Tacos El Compita Mexican restaurant, Fit Meal 4 U closed by the health department | Eater Vegas

"A walk-in restaurant at 7622 W. Westcliff Drive was closed by the Southern Nevada Health District on Oct. 11 after a cleanliness complaint; inspectors found dirty tables and floors, dusty air ducts (including above the food-prep area), a bathroom with a clogged toilet and graffiti, a hand sink detached from the wall, and no hot water — the latter forcing staff to wash dishes and hands in cold water and cited as an imminent health hazard that prompted immediate closure. The restaurant was reinspected and reopened on Oct. 12 with a zero-demerit A grade." - Susan Stapleton

Came in ,and tried the quesadillas ,they were pretty good ,we tried the asada, birria and the pastor and they were delicious. The green sauce is very good not spicy at all and the red is pretty spicy. The service is great.

Google
Absolutely exceptional. I read about this place on Reddit as I was looking for good authentic tacos and this company was recommended. There are a few around town and we stopped at this one because it was most convenient for us after a hike in red rock canyon. We order tacos (in order of most deliciousness: asado, chicken, and El pastor competing for first place and carnitas last personally I wouldn’t order them) all without onion. We also tried one quesabirra which was fantastic but the tacos still win. We washed it all down with Jurritos lime and pineapple, pineapple hands down the best. Service is fine, they are warm and you can order in English but Spanish is better. Cash is king here. The atmosphere is basic, cantina style, which I think is perfect. Absolute must stop if in vegas.

Google
Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - Platos de 5 tacos (#2) and Compita Nachos with Birria. The tacos were delicious overall! The cabeza was tender and flavorful but the tripas were boiled and a bit queasy as they weren't cleaned well. The nachos were generous in serving size but the shredded beef was inconsistent as some pieces were quite dry. Service: 2/5 - not sure if language issue or the cashier just didn't care. After we ordered but before we paid, I realized that the cost was higher than expected and was trying to figure out why it's almost a $2.50 difference. We finally figured out that we ordered a Birria Nachos (#10) but he rung it up as a Compita Nacho (#18) with Birria (shredded beef). We tried to explain that we wanted number 10 and showed him a picture of the menu. He walked around the cash register and looked at the menu as well. When he went back to the cash register, he took the next guest. When he was done with the guest, he just asked if we wanted to order or not. If there's no difference between the two items, they should remove the cheaper one to prevent communication issues again. Ambiance: 4/5 - looks like the store was recently repainted and updated but some older signs are still hanging up. The tables and salsa bar could use some wiping though. Value for price: 3/5 - decent food at a slightly higher price point compared to other shops we recently visited. Unfortunately, the price difference for the nachos soured our visit immediately. Do note they only called order numbers in Spanish so brush up on your language skills...

Google
price and menu update: Plus 3% credit card fee Update Jan 2024: After having endless Taco in california for a couple of weeks, from taco truck, taco stand and off grid restaurants, Now I can tell the difference the tenderness of the meat & lack of flavor, the birria consome is not the same, even the red/green sauce are not as tasty as I first remember. Update Nov 2024- 11 months after the last time we ordered from here. Now it’s official it’s out of my list unfortunately. Food portion has drastically reduced by half at least! Carne asada barely any fries and meat and their burrito are half of the size from the original pictures I’ve taken from this review years ago.

Really tasty, affordable and quick. Stopped in here on way home after showing a client a property. Loved how quick they were to assemble a to go order. Good pricing and clean.

very good neighborhood taco shop, come in for a fast meal, worth the time

Google
Plenty of seating, clean place to eat. Food was AMAZING!! Service was also very good. Brought whole family to dine in. Thank you for an delicious dinner!

Google
Typical small taco shop that is one of the best tacos spots I've been to. When I say I want tacos, this is the type I want. Reminds me of when I was growing up. I ordered the 5 birria taco plate, and it comes with consome. Perfect flavor in the tacos and consome! Would be coming here again. Can't wait to try something different next time I'm here. I went here on a Sunday for lunch and there was plenty of parking on the lot. Also, not packed at all so it was super fast service!

Yelp
I miss street tacos from SoCal, so I've been trying to find tacos similar to one of my fave taco joints. I was pretty surprised by the flavor of the carne asada here. I've had a bit too many bland carne asada tacos in Vegas and thought this would be the same based on appearance, but it wasn't bad at all! The al pastor tacos had so much flavor, but it was also a bit unique. Maybe a bit sweeter than what I'm used to? But for $15, I'd say the 5 tacos were worth it. Staff was nice and efficient. The place was spacious with what seemed like regulars dining in. I'll probs be back whenever I'm craving tasty and not so oily carne asada tacos

Yelp
My husband wanted to try El Compita and so we came and it was be pretty good! Just a bit far for us. I got the five taco plate and he got a burrito. The burrito is not really big but has so much meat in it. It was pretty delicious. There were only two salsa options, the green and red. They put the red salsa as default on my tacos and it was really spicy. The pastor meat was nicely seasoned. Overall, would come back but it's kind of far.

Yelp
Second time here and I love it. I can tell you that I know for sure I'm eating here every 4-5 weeks. My goal is to try every single thing on the menu! Last time it was tacos, this time the burrito. Delicious

Yelp
This hidden gem is literally the best taco spot in Las Vegas. The cooks are phenomenal and they cook with love. We have been coming to this location for years. They have another one on Charleston, but it doesn't taste the same as the one on Westcliff !! We drive all the way to this specific location only !! Their quesa birria is fire and the tacos de lengua and tripas extra crispy with everything !! BOMB !! You gotta check them out, they're soo good !!
google avatar

Yelp
Best quesabirria tacos in all of Las Vegas. It's always decent crowded every time I go in, regardless of the time; so that speaks for itself. A little on the pricey end for the size of them. You'll need at least 3 to full satiated, I usually get 7-8 with a drink and my bill is around 40 dollars, so take from that what you will. Staff is very nice, place is pretty clean. It's a very nice vibe and I always take my friends here whenever they visit.

Yelp
We want to eat inside this spot the other day. We ordered 2 plates of 5 tacos and a mulita. One plate I ordered 2 asada, 2 pastor and 1 tripas. The other plate we had 2 pastor and 3 asada. The mulita was pastor also. Tacos are a bit on the small side, 3 biters. But the price reflects the size so it fits. Tripa taco may have been my favorite. It could have been better if it was a little more crispy for me, but it was very good and tasty. Second place is the asada tocos. The meat was average but they did give you a good serving. Overall a solid taco. Pastor for me was not how I like it. I think they add a little cinnamon for the sweetness and I'm not a fan of this on my meat. The tortillas were kind of bland. I was trying to figure it out. Was not sure if it wasn't cooked all the way but they were different. Also it was really greasy, which I don't mind but just letting you know in case it bothers you. Salsa bar is good they have pickled onions with habanero I love this. Also, pickled jalapeños and carrots, very good. Radishes, jalapeños, and red and green salsa. Serve yourself I like that. Red salad is hot but tasty. The tacos had me sweating. It's a good hot. The green is. It as hot but still has a good kick. Both were a bit too hot for my wife. Next time I will try a burrito. I hear their rice and beans are good. I don't order either this time. The staff is friendly and helpful. FYI - not many people have eaten as many tacos in their life as me. I will try them again I wasn't impressed the first time.
google avatar

Mackenzie D.

Yelp
Service was friendly and helpful. They verified toppings for each entree, which I really appreciated. The restaurant was clean and had a sauce bar! Loved that feature. The food itself was okay.. little too greasy for me. The Birria seemed spicier than I've had in the past. Overall the experience was good, just not quite what I was looking for.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick birra taco fix and found thiss First thing I'll say is when u can sip on the consume you already know it'll be good. Came at night so the area was a lil sketch but that 3 quesobirra plate was delicious!! And the side of pickled onions added the perfect crunch and twang.

Yelp
This place is authentic as it gets! It feels like when I was a kid growing up in L.A (Hawthorne) and went to get tacos. The beans and rice are 100% authentic, the beans taste home made de la hoya. The tacos are delicious the service is amazing. These are some of the kindest generous people I've come across. Tip! Tip! Tip! Tip! Even just a dollar! They appreciate it and it shows! We came on a Saturday evening. It wasn't busy, but there's constant traffic here. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I love the original location on Charleston so had to try spot 2. Their food is consistent and delicious. I got the 5 taco plate with carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas. All three were very tasty. I don't think there is any place in Vegas that you can get five tacos at such an affordable price. Service was quick and easy. Tacos came out fast. The place is clean and nice with plenty of seating. Good vibes and people.

Yelp
We have been here 3 times. The food is really good but the girl who took our orders all 3 times was sooo unpleasant. She acted like she didn't want our business. The first time I thought maybe she was having a bad day but second and third time still rolled her eyes while we ordered. We enjoyed our food but the service is bad. That just made us not want to return!

Yelp
I got the nachos con carne asada. They put the nachos in the microwave to reheat them they become soggy. Consome de birria was tasteless. It was such a disappointment I never coming back.
google avatar

Nikki M.

Yelp
I noticed that the card machine is no longer pointed where the customer can input their card themselves. The last few visits, I'm told the amount verbally and then charged extra. Almost as if the cashier is tipping themselves a dollar or two . Edit: I've been coming here for a cool minute. How convenient there's a "surcharge sign" now that I've never seen, and again I can no longer put my own card in. Do with that info what you guy will.

Yelp
Very good food and service. This place is a hidden gem on the Westside. A can't miss.
google avatar

Yelp
Our go to spot for burritos in the NW part of town. Love this spot and the food is always good. If you make it in you'll see that it's always busy. There's a reason for that. Service is friendly and it's good value for the portions. I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because I can't ever seem to get them to leave the beans off my burrito even when it's clearly an option on the door dash app.

Yelp
I frequent this taco shop every couple of weeks.. maybe more! I come here for the buche, asada, and tripas. The tripas typically come out crispy which is how I like them. I've also had the cabeza which is ok but the other 3 are my favorite. Service is fairly quick, considering I come in for lunch and the place is busy. Order them with everything which is salsa, cilantro, and onions. There is a salsa bar with the same red and green that come on the tacos as well as limes, jalapeños and radishes. Great taco shop and I will continue to visit.
google avatar

Cristina P.

Yelp
Ordered food for delivery. The order came. Food was missing items. No tortillas or salas that were required in order to place the order. Food itself is good just disappointed with the missing items. Not going to order from them via delivery. Good luck.

Jake B.

Yelp
Tacos El Compita sells above average street-style tacos (and other Mexican staples) at reasonable prices, with a "hole in the wall" ambiance. Thumbs up for Mulitas de Carne Asada. Quesadilla de Carne Asada is good too (will substitute camaron even though not shown on menu). Does not specialize in Al-Pastor. Good selection of Mexican sodas. Consistently good salsa.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
Tried the Birria, chicken and asada taco. The tacos have red hot salsa on them which has a decent heat. All the tacos were delish, but I preferred the asada and the Birria. The salsa bar was pretty nice too. Salsa bar had hot (red), mild (green), pickled spicy seasoned onions, pickled spicy jalapeño and carrots, limes.

Yelp
I was so pissed off that I came right home to write this review. I order what I always do, carne asada burrito add cheese. and I went to pay and this item has increased about 33% in price. WTF!!!! Enough is enough, I am not going to pay 14 dollars for a burrito. This is just BS, I refuse to pay those prices. It must have gone up in the past few weeks because I go here frequently. And while we're on the subject I am sick and tired of paying a fee , that your resteraunt should eat,for using a debit card, a debit card IS CASH as far as im concerned. It's petty and annoying and one of the big reasons I dont tip there. But, NOW? 14 dollars you can kiss my A**. Mexican food is supposed to be cheap and filling. I have eaten here for over 10 years, I won't be back. Guess ill head over to cardenas and get me some marinated steak and make my own burritos, RIDICULOUS ! the only thing that isin't going up is my paycheck, Im done.

Kai R.

Yelp
The food is amazing here. The flavor is nothing like Roberto's they are 10 times better. Me and my friends come here after the gym a lot of times and we always love the carne asada fries and birra quesadilla tacos. Keep up the work good stuff.
google avatar

Rose G.

Yelp
This place is amazing, I love tacos el compita. The Carne asada tacos are my favorite.
google avatar

Jiaranai C.

Yelp
Soooo good and so reasonably priced. I think I paid around $10.60. It came with 3 quesa birria tacos and a small cup of consume. The meat was well seasoned and very tender & the consume was soo good I drank the rest of it lol. After you order the food the wait time was the shortest I have waited, much better wait times than Roberto's for sure. And the staff were very welcoming. Would definitely make this place my go to for taco Tuesdays!
google avatar

Barbara D.

Yelp
We were craving tacos in Vegas and found this spot close by! The tortillas here are bomb but the meat were just okay. Flavors are definitely not as good as I thought it would be. The carnitas are too mushy and didn't care for the texture. Other meats also didn't have the great flavor I was craving for. Lots of condiments on the side available at the condiment bar.
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
The food was okay, but not something I would go out of my way to get again. My birria queso tacos were good, but a little heavy on the tomato flavor with the consume and a little lighter on the cheese in the taco compared to most other places I like to get them from. They completely missed one of our orders and instead provided a carne asada plate that was unfortunately heavy with cilantro for a person who gets the soap taste from it. The shrimp dish we ordered was really over cooked as well so they were really tough and chewy.
google avatar

Oceanbreezer F.

Yelp
* Food is good - But to go is not always as ordered. I prefer the location on Jones & Charleston. * Service is good as expected. * Ambiance is very casual. Self serve condiments and beverages. ** I ordered my tacos with 1 tortilla and one with WELL DONE meat...NOT GOTACIA WITH 2 tortillas which are not easy to separate after a short travel home; my WELL DONE WAS NOT!! After it was reiterated to the cook!! Even I asked him and he said "SI" . Aprendan bien a seguir órdenes especiales o leer órdenes. Ya no vuelvo a comer allí. Tanto ke me gustaba... ke lastima.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
Best tacos ever! I could eat the sides at alone. I'm not sure if it's because I go around dinner but there are never enough spicy carrots with the jalapeños.

Jeremy S.

Yelp
They actually close at 8:30PM. Drove here, took me about a half an hour with traffic. Turned their phone off so I couldn't call to find out if they were open anyway.
google avatar

Bill N.

Yelp
The real deal here, I had two steak tacos, rice and beans and a drink for around $10 bucks. Fast, friendly and deliciously authentic . Growing up in So Cal this kind of food is readily available everywhere, the Vegas options are fewer but this one is near the top of the list. It's a glorified taco stand that has a lot of room. They could use some help keeping tables cleaned and would appreciate it if the food prep guys would shout order numbers in a loud and proud kind of way. Me and others were left guessing what order goes to who? Now that I've been initiated I'm looking forward to going back.

Brian S.

Yelp
Best taco spot in las Vegas. The red sauce is the best I've ever had but be careful does have a little heat behind it. Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants authentic Mexican food
google avatar

Melody P.

Yelp
Here is a nice size mom and pop taco spot on the west side of Vegas. Great place to be in and out fairly quick. Salsa is on the side where you can help yourself. Salsa was good and spicy, but I wish there were more options since I love having options :) I get my normal birria tacos and Al pastor tacos. Both were a hit, but the Al pastor tasted fire for sure! I like the exotic meats too like tripas which is chitterlings which was crunch and tasty as well. A def come back for quick taco fix!

Joseph B.

Yelp
Really good authentic taco spot. I always get the chile Verde plate and it never disappoints.
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
My son took me here to try. Luckily I carried some cash as the CC machine was down. The young lady took our order but unfortunately the cashier till was having issues so I think that lead to confusion. I ordered two platters of tacos , some sodas to eat in. And asked for the Cemitas Poblano sandwich to go. We ate our taco platters and they were delicious. She called out our ticket number for the to go item. I picked it up and never looked at it. It did seem heavier than a sandwich. When we arrived home I opened it to see how it looked. To my shock it was Chicken Mole. ( I think it was their mole poblano ) I decided to taste it ( was planning on eating sandwich during VGK game ) . It was delicious and I ate it right away. All the food was delicious. The staff did the best they could with the circumstances. A quite possible communication mixup as it was noisy and the distance between order taker and customer was about 4-5' . It was worth the mixup and I know I'll be back to eat again.
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Quesa Birria (3/5): The consomé was tasty, but the taco itself was over-grilled. Taco Dorados de Birria (2.5/5)
google avatar

Cassandra S.

Yelp
We come here for tacos. Haven't tried anything else. There are at least 6 different meats to choose from for your tacos. At this point I believe my husband and I have tried them all. I really like the pastor and carne asada. My husband is a pollo and carnitas guy. There quesobirria tacos are also bomb. Maybe not the best in town... but for being around the corner we order them every time. They have a help Yourself salsa bar. There are carrots, radishes, and onions plus green and red salsa. The red is bomb but some weeks can be quite hot, the green is always bomb. We are regulars!
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
The quesobirria was on point at this spot! Super delicious hidden spot off Buffalo & Westcliff. The birria was juicy and the steak tacos had lots of flavor! Give a shot!
google avatar

K R.

Yelp
Amazing!! It is a little place hidden in a strip mall. Cash only, minimal atmosphere, order at the counter and they will call your number. The staff is fast and the kitchen was clean. They have a salsa bar with a tomatillo and red sauce, along with fresh radish and a pickled relish. The menu has a lot of basic fare but delicious! I ordered a carnitas quesadilla and it cost $10.51. It was enough for two people but it was cheesy, flavorful and so good I ate it all and now I am super full!! I was the only non Spanish speaker but they were so good to me. You gotta go and I will be back!!! Great place and fantastic food!
google avatar

Edward A.

Yelp
Good taco shop with different options of authentic food. Menudo is good with grano or without. Asada is cooked over flame so it has good flavor. Burritos are on point.
google avatar

Moe H.

Yelp
I have been coming here twice a week since 2008, but there food quality and service steadily decline, but today was the last straw...they sent me a burrito with no meat, my quesodilla with wrong meat and no cheese and the Mulitas came with no cheese or other topping...I'm done!!!
google avatar

Morgan H.

Yelp
Tacos El Compita serves up delicious Mexican food off the beaten path in Vegas. We were at a nearby field for a soccer tournament so it was perfect. It's a bit of a hole in the wall but there's plenty of seating making it good for larger groups. You can see them cooking and the staff is friendly and really want to make sure you enjoy your meal. The menu isn't huge but out of everything our large group ordered we liked the burritos, tacos and quesadillas the best. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Help yourself to their salsa bar and they will warn you that the red salsa that comes on a lot of their food is extremely hot. I said I wanted it on mine but they asked twice if I was sure, so I decided to leave it out. All of their meats are well-seasoned. The Carne Asada Burrito was packed full of deliciousness. The Birria Quesadilla was AMAZING. I highly recommend their birria and this is a great choice overall if you're in the area and in search of a quick and tasty meal.

Jimmie V.

Yelp
I have been showing up to Westcliff location and ordering online as well for the past several years and have never been disappointed. Food, especially the Asada Burrito, has been on point and very good. This place reminds me of a place back in L.A. whole in the wall kind of place with the food tasting authentic Mexican flavor. I've tried about all on the menu and recommend it to anyone who wants authentic taste. I like the fact that they serve the burritos with whole pinto beans and not refried. I'm definitely coming back, as always.
google avatar

Sonia T.

Yelp
You know that when you don't plan thing they actually come out better, our intention was to go somewhere but didn't workout then saw this place and we are very pleased, food was authentic street tacos and more. I think we found our place
google avatar

Amber T.

Yelp
Well since I fell for the reviews and went and was HIGHLY disappointed in my carne asada burrito I'll give my review. The meet was dry, no flavor, beans were mid and it tasted old. I tried to spruce it up and add the salsa but the meat just wasn't cooked with flavor at all, added Tabasco and still wasn't that good. I kept eating it hoping it would hit some flavor and all it did was have me on the toilet 15 mins after eating and feeling gross.
google avatar

Manny M.

Yelp
Been here a bunch of times, always been good. I usually get the grilled chicken burrito. Tried the Birria nachos, they where legit. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Bernardo G.

Yelp
This taco spot is a hidden gem. By far the most authentic quesabirria tacos I have had in Vegas. They are so good I feel like everyone needs to try them at least once! Wouldn't really recommend eating there but definitely a to go spot! I have been to this spot at least 6 times so far since I discovered it over the summer this year. Better dunk these things in the consome, yum yum!!!
google avatar

Georgia P.

Yelp
Taquitos were delicious and the service was quick. Finally found a decent taquito place in Vegas. Highly recommend!

Jessica M.

Yelp
Great place to eat. There's nothing fancy to the dining area, but the food is always exceptional.
google avatar

Keegan P.

Yelp
I've been searching for 8 years to find tacos in LV that compare to LA/LB.. We'll guess what? Here they are. Super authentic, super fresh, made to order. Wait 'til you see the giant pot of birria cooking when you walk in. My favorite is the carne asada but the chicken, al pastor and birria are all flame! Need to try asada fries next!
