always available, but if you’re lucky, you may find tripe, tongue, or braised goat (barbacoa). The same fillings may be had in tortas, tostadas, or huaraches." - Robert Sietsema

A green juice is more than celery pineapple and spinach, those people don’t know how to make smoothies/ juices etc. All they know is to flirt with customers and ignore all others that aren’t there to wait while they have their side conversations. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Nasty and RACIST staff. Was in the area for an appointment, and went in here cus i saw they have tacos & other Mexican food. Upon entering the big guy and an older lady stare me down. Then she turns to him and says something in spanish including the word “Negra” in the sentence. I couldn’t believe they’re dumb enough to think black ppl can’t hear or comprehend them talk shi* in spanish. After already ordering i walked out of that disgusting spot. She had the nerve to also grab the chicken with her FILTHY hands and put it on the grill. Avoid food poisoning AND racism by skipping this dump.

Never going here again. I already decided I was not going here again after being grabbed by a lady for what seemed to her accidentally taking her food. It was MY paper bag, and she didn't have to grab me literally back into the restaurant to find out. This is the second rowdy incident I've seen here, first time directed towards me. Upon eating my food I find PLASTIC in the empanada. Photos dont lie. I love their coffee de hoya, it is divine. This is bad business too many cooks in the kitchen. Nice people but the new owners are questionable. Never again.

I made my boyfriend take me to try the food with me and all I can say is we were not disappointed at all! We had a burrito and sopes along with two smoothies (mango and banana with chocolate). The meat was cooked well and had great flavor I suggest the carne enchilada some places don’t give it the unique flavor that reminds me of my tia’s cooking. The smoothies were great too. The mango tasted natural and my banana with chocolate reminded me of my childhood. I would for sure recommend to anyone in the area looking for yummy authentic mexican food. However the sopes did get a little soggy maybe because we ordered to go, other than that everything was delicious and we will be going back.
