Tacos El Tijuanense

*Delayed post from Feb ‘25 This restaurant took my love of Mexican food to another level. I’ve eaten birria ramen in Cozumel, Mexico before, but these tacos are something else. The tacos dorados were so crunchy and greasy, but in the best way! The quality of the meat speaks for itself, but I also loved how many options they had available in their toppings bar. The inside has such a cool, modern street vibe with the wall art, neon signs and colorful banners. There’s plenty of parking in the lot and lots of seating inside. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table.

Absolutely love it hear, one of my favorite Mexican dining spots in the Valley. Super friendly staff and a bar with onion, cioantro, salsas, jalapeños & carrots, pickled onions, lemons/limes, etc. They have a self serve fountain drink machine as well as a self serve aguas machine with Horchata, jamaica, and some other drinks. Great selection of alcohol, lots of beers and also some mixed drinks. Also has a selection of bottled drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic). Busy on weekends and dinnertime but food is always out quickly even when they’re busy! Highly recommend ♥️

Ehhhh, I won't be returning. I tried a taco of every meat. The cabeza was good, however, the birreria was bland shredded beef (not juicy), the carne asada was dry and bland and the al pastor was oily and greasy, yet somehow still hard and dry. Totally flavorless. It's like all the meats were reheated and used over and over till they're dried out. Oh, but good salsa bar! Perhaps their other items could be better, but I don't think so with such flavorless and dry meats.

Ever since Tijuanense opened up, I have lost all desire for all of the other small Mexican restaurants. They are absolutely delicious. Every item on the menu is great. And all the people who work there are so nice. They remember and treat their regulars like family. And the atmosphere is everything! All in all, I have never had a complaint. And I have been there about twice a week for at least a year now. This is the authentic food I have been searching for. Thee best birria anywhere!

One of the things I love to do when traveling outside of the country is trying out their food. Tijuana has by far the best tasting tacos. I've tried to find a place in the US that has the same taste but I've yet to find one. This place is as close as you're going to get. Here you can find tacos with Tijuana flavor and salsa to die for. I will come back to try out other items on their menu but so far I'm very impressed. I tried the birria taco, taco estilo Tijuana, and their mulitas (Mu-lee-tas). The birria was flavorful and NOT dry like at other places. The taco estilo Tijuana was as close to a Tijuana taco you can get and you don't have to drive hours to get one. But I think it's beat out buy their mulitas. A Mulita is basically a taco with another tortilla on top and with melted cheese inside. I loved it. 10 out of 10 for sure. The tortillas must be heated in lard or something because even the tortillas are tasty. This is a must try.

I tried the birria tacos , they were delicious. The avocado in them was what made me want to order them. I think this place is known for its birria so I went for that. Atmosphere was nice, and the service was excellent. Food was brought to our table very fast.

December 19,2024 I tried their Queso tacos and their carne asada burrito. I honestly didn't like them that much because I have been to other better ones but they're ok. I give this place a 3 star rating.

Great food, friendly service. The restaurant is clean, so are the bathrooms. Good choice of additions at the salsa bar and the fountain coke tastes like the bottled coke from Mexico. Found a gem in walking distance from my home and plan to return many times! My only request is please add Al Pastor to the main menu. And maybe a molcajete salsa! Overall delicious food and the adult beverages are nicely varied. Try the house lager!

All the food here is great. Authentic Mexican food. The Birria Tacos are fire. Service is very quick. I come here once a week it's about 10 minutes from my house.

It's crazy I just recently found out about Tacos El Tijuanense. I literally drive by this spot daily, and no not that type of drive by. I just couldn't believe I didn't know sooner. I feel like I left the valley down for not leaving a review sooner. However shoutout the homie Ray for introducing me to this gem. Let me start off by saying the location is a vibe. I wish I would have clean up nicer for my first visit. I pulled up looking like I had just left a tinder date and did the walk of shame. You get me right? Grey sweats, hoody , mismatch socks, and some slides. Well if you pull up clean up nice. I wish I would have pulled up in that fire jacket and flared denims Kendrick wore for the superbowl performance. Back to the restaurant, shoutout the owner for putting them neon lights and painting of legends on the wall. Seeing that lets you know the owner has good taste in music! Now let me tell you about the food! When I tell it's fire I mean it's Spyro the dragon fire! It's Charizard on Venasaur fire. It's I should have never linked up with her , now I'm itchy, fire. Everything I've ordered has been a hit. Literally no misses like Lauryn Hills Miseducation album. Birria Tacos are my go to, in case you're looking at the menu and have a hard time making a choice. Or in case your girl is mad at you cause she couldn't make a choice on what to eat, and you see this review and end up here. Now she is happy inside ,but can't show you she's happy cause then she'll lose the argument. Y'all get me! Also yes I know there's some run on sentences here. Chillll Ms.Sargent! Haha. Stopped in with family after rave reviews from my dad. Decent sized menu and they offer alcoholic drinks too. What they are missing from the menu is non- meat options because I love a good fish or shrimp taco. We ended up ordering two plates of various tacos, asada quesadilla, and cheese nachos. I thought I ordered a margarita but after a bit of waiting checked the receipt and they didn't catch that while placing the order. The food alone came down to $60+, I don't feel like the portions or quality equated to that price but the food was fine, nothing special.

First time and we will be back. Nice local casual eatery. The staff is English limited but very friendly. My wife and I stopped for a quick lunch after grocery shopping nearby market in the same strip mall. We enjoyed the birria combo, taco dorados, and the Tijuana style tacos with guacamole.

The tacos with the guacamole were so good! They have a salsa and condiments bar. Very small place bit I love the ambiance of it!. The ladies at the register are very nice and polite. Would be going there again for the tacos.

This place has delicious burritos. The meat is not too fatty and has a good meat to beans/rice ratio . Red sauce is spicy and the green sauce is mild and they're both delicious. Tacos are good too- they have hand made tortillas for tacos which I don't really like (I'm aware everyone else likes them it's just not my thing lol)

Tacos el Tijuanese always hits the spot!!!!:.10$ lager pitchers you can't beat that all!!!.. I always get the birria fried tacos so bomb and I add more cilantro and onions and more red sauce on my tacos. I've also had there quesa birria tacos and wow those are fire as well!! U really can't go wrong with anything from here at all! The seating are verry nice as well and the staff is always nice to me. If I want tacos from anywhere this is my go to spot hands down

First Time trying this place. Food is amazing. Portions are generous. Quality of the meat is excellent. Fast quick service. Restaurant is clean and well lit. Super impressed with the food. If you're in the North Hills area give it a a try and you won't be disappointed.

Discovered this gem through Instagram, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is tucked away in a shopping center, making it a bit of a hidden treasure. I was craving tacos, and this place delivered--they were absolutely soul-satisfying. The birria consommé as a dipping sauce elevated the tacos to another level. Service was quick and efficient, even though we stopped by during a busy late afternoon. There was plenty of seating available, and parking was super convenient with spots all around the restaurant.

Its okay nothing to hype up about got the Tijuana style asada tacos they were a bit salty and to be honest tasted like any other basic street taco except with fancy wrap and a bunch of diluted guacamole on-top. Prices are fair, service is good, place looks clean.

Service was ok. Tacos are extra small! $3+ Birria taco was almost cold. Asada taco = meet was smelly. Consomé was good. Won't come back .

Ample parking, clean, busy for mid day afternoon, that's good sign Staff was welcoming, food came out quickly.

I've been here many times--that's how much I like it. If you're looking for delicious and clean tacos, this is the place to go. For me, they have the best tacos, especially the birria tacos and consome.

Walked over to the food truck on Ventura Blvd, easy to spot the large red truck with the line! Ordered the Tijuana tacos and the Birria. Generous portions of tender juicy meat! Loved all of the salsa and guac and oil a, cilantro they put on the tacos as well. They aren't skimping here. Ordered a side of chips and guac and everything was fantastic! They do have a little table you can sit there but I recommend just grabbing it to go like we did! Very happy with the price and product, high quality ingredients! The workers were so nice as well.

Best Chile relleno burrito and their tostaditas de asada are so delicious. Great service

Can't wait to go back and try more!! There al pastor Vampiro tacos were straight gas!!! Had six Tijuanense tacos with pollo and carne and killed those of in like 2.2 as well. Real Fatbackness goin down over here!!! You must try!!!

My friend and I visited this past Saturday. We ordered a variety of food, to just be able to taste different things. Initially, the line was long, but we found it to move fast. One of the cashier spoke minimal English, so that was a bit frustrating for asking questions and ordering, but we made it happen. We dined in. It was busy and the noise was consistent with what you'd expect from a crowded place, but it wasn't too bad. The food came pretty quickly considering how busy they were. I had quesabirria with consome, a regular asada taco, and a pastor taco with guacamole. It was all delicious, and I was happy that the asada didn't have a lot of fat. My friend had an asada torta and pozole. I tasted her food as well, and it was very good. I enjoyed my food so much, I decided to order a birria burrito with consome to-go. I had a great experience, and I look forward to returning in the near future.

I'm someone that travels to Mexico consistently. One of the reasons I love travelling to LATAM is the food. It is hard to beat, and few establishments back home compare. However, this place comes very close. I first came here on my friend's recommendation. We came here for lunch on a weekday, and the wait was not long. I opted for the birria tacos. They were hearty and delicious. I've also had their birria torta. They are generous with the meat portions, which is a huge plus in my book. The birria is cooked with beans and spices, which gives it a kick of flavor. The ambience is pretty chill on weekdays, and I'm sure this place gets packed on weekends. They have an assortment of beers, sodas, and mineral water. They have a bar with an assortment of salsas, jalapeños, and veggies. The green and the red sauces were equally delicious, so you can't go wrong with either of them. The staff here is friendly, and they processed our order in a timely manner. I recommend them wholeheartedly. Give them a try!

We've been here a few times. The tacos are always on point. Portions are big, and they don't cheat out on the meat. We got al pastor, birria, quesataco w/ carne asada, and lengua. All were . The unit thing I didn't like was that we had to order the consume separately, which doesn't make sense when ordering any birria tacos. I got the house beer, which was pretty good... tasted similar to Modelo. The vibe was dope with tvs, bar lights/ signs, and plenty of dine in tables.

Went here for lunch this Friday from a recommendation of a co-worker and it was delicious! I ordered 2 birria quesatacos & 1 tijuana taco with carne asada. They were delicious and full of filling. They definitely give you what you pay for here. The birria tacos were cheesy and full of flavor and I got a side of consome to dip them in and they were so good. The carne asada taco was filled to the brim and the meat was flavorful, juicy, and not dry. The guacamole on top was fresh and the tortillas were well-cooked. They have a salsa bar by the drink fountain with onions, cilantro, carrots, & various salsas. There are plenty of tables and seating here with several TVs showing sports games. They also have affordable drink specials here too and it's a great hangout spot on the weekends with friends or families. An easy recommended spot for Mexican food if you are in the Van Nuys area!

I've been here many times and my experience is always amazing. Food is always good most especially their birria and I can't skip on their consome as well. Service is always fast. From the first I tried them, until my last visit on valentines day, they never exceeded 5 minutes and your food has been served already. High recommended

Uhhhh.. this place is amazing. Order at the counter, get a number, and the food is served to you when it's ready. Hot and delicious!!! The salsa bar is very good. Lots of crunchy veg and salsa/hot sauce options. Loud music, festive decor, lots of seating at long tables. It's all good!!

First time coming to this location. It's so much more specious than their other sit down spot. The menu is simple but everything is well made. Customer service was beyond good. So my order came out wrong twice, small mistakes and the lady at the register changed my tacos both times with a smile and with no hesitation. Other places get upset or annoyed over what may seem like an insignificant issue. As previously said the food at all locations including the trucks is delicious. I have a new favorite, the birria quesadilla!! So good! Also the lengua tacos are up there, perfectly tender and well seasoned. I think I found my new spot for birria here and tacos.

Not great, messed up on my order and missing items. I don't recommend this place as they don't see to value customers. UPDATE: As I take more and more bites the food quality is extremely disappointing. The tortilla was dry and crusty, the meat portion is small. The only flavorful thing was the red hot sauce and their lime.

The asado tacos are delicious. The meat was very juicy and flavorful. The tacos dorados with birria were good, a bit too greasy but not bad. The menu at the counter could use some improvement as it's a bit unclear and difficult to read the items and prices. However, I would definitely consider returning in the future.

This is my second time coming by because the first time was great! Visiting a friend Tacos El Tijuanense is really close to their place. I wanted to check it out and we made it a plan during our hang out. The first time I visited I had a good experience. The place was well done up inside. There was music playing and a small line to order. I ordered 6 tacos total to go. When the cashier asked me if I wanted everything in the tacos I said yea, not knowing what everything included. I was given some salsa cups and sandwich bags to load up with some goodies at the salsa bar. By the time I got to eating I noticed that there was no need to load up at the salsa bar. All tacos were fully equipped with onions, cilantro, salsa and guacamole. There were some additional things you could pick up at the salsa bar such as pickled onions, jalapenos and sliced radish. The tacos were fully loaded and totally worth their value. Most recent my friend and I made the same exact plans. I ordered 6 tacos again and a drink to go. When the food arrived I noticed my container was smaller. I counted 4 tacos. The lady must not have heard me correctly. But before I ordered the tacos I did say "I am going to order 6 tacos. 2 Cabeza, 2 Al Pastor and 2 Asada." Trying to made it as clear as possible, the order was rung up incorrectly. I never said anything and just too the L with the 4 tacos that I was charged. What I found out the following day after looking at my receipt was I was charged for 2 drinks, while only ordering one. Now I kinda felt cheated. First they didn't get my taco order correct and second they charged me for 2 drinks while only receiving one cup. I can't tell if the music was too loud and the lady didn't fully understand or if there was a language barrier somewhere. Anyways. i would like my drink that I paid for but didn't get. Parking: medium sized private lot VERDICT: Rinse and repeat

Man, I just found this place a few days ago and I've already been there twice! The pozole was really good, the tacos estillo Tijuananese are amazing, and the chille relleno burrito was perfect! Must try my fellow yelpers!

Their California burrito is perfection! Service is on point, and it's a great place to catch the game.

Service is good, the inside is nice, but the food is just mediocre. I've gone back 3 times to see if it was just an off day and each time my food did not have any flavor. They have a salsa verde that is very delicious though, so I lathered my food with that.

Queso tacos birria was really good with the side of consome - recommend Asada nachos did not like it. Cheese was melted only on one side of the plate, meat was probably handful Asada quesadilla was good Gotta come back and try there michalada's since they make the base in house.

I went on a weekday night with my boyfriend and there were plenty of seats available and the wait time for our order was pretty short. They take the order to the table. They have a salsa bar as well as extra cilantro and onions. I didn't know they served the tacos with the cilantro and onions already but I made sure to finish it still. The tacos estilo de Tijuana had the taste I was looking for, it had the charred taste! Portions were generous for the price. The birria tacos were so juicy and the consome had the right flavor and kick to it! The ambiance felt pretty open with TV playing sport games. Parking was easy with plenty of them in the strip mall. The service was fast and friendly. I'm looking forward to coming back!

Twas the night before Sunday and all through the house, not a creature was cooking...because it was "hotter than sh_t out!" My daughter and I were both craving Mexican so I opened up my "Mexican Food" yelp collection and my eyes laid upon this place. Not too far and no traffic so it was a no brainer! The inside is very spacious and simple. Nothing fancy but the walls have lots of art work and murals. We ordered: 1 Quesadilla Barria with the works inside absolutely yummy!!! 3 Carne Asada corn tortilla tacos 3 Chicken corn tortilla tacos (they use breast meat if you are wondering) While we waited we gathered our taco fixings to go at the salsa bar. 10 later our order to go was ready. *I had to remind myself to take pics first when we got home because I was a "starvin Marvin!" Definitely going back here. I am already dreaming about the Quesadilla Barria!!! Made with shredded beef, cheese, cilantro, onions & salsa *Plenty of parking in the lot. *Plenty of seating inside *Great for families

I really like the food here but omg they have the music so loud you can't even order properly or hear the conversation your having at your table. This needs to be fix and have the music turned down to a decent level so you can at least order your food with out yelling to the cashier. It's a restaurant not a club.

These shady place only make effective the happy hour prices or any other promotion if you pay in cash!!!.... Margaritas are nasty , but the worst part is the cash thing.. never going back.

Had my bf pick up some food for me since I didn't have much of an appetite when he went with our friend. I ordered a burrito and he brought home some Birria tacos as well. I started eating the burrito and the mild sauce was way too spicy for my unfortunately. We had some mild salsa in the fridge that I ended up using along with some lime, otherwise the burrito is too dry to me. I tried some of his Birria tacos since it's been a hot minute and we ended up trading food lol. I loved the Birria and they added some shredded beef into the consommé as well? Not sure if that's just how they normally do it or if they just gave it to him like that because they tossed the one he had while cleaning up earlier when he ate there LOL. Delicious and would definitely come back for their Birria tacos!

Yummy. First time coming. Went to the one in Northridge. Need to go to the North Hills location so I can have beer with my tacos.

Love this place. Food is always on point, seasoned well, and the portions are big. The menu has something for everyone, even picky kiddos. There is also plenty of seating and also plenty of parking. The only downside is that the inside of this place is always freezing so bring a jacket :)

Tacos El Tijuanense is a hidden gem that every taco lover needs to experience! The food is simply amazing--each taco is packed with flavor, from the perfectly seasoned carne asada to the tacos dorados. The salsas are fresh and add just the right amount of kick. The service is top-notch; the staff is friendly, attentive, and always ready with a great recommendation. The ambiance is casual and inviting, with a vibrant environment. They have a dj every Tuesday and he was so good! Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a meal with friends or family this place is a winner. Highly recommend!

Came here on a recommendation. Parking ample but a little challenge since they're located behind Bobs Big Boy. Establishment has very limited seating inside. I ordered the Birria Combo plate. Generous portions of Birria. I wish they could've served more rice and beans and beans and extra tortillas. Everything was absolutely delicious and flavorful. Restaurant was clean. It was busy, but they were managing the lines very well. My wait to get my food was about five minutes. Everything was hot and fresh. They give you sliced lemon wedges and salsa. I will definitely come back and would definitely recommend this spot.

Food was delicious and flavorful. Got a few burritos to go and they traveled and warmed up well. Love the Cali burrito. Taco Tuesdays are great deal.

Staff is nice. Parking lot provided for this fast casual spot with lists of indoor seating. You order at the register then they bring your food to your table. Pricing and portions are very good. They have a happy hour menu as they serve alcohol. They have a yummy salsa bar despite dressing the food perfectly. Food is delicious. I recommend the Tijuana style tacos. The carne asada was superior to the lengua, pollo, and birria all of which were still good. A 4.5 star that I will round up since I can't wait to go back. Definitely a go-to for tacos when I'm nearby.

Taco Tuesday's are the best!!! Ronnie the DJ is almost as awesome as the tacos (Tijuana style) and the margaritas ( buy one get one free)!!! The chile relleno burrito (add carne asada $3 extra) is phenomenal!!! Maybe next time I'll take a picture of the food instead of the fun me and my girls had!!!

Truth to be told, we only came here because the Thai restaurant we were aiming at was closed. The salon is quite big and we dined in. You make your order at the counter and they deliver to your table. There were quite a few options and they have some pictures of the food which I always appreciate. Tables were dirty so we have to pick the least dirty one. The music was too loud for my taste, you have to speak loud if you want to have a conversation. But I was pleasantly surprised by the food, that was really flavorful. I ordered the Tacos Dorados and they were incredible! The tortilla itself was full of flavor, and the filling was very well seasoned. They also have fries + tortilla for appetizers , which is a good option when you don't want to choose between both. It came with a tender chopped chicken on top with other local sauces and cheese. It was very spicy, so if you can't handle, make sure you ask the server to take out the salsa. Overall it was a good experience and I would come back for the food. Just wished the server had warned us about the spicyness, because my friend could not finish her plate because she could not handle.

This place serves really good tacos. First, let me say that the ambiance is clean, and the colorful decor adds a nice touch. However, it's a bit unusual for a sit-down restaurant that you have to order your food at the cashier. On the bright side, they also have a bar, which is a nice addition. I ordered the quesabirria tacos, while my friends chose the tacos al pastor. After ordering, you're given a number and can sit anywhere you like. Our food arrived in about 10-12 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. The quesabirria tacos were amazing--packed with flavor and a nice crunch. Overall, I'd rate this place a 4.6

First time going to this spot, i've only gone to the taco truck they have on Louise/Sherman Way. This place is pretty big and very clean. The ambiance seems chill, alot of to go orders not that many folks eating in. The service is excellent and the food came out pretty quickly. They have a big selection of Mexican Beers and they have beers on draft as well. The food Is good just like the taco truck. Overall I was pleased, only setback is the music it's too loud for my liking.

Tried this place yesterday! I ordered 3 birria dorado tacos w consome. I was shocked when they told me the price, turns out they have a good list of happy hour specials. Great deal. The tacos were really juicy birria, the consome and red salsa were both good. They have a salsa bar and cute taco neon signs. Recommend!
