"This neighborhood taco shop and carniceria, which sits in the shadow of the 51 freeway, has been pumping out tacos and other Mexican food basics since 2002. Over the years, it’s earned a slew of awards and a passionate fan base for its nine meat-based tacos, including carne asada, lengua, cabeza and cecina (thin strips of salt-cured beef). But the al pastor tacos, marinated in adobo and slow roasted on a trompo (the vertical spit introduced to Mexico by Lebanese immigrants) are Huicho’s signature dish. Drop by on Taco Tuesday for reduced prices on already affordable tacos." - Nikki Buchanan

Google
One of the best taco spots in Phoenix! The carne asada is delicious! The staff is great I recommend you try Tacos Huico!! They have pozole I will have to come back to try it! I’ll let you know how it is!

Google
While in Phoenix for work this place was recommended to us. We tried it for the first time and let me tell you this place is a hidden gem if you haven't tried it. The food was delicious the masa quesadilla was different and new. It was flavorful and the pastor was perfect. I was expecting a small portion so I ordered the birria tacos however I couldn't finish that I took a bite for taste. I had a large cup of the cucumber drink and it was so refreshing. If you're in the Phoenix area and haven't tried it, you will not be disappointed!!

Nicholas Montoya

Google
Great tacos at an unbeatable price. Tried the tacos and tamales which were great as well. They have a ton of combos which is sure to satisfy whatever craving you may have.

Jim Buchelt

Google
The food is always superb. The service is good—but due to the excessive boombox’s loud noise, it’s then difficult to always hear clearly the order when called. Still, it’s very clean, and the atmosphere is welcoming as well as accommodating. I would recommend it.

Google
I’ve been coming here for 4 years because the asada tacos are good. But they have continuously gone up on prices and skimpy with what they give you. French fries for $5 and a side of lettuce for $1. Please see portions…I will not be going back. They even charge extra for an extra sauce. They only give you 2 sauces regardless of how many tacos you order.

Jon Peterson

Google
Excellent & authentic taqueria! Between the three of us, we had tacos de lengua, cabeza, pastor, asada and chorizo. They were all very good. We then shared an order of quesabirria which was also outstanding. This was the best quesabirria that we have had in the US. The red and green salsas were also top-notch! The staff was very friendly.

Google
This is a must stop. The tacos and asada fries were some of the best I’ve ever had. Huge menu with lot of food options. Will definitely be back!

Google
Great food! The prices have gone up to $2-$2.50 a Taco, so the pictures of the menu are outdated. Overall most of the menu items have gone up in price. Wish they were cheaper but still good

Yelp
On my first day in Phoniex, I heard that tacos are delicious here, so I did a little digging and found that Tacos Huicho was one of the best hole-in-the-wall taco shops in Phoniex. And the people weren't wrong!! For a hefty meat-filled taco for 2.25$ each, these tacos hit the spot! I got a few different selections of tacos and each kind of meat did not disappoint. It was tender and flavorful. They also provide green and red salsas, and I use a little of each on every taco, and it took the taco to the next level. I also got a side of banana horchata (since I've never seen it back home), and it was creamy, fruity, with just the right amount of sweetness. Whenever I'm visiting Phoenix and need a fix of tacos, I will definitely come to this spot!

Yelp
Still my Taco Tuesday go-to, tacos are now $1.50 on TT. I love the pastor, which has flavor like no other, and it comes off that spit. New sauce once again, I think this was less spicy than the one that they had last month which LOOKED the same but will blaze your mouth a tad which is what I want...... I need to try the quesabirria tacos with consomme, slightly cheaper than my 8 tacos on TT...... PRO-TIP:::::: If the parking lot is full, expect to wait 20 mins for your order. INSIDE SKINNY:::::: Those grilled onions are free, ask for some. Given in a foil wrap. GREAT on whatever or or getting messy fingers! There's a jalapeno in there too.

Jim B.

Yelp
The food is superb. The service is good [-although it would've easier to hear if the boombox wasn't on full blast-]. It's older--but very clean, too.

Lydia A.

Yelp
Amazing tacos. Best taco Tuesday. $1.50 per taco. Also got a taco platter with delicious rice and beans. Got a huge drink of hibiscus tea. Will be back!

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place sooner. This is one of my go to favorite taco spot. Tacos Huicho is a staple in the community and have been coming here for years. It is always busy and for good reason. Their food is really good, I have loved everything I've had here but the staple is their street tacos. It's very good quality meat and flavor for the price. I especially love that they also have a dessert section with ice creams and antojitos for after your meal. 10000/10 recommend.

Mary M.

Yelp
Food was too greasy, the birriatacos weren't crunchy, they were soggy, and I saw the lady pouring water from the sink to the horchata. I initially decided to stop by due to the great reviews. I wish my experience was good. I won't be going back. The guy that took my order was nice and respectful. That was the only good experience I had.

Melanie A.

Yelp
The meat was nice and crispy, but the portions were small. The tacos were made a little sloppy, I wasn't really crazy about them. The service was good, the guy at the front took my order quickly and was nice. The ambiance is so so, it's clean but nothing really fancy. I probably wouldn't come back, but wouldn't avoid it either if I was hungry.

Ray S.

Yelp
Best Tacos in the valley. Only place I'm going when I need some genuine, non white-washed tacos. Plus you can buy beer Nextdoor at the corner store

Alicia L.

Yelp
Food is very good and the restaurant was very clean. Definitely recommend to come here for some nice tacos

Kaitlyn Z.

Yelp
I love tacos huicho! There's never been a time where they fail me. The food is always fresh, hot and most importantly delicious. The staff there are always really friendly and make sure it's clean in there. They are usually pretty busy, but the food comes out with reasonable time. This time we ordered to go, and the quality was just as good as in restaurant, they pack some cucumbers, and salsas, which is really helpful. If you are looking for authentic tacos, this is the place! Also my favorite fresh fruit water is pineapple!

Maya K.

Yelp
Tacos Huicho is my FAVE taco spot in Phoenix! There's a good reason why this spot is always poppin, they are (imo) the best in Phoenix! I always go with the tacos (pastor + asada + chicken) or the pozole which is only served on the weekends. Their aguas frescas are also delicious! Make sure to ask for grilled onions on the side, game changer!! The service here is decent i wouldn't say it's top tier but its good enough. On busy days it may take a little while waiting in line but the food comes out fairly quickly. I love that there's lots of seating and they keep it tidy in the dining area. The parking can be a hot mess on busier days since it's a small lot but we never have issues finding a spot. Highly recommend Tacos Huichos if you've been on the hunt for good tacos :)

Troy L.

Yelp
Most authentic and best taco place I've been to in my entire life. Absolutely unreal.

Ji L.

Yelp
If you want authentic Mexican, this is it. I have been looking for tripas tacos and it did not disappoint. Good prices for good portions

Grace D.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for authentic and reasonably priced tacos. I'm constantly surprised when people get excited to pay $4 a taco somewhere inferior. It's often busy here, but they deserve to have a line out the door constantly for the price and value. It's always worth the wait (which is usually shorter than it looks). My family and I usually go for tacos, but I've also tried the torta, quesadilla, and burrito and never been disappointed. My go to order is three pastor tacos and a (free) side of grilled onions. Their house green salsa is the best, and always available to drizzle on anything. If you're getting food to go, they'll throw in little cups of the salsas, but I prefer eating on the spot to enjoy how fresh everything is. Pro tip: pay attention to your number being called in Spanish. The employees are not always/exclusively speaking English. Also, get the rice pudding cup.

Lino I.

Yelp
Best tacos in the valley!! After every Dbacks home game you'll catch me here! Food always comes out in a timely manner and the restaurant gives a very home vibe. 1000% tacos Huicho are the best in the entire state of Arizona

EM M.

Yelp
My rating is based on the dish I had. My friend had the tacos and he said they were flavorful. I had one of their vegetarian dishes and it was okay. I also ordered a side of chips and they were pretty hard. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean.

Kelly L.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and knew I had to try it during my trip here in Phoenix, and let me tell you it did not disappoint! Came around 1pm on a Saturday and there were lots of tables and seats but by the time we started eating about 20 minutes later it was packed. Tried the steak, pastor, lengua, and tripe tacos. Also had a chicken sope. I think my favorites were the steak and tripa, so delicious!!!! Also had a horchata (not my favorite, wish it had more cinnamon). Workers were nice, food came out in about 20 minutes which was fine since we ordered 16 tacos, 1 sope, and 1 menudo. Prices were great too (back home tacos are $3/taco so this place was a steal for us, jealous of those who live here!) Definitely come here, come hungry, and be patient, food is worth it!

Kerry B.

Yelp
Love their fruit tamales and incredible street tacos. My favorite place in Phoenix by far!!

Annette M.

Yelp
This might be my new favorite place for tacos/mexican food!! I always order their alambre classic with pastor. It has bell peppers, onions, & cheese all cooked together. You're given a couple of small street tacos corn tortillas & you build your own tacos. Their salsas & guacamole are really good as well. I will say their service is a little slow, however it is worth it!

Dong T.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to try food here after hearing so many people within my circle recommend this place. Swung by for an early early lunch on Tuesday (recommended as they do get a significant lunch rush during normal hours as most fellow yelpers have mentioned in their reviews) and ordered 3 al pastor tacos, 3 chorizo tacos and their quesabirria tacos (3 in an order, comes with a cup of consommé). Everything was ordered over the phone for pick-up order. I also requested grilled onions/jalepenos which they offer complimentary but they forgot to include it and I was pretty let down when I unpacked the food. Overall, I was underwhelmed. The tacos were dry and salty and I could hardly taste the queso in the the quesabirria tacos. The consommé was pretty darn tasty and flavorful though I will agree with others on their review that this place's salsas are fantastic. Good, cheap, decent food, but I do not think I would go out of my way to come back.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
$1.25 TACO TUESDAY. $1.75 every other day. They give you a side of LIMES, CUCUMBER, & RED/GREEN SAUCE. The red sauce does pack some heat. The PASTOR & ASADA meat were both tasty. You can see the pastor rotating on the spit behind the counter. The tacos are a bit on the smaller side so order 1 or 2 more than you usually would The HUICHO ALAMBRE is a combination of grilled meats (pastor, asada, & ham) with bell pepper, onions, pineapples, & cheese. They were light on the cheese in my opinion. I wasn't even sure it had any until you mix it more. They give you a side of tortillas to build your own taco. They do DOUBLE stack their tortilla. I was able to make about 6 tacos from this entrée. Satisfied a craving for a decent price

Liliana A.

Yelp
Someone tells me they want tacos..I bring them straight here! This place is honestly a 10/10 here in Phoenix. They have several locations but this one is the OG! They also have a great taco Tuesday deal

Ricardo R.

Yelp
Super bomb. these tacos are like the definition of "i want some tacos" and never being disappointed that you went to get them cuz you know they're always going to be good.

Mark H.

Yelp
Hands down the best carne asada fries that I've had. The portions are generous and the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. I look forward to exploring more of their menu!

Ryan D.

Yelp
Nice authentic restaurant with very friendly staff who make someone the most authentic Mexican food in the area at a great price. Would highly recommend the quesabirria tacos.

Keegan P.

Yelp
Some of the best tacos I've found so far in the valley. The meats have that nice little bit of char that really sets off the flavors and the salsas are fresh with a kick! Casual, local taqueria with great service and lots of seating. Why go anywhere with "bertos" in the name when places like this exist!?

Hunter H.

Yelp
Some may see I reviewed this spot 2 years ago, it's gone really down hill as far as service, consistently have to wait 20+ minutes for my order, when the place is packed or empty, it's sad because I work in service at a nice restaurant and it takes us half the time to make 4 star entrees... I always tip 20% here and with the rising prices, I don't think I will continue to do so because of the lack or employee effort... Food is still amazing btw

Tanya B.

Yelp
DELICIOUS. Parking is easy. It's ALWAYS busy around lunch and dinner. It's a nice atmosphere to sit and wait on your meal. It's just a neighborhood restaurant that happens to serve really good food

Nicole S.

Yelp
Tacos Huicho is a hidden gem here in Phoenix. They have some of the best tacos I've had around the Valley, and I keep coming back. Here's the order: - Tacos al pastor (with pineapple) - Carne asana tacos - Pollo tacos - Gringa quesadilla - Arroz con leche - Horchata Get the tacos "with everything" -- cilantro and onion -- or just cilantro/just onion/neither. The sauces are the bomb. My favorite is the green one. Orders come with limes and sliced cucumber and radish. Every once in a while I'll branch out and order something new, and I'm never disappointed. If you want some delicious tacos, this place is a must visit.

Nuance N.

Yelp
Drink options were sparse. They don't allow outside drinks and expect tipped when you stand to order / pick up your own food. Poor seating.

Manuel D.

Yelp

Deni G.

Yelp
Great Neighborhood Spot I was craving street tacos and decided to try Tacos Huicho based on all the positive Yelp reviews. I have to admit this hidden gem has some of the tastiest tacos I've had in a long time, and the price is right at $1.50 on Taco Tuesday. The steak, chicken, and pastor tacos were all delicious. The meat was moist and flavorful, and the salsa added just the right amount of kick. The atmosphere was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the tacos were delicious. It's one of those unique places that make you feel at home. The location is a little unassuming, but once you get over that, you'll be enjoying authentic Mexican in no time. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Riley O.

Yelp
These are my favorite tacos in phoenix. You can find me here every Taco Tuesday, 1.25 tacos are hard to find. Aside from the tacos, their combo plates are good portions. I like that their rice is nice and fluffy. You order at the counter and while most the staff speaks spanish, there's always someone who can answer my questions. Overall a clean restaurant! Loved the upgrades after the renovation :)

Juan H.

Yelp
The pastor tacos were ok but the chorizo tacos reminded me a lot of El Rancherito in Van Nuys, CA. I enjoyed how crispy the meat was. Interior gave me that Van Nuys feel too, it felt like home. Love it all.

Eddie Z.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great street taco experience this is your go to spot. I ordered 5 tacos on my Uber order (2 pastor/asada and one lengua) and let me tell you I was very impressed in terms of meat flavor, meat to tortilla ratio, and price. My order included a green avocado and red salsa both which have a good level spiciness and flavorful. Overall, I would highly recommend tacos Huicho if you're looking for authentic street tacos

Miranda A.

Yelp
Great spot for a bite to eat. Stopped by before our flight out of Phoenix and we were not disappointed.

Eduardo N.

Yelp
Great food and service. The birria tacos were the best!!!! I'm recommending this place. I plan on coming back!

Ilse G.

Yelp
The food is not bad but it's not good if that makes sense . The tacos taste home made. The tripas are not good . The Al pastor is not trompo. Stuck to Asada . The rice and beans and not flavored . The horchata and salsa are good

Kevin H.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! So great! I ate at the original (it's moved from Oak Street to a super cute bigger and nicer location at 2722 E McDowell (5 mins from old location). I Yelp'd the first time about how great the rice is (along with everything else). Today, just as great! I had three street tacos and rice/beans. Beans are great. Rice as great as before (light, with a hint of flavor). The Pastor taco meat was fantastic. Carne asada was great. All prices are on the LOW end (I eat out almost every meal at Mexican food places and this was a way better deal than the taco truck yesterday (a great taco truck, BTW at 3rd St and Buckeye). I can't wait to come back here!

Sean L.

Yelp
Solid street taco. Definitely would come back and have it again. Probably one of the better tacos I've had in Phoenix. All the meats tasted good and really enjoyed the tortilla that it came with. Especially liked that they gave you two different salsas bottles for the tacos.

Lisa M T.

Yelp
Me encantó la comida y me recordó a los puestos de tacos en México. No puedo esperar para volver a comer aquí.

Olin S.

Yelp
Had the tripa taco supposedly crunchy and it was smashed up so it sort of tasted like tripa but not what it m use to. The Lengua burrito was average at best very little flavor. I'd say it's a solid 2.5 rating, would never go again but wasn't the worst.

Austin L.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic street tacos at an excellent price point on Taco Tuesdays ($1.25 each)! It is an inconspicuous location, but the door opens up to a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The tacos are served with cucumber, radish, and green / red salsa which were intensely flavorful. Paired with their horchata, this make an excellent meal!

Teresa S.

Yelp
Food is great! Ambiance could use a little work but who cares if the food is that good. What a hidden little jem!

Abby S.

Yelp
These were definitely the best tacos I've had in Phoenix far! I usually order the tacos al pastor and asada with an agua fresca. The tortillas are on the smaller side, so I'd get one extra taco than the amount you were originally thinking of getting. Regardless of their size, they are delicious and packed with flavor! The asada has a slightly smoky flavor and actually tastes like it was grilled. Top the pastor with piña, add the salsa verde and cucumber slices to both, sip down a piña agua fresca for a sweet and refreshing palate cleanser, and you've got an amazing next meal!

Joash O.

Yelp
The best Al pastor tacos in Phoenix. There is absolutely no doubt that if you want an authentic taco experience that is delicious and affordable you need to come here. Don't sleep on this spot. It's easy to miss but if you go once you'll never forget it!!!

Travis B.

Yelp
Easily one of my Top 5 taco spots in Phoenix, especially for pastor. They do it right off the trompo, not just flat-grilled like most places in town. Maybe not Mexico City god-tier-level pastor, but just about the best you'll find north of the border.

Drew K.

Yelp
I dont whats going on here but 30 mins for tacos is ridiculous. My tacos weren't even plated until 25 minutes after i ordered and sat another 5 before they got to me. I'm done with them for a while, gonna go support other local taquerias who know how to treat their customers. Done

Angélica M.

Yelp

Leymi M.

Yelp
Stopped to this place thinking the food would be good but very very disappointed, not sure why it has 4 stars. Anyway just wanted to make a honest review. food was not good at all. We ordered a steak burrito, torta and chicken quesadilla as well as a side of refried beans and rice. Rice was missing and refried beans tasted like they were spoiled. Order was not packed correctly, beans spilled. Burrito was greasy, more than it should be. Seemed like it was the leftover meat of the day, that they served us. The chicken quesadilla had a bad flavor and the texture of the meat was not good. We only had to taste them to realize it was not worth eating. Service was so slow and bad, despite us ordering first many people before us had their takeout food served first. People were not friendly, this a scam if meat tasted spoiled I can imagine the tacos! Simply a scam. Spent 56$ for such a bad experience. Will be nice and say their horchata water was ok. Couldn't take pictures of the food was very disappointing to go bk for a refund, immediately threw the food away. I was so disappointed. Not a good place.
