SUCH DELICIOUS TACOS!!! I ordered the Tacos Birria and my friend got carne asada tacos and we also shared the guacamole and pico de gallo. We loved everything on our table! My friend said “These are the best tacos in Charlotte!” It was my first time eating tacos birria and I was amazed at how delicious the crunchier tortillas and the barbacoa were and the beef broth dip was divine!!! So grateful for another friend’s recommendation. It doesn’t have the strongest AC inside when it’s so hot out but the food was completely worth it!!

Google
So glad a friend recommended Tacos El Nevado in Charlotte, North Carolina. You’re not going there for the ambience. It’s a down and dirty amazing Mexican place. I loved our server- we didn’t speak much Spanish and she didn’t speak much English, but we did fine. The food was so great. The Birria tacos were absolutely delicious with the consommé! We also had other tacos, including Al pastor and Barbacoa. Everything was so delicious. The guacamole was some of the most delicious and fresh I’ve ever had. We also had the queso dip with the chorizo, which was outrageous. We also had a quesadilla, which was perfectly seasoned and crispy! The chips were also super fresh and crispy! I’m so glad I found this place. I can’t wait to go back.

Google
Tacos al pastor and barbacoa were delicious. Service was fast, even with a full house. Guac was good, limey just like I like it! Been there twice now, so far consistent. I wish they had birria.

Pam Martinez

Google
First time trying this place and had some Awesome tacos de birria with cheese, the consomé was delicious, The hot sauce complements them so well. It Was so good I went back two days after and tried their delicious torta con chorizo. Great service Highly recommend this authentic Mexican food.

Monica Mora

Google
Great tacos. I ordered the tripa ones and they were very crispy. I probably will be back to have some more. I tried the asada and the seasoning was a little bit too much. But overall it is a good place for tacos

Jayden Aragon

Google
Food was okay. Overpriced and didn’t refill our drinks or gave our party napkins. And charged us the .15 percent tip for our party. Do not recommend anyone to eat here. Workers just on their phones.

Yelp
Muy poquita carne que le echan los tacos, el servicio estaba más o menos. Tal vez de regreso tal vez no.

Yelp
I've eaten alot of Authentic Mexican food and Taco El Nevado on Central Ave was the worse Mexican food I've ever eaten. Had no flavor and was so bland that we ended up throwing it all in the garbage. And to make matters worse they packed the food up and delivered it in Styrofoam plates that are used at cookouts. No professional business to go containers. Wasted $50 for nothing and will not be ordering from their anymore. We ordered Birria tacos and Gorditas and the taste was so bad. The Birria dipping sauce was basically vegetable oil in a cup with no flavor.

Yelp
I can always rely on this place for properly cooked meat! There is something special about their homemade tortillas that just truly elevates each taco. I only wish their seasoning was more consistent. This plate that I got was all carne asada (photo attached) We also love the beef barbacoa tacos. I see lots of complaints about the price of their tacos (avg $3/per) the restaurant has signs mentioning a price increase due to their cost of goods rising which I think should be taken in to account. I'll always be returning back!

Yelp
This restaurant checks enough boxes for me to get 5 stars! Everything from the looks of this place, to the employees, to the customers just oozes authentic. It very much reminds me of my time in San Diego and even reminds me some of Tijuana! I love the variety of street tacos here. These aren't fancy tacos but they are good! They offer the traditional carne, pollo, carnitas. There are also some more creative options like birria, barbacoa, and lengua tacos. The tacos average in price about $2.75 (which is more expensive than I am used to.. but willing to pay the extra for the genuine flavors). We ordered 7 tacos to-go which were ready in 10 minutes on a very busy Saturday night. Ordering to-go was simple and straight forward. The inside of the restaurant was full but seems to move very efficiently as there was not really a wait. The tacos were great! My favorites were the birria, barbacoa, and carne. I found them the most filling and flavorful! The salsas they provide are spicy! I stuck with the green one as it was more mild. Overall, a good experience and I will consider this place my new taco place for any cravings!

Yelp
I would not recommend this place I ordered Gordita's and I had already touch my plate and the server took it back and gave it to another customer that was very unsanitized and unprofessional I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT

Yelp
I wasn't impressed! First off they don't have any salsa at all. So no chips and salsa on the table to munch on, while you wait for your food. I have to be honest, I'm spoiled, I kinda expect and look forward to that when I eat Mexican. I ordered quacamole , which was good and came with chips. That was a mistake, the grease they used to cook tortilla chips was nasty tasting. I burped that nasty tasting crap for an hour afterwards. I had barbacoa, pollo and carne asada tacos which were very good. I don't think I will be back. It wasn't any better than my local spots and large pain to get in and out of. It's not worth it! I happened to be in the area but the parking lot is horrible as most are in that area. Hard pass for me! One and done!!!

Yelp
Amazing food you won't find anywhere else in Charlotte. We had the Tlayudas it was amazing and enough for 2-3 people.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped into Tacos El Nevado last night because she had an Offline coupon to use. It was $10 off if we were to dine in. To be honest, this is not a place I would have gone to without a coupon. It's a very simple place off of Central Ave and Eastway but I like discovering the local, authentic spots. It was a quaint little spot with a latin market attached. It was fairly busy when we walked in for dinner on a Wednesday night but we were sat right away. The menu was very simple overall. There were traditional Mexican options as well as random American food options like hotdogs and hamburgers. I decided to just make it easy and stick with tacos. I ordered a Carne Asada and Carnitas taco. We were really craving some queso dip but they didn't have it on the menu. We asked our waitress who had a hard time understanding us when we ordered and she shook her head that they had queso. We ordered our food and didn't have to wait very long for it to come out. The tacos were great! The hot sauces were great too. They had these large squirt bottles on every table. One was spicy, the other similar to a Verde and then a creamier one which I assumed had avocado in it maybe? My friend also ordered 2 tacos. I believe she got a carne asada and a chorizo taco. She also ordered a side of rice and beans. The refried beans were yummy but the rice was undercooked and bland. Overall the food was decent but not amazing. I don't think I would go back just because of the location and there are better spots to grab a taco in my opinion.

Yelp
Great taco spot with affordable, authentic, and sizable tacos! I dropped by at 9:15pm on a Friday supposedly past their closing hours, and the place was packed with a long pick-up line! By the looks of all the people there, as well as the menu completely being in Spanish, it seemed like a popular spot! I was satisfied by the amount of meat included per taco, and give the size a 5/5 considering the cheap price! The flavor I'd give a 4/5. It was flavorful, but not spectacular. Would've loved for there to be a bit more spice or tangy flavor. The flavor was predominantly salty, compared to some tacos that have a mixture of flavors in there (I.e. tangy/sweet and salty/spicy). Overall the place seemed great. Restaurant had its spacing but I wouldn't have felt comfortable eating indoors as it did seem tight and crowded. Great location to find other restaurants with different cuisines! Right next to some local markets as well. Easy parking.

Yelp
Good stuff. Great tacos and Horchata. This is our fav Mexican restaurant for takeout.

Yelp
I was introduced to Tacos El Nevado by a friend a little over a year ago and it quickly became my go to taco spot! This location is in east Charlotte off of Central Avenue, I love being able to support a local, authentic restaurant. The chicken and chorizo tacos are my favorite, recently I tried the Birria tacos and they did not disappoint. The Agua Fresca that they serve is always fresh, delicious and refreshing, would definitely recommend ordering if you decide to visit. All in all a great place to frequent, you will not be disappointed!!

Yelp
Fast and good service. All entrees were very tasty. Beer was cold. The menu is extensive with traditional Mexican along with some Honduran Ans El Salvadoran dishes.
google avatar

Brittnee P.

Yelp
Some of the best tacos I've had outside of Mexico. The tortillas taste homemade and the asada tacos are so freaking flavorful and delicious. Also had the chicken quesadilla which was great. Only reason for 4 stars is cuz the rice and the Jamaica were just okay. The sauces were also great and so was the service. Friendly and fast even with it being slam packed. Fair prices as well. We will be back again and again for those tacos.

Yelp
Best tacos in town Small place but flavor is unique in the city by far is the closest you can get to a real Mexican street taco Hand made tortilla made a huge difference

Yelp
I ordered 3 tacos for my workers and they found hair on it. I have picture of it. It's very disgusting and very expensive
google avatar

Wesley F.

Yelp
Great tacos! Had 3 Asada and three Al Pastor to go today, all on corn tortillas. Delicious onions and cilantro, salsa was excellent and tasty. $17 for six tacos, so about $3 each. Wish they were a little more affordable, but they tasted fantastic. Would love to go back and dine in, and see how the rice and refried beans as sides are too.

Yelp
tacos were so good! Cali good and if you know what Cali good means then you know tacos...I was in love with this spot inside and out. Busy during lunch but quick service warm delicious tacos in less than 15 min! I got 10 tacos , pollo, asada , chorizo , carnitas , pastor The salsas with the tacos were so bomb worth the 35 min drive for tacos
google avatar

Devin M.

Yelp
Good was good - but don't expect us to look like the pics on their menu. Still good, just not the same. The Boackberry AquaFresca was DELICIOUS!
google avatar

Mansoor B.

Yelp
This is our favorite spot for Carne Asada. Their service is great and the food is always delicious. We also love the colorful interiors and the upbeat music played in the restaurant creating a lively ambiance.
google avatar

Nelly A.

Yelp
Really bad service, with the years they haven't improved when always try to make an order thru the phone keeps me waiting for 5 minutes or they forgot, once again food is good but the service make you don't want to come back.

Lisa O.

Yelp
Great authentic food. Bi lingual service and Food comes out fast. Welcoming atmosphere and Best tacos in Charlotte!!

Yelp
Man this place brings back memories of living in NY if you want authentic Mexican and authentic tacos come to this spot. I would not recommend the flan but overall food was delicious and service was on point
google avatar

Marshall F.

Yelp
No fuss authentic Mexican restaurant. Excellent tacos at a great price. Will definitely add to the repertoire.
google avatar

Yelp
Authentic, great service, tasty food, fresh food; truly some of the best authentic Latin food in town!
google avatar

Angela D.

Yelp
Never ever again. The place smells old, the food was not good Abe the drinks was $18.99 a piece. However, the waitress had excellent customer service, friendly and personable.
google avatar

Jim W.

Yelp
This popped up as Yelp #1 for a reason. There is NO NEED to scroll down further. As others have noted this is not only the best place to get tacos in CLT, but this is the most authentic place to get tacos in CLT. (I was the lone gringo at lunch ). I had the asada and carnitas. Both, amazingly flavorful. Next time I will try them gringa style. Two homemade salsas and cold cerveza too. The staff is very pleasant. Drive out of your way is you have to. You won't be sorry. (Very clean and following CDC guidelines.)

Yelp
If you are looking for an authentic taco place, look no further! They conveniently have a order online option on their website for pickup, which texts and emails you when the order is confirmed and ready! I've done this twice now and the order has always been ready on time. My favorite is the Cuban torta. I wish they had lengua options but that's ok! They offer the red and green jalapeño sauces with the order, making the meal wonderfully spicy! The torta was $9.99 with lots of flavor -- lettuce, tomato, ham, jalapeños, a slice of hot dog -- it's my favorite on their menu. I've ordered their flan once and it had a consistency of jello and wasn't egg-y enough for me. The birria tacos were good but I wish the broth was beefier and had more aroma of chile. As for the tacos, we've ordered them all. All are delicious except we didn't prefer the lamb because if was gamey.

Yelp
We came here for dinner, great indoor dining experience. Large tables and plenty of space, nice to find indoor dining during Covid. I recommend any of their tacos so tender and fresh ingredients. Also get the Mata Hambre if your hungry looking for a plate to fill you up. Can't wait to try more taco variations.
google avatar

Val V.

Yelp
The Carne asada tacos are absolutely delicious! So are the pork tacos and the chouriço tacos, but the carne asada tacos are my favorite! The tacos here are only $3 so you get a lot more bang for your bucks than you would at a brewery food truck or trendy South End hot spot. My friend enjoyed his burrito, too. This place is very popular so timing is everything if you want a table. Definitely check it out!
google avatar

Lestina C.

Yelp
Service is horrible! Food is not consistent. Re-hear the carne and it makes it super tough. Almost crunchy. Servers are rude. Went back too many times trying to get better service. Got worse. If you are not Hispanic, the service is super bad. Do better.
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
These were truly the best tacos I have ever eaten. I had one Al Pastor and one chicken, and they were both incredibly flavorful! Simple fillings (meat, cilantro, onions) with some fresh radishes and two delicious salsas on the side... and only $2 a piece! This will be my new go-to for tacos in Charlotte!!!
google avatar

Xai V.

Yelp
Satisfied my craving, can't go wrong with steak tacos, refried beans and rice. The steak is season correctly, nice and juicy. The sauces are legit.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
Not sure if the prices are more expensive by ordering online or not but I got 2 burritos and guacamole and it came up to be $47 ... the guacamole was the small size too. I think for the level of quality and customer service any other authentic Mexican restaurant can give you more bang for your buck

Nesh C.

Yelp
No orden por DoorDash compre un taco y no venia con cilantro ni cebolla tampoco venía con rábanos orden una horchata y sabía a arena parecía que era vieja la horchata

Luis A.

Yelp
Awesome food, traditional flavors... seating is not the best and gets full quick. but it is worth the trip!
google avatar

Zuzana K.

Yelp
Probably the best tacos you can find in Charlotte! Good and fast service, great prices and really the food is to die for! Cannot wait to eat more tacos at this awesome place.

Dayana C.

Yelp
Be aware of the 4 % that us, the customers have to pay if we want to pay with card, the little sign is conveniently hidden... and if you ask for more lemon for your tacos, they will charge you $1 for 2 extra lemon wedges. Slow service, short and not friendly at all, we only see the waitress twice, one when the food order was taken and second when she brought the food, we have to stand up and ask for lemons and napkins. The food took 35 min to arrive, and the flavor was not that good.
google avatar

Misha T.

Yelp
My favorite taqueria in Charlotte so far. Shame on you yelpers here for not finding and posting this place yet! My torta oaxaquena was great and full of that stringy cheese that makes it so special. My pastor taco had pineapple chunks mixed in and was pretty solid as well. My recommendation, get a taco and a torta, eat half the torta and the taco for lunch/dinner and save the other half of the torta for an excellent breakfast.
google avatar

Kiera P.

Yelp
Very authentic which is what we were looking for. No taco Tuesday specials and seating can be limited when busy, but overall it was a great experience and the food was yummy.
google avatar

Sydina H.

Yelp
This place is right across the street from us and we did not want to cook! It's a little hole in the wall and the space is not that big, but it was welcoming and comfortable. The language barrier is a little difficult but not too hard. I ordered 3 tacos (chicken, al pastor, and barbacoa), she asked if I wanted onions and cilantro and I said yes. We ordered it to go, and she said it would take about 15 minutes. When we got it home (she included a green sauce) we laid it all out. I squeezed the lime on top and added a little sauce. The flavors of these tacos are AMAZINGGG!! The green sauce had a little kick to it that I was not expecting, but still so good!! This is my new taco spot! I cannot wait to try the other tacos!
google avatar

Venessa B.

Yelp
A quaint spot on Central, this spot has a lot of personality. I loved the murals on the tables & chair & the homey vibe. I came with my parents to try for the first time. The menu isn't too extensive but I came for the tacos. The tacos are $2 each and the Tripa taco is $3 & I can see why. Out of the three tacos and Sope I had the Tripa was by far the best. I tried the carne & el pastor and both were good as well. The tortillas not dry & home made. My dad had the lengua and didn't like but they replaced his sope with carne no charge. I would have given this spot 5 starts but the server was not friendly. We came on a busy Sunday & it seemed like a popular spot.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
What a gem. Yes, it's divey. But it's a Taqueria for God's sake so shut up. (If you think Chipotle is 'Mexican' stay there.) The staff is all friendly, the food is stupid cheap and delicious. Hurriedly ate tacos pollo, carnitas, asada, and barbacoa last night and came back today for lunch Torta Cubana. Other then 'needing' and egg it's on point. And the aguas frescas are so good. I had pear which I'd never seen before. THANK YOU for existing. See you soon amigos.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
I have visited this place twice. I have yet to be disappointed. I've had one of your sandwiches. I've also had their tacos. Everything tasted authentic and delicious. I plan to go every time I visit my daughter and her husband in Charlotte North Carolina.

Jaclyn M.

Yelp
Delicious food. So fresh and really tasty. Would recommend for good, authentic Mexican food in Charlotte!
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
Tacos are good but overpriced service is not great They get mad when you ask for salsa Party of 6 = 2 small salsa packet for the whole table thank god for Lempira & delicias

Yelp
Honestly i like this place food wise. I personally rather order out than dine in. Mostly bc there is a bit of a language barrier which im not going to hate on at all its a mexican restaurant. I got the choriqueso which was great. I got birria tacos which were good but not my favorite because you have to put the onions and cilantro in by hand which is fine but messier. I highly suggest if you dine in to use the menu online instead of the one they give you because it doesnt have all the items. The south blvd location has a bar and they have margaritas but this location doesnt so dont come here if youre looking for margaritas, they do sell beer though. I feel like the place is mostly for carry out orders but they do have some tables. Parking is limited. I saw someone comment they were charged for extra lemons but they gave me 4 limes on the side and in my coronas and i wasnt charged for any of them. Lastly, the prices are about $2 less per item ordering in the restaurant than online which is typical but just saying, u might as well take it to go and order in person if you wanna eat at home. Overall id give it a 7.8/10
