"Cape Ann isn’t all seafood and marsh views, folks. Thanks to Tacos Lupita, there are great tacos on Cape Ann as well. Get the lengua. Always get the lengua. The menudo soup (this is made with tripe, or cow’s stomach) is also a must. Tacos Lupita is open for indoor dining and takeout, and it is not requiring its customers to wear masks." - Terrence Doyle

I ate here in December 2024 for lunch! I ordered three burria tacos for $10, and they were absolutely delicious!! Super filling and great value for the price! The food came quick and there were many options on the menu! I definitely recommend if you're looking for a delicious lunch or dinner spot.

Google
We are a family with small children and it was perfect for a casual dinner. The service was great and the food was delicious and both my kids ate everything! We had the steak tacos, chicken enchiladas, and the kids shared a full size chicken quesadilla. It later on got busy with locals which shows that it is popular! The only thing is parking is hard to come by so look around the side streets for one. Highly recommend!

Google
#vegetarian food The food is filling and great for the price. The two of us ordered 3 dishes but we could not finish it. We ordered veggie tacos + crazy veggie burrito + veggie chimichanga. The ambience is simple and clean. There is ample parking on the road right in front of the restaurant.

Google
Our party ordered multiple times in one sitting. This isn't indicative of the portion sizes (the portion sizes were huge), it's just that we were all hungry and the prices made us feel like we were stealing. You get a lot of food for what you pay. We got crazy burritos and chimichangas, all super filling. The pupusas and tacos were pretty good as well, but I would have liked more. The tortillas they use taste great. Definitely try one of the Tropique drinks from the fridge too. Guanábana was sweet and slightly thick. 8

Google
This place was good. Sauces are spicy. Beans are not refried. There is 1 bathroom inside. 4 stars for service due to fact that we asked for no sour cream for one meal and pico on the side for another meal and they both came on it.

Google
Vegetarian's review: A modest establishment with quite a steal prices for huge portions of authentic Mexican cuisines. We had Veg chimichanga, Crazy Burrito and one Veg tacos. There's just something about a good taco, you feel the harmony of raw ingredients mixed to proportions. I loved my wife's Chimichanga more than mine burrito. Chimichanga felt more like a pizza(I know weird comparison),but hear me out. The fried taco came with lime rice and beans. Inside the fried taco was a generous amount of cheese with sauteed bell pepper and onions. The taste felt like a home made pizza. But hey, maybe it's just me. The portions however are not to be underestimated. One feeds two. Loved the place!

Ordered a ground beef burrito and a Jarrito’s mandarin soda. Quick, delicious, and filling.

Google
I hesitated to leave this review because I selfishly wanted to keep this secret to myself, but this place is hands down the most authentic Mexican joint I have been to in the New England area, right down to the Jarritos sodas. Great food, great spice and great prices. Just how you want to enjoy authentic Mexican food, especially after a solid surf session on Gloucester’s beaches.

Corrin B.

Yelp
Food is great. Hot when needs to be hot. Large portions. Service is great Ambiance is clean and consistent with the food they serve.

Nick J.

Yelp
So this place is kind of off the beaten path when we got off the train, but it was well worth it. The burrito was really good flavorful the rice was cooked perfect flavorful the service was kinda I would say not so good. The woman taking my order, had an earbud in pretty young Not really listening how to review myself like four times other than that it's well worth it for the food service was kind of shitty, but whatever best burrito in Boston.

Peter Z.

Yelp
This has been our "go to" spot for authentic Mexican food for as long as it's been in Gloucester, with two other locations on the north shore everything else falls short in terms of authenticity, taste and quality for an excellent price point. From tender pork tortas to beef tongue mulitas and many other options this is the place! Friendly efficient service seals the deal.

Oliver F.

Yelp
Undoubtedly the best taqueria of the north shore! Even if there was 20 mexican restaurants in Gloucester alone, tacos Lupita would still reign supreme! Very affordable prices for a rich dining experience that includes juicy FULLY COOKED meat (which has been a reoccurring problem with many other local taquerias), creamy rice and incredibly fresh vegetables (onions always cut through the mix!) all wrapped in a homely, authentic atmosphere. The staff here are friendly and always cater to the customer. Bonus points: they've got canned juices for fruits you've probably never heard of! Whether you're on the island or not, the trek to tacos Lupita is well worth it. Can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We looked up on Yelp what kind of establishments nearby in Gloucester would be one $ places. This place came up. There's limited street parking on the side of the street. We ordered the chicken chimichanga and the Carne asada crazy burrito. The crazy burrito was okay. But the chicken chimichanga was soooo good the chicken was flavorful and spicy and the portions were really big I couldn't even finish it. The chicken chimichanga came with guacamole, lettuce, beans, and yellow rice. The Carne asada crazy burrito came with guacamole and lettuce. The carne asada crazy burrito wasn't particularly good, it was pretty bland.

Timbo B.

Yelp
Best Mexican food I had ever. Nice size portions and price was fair! The staff was very nice and service was quick.

M R.

Yelp
The restaurant was bright and inviting, the order went smoothly and the food was delivered quickly. We had the nachos which unfortunately had cold cheese (a first for us) but the chorizo was nicely flavored and warm so that saved it a little. We also tried the three taco meal with chicken which was nicely spiced but dry, steak which was greasy but not chewy so a good bite, and pork which was wonderfully flavored but a bit dry. The saddest part was that the tacos included diced onions and small diced mealy tomatoes where I expected cilantro instead of the tomatoes. If we lived here we would probably give it another try and overall we left fed and happy.

Ryan M.

Yelp
Been stopping in for my lunch for years! Quick, easy, and absolutely mouthwatering. The staff is always a pleasure too! Thank you so much for those mean burritos!

John L.

Yelp
The sign says "best tacos in town" and when you are a SoCal dude in Gloucester - I just assume that means the "only tacos in town." That said, if this spot was your only choice - you are stoked! I don't think the dude behind the counter had any clue how much was riding on this meal. I just left LA and am doing a business project here and it's snowing and grey and I miss LA. So, from now on I will just go to Lupitas and order birria tacos and close my eyes and pretend I am back on Lincoln blvd hammering tacos out of a truck. The birria is all I had and it's all I need to have to determine that this place is legit. Thx Lupitas. You saved my soul.

Sang L.

Yelp
Great take out , I always order their crazy burrito. There are tables there to eat inside but typically after I finish the burrito I want to take a nap so I prefer to take it home. Their other dishes are also great, but when I find a great item I like I like to stick to it myself.

Ken B.

Yelp
Great Mexican food at great prices. And healthy portions. Staff pays attention to detail, the seating area is always clean, and it's the only place on the North Shore that you can get old fashioned Coke made with Cane sugar.

Nick N.

Yelp
Nice menu board. Walk in customer ! Place is amazing. Great food. I highly recommend this place. Hard working restaurant ! Great authentic Mexican food !

Thayil M.

Yelp
Everything is the best about this place they never get your order wrong they are always nice I very much recommend going here

Christian F.

Yelp
Great fish tacos. The fish was nicely cooked with well chopped lettuce and tomato's onions top, tartar on the side. I've been passing this place for probably 10 years because the appearance did not seem attractive to me. But seeing about 10 people in line at the sandwich shop next door, decided to finally give it a try. As mentioned, the tacos were good. Two fish tacos, a side of rice and a Diet Pepsi, $11.00. Would definitely go back for take out, probably not dining in. It was busy at lunch. Probably makes sense to order ahead.

Aghata C.

Yelp
Great food, wait time is long tho. Customers are friendly and sometimes, the food very dry. The food they serve comes in a good quantity.

Ajith J.

Yelp
Fire joint!!!! They really churn out some amazing food here. The prices are super reasonable. The tacos were phenomenal. The chimichanga was also really elaborate and well done.

Larry O.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 5 stars because every town needs an authentic taco joint and this is it for Gloucester. No frills. No liquor license. Bare bones dining room with a soccer game playing on the corner TV. None of that matters. The tacos, burritos, rice, beans, guacamole and authentic Mexican sodas are all off the hook. Oh, it's cheap too. Stay golden Tacos Lupitos

Laura M.

Yelp
We called in an order to Tacos Lupita and were happy with the fast and easy takeout when in a pinch. Both the fish and shrimp tacos were pretty good, but not the best that Gloucester has to offer. If you're looking for something spectacular or impressive, this isn't the place.

Jay A.

Yelp
Fantastic, authentic Mexican food! We order pick up from here all the time and it's always fresh, fast and delicious. The staff is super friendly and makes great food. Highly recommend.

Kelly B.

Yelp
the freshest mexican food on cape ann! small business but affordable and better than a lot of other places around.

Danae B.

Yelp
My partner and I live across the street & visit frequently. Our favorite items are the birria tacos, the chicken crazy burrito and we always split an order of nachos. We are never disappointed with this meal! We love the atmosphere, the customer service and the food! Highly recommend. Thank you Tacos Lupita!

Noureddine A.

Yelp
I love this Mexican food. The best Mexican in area. Especially the cow tongue burrito with salsa verde and the chimichangas are amazing.

Angela C.

Yelp
Got the carne asada taco and it was pretty good! Also got the cheese pupusas and it tasted quite bland.. Because of covid they are charging $1 extra per order on meat. But overall a nice quick taco spot!

Deb V.

Yelp
I love this place. It's nice to have a great Mexican take out so close to home. The food is excellent, I really love the Crazy burritos; pastuer! Excellent service, quality, and prices!

Derek C.

Yelp
There's no better Mexican food on the east coast, tacos Lupita has it all. Unbeatable prices, an extensive menu with plenty to offer, great service, and the uniqueness and flavor is second to none. I tell all of my friends to try lipita out and they always get hooked and continue to ask me to take them back there. I've been coming here for years now and haven't had a single experience that was less than satisfactory.

Christine G.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for tasty authentic Mexican food. Simple menu with all my favorites, excellent fish tacos, yummy burritos and really good enchiladas. Highly recommend for quick affordable authentic Mexican take out.

Mark Z.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect. I got a chimichanga and it was delicious. The variety of drinks are spectacular as well. Would give a 10 if I could.

Michael D.

Yelp
Decided to give Tacos Lupita a try with my girlfriend and our two kids. BIG MISTAKE! First off we came at 7:00pm on a Saturday and we were the only ones their. (Should have been a red flag). The women working the counter was rude, unhelpful and condescending. We first got chips and salsa and the salsa was watery. The sour cream came out and it was in a liquid form (yuck) when I asked for an additional Salsa I was told I already got one. Everything we ordered was wrong and pretty gross. The waitress was giving us the stink eye the whole time we were their, made us very uncomfortable. Bottom line, if I was on deaths door because I had not eaten and Tacos Lupita offered me free food I would pass. Please, please take my advise and stay away from this place. Food is terrible and the staff is worse.

John O.

Yelp
So I called in an order for the chicken enchilada, needing something to eat for work. The meal was ready fast, and the enchilada meal was delicious. The yellow rice was good and the refried beans were tasty. All around great meal. The soda selection is pretty good, I was able to get an el Salvadoran soda called "Kolashampa" which tasted strongly like bubble gum. They also have a fair selection of Jaurito's (including tamarind, which is what matters to me lol). The guy was soft-spoken and very pleasant. The restaurant is bright, colorful, and seems relaxing.

Tyler O.

Yelp
You could easily drive right past this place, but don't. The food here is fantastic! We stopped in for lunch and everyone loved their meal. We got the shredded pork and cheese pupusa and it was delicious. Really nice texture to the outside and inside was seasoned well. I went with the fish tacos and a pastor taco. Both were bursting with flavor and amazing. Everything we had was amazing, so do yourself a favor and stop here to eat!

Geanna R.

Yelp
We ordered take out while visiting for vacation & were not impressed. Really disappointing actually we thought the food would be amazing with how authentic the place seemed but sadly the beef tacos were bland & our chicken chimichangas were soggy messes and were really missing that crunchy outside. Beans & rice were also very bland

James B.

Yelp
This has to be the absolute best Hispanic food on the East Coast I have traveled up and down looking for a worthy and respectable establishment and this is it. The service is absolutely incredible and if you have not been here you are missing out.

Chris S.

Yelp
This is a small place with a really nice menu. The inclusion of papusas on the menu suggests that the cook came from far in the South of Mexico, or more likely one of the other Central American countries. No matter, the food is top shelf. I had a roast pork taco. It was good sized and served on corn tortillas and came with a nice green salsa that complemented the roast pork. I also had a pork stuffed papusa. I couldn't resist since I haven't had one since I spent many months in Central America. One of the best I have ever had, and very reminecent of the ones I remember buying on the streets of El Salvador. Fresh corn Masa formed into a couple of disks pressed together around a filling, then cooked on a plancha. Yum! Definately worth a stop, though parking is tough here. Limited seating at about 10 attractive tile covered tables. Place your order at the counter, grab a seat and they will bring it out when it is ready.

Valery B.

Yelp
I came by last Saturday after a day at Good Harbor beach. The food was ok I would say. I ordered the fish tacos, tacos al pastor, and a pupusa. I was not impressed at all I've definitely had better tacos in other places near home in Boston and this was sadly a waste of money. I was looking forward to eating my meal and the meat from the tacos al pastor was hard and had no flavor. I don't think I'd go back there again. I'm not someone to put bad reviews, but I was not satisfied.

Nicole D.

Yelp
This place is sooo good! The staff is super friendly and the food is tasty, authentic, and affordable. I wish more places were like this around here! A hidden gem for sure.

M J.

Yelp
We visited Gloucester and had a great dinner here. We hate decor and overkill waiter service and are all about the food and Tacos Lupita is just that. We got the combination and Carne Asada platter and a pork papusa. They were all a hit! The chef looks like a nice Mom you know can cook well. Gloucester count yourself lucky to have this great value!

Erin K.

Yelp
A hidden gem. Great authentic food. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff. Very clean. Eat here, you won't regret it.

John B.

Yelp
I got the Steak and Pork Tacos... The fish tacos were sold in pairs and I didn't feel like fish that day... The Steak and Pork Tacos were great. Flavorful and delish. They gave me hot sauce for the Tacos without asking, wonderful. Everything else looked good and there were lots of people eating there so that's a good sign, Also the place was spotless..

An N.

Yelp
Very safe place during COVID and has amazing tacos. I got carne asada, pork, and shrimp.

Daniel B.

Yelp
This was excellent and authentic Hispanic/Latino food. The price point is excellent for any level of hunger. Even better, our food was prepared quickly (10-15 minutes) despite modifications, a group of 7 and there were plenty of people in the restaurant in addition to to-go orders. Portions are large and the multilingual staff showed initiative in making sure we had any sauces we needed. The facilities are good and there is space for about 30 people in the restaurant. Overall, would definitely recommend to anyone for a great meal.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Sabrosa. Chimichanga and combination plate delicious and huge portions. Salsa could you a bit more kick but overall tasty and great deal

Fernando J.

Yelp
I love tacos lupita....the pupusas are good....wish they gave more cabbage mix and l love horchata....nice to watch the game on TV and eat good chicken n rice with salad....

Beryl W.

Yelp
Wow - so, so good - and we're from Tucson, Arizona so it means something. The food here was fresh, tasty and economical. The beans and rice were also perfect. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were "muy rico" without heavy cheese which was a pleasant surprise. My husband had the roasted pork burrito and it was equally superb. We will be back!

Tina S.

Yelp
Well, Yelp steered us to another awesome place! The tacos are DELICIOUS! Fresh, flavorful, and tasty enough to order more! We couldn't get enough! Now, I'm over-stuffed but it was worth every bite! Why this place isn't 5 stars, I have no idea!

Nick C.

Yelp
Ok so Massachusetts isn't exactly known for its great Mexican food. But this place is an exception. Located in the picturesque town of Gloucester, Tacos Lupita is a hidden gem. The fish is fresh and delicious. The tacos were good, although they could have used a bit more seasoning. The yellow rice and black beans were also amazingly delicious and flavorful. The vibe of the place is a sort of Mexican Grandma's house kind of vibe mixed with tidbits of classic New England vibes. The restaurant looks like it used to be someone's house, which is why the place feels so homey. Overall, Tacos Lupita is a great place to eat in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

Dan G.

Yelp
Headed into G-town on President's Day and stopped by Tacos Lupita per a recommendation by my mailman buddy (mailmen know all the hot spots) I ordered the 3 taco combo beef, carnitas and pork sausage which turned out to be chorizo and also turned out to be the best one. Each taco comes with the standard corn tortillas doubled up of course and topped with cilantro and diced onion the combo plate comes with rice which was fantastic and pinto beans. The place has seating inside and even though it wasn't waiter-ed service the lady came around the counter and delivered us our order tot he window seat which gives you a nice view of Washington street and all the hussle and bustle..... Next time I'm going to channel my inner Andrew Zimmern and try for the beef tongue taco gorditas and pupusas also caught my eye. At 2 bucks a taco you cannot beat it, good to see the taco rage spreading to the North Shore

Roger V.

Yelp
Agree with most of the other reviewers. This place is a great addition to Gloucester. We got takeout from there last night for the first time and it certainly lived up to the reputation. For $24 the two of us were stuffed...food was really good. The guacamole was definitely homemade with big chunks of avocado. I got the chicken tortas (first tortas!). It was really good...again, definitely homemade. The wife got a grilled steak burrito and we split the pork nachos. The nachos were piled high with pork and fresh veggies and the cilantro was just right; in crummy mexican restaurants (see Jalapenos) they load up on the cilantro to cover the other flavors. Inside was super clean, service was fast and the counter staff were pleasant. Good stuff

Sam M.

Yelp
This place is really damn good. Usually mom and pop operations like this come up a little short, but not this place. The chicken enchiladas I ordered were more than what I expected. The quantity, value and overall taste of the food was more than I bargained for. 3 chicken enchilada, guacamole, rice and beans for around $10 is a great deal. Upon entering the place, I was surprised on how clean and well kept the place is. The food was freshly made and the service was prompt. Anyone wanting a great lunch or quick dinner needs to hit this place up.

Brad L.

Yelp
This little taco place in Gloucester is good. For some reason, they're a bit afraid of seasoning (but adding some of their homemade sauce and salt will amp up your meal considerably). We got burritos (one with roasted pork and the other with beef) with chips and guac and were happy and satisfied (again, add some salt!). The guac was quite good. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could.
