Tacos El Metro - Review - Northwest Dallas - Dallas - The Infatuation

"Stashed behind a gas station in a strip mall, Tacos El Metro is a step above your average taco joint. There’s full service and a fully stocked bar, so you can settle in and watch a game on TV or get your family’s taco Tuesday fix. And while tacos are in the name, the tortas and quesadillas are what keep us coming back. Our favorite is the chicken tinga quesadilla: a plump, cheese-filled masa pocket stuffed with adobo-simmered chicken, deep fried, then piled with shredded lettuce, crema and queso fresco. For bigger appetites, there’s two-handed pierna de puerco adobado torta, where pickled vegetables and marinated pork leg are sandwiched between a cheese-topped bolillo toasted on the flat-top until crisp. Wash it down with cinnamony, creamy agua de horchata. It’s an elite combo." - Desiree Gutierrez

At first you see the building from the outside and you question it, once you walk in its really nice. Super clean, i mean my hats off its a clean place that alone makes you want to stay. We ordered some tacos steak 3 out of 5, pastor 3 out of 5, chicken 2 out of 5 and suadero 4 out of 5. Chips and Salsa a 3.5 out of 5. The salsas the orange one 5 out of 5, the green 4 out of 5. We also ordered chilaquiles with steak it was a 3 out of 5. I think it was the tomatillos they had a sour taste to them but it happens when tomatillos are just not cooperating with you. The steak it had was the same they put on the tacos, I thought maybe it would have been more like strip pieces but they where chopped square for tacos seemed a little amount for the upcharge for having steak on the chilaquiles. Great service, they make sure you are doing well ever 5 min thats good service. I'd definitely recommend this place. Maybe try something else it sure does need another try. A sold place a 3 out of 5 for this visit.

This was our first experience at Tacos El Metro. This casual setting is more than meets the eye. The top shelf margaritas were slightly tart, yet flavorful and we're crafted with the perfect amount of tequila. The Suadero tacos reminded me of those prepared in Mexico City, however, the flavors were abundant and the meat was moist...but not from being saturated in lard (they do not cook with lard here). The lean, healthy spin on these tacos were amazing. The El Pastor tacos are authentic, moist, and flavorful. The grilled pineapple was also a nice added touch to the dish. Their selection of bottled Mexican beers was great and the staff was very attentive and professional. This place definitely exceeded our expectations. Nos vamos!

There’s a massive difference between having a meal, and having a meaningful culinary experience. Walking into Tacos el Metro on Walnut Hill immediately makes you feel right at home. The theme is México City subway, and a huge map is the first thing you see; I could actually show my wife my old subway stop and then memories just hit you squarely. With great expectations, we ordered the barbacoa tacos with consomé; the flavor intense, the rich sauce, embracing, and the blue corn tortillas wrapping the soft, flavorful barbacoa meat, 10/10 so far. Then we just had a tour of tacos, including suadero, rib eye carne asada, pastor and even a tostada de tinga. One after another our taste was inundated with complex, yet delicate textures from the different tacos, like flowing down a trajinera in Texcoco on a bright Sunday afternoon. We are true converts to this place now and promise to come back many a time in the future!

Google
Awesome taqueria; we've eaten here multiple times and they keep surprising us! Everything is wonderful. The Tortas are amazing, quesadillas "Mexican" style with grilled veggies; the metro salsa!! We'll keep coming back. Update for 7/11/25: the quesadilla are still phenomenal. The ribeye Torta is great too. Service is amazing. We always have a excellent time when we come. And the food is awesome.

Just found our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Amazing atmosphere, clean, modern and spacious, with a legit Mexican menu. A happy family broke out a guitar and started singing for everyone. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! We got tacos, tostadas, Mexican style quesadilla and the pozole special which was delicious!

Google
I ordered a chicken taco, chicken quesadilla, chips and salsa, and a Mexican coke. The chicken taco was good but dry as it came. I added salsa which made it good. The chicken quesadilla was not what you expect when you get a quesadilla. The cheese was melted inside and everything else was on top. It was pretty good and I would order it again but it was very different from what I expect from a quesadilla. Chips and salsa are one of the things I think are critical for Mexican restaurants to get right and I was pleased with them here.

Google
This place is great! Food is awesome... Their version of the quesadilla is the best ever, I won't explain... You just have to try it! Prices are very reasonable and staff are super friendly and Patricia takes good care of you. Owners Sergio and Michael have done a great job giving a new spin on Mexican food. A full bar is available which is great. This is going to be a staple for us when eating out .

All I can say is wow!!! The puerco tacos were outstanding, the huesitos very unusual and delicious and the elite ribs were delightful. Also had the queso and it was great. The owner is very personable and very high energy. The huesitos had really nice salsas and the sauces you can use were the best. Definitely a place to go.

Yelp
I was craving breakfast tacos and this place is NOT disappoint! Open at 8am. Delicious ribeye steak and egg tacos, breakfast plate, and a beautiful full bar available. I was highly impressed. The atmosphere reminded me of Mexico for real. Service by Icen was amazing. I could have sworn I was at a 5 star restaurant with the way he presented and explained our meal to us. (That guy is going places!) 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Nice open interior and the food is delicious! Everything was very fresh and tasty- filling but still a bit light so as not to cause you to need nap after enjoying all the options they have. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Surprisingly really tasty tacos. The al pastor was very tasty, came with grilled pineapples. Definitely one of the best taco spots in Dallas!

Yelp
Sergio is great! Love the Pastor and the breakfast tacos with Patricia are awesome. Hang out at the bar or sit down at a table. It's all good.

Hannah G.

Yelp
The torta was excellent It was like a cheeseburger on steroids, 10/10 would come again. The service is incredible. Great drink prices as well. Such a beautiful and clean establishment.

Yelp
Exceptional tacos - truly some of the best in DFW. You might not notice this place from Walnut Hill, but it is definitely worth a visit. Everything is handmade on site, and Sergio is a great host. Full bar and great margaritas. Simply delicious

Yelp
This is a great hidden gem in Dallas. Visited for the first time and the food is great. Breakfast tacos are great. Real Mexican food for great prices. Look forward to more.

Yelp
Creamy queso! Tacos al pastor! YUM! Excellent service! This place is great and quick! Management is always there to help!

Yelp
I've returned to this restaurant several times and they NEVER disappoint! I've usually go to the bar and get a delicious *walnut* horchata. That drink is a dream! The bartender is always friendly and polite. This place is really cool and would happily serve as a spontaneous date night as their decor is displayed joyfully across their walls. I like it, like it a lot!

Yelp
The good: + al pastor taco is excellent +good queso + full bar + friendly service + good prices Needs work: - waited 30 min for our order (5 tacos total) and the place was mostly empty - it's loud in here due to acoustics of the tall ceiling and concrete floors - no kids menu and the high chairs don't fit well Note: this place is new, so they're probably still figuring out processes in the kitchen. I'll try it again in a couple of months.

Yelp
This Dallas new spot is a MUST visit. Elote ribs are amazing and the smoked pork torta so so good and huge. Spicy marg delicous and at 8.00, a great price.

Yelp
Food and drinks were super delicious. I also had the corn ribs, my favorite dish was the pastor tacos! Extra lime and cilantro was not a problem! Salsa verde was perfect consistency and spice. The service was great and the restrooms were very clean. I would definitely recommend

Yelp
Easily the best street tacos in Dallas. The service is excellent. I have yet to eat here and not have one of the owners or managers come up to me and ask me about my experience. Get the puerco and pastor tacos. Huesitos and chips and queso. But everything I've had so far has been excellent.

Bobby C.

Yelp
Best Snapper Taco around including Florida. Skinny Margarita spot on and the Verde "green salsa" is perfect. Pig Ribs dipped in salsa...very good and Famila run which is key.

Yelp
I came here today to get lunch to-go. The place is new, nice and clean. The service was friendly. I didn't know the size of the tacos and I only ordered 4 for 2 people. The tacos are rather small, as you can see in the photo but they are yummy! We got the ribeye, chicken, and pork tacos - all were delicious. We ordered a side of flour tortillas which are obviously homemade, and so warm and tasty. We will be back.

Yelp
This place is a straight banger. The tacos de Puerco are amazing. They get some soft roasted pork, chop up some crackling skin and put it on a handmade tortilla. Incredible. The pastor was a solid contender, too. Ill definitely be back. I hear the quesadilla is really good.

Tony D.

Yelp
Mike & Sergio and their staff knock it out of the park. Everything I've eaten in 6 trips has been great.......pastor trompo and fried snapper tacos are my top taco choices; chicken tinga quesadilla is my favorite dish and unlike anything I've ever had. Last nights specialty was Mexican Meatballs which were perfect! I HIGHLY recommend

Yelp
The fried red snapper tacos are definitely something to recommend off the menu, love the bar it's definitely a great place to kick back and enjoy some good food!

Yelp
We have our favorite Mexican restaurant (as does everyone), but one night we got adventurous, and decided to try Tacos El Metro on Walnut Hill Lane. Tucked in the corner of a small strip mall, El Metro doesn't look like anything special from the outside. Once inside, SHAZAM! Not your typical Tex-Mex style Mexican restaurant. The staff is super friendly and attentive, the bar serves up a full compliment of cocktails, wines and authentic beers, and the food is out of this world (complete with a whole pig roasting in the kitchen!). We tried the Torta Pastor (the owner's own recipe), and Tacos with Gulf Snapper and Carne Asada. Absolutely wonderful! If your favorite hole-in-the-wall is getting long in the tooth, then treat yourself to Tacos El Metro. It's not Javier's Gourmet Mexicano, but it's an authentic Mexican eatery that is easily overlooked. You won't be sorry!

Yelp
Best place ever. I shit you not. Amazing service! Finally a place that takes care of you when you want good service and have a good night. Their red sauce is in incredible! Make sure to order the Mexican quesadilla and the Tortas with ribeye carne asada! I've had breakfast lunch and dinner at this place in the same day. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Shane Z.

Yelp
As always, good service with even better food. Prices are very reasonable. Location is improving regularly. The huesitos are delicious as are the elote ribs.

Yelp
I love this place! Everyone has been telling me how good it is and I finally tried it and I'm here for the second time this week. The food is delicious, the margaritas are amazing and even my kids love it. 10/10!

Yelp
Good stuff. Tomatillo salsa fantastic. Tortillas have great flavor. Rice and beans make nice burrito but need cheese.

Yelp
We finally tried our new neighborhood taco spot for breakfast. The tacos were amazing and the prices are cheap. The service was great and the manager Sergio was so nice to speak with us making us feel welcome. A must try for some good tacos.

Yelp
Great food great service...love the atmosphere and Great addition to the neighborhood! The frozen margos are also highly recommended

Yelp
Service was great, had plenty of space and TVs to watch the game, most of all, the food was wonderful. I recommend the carne asada, pastor tacos and get yourself a chicken quesadilla, it's not your normal kind you see but should be the definition of a quesadilla.

Yelp
Saw this spot last Sunday while picking up pizza from Domino's. So we decided to try it for dinner today, Tues. 8-20-24. I ordered the fajita quesadilla. I thought the quesadilla was going to have the fajita meat inside the quesadilla. Instead, it was just a few pieces of fajita meat on top of the quesadilla. Most of the fajita chunks were fatty meat. And there was an extra charge of $1.25 for the fajita meat. I was not a fan of it, plus it didn't have any flavor was too blant. My husband's plate was better. I should have gone with that choice. He ordered the taco plate puerco el Metro. His tacos had pork meat and pork rinds crunchy. His order came with rice and beans. The rice wasn't good. The rice grains were hard, maybe old rice, it sure wasn't freshly made. This place caters more to other people. I was told of this, and yes, I witnessed it myself today. This place is overrated. Seems like the ac doesn't work it was kinda warm inside the restaurant. Restroom were super clean.

Yelp
Save money and head to torchys or velvet for way better food. Service was poor as well.

Rory C.

Yelp
Great food and service! The ribeye tacos were awesome and reasonably priced! Will definitely go back!

Shaun D.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to Tacos El Metro. The staff were very friendly and the food was great. I had the veggie tacos and they were very good. I will definitely be returning.

Gabriel H.

Yelp
This place is amazing food is excellent! The Margaritas are top notch and the Puerco tacos!

Teresa D.

Yelp
So glad to see this stellar place in our neighborhood! My experience with Mexican food is largely Tex mex from Rafa's, El Fenix or places like Mesero. Metro is unlike these, simpler than Mesero in its offerings but as fresh and delicious with more reasonable prices. Amazing Torta big enough for two. Chicken Tinga quesadilla was unlike any quesadilla I've ever eaten- fried cheese quesadilla with the tinga on top along with lettuce, a drizzle of a sauce and crumbled cheese on top. The huesitos were tender, and delicious with the nopales side. especially liked the one with the red sauce. The pork taco with crispy pork rind on top had a generous, delicious amount of tender meat with toppings on the side in a tortilla that held up to it all. tortillas are made in house, no lard! never had a bunelo before but perfectly light and crispy. I am hooked and my kids loved them too. atmosphere is casual, clean, trendy but not overdone. If Ihad friends or family over for happy hour or lunch or was looking for light dinner/late night tacos, this would be my stop.
