"Tai Pan is a multi-room maze with excellent classic Cantonese-style dim sum and plenty of space for groups. It’s also one of the few places where you can roll up with your entire discussion group or mystery book club and have saucy char siu bao, bouncy XO noodles, and steaming hot siu mai spinning on a lazy susan within 15 minutes. Whether you go steamed, boiled, pan-fried, or all of the above (a decision we always endorse), it’s easy to leave satisfied. " - julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez

Google
Good, satisfying meal. Definitely not cheap but a good option for a nicer family gathering, and all of the food tasted like it had quality ingredients. Nice service, though a tad slow. My favorites were the pan fried pumpkin covered in salted egg yolk (typo on the menu) - that was something that I had never had before but it was fun to try, though pretty salty - and the steamed bean curd roll (but I’m always a sucker for that). I would pass on the soup dumplings - there was basically no soup despite the premium price.

Google
Very fancy looking Chinese restaurant but the dim sum (點心)were very average and did not match the setting. The xiaolongbao (小籠包)looked very deformed and has a very thick doughy wrapping. The other dim sums I tried were not bad, but do not meet expectation.

Google
I really enjoyed the experience, and the food was good. I especially liked the shrimp dumplings. For dinner, I really enjoyed the crab. The meat was firm and flavorful, and the sauce was just right. The steamed egg was smooth and delicious, a perfect accompaniment to the crab. However, I was disappointed with the beef chow fun. The beef was dry and the sauce was bland.

Google
Taste is pretty good. I’d say the dim sum’s style, options, taste is not as traditional as I thought (when comparing to dim sum restaurants in Guangzhou 20 years ago in my childhood :p)

Google
Premium quality ingredients at a premium price with professional service in an upscale setting. Enjoyed all the dishes we ordered quite a bit from the fried green beans, BBQ pork buns, peking duck is a must get, scallops with eggplant stir-fried was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Beef fried noodles were extremely tasty, good noodle texture, good amounts of protein. Wouldn't hesitate to come back if you wanted to have an outing with friends and were craving Chinese food. Didn't make any reservations and was able to be seated without a wait on Tuesday at 6:30pm.

Google
I was able to experience Tai Pan through having their food delivered. It was my first time trying them and OH MY GOD!!! This may sound cliché but this is the best place to have real, clean, superb Chinese food from. There is just no other place like this when it comes to preparation, flavoring, not greasy, fresh ingredients and the dishes are so beautiful and give your palate wonderful experiences. I would definitely recommend this place. 🥢

Google
Came here for a family gathering. I was pleased with the quality and service. We'd gotten one of the best fish I've tasted for a long time. All the dimsum items were delicately made with craftsmanship. The waitor was courteous. We had a very good time.

Google
A Friend took us to Tai Pan for lunch. The place is well decorated inside. The Staff very pleasant. The food is very delicious. There are dim sum dishes that were a first for me. The price point is good for this area. We will be back once back in Palo Alto.

Lindsey T.

Yelp
This review is for their dinner service (not dim sum). We have been here a few times and really enjoy it! The menu has tons of options and the dishes are pretty good. The service is also great, staff are attentive and the food comes out fast. I do think the food is rly pricey (but that's Palo Alto for you). I was a bit disappointed about the portion size for the walnut shrimp, but everything else was fantastic!

Yelp
Not coming back again because of rude interactions and high prices out of proportion to serving size and quality of food. I have been coming here on and off for 10 years. In that time the dim sum prices have gotten ridiculous. $14 for 6 little spears of boiled Chinese broccoli? (Their online menu prices are not up to date and are significantly higher in person. Yelp quotes $5.80 for some items that are actually $10.80 to $12) At the bottom of their bill they calculate suggested tips, but it is calculated after they've added tax. So if you follow their suggestions, you're not just tipping for service, but tipping for the tax on an already overpriced menu. It's greedy and sketchy, but many places do this and they're no different. Just make your own calculations. Despite all of the above, we love dimsum and live nearby so we would still eat there, tip generously and would be respectful guests each time. Recently, I came in more than 20 mins before their 2:30pm closing. I see the owner/hostess who is always behind the bar but is never friendly and ask her if I can order take-out and she says "We're closed!" in a rude way and gave me a sort of harassed look like I was being a nuisance. There were 2 other people in the restaurant waiting for their takeout orders and several parties in the dining area still eating. I asked "Oh, have you started closing at 2pm?" Because I honestly wanted to know if they were changing their hours. She didn't even answer me and went back to what she was doing at the register. I confirmed elsewhere that they do close at 2:30pm. I don't know why it took so long, but I finally realized I'm the idiot who has been coming so many years, paying exorbitant prices for meager portions of "elevated" dimsum to line the pockets of a rude owner. Never going back.

Yelp
we just left the restaurant after waiting 35 mins for no food. we did get our tea immediately, but our two cups of corn soup (something they have premade in big pots in the back ) never came out. after 20 mins we asked our waiter what was the delay, and he said there were many take out orders in front of us...i get they are busy, but two bowls of soup seem doable within in 35 mins. at the end, i looked at the waiter and he didn't give us any "sorry, please just wait a little longer"...instead it was more of a blank stare. so we signaled we were leaving and he seemed resigned to this outcome. so disappointing since i love supporting local businesses and the other time we came, the food and service were good (although the prices have gone up quite a bit).

Yelp
High quality ingredients, quick service and fantastic ambiance. Whenever we want dim sum, the is our go-to place after trying many in the Bay Area. Non dim sum items are also of the best quality we have tried, depth and intensity of flavor. We always have a great time every time we visit.

Carter M.

Yelp
We recently dined at Tai Pan and had a mixed experience. The service was attentive--waiters regularly checked on our table and followed up on our orders. However, despite their efforts, a few of our dishes never arrived, and we had to follow up multiple times. We ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari and Pork Ribs, but after several reminders and waiting over 30 minutes, they still didn't come. Meanwhile, other tables that arrived later received all their food promptly. One of the managers assured us the dishes would be ready in a few minutes, but after another 10 minutes of waiting, we decided to cancel the order. Even then, the staff went back to the kitchen to check again. The food we did receive was good, but the delay and mix-ups took away from the overall experience. Hopefully, the restaurant can improve its order management because the service and atmosphere have potential. The food was mediocre except for the salt & pepper chicken wings.

Cheryl T.

Yelp
Good food, good ambiance and excellent service. Highly recommend this place for big and small get-togethers.

Renee L.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Tai Pan for an event and it was a great dinner. The food was hot when it was served and the food was flavorful. The best item was the lobster which was tender and had a slight mala seasoning taste and garlic flavor. The soup had a rich umami taste yet it was super clear. The mango pudding was refreshing after the warm dishes and had pieces of mango. The service was good and the staff were attentive in clearing plates. The restaurant was clean and put together.

Lloyd C.

Yelp
This is an upscale Chinese restaurant, you can tell right away as you are greeted warmly at the front. Full bar. Nicely decorated with nice painting and a large picture box with sculptures and figurines. The dim sum was pretty good. The usual fare of har gow, siu mai, baked bbq pork buns, peasprout dumpling, fried shrimp ball, gai lan, hot & Sour soup, combination Fried Rice, and Beef Chow Fun. For dessert, we had mochi. It was filled with black sesame paste, and crushed peanuts on the outside. Order ahead as these take at least 25-30min. I didn't get a chance to take pics as this was a work luncheon with a new group.

Ku J.

Yelp
Foods are always good. Services also as usual and atmosphere, interior decorating are good as well.

Eileen C.

Yelp
A solid place for an outdoor seating dim sum experience, but pretty overpriced given the portion sizes. If you just crave dim sum in Palo Alto though, it's a good option! Otherwise, I'd stick to Koi Palace or the takeout dim sum places in Sunset.

Kendall D.

Yelp
I have been here 3 times now and all times I've had fabulous service to the point where the staff remembers our family! This makes each interaction that much more personable and helps add to the experience. The food is always amazing and such good flavors. We enjoy: soup dumplings, pork buns, chow fun, basil chicken, string beans, ma po tofu, honey walnut shrimp and more!! Conveniently located in downtown Palo Alto this is a great location and easy to walk to with lots of street parking options.

Margo M.

Yelp
Delicious dinner in a delightful small alcove to celebrate our friend's 50th wedding anniversary!

Wendy T.

Yelp
One of the best ham sui Guo and ca liong. They also have a great beef ball which I really like and can't stop eating. The seafood. Hong Kong pan fried noodle was just okay. Little bit bland. I do like the fried egg yolk pumpkin. Pastry was flaky but not enough filing.

David H.

Yelp
we enjoy their dim sum as well as most dishes in the regular menu. The portions are decent and quality is very good. We recently ordered a steamed fish (Turbot) that turned out to be excellent albeit quite expensive. But we're glad we ordered it despite hearing the per pound price. We noticed an improvement in their overall service as compared to earlier experiences. The restaurant is nicely decorated with Chinese artifacts and look very comfortable. Tables are adequately spaced with comfortable chairs and seats.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
This is a great dim sum spot to go to when you want a relaxing dim sum experience where it's nice inside, elegant, peaceful, easy to hear everyone at your table. Even has tons of outdoor seating so you can bring your dog. Nobody rushes you, it's such a leisurely good time. Food-wise, while it's not as good as Cheung Hing (the best!), the food is still delicious and fresh and it feels like a dim sum place you can actually eat healthy at, nothing is overdressed or over fried. Love the pea shoot dumplings, pork and chicken sticky rice in the lotus wrap, steamed shrimp dumplings. Totally coming back. 5 stars!!!!

Carmen L.

Yelp
We are not from the area and heard how expensive things are in Palo Alto. Had a rude shock when we were looking for lunch on a Saturday and found this place. The prices were absurd for the quality and quantity! Portion was so tiny and our food was cold when served. Never coming back.

Jason X.

Yelp

Yelp
Good quality dim sum in Palo Alto, service was thoughtful, definitely not your average Chinese restaurant servers that are so prevalent down in so cal. While we wanted to sit outside because of the kids, they recommended us to sit inside since there were not that many people yet so disturbing others wouldn't be an issue. Was pleasantly surprised by the tasteful Chinese decorations. It was a little hard for me to line up the name of the dish I wanted to check off with the pencil & paper at first but after a pointer by the sever quickly got the hang of it. The chicken feet were da bomb!

Min K.

Yelp
Originally we were headed to evvia but felt the need to drop by to try the fish! today we had a black cod fish dish and the best sweet and sour chicken! the chicken was so soft and tender I thought it was fish and chips! perfect combo! i absolutely love their service and the ambiance of giving me the same seat each time! How can i not compliment the place. BEST CHINESE IN PALO ALTO

Lucy L.

Yelp
I had a horrible experience from this restaurant the past weekend! I don't mind to pay the higher price DimSum because we live in Palo Alto. I came out the ER Sunday morning after I had their sticky rice and Shanghai dumplings at their restaurant. The medical report stated that I was being food poisoned, and I remembered that the only things I ate was their DimSum I ordered that day. I plan to file a complaint to the Health Department once I receive my medical report.

Ilana S.

Yelp
Love this place! I'm vegan and their dim sum is perfect. Been coming here with family for years. Service can be slow at times but food is worth it.

Yelp
Ok you know that 3.5 star rule for Asian places?? It is the rule that 3.5 is the perfect rating for a delicious meal at an Asian place. This is 100% true for this place. It is delicious!! I think people get mad at the service but like that's expected for good Asian food. We came for dim sum and everything was so good. It has a very clean taste. I don't know how to explain it other than that. It is very clean and delicious. I give it 4 stars. We had all the common dim sum items and the chow fun with beef. That was so good. I would definitely come again. Make sure you have reservation they are very crowded.

Rachel C.

Yelp
3.5/5 I've been here a couple of times and the dim sum is among the best in the area but not exceptional when compared to places in SF. The fillings in the dumplings are tender and well-done but overall the dumpling skins are too thick. The plates run a little salty on average. Service is good and the ambiance is peaceful.

Rhea L.

Yelp
Food is delicious and quality but the only that I don't like here they serve the food one by one and they bring our fried rice and chowmien last. Saturday dinner is crowded make. Reservation . We paid $276 including $40 tip. Its a bit pricey compare to Chef Chu.

Alex M.

Yelp
The food is absolutely gorgeous. The perfect balance of the taste, the presentation, and the healthiness. This is a very unique restaurant, where the food is cut in perfect pieces, nice and juicy, yet nothing leaks, nothing makes any mess, the oils are just right, and every single bite is clean and yammmmm!!! Try their fish-maw soup, their scallops, their mongolian beef (melts in your mouth), actually too many dishes to mention but they all share one thing -- gorgeousness ! Service is impeccable, table clothes, waiters in chinese-style uniforms, great servers they are, and the ambience just makes your eyes roll. This is a supreme place. Can't wait to go again. (ah, a little pricy, but reasonable)

Cynthia L.

Yelp
Came here as part of a giant family banquet last Saturday evening. First off, bravo to the wait staff for being able to accommodate everyone throughout the entire event. Wine was available as well as champagne and they continued to make sure everyone had drinks. As far as their banquet menu goes, it was really good. I mean, everything was good. We had a lobster fruit salad for starter followed by some sort of seafood soup with bird's nest. Sauteed geoduck clam followed by roasted squab were amazing. My parents and I think this is the best roasted squab in the Bay Area. Then we had sauteed scallops with vegetables, broccoli with dried scallop, steamed fish, sticky fried rice with Chinese sausage...and lamb chops??? All the dishes are pretty par for the course as far as Chinese banquets go, but their lamb chops were amazing. Tender and flavorful. Probably could've had more seasoning to mask the gaminess, but given I've never had lamb chops in a Chinese restaurant, it's pretty good. Then my favorite part was the dessert. Their baked sago pudding was my favorite. Sweet and warm and good portioning of sago custard to red bean. My boyfriend really loved it as well. And as for a staple, we had the peach buns too which were filled with lotus paste. All the food was super delicious. Shame the restaurant's so far from me though. Otherwise I'd definitely be frequenting the place more often. Even that pudding is worth it. But overall, bravo to the restaurant for managing multiple big tables.

Viv H.

Yelp
Food good as always! Gotta be my favorite place in Palo Alto. The decorations are relaxing and the staff is kind and quick! Food NEVER comes cold.

Iris J. C.

Yelp
Not going back ever again. I used to like their dim sum but man the quality of food dropped significantly and the service was insanely slow. Two waiters serving the outdoor area were sloppy. It almost felt like that they just didn't want to work at all. It took us 1.5hrs to finish our lunch as it took forever for the dishes to arrive. 1.5hrs for 5 dim sum and 1 stir fry. Ridiculous. The food, the service, nothing worth going back

Scott J.

Yelp
Always tasty food here I often have cravings for it. As is usually the case you get what you pay for. It's a busy place on weekend mornings. I find the food to be very consistent and the service is just fine. I think maybe some people don't understand Asian customs and culture and misunderstand the service here but it's completely normal and good compared to other dim sum places.

A C.

Yelp
1 star for the owner that seems like she has an attitude problem. 4.5 stars for staff service that was attentive. Clientele is mainly older folks, nice table cloths and a dated think of early 2000's/upscale restaurant. Food was excellent, prices were on the high side but that's what happens if you're in Palo Alto.

Christine P.

Yelp
This is one of the higher quality authentic Chinese restaurants in the area. We've gone back 3 times in the last two months and everything is superb. It is a great interior for large groups and service is spot on. My review from 10 years ago isn't quite accurate and I have appreciated this place over the years. It is excellent for dim sum and vegetarian options. Vegetarian dim sum, vegetarian hot and sour soup, veggie mushu. Buddhist's nest is worth trying and our favorite is pea shoots.

Huskies C.

Yelp
Expensive but really good dimsum and entrees I love this place its my go to Chinese restaurant the service is nice and the dimsum is nice and fresh also I found their general tso chicken to be very crispy too which makes it good everything I had here was good always look forward to going back here idk why it is rated a 3.5 maybe the price?

Cathy C.

Yelp
Just came for dim sum after several years. The best quality dim sum on the peninsula- perhaps the entire bay. I love that they don't try to do a modern spin. Just delicious traditional dim sum made with the best ingredients. It's expensive but worth it!

Ellen D C.

Yelp
We took a friend to Tai Pan for dim sum lunch. The food was very good, as expected. All the traditional ones like shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings etc were up to a high standard. What is worth special mentioning is the stewed chicken feet. If you are not intimidated by the idea, they have the best of any of my recent experiences. Service is very good, as usual. Place is beautiful, definitely upper end. You can take your mother in law there and she will be impressed. A secret, their Peking king duck is excellent and priced extremely competitively. Don't forget to order it.

Cherylynn N.

Yelp
2.5 STARS If I told my coworker about my experience at Tai Pan, you know what she would say? "What do you expect, eeedjiot?!" I can always trust her to keep it real! I know, I know...it's Palo Alto so expensive and mediocre are common but when you're in a time crunch, sometimes convenience wins. Unfortunately, not this time... We were a mile away at Town & Country and had to be back in the city in 2 hours...and was craving dim sum. I called Tai Pan to see how long the wait was for an outdoor table and was quoted 5 minutes. Cool so I drove over. But, eeedjiot me didn't read the yelp reviews so I didn't realize how slow the service is (older reviews state service is very slow so I'm not sure if it's entirely covid). Not going to knock the rating for the slow service but just to give you an idea...I could have driven to my usual dim sum spot in Cupertino, eaten, and be back in Palo Alto in less time than the amount we spent waiting for our food at Tai Pan. Tai Pan is open for takeout, delivery, indoor dining, and outdoor dining. Indoor tables are spaced out but the dining area seemed stuffy. For outdoor dining, there's 12-14 tables in the parklet and sidewalk. The tables are close together. Most are shaded. No heat lamps. All staff wore masks properly. F O O D Maybe it was an off day but the dim sum we had ranged from eeeck to mediocre with dessert being the highlight. I'm so glad we ordered conservatively. * Sautéed Turnip Cake w/ XO Sauce ($12 on menu, charged $14) First dish to come after 25 minutes, and it was sadly, a precursor of what to come. The turnip cake was almost all flour; of the 3 squares I had, only one had a piece of turnip. Not only was it missing a crisp exterior, it wasn't warmed through in the center, and lacked any seafoody umami flavor from the XO sauce. * Siu Mai: Pork & Shrimp Dumplings ($8.50) Pretty standard but two were missing a shrimp on top. * Fung Zhao: Steamed Chicken Feet ($8.50) Wasn't steamed long enough so the chicken feet didn't have that meltingly soft, gelatinous goodness. Quite salty and spicier than the norm. * Steamed Pork Ribs ($8.50) It was ok, though the pork could have been more tender. Also, quite salty. * Har Gow: Steamed Shrimp Dumplings ($8.50) Very thick skin with gloopy bottoms and large air pockets (we just ate the shrimp filling). Similar to what you can get at a Chinese deli/bakery but at double the cost. * Steamed Beef Balls ($8.50) I wish I took a pic of this BUT I immediately noticed a human black hair sticking out of one of the balls so I quickly turned around to wave someone down. The beef balls looked small and dry; not the usual big, plump, and bouncy ones you get at other Cantonese restaurants. * Crab Claw (2 pc-$14) They must of went crabbin' for these bad boys because this took over an hour to receive. These were fine but IMO, not worth the premium pricing; mainly shrimp paste with an itty bitty crab claw shell. * Egg Tarts (Comped) Best part of our meal! As an apology for the hair mishap, a thoughtful female server brought these over. The warm mini egg tarts had a deliciously buttery, shatteringly flaky crust (not greasy) with a jiggly smooth, glossy custard filling. Subtly sweet with a kiss of vanilla, not overly eggy. Their sister restaurant on University (Steam) makes bomb sesame balls so desserts seem to be their forte. S E R V I C E Friendly and very proactive owner; she bussed and turnover tables so customers can be quickly seated. The other female staff are also kind but don't expect any check-ins and you have to wave your arms in the air for things. No water refills. Male staff are brusque. Food service is much slower than other Cantonese restaurants; dumplings arrived staggered, taking 40-55+ minutes. Don't come hangry! A M B I A N C E 80s classy with staff wearing silky cheongsam jackets. Surprise to see a full bar. P A R K I N G Street parking only but there's a public lot next door. Overall, it was a two star experience at Tai Pan. Seems more like a restaurant to bring clients or out-of-town guests. However, I appreciate the female server apologizing for the hair mishap and trying to make things right. If you regularly go to Chinese restaurants, you know this is unheard of so 2.5 stars rounded up.

Henry L.

Yelp
Tai Pan is a good date night spot if you want Chinese but the prices are pretty high even for Palo Alto. You will get very good ambiance here, it will feel like you are at a dinner party inside with all the different rooms. The white table clothes and the decor makes it more "fancy". Onto the food, the food here is decent and delicious, nothing bad to write about the food but also nothing too exciting to write about it here. The owners must be making a lot of $$$ from this restaurant because they are charge $28 for General Tso Chicken, I have never seen such prices lol, it's genius! Also the portions are smaller to make it seem more fancy too Our bill came out to like $100 with tip, we got an appetizer and two mains to share, not too bad but if you went to taste it would have been half the price, that's the price of paying for ambiance lol :)!

Yogi R.

Yelp
Negatives first. The hostesses could use some better customer service skills. They were having an argument and raising their voices to a patron in front of other patrons. They don't answer their phones regularly. Even if your restaurant is that popular and has reservations for days, I would think that you'd still figure out how to answer the phone. I tried called in the late morning to make rezzies for the evening but all I could do was leave a message. Then when I tried to call again later, it said the call couldn't go through multiple times. Luckily, when we go there and tried out new year's luck, we were able to be seated as walk-ins which was the start of a fantastic evening! Most of my reviews are very critical as I try to make sure I do point out the bad and good as much as I can but once we sat down and began the evening, it was nothing short of excellent! The wait staff was very friendly and Nelson who was our great host, interacted with us, cracked jokes, laughed at our jokes (even if they were not funny) and made some rock solid recommendations. I was astounded to see how many dining areas they have from public, to semi-private to private seating. And the house was packed. This place is not cheap so go in with an open mind for quality, and the food certainly fits the bill. We started the evening off with a few cocktails including a lychee martini, Bombay Sapphire martini, and an old-fashioned. The drinks were on-point! Here is a list of all of the dishes that we ordered: 1- Chinese Minced Chicken lettuce cups - Probably the best creation of this I have ever tasted 2- Shanghai Dumplings - Filled with juicy pork, these were cooked perfectly 3-Pea Shoot Dumplings - These were ok, but dipped in soy and hot sauce and they are wonderful 4-Mushroom Dumplings -These were good, and again dipped in soy and hot sauce made them perfect. Only negative was that they stuck to the wax paper underneath so some of them fell apart when I picked them up. 135-Chicken Potstickers - Amazing! Best tasting potsticker I've had. Crispy pan-fried shell with a tasty and spicy minced chicken mixture on the inside. 6-Salt and Pepper Calamari - Simply Wow! And the noodles garnish was awesome too 7-Tai-Pan Crispy Peking Duck with Lotus Bun- My first time trying this but my guests said this was the best version of the dish they have ever had 8- Shrimp Har Gow - Dumplings are dumplings. Stuffed with good sized shrimp and just wonderful with the soy and hot sauce. 9-Vermicelli Singapore Style with shrimp - I think I have found a new favorite dish! Flavor packed with the perfect amount of spice and of course, even better with the crack hot sauce they serve (We must have ordered at least 4 bowls of the sauce) 10- Eggplant with scallop - Fresh scallops in a saucy base filled with flash fried eggplant and veggies. This was great. 11-Walnut Prawns - Large prawns covered in a sweet sauce and served on a bed of fried rice noodles and walnuts. Portion size could be larger for the price for sure. But definitely worth a try 12-Jade Basil Chicken - Where have you been all my life!!!! Tender chicken pieces tossed with veggies and an incredible spicy sauce with basil. WOW!!! 13-Sea Jewels Bisque with pastry - Rich and creamy bisque with ample pieces of seafood topped with a pastry shell. This was just okay and not something I would order again. 14- Fried banana with vanilla ice cream - A fantastic dessert to cap the night! $600 later for a party of 8, we all left with our stomachs full and happy! After having visited another Chinese restaurant recently, I must say that this was a night and day difference! In fact, this is by far the best Chinese cuisine we have had including that from overseas. Just an incredible culinary experience and a perfect way to start 2023! Thank you to the owners and staff at Tai Pan for a wonderful night. Happy New Year!

Yelp
Great tasting food! But...quite small portions, quite expensive, and tonight we had absolutely terrible service. The vegetable fried rice was delivered over 20 minutes after the main protein dishes. Eating my rice with my protein dishes is what brings me great enjoyment at an eatery such as this, and that was not an option. Then I has to ask about the rice three times, and the last time, after being given a bland, "Oh yes, it is coming," I had to say, "Well, could you hurry it up!" I don't like coming from the impatient part of me, but the final three dishes, including the rice, were just far too late to make this a good experience.

Yelp
Was craving some bao buns and wanted some chicken wings. Did a quick search and stumbled upon this restaurant. I would order from here again. Called twice. First time no answer and DoorDash posted they are not accepting orders. I just took it to mean they were busy. Ordered their: 1) spicy wings (not spicy but VERY good, fragrant and flavorful, if I remember correctly you get six pieces) 2) chicken corn soup- didn't enjoy this, it was the same consistency of a rice pudding. I'm used to like and egg drop soup with bits of corn and chicken. This wasn't that. 3) pork bao bun- good, flavorful pork but the bun part is a bit chewy and sweats in the box so eat this quickly 4) egg rolls- very good and tasty

Yelp
Excellent service and atmosphere, but quality of food is not up to the price. I would rate 3.5/5 to the food. We paid $80 for 2 people (after tax and tips)

Yelp
My favorite Chinese restaurant in Palo Alto . Always sumptuous quick served dimsum! Siumau, chicken feet, pee shoot with shrimp with corn soup on the side. Easy breezy walk afterward along University Avenue!

Yelp
The setting and food are okay but the service is terrible. I arrived at around 1:30 pm and the place is not super busy either.. I sit there for more than 15 minutes and no one talk to me. Waiters and waitresses walk back and forth right in front of but as if I am just thin air :). No menu or tea was offered. At the end I had to raise my arm to get attention. I just want something simple to eat for lunch and then go. I cannot help to notice the rudeness of the service people here. This feels terrible. Try to avoid this place!

Yelp
Head and shoulders above the runn of the mill Chinese both in terms of food and ambiance. Our visitors from Beijing were happy.

Yelp
4 Stars for food and 3 stars for prices. Food is good but prices are on the high end of a Chinese Restaurant but we're in Palo Alto so that is to be expected. Dim sum dishes average around $12/dish so 2 somewhat hungry people can end up paying over $70 for a dim sum lunch. I've ordered take-out online at least 10 times over the past 3 years and only once was my order ready on time. Waits have ranged from 15-25 minutes

Yelp
Extremely poor service for the prices they charge. Very chaotic and disorganized. Food took forever and came out cold. Do not recommend.

Yelp
My family and I used to come here for dim sum. The environment was always super peaceful and welcoming. When we first started coming here, the dim sum was super good despite the high price. However, during and after covid, the food quality completely declined. The food was often cold, and quantity continued to decrease as they raise their already high prices. The overall taste also continued to decline. I would not come here anymore. Super disappointing as I only know a few dim sum places in the Bay Area where the food is still amazing for a good price.

Yelp
Came by for lunch the other day and it was a mediocre experience. Parking was plentiful on the street and in city-owned surface lots. Outdoor dining was an option in front of the restaurant as well as in the parklet. Tables were less than 6 feet apart. I also saw a party being seated indoors?!? Service was attentive and cordial by the uniformed staff. Started out with the rice noodle with Chinese donut and it was okay. The rice noodles were on the thinner side and the Chinese donut was decent. It was missing the side by side sauces along with some sesame and/or scallions to top it off... The fried pork mochi puff was also mediocre as the mochi was on the thicker side and the pork was on the saltier side... The salt and pepper calamari was probably the highlight of the meal with thicker cuts of calamari that were lightly fried. ...not sure why there were noodles on the side?!? The fried crab claw was okay. It was merely a fried shrimp ball breaded with a slightly sad and broken crab claw...bummer. The glutinous fried rice with sausage was okay. $37/head after tax and gratuity for lunch.

Yelp
I came here with a friend, and the two of us ordered: Xiao long Bao Jai Buddha Delight Tiger Prawn Ox tail in clay pot Every dish is a 5+. The indoor dining room is spacious and comfortable, the service is amazing too. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants authentic Chinese food.

Yelp
Great quality food but the price is very high. Decor is very fancy and traditional. Unfortunately the price just makes for a very difficult decision to return. I actually think the fried rice deserves some kudos. They do a good job keeping it light while still maintaining all the savoriness. Perhaps they found the right combo of dehydration and oil.
