A Breezy Daytime Dining Destination Opens in Agoura Hills | Eater LA

"The former Cock n’ Bull pub on Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica (which first opened in 1990 but closed in 2020) is being turned into the Westside’s fourth branch of Tacos Por Favor; the concept serves a large menu of tacos, burritos, tortas, and combination plates and will open a block away from an incoming expansion of Tartine." - Matthew Kang

Food was absolutely delicious! Great atmosphere as well. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because one order was wrong and drinks for one in our party were late. Jonathan was a fantastic server!

We have always loved the local Tacos Por Favor and happy to see them open up a new sit down spot. The staff were super friendly. Vibes were great. Food was delicious, if a little pricey. The drinks were amazing though. It's a tajin candy rim that would make dodger stadium's miche blush. Great time and we will be back!

Daniel, our server, was amazing!! Made me feel right at home and is the sole reason to come visit! Food was divine. Service was top of the line. Ambience was fabulous. 10s across the board!! (Happy hour couldn’t be happier!)

Having lived in Mexico City for many years, I am very picky about the Mexican food I eat. Mexico City's restauranteurship is recognized among the best worldwide and I had lost my enthusiasm for Mexican food restaurants in L.A. because I wasn't finding the flavor any more. Today, though, we had a magical re-encounter with that old feeling one gets in Mexico City, of being pampered with exquisite food, a warmth, unpretentious ambiance and a unique tequila experience. Executive chef Christian Sanchez and the restaurant managercame to the table to teach us how to enjoy "Fulanito" tequila shots (it goes down beautifully, don't miss this opportunity) We reached our gastronomic climax with a sensational, low-sugar chocoflan, a chilango classic. Daniel our server rxcelled at making us feel at home. Check out the bar. Music/music volume = Good taste, not too loud Cleannes: Excellent Decor: tastefully Mexican. Clean restrooms Good parking Patio.

The new Tacos Por Favor is great, fresh atmosphere, the food we all know and love here on the westside and good service. The only thing they need to update is the prices. It's way too expensive for a casual Mexican restaurant. $18 margaritas and $6.25 tacos will price people out. No one wants to pay that. Make it affordable for families and the neighborhood. Santa Monica/Venice doesn't need another expensive restaurant and certainly not from Tacos Por Favor.

Google
I tried Tacos Por Favor Bar & Grill. The interior is cozy, and the outside seating is incredible. I recommend the Chilaquiles verdes. The portion was large, and delicately plated with fresh ingredients. I will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. If you already like the taqueria, you'll love this elevated dining experience. Staff is amazing. Thank you.

Google
It would have been best if this place was not associated with the Tacos Por Favor on Olympic and 14th. Completely different menu! If you are hoping to eat some of your faves from the other location think again. Also, the price of the food is expensive, even for the westside. Steak quesadilla for $25 with only one side! At the other location you get Carne Asada quesadilla with beans and rice for less than $20. One other thing no chips and salsa before your food comes, that's extra $. The service and the ambience is great! However, I will stick with the other location for the food, service, and more affordable options!

Google
A great place for a big group! We had a large group for a birthday and the entire team was so nice and we were well taken care of. They easily adjusted our reservation amount and accommodated our cake. The food and drinks were great and the decor inside and outside is beautiful. A great addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
Had an amazing time at this place! The drinks were great -- we ordered the LA Passion margaritas and whiskey sours, both served in beautiful glasses. We sat at the bar, and Oscar was fantastic! He answered all our questions and even took the time to share the story behind this place, which made our visit even more special. Prices are reasonable, and the food portions are decent. If you prefer very large portions, this might not be the spot for you, but the quality makes up for it. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles, making us feel comfortable right away. I definitely recommend this place and would love to come back whenever I'm in the SM area!

Yelp
Met my friend here for happy hour. Happy hour every day 3-6pm. Too bad the happy hour menu onsite didn't seem to be the same as the one on their website. A bit slim on the food options for happy hour in my opinion. I was starving, so I ordered the guacamole and watermelon margarita right away. Guac was standard, the chips were stale, and the watermelon margarita had absolutely no flavor. Felt like I was drinking water. Second round I ordered a mango margarita, which had a bit more flavor, and an al pastor taquito and carne asada taquito. Al pastor was ok, with slim slices of pineapple. The carne asada taquito was, to put it mildly, horrendous. Barely any meat in the taquito, and what meat there was were little pellets of charred, burnt meat, unidentifiable, that all fell out on me looking honestly like rat droppings. Even my friend was like wtf is going on with that. I thought for sure it was advertised to come with a queso dip, but I sure didn't receive any. And how come I couldn't find any standard red sauce enchiladas? Fail. Service was great and attentive and for that I give the two stars. Would I go back? No Bonus: small parking lot, good service Bogus: the worst carne asada I've ever had

Yelp
Cute ambiance but way overpriced for what you get. That's why I'm giving it low stars. Plus, my bf said the other Tacos Por Favor locations charge way less. The food was yummy but I can't believe how much they charge...especially when there are three other Mexican spots (plus an AMAZING taco stand in front to Whole Foods) for way cheaper. I know restaurants need to make a profit so they have to charge what they think is best...but I personally will choose to pass on this place next time. What a bummer because I was excited to see a nearby spot open up. Maybe if they can afford to lower their menu prices I'll be inspired to try it again one day.

Yelp
Great for a casual Mexican restaurant - had the chicken mole, which was very good! The homemade blue corn tortillas came highly recommended, but they didn't seem out of the ordinary. Small parking lot in front which we were able to snag a spot in but most likely you usually will have to park in the local streets and neighborhood.
google avatar

Yelp
Way overpriced for what it is. The inside looks like they tried to be upscale but just couldn't get it all the way. The food was good but not great, and definitely not worth their prices. This won't be on my list of choices when I'm in the mood for Mexican food. There is a bar and outside seating. It has a small parking lot and street parking. The service was excellent.

Yelp
Having dined at the Olympic location, we were pleasantly surprised at the gorgeous sunny interior of this formerly dark and dingy Irish pub. Since it has been open for only two weeks, everything is brand new, with a lovely design. This is a full service dining restaurant with a long, beautiful bar, unlike their fast casual counterpart. Its patio is beautiful and reminiscent of a courtyard in Mexico City. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and led to a nice, newly upholstered booth. Complimentary housemade tortilla chips and a fresh spicy red sauce were promptly delivered to our table, as was a carafe of icy cold water. Although they have a very nice and extensive breakfast menu, we were there for the tacos. Boyfriend ordered the birria, carnitas and carne asada tacos, while I had the birria and grilled fish tacos. The birria tacos are outstanding and served with flavorful jus in a tiny pitcher. The carne asada meat was cooked medium rare and appeared to be cut from a very nice steak. The quality of everything was very fresh. The service here was gracious, prompt, polite and friendly. We will definitely be back for dinner sometime to try out their margaritas and more!

Yelp
I stopped by during their soft opening and was impressed. The carnitas and carne asada tacos were fresh, flavorful, and served on moist, handmade tortillas that held up perfectly. However, no chips or salsa with to-go orders was a miss -- especially when house-made chips and a spicy red salsa would have elevated the experience. Service was outstanding from start to finish -- warm, prompt, and genuinely friendly. Staff uniforms (denim aprons with leather trim) added a stylish touch. My to-go order was ready in about 10 minutes. The space is nice: bright, airy, and beautifully designed with indoor-outdoor flow, a long bar, and a charming patio framed by bougainvillea. It's a full-service restaurant and far more upscale than their original locations. Grand opening is set for Thursday, July 10, 2025, and they're still finalizing their Happy Hour and Taco Tuesday menus. I'll definitely be back soon for dinner and to try more from the full menu. Maybe, they will offer me some complimentary chips and salsa on the next to-go order.

Yelp
We've been driving past this place for a while, curious and excited to see what it would become! We were thrilled to find out it's a new location of Tacos Por Favor and most likely it'll have a liquor license (since it took over a former bar), which is a big plus. The interior is beautiful--airy and bright with a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The entrance is framed with pink bougainvillea, giving it an elevated, almost resort-like feel. The atmosphere is much more upscale than their original spots. Service is Great. From the host to the manager and waitstaff, everyone was genuinely friendly. I also loved the staff uniforms (denim aprons with leather trim) that added a stylish, casual touch. Food-wise, it did not disappoint. I am happy they have plenty of seafood options. Our table's favorite was hands-down the birria taco. The margarita was strong and delicious, though a bit on the smaller side. Pricing is more on par with Casablanca--definitely higher than their other locations--but it makes sense given the ambiance and service upgrade. We'll definitely be back, especially to check out their happy hour!

Julie L.

Yelp
We've been eating at the casual Tacos Por Favor sister restaurant for over a decade and have used them over the years to cater birthday parties and family gatherings, so we were excited to see the new restaurant open on Lincoln. We walked in and were greeted by a lovely hostess and sat in the adorable back room. The decor was lovely and totally unexpected. We were doted on by friendly capable waitstaff. The food was good, but not remarkable for the expensive price point. We weren't drinking that night; we just came in for the food, and I think that's where there was a bit of a miss. It's the Tacos Por Favor "Bar and Grill", and I think it may be leaning a bit more on the bar side. The drinks looked delicious from afar, but for our dry evening, the food didn't stand on its own enough to make me want to go back.

Yelp
A local expansion! We came at the end of a rush and the staff welcomed us and treated us with such kindness. The menu is expansive if you're looking for something new. If you have ADHD let someone decide for you. The homemade blue corn tortillas are worth their own trip. Come with holiday cheer and family. Join for the amazing brunch. The salsas alone will keep the conversation rolling along with the house margaritas!

Yelp
First, beautiful restaurant. In business for 1 month. Great service and had arguably the best chilaquiles with the skirt steak ever. My wife had the skirt steak and eggs and loved it. Must try!
google avatar

Paula B.

Yelp
Had never heard of this place and my husband and I bumped into it while driving down the street. First- the building is gorgeous, the decor is inviting, tastefully done, great music selection- we sat in their "outside" area, which is bright, and gives you a little of that hacienda feel. Fernando, our waiter, was very pleasant and professional- My husband ordered chilaquiles with skirt steak and I ordered steak and eggs. Now, I have read the reviews mentioning how expensive everything is. I get it. I ordered a $27 plate. After eating it- this is exactly what I would expect it to taste- the steak was buttery soft and everything just added to the overall plate. So, will I order it again? You bet! You absolutely get what you pay for here, and the result is fresh, delicious food! Oh- don't sleep on the cafe de la olla- so good that we had two each!

Yelp
First time at this establishment. Long time, customer of their fast serve Mexican restaurants on the west side. Upon walking in, you noticed that the place is beautifully done nicely set out in just a pleasant environment. My wife and I sat at the bar had a margarita which was delicious and ordered guacamole off the happy hour menu. The guacamole was definitely attend. Served in a bowl with a bit of pico de gallo. They have taco combo plates where you order three tacos, and get a choice of side being black beans, refried beans or french fries. I ordered the Carne Asada and was blown away when I got served. It was three healthy size tacos stuffed with medium rare pieces of steak. Absolutely delicious. My wife was less adventurous and got her Caesar salad with chicken which she also said was delicious. I would highly recommend this new establishment as they have created a great atmosphere to have a good meal.

Yelp
Have been a long time Tacos Por Favor patron, but have visited less and less as the prices have gone up. Was really looking forward to this location opening up as it is within walking distance. Sadly, we will not be regulars, if we even go back. The place looks great, and the service was friendly, but it is super expensive. They still have a few bumps to iron out, which is understandable, but do not expect affordable prices, or a menu that has any overlap with anything at the other locations. I understand that it is a differentiated experience, but there is some expectation of some connection to the other restaurants, or even some more basic offerings, like a burrito. Not sure how many people will come in for an $87.36 steak (not a typo) at a Mexican restaurant that has a similar name to a place that used to be known for accessible and authentic Mexican food. Hope they can make some adjustments, including a kids menu. If not, I doubt that many families will be coming in if the only reasonable kids option are $15.60 chicken taquitos and chips and salsa are $7.28.

Yelp
Went there for lunch today for the first time and the food was excellent and the service was even better!! The menudo was outstanding and the Chile verde was great. Can't say enough about this place except I will be back for sure!!!!

Yelp
Totally different menu than the other tacos por favor locations. Great bar area and patio. Really good food, great addition to the west side.

Christina K.

Yelp
Great well-balanced drinks, delicious food, and ambiance in the Venice area neighborhood!

Yelp
I have been excited for this location to open. Now it is! I got one of the 10 parking spaces in their lot. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. The bar is beautiful and inside seating looks comfy. We sat "outside" on the patio which was lovely. Some of the breeze gets in through open windows. We had our small dog with us. The waiter brought us breakfast menus along with all day food and cocktail menus. We ordered from the breakfast menu. I got the chorizo bowl and my wife ordered the breakfast tacos. We also got chips and salsa but they are not gratis. Food was delicious and filling. Margaritas were tasty and had a chamoy & tajin rim. All in all it was a great experience and we are excited to return.

Nicole B.

Yelp
The tacos were decent -- fresh ingredients and good flavor, but nothing that really stood out compared to other spots nearby. What really threw me off was the price. For what you get, it's noticeably higher than other local taco places that serve just as good (if not better) food for much less. The vibe was fine and service was friendly, but overall it felt overpriced for a quick taco stop. Worth trying once, but not sure I'd go out of my way to return.

Yelp
The Restaurant it's super cool and colorful, the food and the ambiance is amazing, they have a great drink menu also , the place by self feels like a Mexican hacienda contemporary, the patio it's beautiful I'm definitely comeback at least once at week they have the best breakfast burrito we ever had the breakfast menu it's impressive I can wait to try the dinner menu. I'M OBSESSED WITH THIS NEW RESTAURANT IN MY TOWN

Kelsey S.

Yelp
Went here first thing in the a.m for breakfast. It was unbelievably good-- breakfast tacos w/ sausage, bacon, avocado, egg, potatoes. Tacos Por Favor is always 10/10 food, but the atmosphere & service at this location is the best yet. Super cute & classy inside. Can't wait to go back.

DD M.

Yelp
Great balance between real Mexican food and Californian Mexican American classics. Relaxing, bright environment, friendly staff, and good food. If i lived near by, this would be my regular spot. Bar is spacious and well placed.

Yelp
Went for soft opening and service 10/10, everyone is so greeting and smiles everywhere. The bar is incredible and the place looks amazing. Excited for the official opening!!

Yelp
I don't really have a idea about this place but all I know and need to know is that the breakfast burrito is amazing it is so good I can eat all day and I didn't even get to finish it I was already full.

Yelp
We loved our experience at Tacos Por Favor Bar and Grill. The staff is super friendly!!! The food is amazing too. It is definitely a nicer Mexican restaurant but totally worth it. Great atmosphere. We will be going back again and again.

Yelp
Boy was I excited for a Mexican restaurant that I could walk to! I have loved tacos por favor for years and we frequented their 2 locations on Olympic often. The restaurant was under construction (former Cock and Bull location) for a long time. They obviously spent a lot of time and money on redoing the place so I was excited to see what they made of it. Pros: friendly and eager staff. Cons: just about everything else. Decor looks cheap and strange layout with the light and bright patio juxtaposed with coffee shop style dark booths inside. Bar looks fine, although lots of fake plants and cheesy word art (mas tequila por favor') Food was meh. Really just ok. Nothing stood out. Fine overall but the pricing was way high and 7.50 (for what used to be free) chips and salsa? This ain't high end mexican. For this range of Mexican I would rather go to Gilbert's/Laras/Lulus/Don Antonio's/The Talpa/La Cabana/ or a million other sit down Mexican food restaurants in that category. All with better pricing and portion sizes. And NO ONE CHARGES FOR CHIPS AND SALSA!! I was hoping this would be a great neighborhood staple. Oh well.

Goonjan S.

Yelp
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Staff was good. Enjoyed the food. Prices are a touch on the high side.

David J.

Yelp
Went to the new restaurant and the decor, tacos and guacamole were fantastic. A week later tried calling in a 'to go' order for lunch they informed me they don't have burritos ?? A Mexican restaurant that doesn't have burritos on the menu ?
google avatar

Vivianne R.

Yelp
Carne asada not cooked enough was hard to chew. Ordered to go and they forgot fries. Prices too high. Not for me, but beautiful decor and nice people

Liz D.

Yelp
Super friendly staff , house manager a gem ,made us feel very welcome , tacos were delicious as were the margaritas , we will definitely come again Recommend this location to your friends. A little more upscale than the one on Olympic , but no complaints about that place either.

Jim E.

Yelp
Had the chicken & waffles and the breakfast burrito. Both were awesome. Service was very attentive too.

Guadalupe O.

Yelp
Food was very tasty with reasonable prices during happy hour. Our waiter Daniel was very friendly and gave great recommendations on the ribeye steak. Helped pick drinks,as it was our first time here, and even gave a little backstory of how the Chica Fresa drink is made. 10/10 ambiance as well, very welcoming and great signs for photos! Would definitely recommend to come in for drinks on a hot day, Daniel the server made this experience one to remember and i will be returning once again!

Matt O.

Yelp
The grand opening is exciting for us loyal TPF supporters and the food and service is top notch. However, the prices are far too high for this neighborhood and the menu.If they want to succeed, the customers need a reprieve from the high prices of their competitors, not an assimilation.

Familyfunniest T.

Yelp
Hi, Today was the soft opening at lincoln blvd of this new location the new version of "Tacosporfavor" ,now as bar and grill ...my family and I went to try some of the breakfast, place clean, nice ambiance, good service , the food amazingly tasty .. we tried the French toast orange so delicious!!!, matcha pancakes with the Mexican taste, chilaquiles verdes with steak very flavorful my son got the breakfast burrito with bacon and we ask to add avocado comes with mayo aioli on the side just a blow out a combination of flavors in your mouth...for drinks I order a horchata latte so delicious that cinnamony taste is incredible ...!!! My experience was totally 10/10 thanks to chef Christian Sanchez and thumbs up to Jonathan our server.

David T.

Yelp
So happy Tacos Por Favor Bar & Grill opened in the neighborhood! The food is fresh and flavorful, the service was great, and the space has a fun, welcoming vibe. I've seen some comments about pricing, but honestly, for Santa Monica, it's right in line -- and totally worth it for the quality. This spot's a win. I'll be back often!

Caitlin M.

Yelp
Food was very underwhelming - I ordered shrimp and potato hard shell tacos (the hard taco shells were made with flour tortillas -- super odd). Extremely over priced for small-medium portions with minimal flavor. A basic iced tea was $7!!! I mean that's a bit extreme. Staff was friendly and the vibe is okay but if you're looking for an authentic and mouthwatering Mexican meal on the west side there are plenty of other places where you'll get more than a bang for your buck (Gilbert's, El Cholo).

Sylvia S.

Yelp
The food was "ok" nothing to rave about, the original margarita was strong for you alcohol drinkers. I didn't like how the person clearing a table for us used the same towel to wipe down the chairs then the actual table, that kind of grossed me out. It's very expensive there. But the ambience and the entire restaurant is beautiful. The workers are extremely nice.

Antonia B.

Yelp
Best Mexican Food - quality, service, taste! Numero Uno. The interior design is welcoming and stunning! Feels so SoCal - I'm a born and bred SM local - highly recommend and lets keep small biz going here!!!

Ron V.

Yelp
Sadly I agree, prices way too high. Nice people and pretty place. Food was just ordinary and chips and salsa not good, too greasy and cold chips and the teeny bowl of salsa was not satisfying. Stick to what you know and don't try too hard. Also the beans were not good and they give you such a small amount for the prices charged. Beans don't cost anything..

Bryan G.

Yelp
$17 for a side of guac is outrageous. The food is very mid, and the portions are small for overpriced Santa Monica food. I never write reviews because they're not worth it but this truly was disappointing.

Zakarra W.

Yelp
Went to brunch. Loved the whole menu was so hard to choose. Try this place. Drinks are amazing too.
