2 Days in Mexico City

"Next door to the chef’s more upscale Pargot, this Bib Gourmand spot in Roma Norte elevates tacos with cheffy touches like caramelized onions. Michelin Inspectors noted the “elegant preparation” of the vegetarian taco with huitlacoche, an earthy corn fungus, “wrapped in crisped cheese.”" - The MICHELIN Guide

Tacos Los Alexis

"Chef Alexis Ayala's taqueria is located next door to his sister spot, Pargot, and the set-up is similar, with a thoughtfully done interior prep area and a handful of tables arranged under a covered sidewalk.Tacos Los Alexis offers a short list of varied preparations that include volcanoes, costras, as well as delightful tacos. The vegetarian taco is an elegant preparation featuring an excellent yellow masa tortilla topped with huitlacoche wrapped in crisped cheese." - Michelin Inspector

The steak special taco is good but I think it is cheating because the sauce tastes like terriyaki. Using this sauce makes it a specialty taco shop not a regular taco anymore. Hard to give it a proper rating standard. It is a lot more expensive than other regular taco shops.

We came here as a part of a taco and mezcal tour, which likely influences this review as we weren’t able to order tacos to our choosing. That being said, the tacos were good but nothing to write home about. With the plethora of options in CDMX I wouldn’t go out of your way for a visit here. They do offer one extremely unique taco - it was an act of tacoception. The taco also emphasized local ingredients, including a Mexican fungus that tasted delicious. If you’re looking to expand your horizon, then this taco joint is for you.

Amazing tacos which were super delicious. I particularly enjoyed the special costra which had such tender and flavorful meat. We ordered one of everything on the menu which included varieties of tacos called volcano, costra, and the special. The restaurant inside looks modern and clean with a kitchen you can look into. The service was friendly and they even cut the taco in half so we could share it. Awesome place overall.

Straight forward menu but so delicious! The vegetarian taco was great too. The beef just melts in your mouth. We enjoyed so much that we came 3 times in 2 days. We wanted to come again but they have shorter hours on Sunday and are closed on Monday! Can’t wait to go again, luckily our stay was around the corner from here

My favorite taco place currently in Mexico City (pending a few other places I still need to try. Tacos los Alexis does an excellent job balancing flavors and executing spices. I got the costra special, vegetarian and taurino taco. They were all delicious but the vegetarian was the best. I’m a huge carnivore and I really liked the vegetarian taco. The costra special was close behind it. I can see why they had a Michelin star in 2024 and a michelin bib gourmand for 2025.

Legit the best taco I’ve ever had! The vegetarian one, both me and my partner got 3 each and guacamoles we were full but I still wanted more. There’s cheese, mushrooms, avocado and crunchy veg so it’s perfectly balanced. The service was great, everyone was so friendly. Definitely returning and I highly recommend it!

Great mezcal with a plate of little things to savor it with (cheese, green tomato, and chapulines). Tacos were very tasty and great for the price. The venue was super loud because of the small size and music (exaggerated). Service was ok, staff could be more friendly and not pushy to switch service clients.

Wow, Wow, Wow. We were staying in CDMX for 4 days and we were trying to get here as the Tacos were recommended by a TV program on the BBC and our local Hotel. So when we got here it was the last few hours of our holiday, and THE BEST TACOS we have ever tested. Juicy, punching full of flavour, with great service. We were so delighted that we had to go for another round, and double the guacamole. Honestly, go to this place before you leave, my only regret is I didn't go sooner. Kicks all other Tacos into the shade. Well done Tacos Alexis, very happy diners. (super clean loos too)
