Pull up and you're greeted with a vibrant array of lettering and colors as part of Taco's La Bamba's decor. Once inside, you wonder, "Is this a Video Hut or a restaurant?"
Taco's La Bamba is both. Although, they are technically not a "Video Hut" chain - they have a nice selection of videos and DVDs you can rent.
But my five stars are based on the food and restaurant aspect of the locale.
Being a recent, new inhabitant of Beaumont, Texas and being of Hispanic descent (Mexican-American to be exact) I have realized that the local, traditional, true Mexican spots I am accustomed to have near me are close to nonexistent in this area... Well at least as far as my eye can see.
I do not consider others in town to be true Mexican food but more so, Tex-Mex. Now don't get me wrong, I like me some Tex-Mex but every once in a while I do enjoy eating authentic Mexican food.
So for me, Taco's La Bamba, is truly a gem in Beaumont. It made me feel like I was at my aunt's house eating a torta. Not only do they have several different types of meat styles like fajitas, carnitas, barbacoa, and/or carne asada that taste delicious but you are surrounded with a family style atmosphere and beautiful, vivacious art murals filled with Mexican history and culture!
