Vegan Mexican Street Food Debuts Soon | Eater Vegas

"Vegan Mexican street food takes center stage at the new Tacotarian, which debuts on Aug. 22 and serves vegan fare daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant’s black, white, and aqua blue interior projects vintage Mexican movies onto the walls and seats about 40 with a bar area, side banquettes, and a long communal table; locally handcrafted wood tables and tile from Mexico give the space a vintage Mexican market vibe. Executive chef John Simmons (of Firefly and Tacos & Beer fame) offers a street-taco–focused menu that includes carne asada with seitan and vegan Worcestershire sauce; Barbacoa with mushroom, jackfruit, Barbacoa marinade, onion, and cilantro; dorado with mashed potato, cheddar, lettuce, pico, and crema; Baja with battered avocado, slaw, cilantro lime dressing, and guacamole; and a veggie taco with mashed potatoes, mushroom, onion, roasted poblano pepper, corn, garlic, lettuce, pico, and cilantro-lime dressing. Other offerings include takis elote, Frito pie, asada fries, housemade guacamole, fideos, flautas, burritos, nachos, and quesadillas, plus desserts such as churros, arroz con leche, paleta, and a concha loca filled with vegan champurrado chocolate ice cream from Las Vegas’ Nourish Creamery. The restaurant has a liquor license, serving wines by the glass, classic and seasonal margaritas, and plant-based beer, including a Tacotarian lager developed exclusively by Local Craft Beer in Tehachapi, California. Simmons partners on the project with Dan and Regina Simmons and Carlos and Kristen Corral." - Susan Stapleton

I was very impressed with the whole ambiance of this hipster, chill Vegan spot. It over-exceeded my expectations when it came to the food, service, and overall ambiance. The mango margarita with the Tajin rim was absolutely delicious! Even though it was packed during the brunch hours, the food came out so fresh and tasty. I can’t wait to go back for the trio Vegan tacos and fried oreos.

Since finding out a month ago that I had to make some major dietary changes, I’ve been on the hunt for new places to eat. I hit a goldmine with Tacotarian on Ft Apache. I’ve been coming here at least twice a week since, and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. My go-to order is the Baja Taco and the Dorado. both are packed with flavor and always fresh. Best part? You can get a satisfying meal for under $8. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for tasty, plant-based options that don’t feel like a compromise.

I had an experience last time thought I would try again. Got taco dorado , carne asada taco and a birria taco. All vegan menu tasted great. Nice clean quiet place. Price is reasonable

I had a great experience here! I ordered the Crunchwrap and was pleasantly surprised by how big it was — perfect after my morning fast, and I was more than ready to take it on! The place wasn’t too busy during my visit, which made for a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. I also had a no rim mango margaritas that was delicious. I chose not to get a receipt & I can’t remember how much each individual item cost but for reference: Wrap, margarita, and 18% tip was about $31. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Ordered for the first time with an open mind, having tried other vegan options before. But never in this capacity! My wife and I have been back 2 additional times since the photos were taken, and it has been a pleasurable experience. The 3 taco platter is a great option to sample multiple items. The rice and beans were very nice and had flavor throughout. The chorizo taco and the elote corn are wonderful and have been our favorites each time we've ordered. Pineapple drink is to die for and also is on the top of the list!

Very good flavor profile with so many options. I appreciate their focus on one cuisine, getting the flavors right and making it vegan. There are many taco options with seitan, soy, potato, mushroom, fried avocado, and jackfruit. There is also simple Bean and cheese taco. We tried all of them and loved them. Tacos are artfully crafted and did not even need sauces even though they offered so many. I particularly liked the jackfruit taco, arguably the best I have had among other vegan restaurants. Their chips and salsa is good, perhaps salsa was over seasoned. Their plates are pretty big and hard to finish. The rice was alright and I would skip the next time.

So delicious! I will most definitely return on Tuesday for "Taco Tuesday" so that I can order a whole bunch of different kinds & try them all! Everything we've tried so far has been incredible! The staff was super friendly & helpful, the menu offers many options to suit everyone & all of the food was really fresh & tasty. We will definitely be back time & time again!
