The 25 Best Tacos In Los Angeles

"You can’t fake a great taco al vapor, more or less because there’s simply nothing to hide behind. This purist style from Jalisco involves beef cooked for hours over a steam bath until it practically jiggles, paired with corn tortillas that have been warmed to a custard-like texture. And we consider Tacos El Negro, with locations in South Gate and Bell Gardens, the LA al vapor specialist. At El Negro, nearly everyone orders tacos by the plateful and you should do the same (no joke, this place pumps out more steam than a sauna). Top them with a little onion and cilantro, some creamy thinned-out guacamole—plus a dab of their wicked habañero salsa if you’re feeling masochistic—and savor the beefy bliss." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox, nikko duren

Tacos Negros Review - Pico Robertson - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Tacos Negros is a new spot run by the same people as , a tremendous Southern comfort food restaurant on Pico. The tacos here meld Southern and Caribbean flavors on hand-made tortillas. Think bacalao - salted cod - with potatoes and olives in crispy shells, or callaloo with fried plantains. We recommend you try a few different ones, to get the best sense of the inventive and straight-up fun tacos they’re making here. But whatever you do, make sure you get our favorite: The pan-fried crab cake with pickled okra, which is topped with My Two Cents’ sweet, spicy hot sauce." - Brett Keating

They serve Al Vapor style tacos. Honestly I was surprised by the quality. They aren’t the average taco shop with all the selections you expect but if you want to try something new or something different this is the place. My two favorites were the Cachete (Beef Cheek) and Labio (Beef Lip).

This is my new favorite taco spot! Simple, quick n hot tacos al vapor! Good amount of meat, the menu is small but still really good. The horchata is also good. I wanted to return the next day, I just didn't feel like driving. Looking forward to returning.

This is my favorite place for tacos! Specially some Al vapor it’s really worth it. I come From Inglewood for these. I tend to go from cheeck (cachete) or lips ( labio)
