Where to Eat Tijuana’s Best Tacos | Eater San Diego

"While many might know this taco mecca from a Gael Garcia Bernal adlib in a Mexican romcom, neighbors and long-time visitors to Los Salceados know some of the best tacos in Tijuana are made on site. The house quesataco packs your choice of proteins into a grilled cheese shell, which takes the place of the traditional tortilla." - Mario A. Cortez

Google
Tacos Salseados makes great elevated tacos. Both the shrimp and fish tacos were really great. The tacos felt eloquently made especially the salmon tacos. Unfortunately they are to rich and creamy for most peoples stomachs leaving mine and several others upset. I would go back any day though, overall great food and customer service.

Google
One of the best taquierias in n Tijuana. A hidden gem due to its location but those who know, know. Great selection of tacos, stuffed baked potatoes molcajetes and more! Today i ordered the arrachera stuffed potato. The meat and sauce were great. Ordered the taco new York and a taco salceado. Both were great. Some things that make this is place stand out. The sauces are delicious , full of flavor and can satisfy the spicy lover or the less than spicy person. Avocados were sliced and fresh. Tortillas were delicious and tasted homemade. Lastly the meat was delicious. Give it a try

Google
Great quality, great service. I was taking my time to eat and they asked me if I wanted a new hot tortilla before I bite my last taco. Supper attentive

zaydah gonzalez

Google
The presentation of the food looks great but for my personal opinion no flavor at all. I ordered a carne asada taco with cheese. The meet was actually cooked and not asada 🥺.

Tyler Young

Google
Unique tacos and the salmon is incredible! I'm not a huge fan of the mayo-based sauce, but they offer plenty of other delicious sauces sufficient to warrant 5 stars!

Uziel Vazquez

Google
I mean this place is a 5 star all around !! Stop looking for other places this is it .. food is so good ! The Molcajete is the best specially if you want to share . Quesi tacos are so good ..

Jose Cardenas

Google
Food was bland. Sauces were very average. Service was kind and courteous however.

Google
Delicious tacos!! Definitely a contender for some of the best in the city! Their “quesataco” (some sort of mix of a quesadilla and a taco) is super good!!! I got the one with arrechera con camarón. Lots of flavor.

Yelp
Delicious tacos ! Perfect for lunch , very reasonable prices, great customer service, tacos were good and they are known for their types of salsas. They have shrimp, New York steak, arrachera & adobada. Parking on the back just don't forget to bring change for the guy guiding you to park.

Yelp
So only reason this place is getting 3 stars is because the parking sucks, the grill died out for a bit and they mixed up my order. They also forgot part of my order and took a while to come around to correct it. They also ran out of arrachera meat and decided to make mine with NY without asking me and did not want to refund me even though they made it without asking me if I even wanted it. However, the food was full of flavor especially with their creamy sauce. The molcajete was amazing especially for someone who might be on keto this is perfect. The papa especial is like a compressed mashed potato that is griddled on the outside to give it a delicious crisp. I had mine with arrachera meat and shrimp. The combination of the flavors was delicious. I also got the panca nopal with grilled jalapeños on top and it was amazing. This is not your typical TJ taco spot so if you want to try something different and tasty then give it a shot. Once again this is not your typical TJ taco spot so do not go here expecting TJ style tacos of different meats.

Yelp
Tacos Salceados on Ermita Norte in TJ is an all time favorite of mine and has been for the past 30 years. Great Food, Fast Service, and a Wonderful, Loud, Tijuana Crowd. This is one of the great original TJ taco shops with the greatest variety of tacos in all TJ. They have tacos that will excite and satisfy every palate - even vegan and vegetarian. It's a must visit shop for taco aficionados who want a Real TJ taco and real TJ ambiance. That's all for now

Yelp
Unos tacos completamente different a los demás. Mejores tacos de TJ. I venden agua de cebada. Quisera tener photos de los tacos pero están demás de delicioso para esperar

Yelp
Ok been coming to this place for several years now however just didn't think to Yelp places out of us. ‍ but this place makes some unique tacos. The flavors of the salsas they make are impressive! I'm all about flavors so this place surely meets our expectations. Due to covid they don't do complimentary cucumbers but they due serve you some chiles gueros that are also tasty, not to many tables which is good not to crowded.

Yelp
Great tacos I would say some the best in the city of Tijuana i don't go there as often as I used to.

Yelp
You might ask what is a good taco worth? In money (though the tacos themselves are cheap in pesos) these tacos have cost us over $200 for two Global Entry/Sentri passes to cross the border more quickly. In time, these tacos cost us a 2 hour drive from Riverside, CA to Mexico and a 6 hour drive back through the border crossing. What is the value? We always order the same items, two quesotaco's estilo Nuevo York each with a coco nuez drink. And every time we finish it we look at each other and say it was all worth it. Don't be scared by what you hear in the news about Mexico being dangerous! The only danger is living your life without trying these tacos!!! (Drool)

Yelp
While back in Tijuana I decided to finally check this place out, couldn't really remember where and how I found out about this place but nevertheless , we made it out here. I ordered up the queso taco with New York steak and shrimp on a flour tortilla and another one just like it but with a corn tortilla, this after looking at all the Yelp reviews and taking note from my fellow Yelpers that is what one should get. First thing I noticed when I was served , quickly served by the way, first thing I noticed was it had what looked like mayonnaise on top and sure did taste like mayonnaise, ummm strike one, no , no, no mayonnaise on a taco! So I then quickly bit into my taco and noticed it had mushrooms in it, strike two, no mushrooms please . The meat and shrimp were good , the cheese was really good, cooked to perfection, very good queso, burnt beautifully and full of flavor and color . I must say overall this was just not my kind of taco, it was different and good in it's own special way but definitely not my type of taco. I won't lie and say I'll be back because I'm sure I won't be back but it's worth a try, you , yes you might very well like it although I kinda didn't .

Yelp
As a street food professional eater I can tell you there are no other amazing and original tacos in Tijuana like these ones ! I've been coming here for over 10 years and will not get enough - their quality has always been on point . My personal favorites : - quesataco dulce de asada con tortilla de maíz (pretty much the best taco on earth, a quesataco is a fried cheese tortilla-like melt that wraps the beef along with pineapple and three different sweet sauces with some walnuts , I like to order mine with a handmade tortilla )- see image attached to this review for mouth watering taco - taco de arrachera con camarón (shrimp and skirt steak ) But everything off of their menu is quality and amazing all in one tortilla!!!!

Yelp
I have been a happy costumer since they opened. Recently went there after years of not going. They have added items to their menu. They still have my favorite item on the menu, called la papa cuadrada. Which is basically their regular baked potato with mushrooms, onion, cheese all mixed into a square shaped cheesy masterpiece, topped with avocado and their signature dressing. You can add meat to it, last time I ordered with al pastor meat and it was to cry for. 100% recommended. And of course, this place is know for their variety of salsas. Thats why they are called salseados. My favorites are the peanuts salsa, and the the spiciest orange habanero salsa. Last time I tried their habanero tomato salsa, it was great also. The only drawback is that it gets so packed some days that you have to wait to get seated, and when you are seated you have to wait a lot for the food.

Yelp
For a while now I've been wanting to get my Global entry pass since I travel so much, finally the day came when my sentri pass had arrived in the mail. My friend and his wife wanted me to come down to Tijuana for the day to check out some sites and try some local taco spots. We came to Tacos Salceados Ermita to check it out, the place seemed clean, the staff was welcoming, menu looked good so we decided to give it a shot. Any good taco place in my opinion will have that hole in the wall vibe followed by a short small menu of things that they just do well, which this restaurant had both. Once we sat down I was bummed to find out that they didn't really have a big selection of drinks, I'm not really a soda drinker so I ended up sticking to plain ole bottled water. After the order was placed they brought us the complienmatry plates of veggies that included cucumbers, limes, radishes and a nice plate of smoked peppers. The peppers were definitely our favorites, they brought us a second round because we finished them so fast. They serve a good variety of proteins here including both skirt steak asada, new york cuts and tasty hanger steak which is called arrachera. The arrachera was by far my favorite of the proteins here along with their marinated adobada. To top off the various proteins for their items, in additon to tacos they serve multias, quesadillas, plates and cooked potatoes filled with meats. The quesotaco was the standout here, the texture and taste of fried cheese is nice, they don't do quesotacos back home like this. The salsas were pretty decent here, it's great to give each one of them a try in your taco and have some veggies afterwards to start your palate fresh for the next one. It's easy to find tacos in Tijuana, but it's always great to find one you'd definitely come back to and this place was it for us. All of us enjoyed our meal here, we got lots of food and really dug the hot sauces. They take US currency if you forget to grab pesos, but be warned the exchange rate wasn't too impressive in my opinion.

Yelp
Worth the drive! I heard amazing things about the tacos here and they were all true! This is a simple place, laid back and typical "hole in the wall" kind of spot. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood so it can be tricky to find. Street parking as most simple places in Mexico. It IS clean, despite of some reviews I read here. It's a small restaurant in Tijuana, what do some people expect, five star resort in Carlsbad? You must try the steak and shrimp taco. Its goodness wrapped around crispy cheese awesomeness. It's what they're famous for and they do not disappoint. The sauce is another thing that steals the show and you should take advantage of that too. I also had the patatas quadradas, which is like a Mexican version of hash browns, but with steak in the middle, pan-grilled like a sandwich. So so good. Two people, five tacos, three coca-colas, patatas... all for about $20. I love Mexico. I really do.

Yelp
This is how you finish up a trip to Tijuana. I just have one question, how have quesatacos not made their way across the border yet? OMG! Just when I think I've tried everything, I visit Mexico, birthplace of my father(!), and get blown away. And while the food in of itself is awesome, sitting at the barstools makes the experience so much better. It's like going to a Japanese restaurant and watching the chef whip your food out right in front of you. Dinner, and a show! I'll try to post my video, which, like a tourist, I couldn't resist. Just know this ahead of time, they only take cash(pesos), and the nearest atm is probably 3 blocks away. So anyways, I got the scallop quesatacos, highly recommended by my cousin. They do not disappoint. While away to get money, I had some papas con steak and shrimp waiting for me. Entertaining to watch getting cooked, filling to eat, but the real deal are the quesatacos. If you are anywhere close. Even if you are not close, the taxi's are cheap. Imabigdeal@yelp.com

Yelp
Must have tacos I you are visiting T.J! We drive two hours once a month to eat their tacos. I highly recommend the New York steak with shrimp tacos(flour tortillas) and their nuez drink. The tacos are big so you can get pretty full with two. I have taken quite a few friends and they all love this place. Their customer service is awesome.

Marco R.

Yelp
The best vanguard taco experts eat here these guys are THE BEST OF THE BEST Camaron on tocino Mula de harina echada a perder Papa cuadrada in corn and flour totillas Molcajetes 10 diff salsas
google avatar

Jesus P.

Yelp
They're very good And you need to try them for it it a different twist to classic tacos. Yet different doesn't equal better. They're good. They really are. But there are other options I'd explore. I will return to this place as I have done before
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
I don't think I'll ever have a taco as good as this place! You wouldn't think much from the outside but from the cleanliness of the restaurant, to the amazing staff you can't go wrong here! I love the quesataco here it is to die for! If your ever in Tijuana you can't miss this place! This place is too good to pass up! Not sure why the cheese taco hasn't made it to the states!
google avatar

Vic M.

Yelp
Que tacos tan deliciosos! Awesome Tacos!!!! Order the tacos with NY steak with shrimp!!!!!

Nicholas V.

Yelp
Not the typical street taco but still not "gourmet" I honestly think this concept is overvalued, nothing was extraordinary about these tacos to be honest.
google avatar

Loren C.

Yelp
Gourmet tacos in a mom and pop shop! How can you not be happy. Also one of the few places in tj where you can find chicken and salmon tacos!!
google avatar

Elliott D.

Yelp
This place was legit, the waiter was really nice and patient with our large group. The food was awesome, and not expensive, I will be back.

Yelp
I echo the comments about the Quesataco New York and Camaron (steak and shrimp). It is the single best Taco I have even had! It is cooked to perfection. I may have to make the trip back from Downtown San Diego to this place weekly.
google avatar

Joel C.

Yelp
Nunca fallan! They're great, we've never been dissapointed. Bar or table seating. Menu variety is good, and salsas are delicious.
google avatar

Toby W.

Yelp
Wow, wow, wow! I ate here with my missionary friends at the place 1 week ago, and I regret not smuggling 100 home with me! Look, I'm not a foodie, I like food, but I'm not some food critic who knows everything that goes into what I'm eating. I just know if it's good, or not good. These tacos are absolutely incredible! My mouth sang a song when I put these inside, it was instantly in love with these tacos! Do yourself a favor, eat something here, you won't regret it!
google avatar

Sergio P.

Yelp
The piña taco is one of the best things I've eaten all year. It's like a meat dessert. It's so damn good.
google avatar

Jaime H.

Yelp
Search this biz on the net and you will find writes ups from the Trip Advisor, Street Gourmet LA, Foursquare, SD Reader, Food GPS and someone even posted a video on YouTube......but dont take my word for it.
google avatar

Ricardo G.

Yelp
Fast service, inviting ambiance, a plethora of delicious options. You must try the quesataco de arrachera if you like/love cheese. Toasted cheese is super tasty.
google avatar

Maximo C.

Yelp
One word: "Quesataco" It's delicious and proof that the taco is more than the sum of its parts. Shrimp and beef rolled in pan fried cheese with avocado and dressing in a flour tortilla. Don't judge. 'Nuff said.
google avatar

Ruby N.

Yelp
Jam packed flavor and affordable pricing. This place is awesome. I will definitely be back with friends and family. The quality of the food is great and presentation of the food is incredible. You may have to wait in line but hey that's the cost of eating impeccable food.
google avatar

David V.

Yelp
These are not your common street tacos, these are "gourmet" tacos. Nice, clean place that is sometimes very crowded so be patient. Put cheese on every taco by ordering "Queso Taco of" my favorte is Queso Taco de New York con Camaron (New York Steak with Shrimp wrapped in grilled cheese). Taco de Marlin, Taco de Lengua and my other favorite, Queso Taco de Arrachera.
google avatar

Juan B.

Yelp
Amazing different options on his original menu, good service and a toppings bar for your tacos with salsas, guacamole, vegetables, spicy flavored creams and broiled peppers and onions that take your taco to another level!

Nathaia S.

Yelp
I have been coming here since I can remember, to be honest they are the best tacos I have eaten in my life, they are a must try when visiting Mexico. The way the tacos are made, is just delicious perfection.

Pablo V.

Yelp
This is the best tacos in Tijuana never try something like this I'll recommend the quesataco shrimp and New York
google avatar

Cristian C.

Yelp
They serve the best shrimp tacos of all Mexico in my opinion. They also have desert tacos like the strawberry or mango one. My personal favorite is the shrimp taco which has a mayo mix sauce that is delicious.
google avatar

Ruben V.

Yelp
Bomb Tacos, Bomb Mulas The Best! Every time I'm in TJ this place is a Must!!! A Uber from the airport is $6 and trust me you'll love this place! Cash Only but it's great food!

Irit B.

Yelp
Amazinggggg tacos and good meat !! 1 star less for cleanliness but none of us seem to really care, this place is always packed
google avatar

Xanny S.

Yelp
My husband and I recently went on a "Taco tour" of Baja. Making stops in Tijuana, Rosario and Ensenada. Tacos Salceados was our favorite by far. The Quesa Taco is life changing. And my husband said the lengua taco was the best he ever had. There are so many different yummy salsas, I loved trying a different one with each bite. Its just perfect all around. It is a nice clean location with lots of friendly employees and plenty of street parking. And, its super cheap! We will definitely be back.

Tony S.

Yelp
The best tacos I've had in Tijuana. I recommend the Grilled Cheese taco stuffed with carne asada and shrimp. INCREDIBLE and don't forget their 14 home made salsas. This place is solid decadent tacos. They need to sell beer and get an air conditioner but don't let that stop you. It is 4 miles from the border but worth the taxi drive, it is incredible!!!

Athzel N.

Yelp
I love this place, they should accept cards and please, make sure that the servers don´t put the nasty fingers into the salsas

Jam M.

Yelp
Enjoyed it. The service is a little slow. But worth the wait. My favorite beast the queso taco dulce, that is just me. I like sweet and savory.

Karen B.

Yelp
Best shrimp tacos ever!!!! The waiters are very nice, even if there is a lot of people it is worth the wait... Best shrimp tacos but make sure you order the corn tortillas because they give a nice flavor to the shrimp and mushrooms Yumsss
