A College Student’s Guide to Campus Dining at the University of Oregon - Eater Portland

"Tailored Coffee Roasters is a great spot for a quick breakfast sandwich, like a fluffy biscuit with thick-cut bacon and soft-scrambled eggs. The coffee is good but can be pricey for students." - Meaghan FitzPatrick

Google
Pretty good. Literally the one item on their menu that I came for was out, so I opted for the avocado toast, which was actually really good. The drinks we ordered were good too.

Google
got the ube matcha, and it was delicious! barista was super sweet, nice, and quick. the drink came out in a couple minutes :D

Google
This may be my new favorite coffee shop in Eugene. I love the vibe and unique hip-hop theme. They have some really cool art, delicious food and they even roast their own beans. Shout out to Luis to always hooking me up when I roll in as you guys are closing- the only downfall is they aren’t open late enough!

Jason Edwin

Google
Best specialty cafe in Eugene. Probably the best vibe for a cafe in Oregon. Been going here for 10 years I absolutely love this place. Coffee is amazing

Google
Poor online and customer service experience. Ordered a number of items for a gift through Tailored's web shop. Received notification that items had shipped. Then, a day later, a notification that I was being refunded. Without explanation. I did not request a refund. Have reached out to customer service but have not received a response. Baffled. Astounded by the incompetence and disrespect. Avoid.

Google
Tailored, Sleek and easy coffee shop near your local 5th Street Market. Cozy location, plenty of space to sit | chat | study, and easygoing crew to help you choose a drink. They roast, sell merch/food, and have outdoor/indoor seating. I wouldn’t say they specialize in something in particular but I’d still swing by to get coffee. You can purchase the ceramic cup you drink out of though, if you’d like 😃 Until next time ☕️

Google
Got avocado toast and coffee here. The seating area is lovely and the atmosphere is nice. The avocado toast was awesome, but the americano was a bit disappointing, sour and without complexity.

Google
Love this place. Great music, atmosphere, and most importantly great coffee. They have soy and almond/cashew milk (that they make in house) and some pastries but not really a place to eat. I love the aesthetic of this place and it's super comfortable if you need a place to get some work done.

Yelp
Definite hipster vibes. But I liked it! It all felt welcoming and friendly, including the nice person who took care of my order. Unfortunately, I was only stopping for a few minutes before getting on the road, but it was a positive stop and the coffee was decent. I think if I stopped by again, I'd get a fancier drink and stay for a while to enjoy the full experience.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 3 stars solely based on the stores vibes and energy. The service is always impeccable! It feels like a nice quiet around the way spot to enjoy a coffee and soak in the ambiance. Maybe just bring your own coffee though. Because theirs has a very distinct "we burn the beans to see if you'll notice" taste. I wonder if the person who roasts the beans drinks coffee. Cause I'm thinking maybe they're a tea person.

Jeremy E.

Yelp
I haven't had an espresso knock my socks off like this in quite some time. They have REALLY good coffee. Also having Marvin Gaye playing with the sunlight coming in through the windows really set the vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best coffee shops in town. I love their drip coffee. It's a bit difficult to find really top-tier espresso around here but theirs is decent enough to enjoy as is, or in a milk drink. For all intents and purposes, their espresso can be improved upon by dialing in something with a bit more body to express some more flavor, something with a bit more crema indicating a healthy extraction, but as I say, it's decent espresso as is. I enjoy their oat milk here; it's really flavorful and toasty. I'd be interested to see what their almond milk is like. Also, absolutely delicious cookies. It looks and tastes just like my all-time favorite cookie recipe so I'm very very happy with that.

Yelp
Cute little hipster place on 5th. Coffee was tasty, price was pretty average, service was friendly and fast. Seating was... interesting... Lots of swag for fans of the place, and like I said the coffee tasted good enough to pop in if we happen to be in the area and suddenly have a yen for coffee. Nothing to write home about I guess, and the atmosphere was pretty meh. I think I'd enjoy it more in the Summer but that'd make it a grab a coffee to go thing which kind of defeats the whole coffee shop schtick.

Yelp
great place to study/ do work, free wifi. decent amount of seating, nice helpful staff.
google avatar

Lylamae D.

Yelp
Good coffee, nice young men working the counters. Not a big place and only a few tables to sit at. Didn't try any pastries or food.
google avatar

Angela E.

Yelp
Super cute place with a really tasty cappuccino. Bought whole beans to take home. Staff were super friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a cool hipster coffee shop with fun artwork and good music. What's cool about this coffee shop is that they brew and sell their own coffee. The service is great and very helpful.

Yelp
We stopped in Eugene on our way to Vancouver and had a wonderful experience at Tailored. We had two Americano's with steamed oat milk. The barista really took her time and made two perfect cups of coffee. It was really is nice to go to a coffee shop that delivers on their quality and Yelp ratings.

Dale D.

Yelp
The coffee tastes wonderful, the roaster does a very good job. The service has always been great and the baristas friendly. I like the atmosphere with its tagger look and rap albums on the wall. I wish they would heat the ceramic coffee cups though. I'm a fast drinker yet my coffee never seems to stay hot long enough. That keeps this from being a 5 star rating.

Grace Y.

Yelp
BEST MATCHA. great food. best people. amazing coffee. 10/10 get the avocado toast with hash browns or anything else. I would add more pictures but I can't figure out how.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite coffee spots in Eugene mostly because of the selection of beans they have. Not only do they have interesting flavor beans, but they usually have some brewed that they will let you sample. I recently bought a bag of beans that has a very strong watermelon flavor. When I grind my beans at home the entire house smells like watermelon candy I absolutely love it. Candy flavored coffee may not be for everyone, but it is a win for me. They have other beans to choose from that are more normal, but the flavor profiles are always delicious. The vibe is very artsy and it's not a very big place so it's not very loud with chatty people. Street barking can be a little difficult to find sometimes but well worth a few block walk for this coffee. I've never gotten any snack options here only the coffee, but I'm excited to go back and try a few other things, I will update my review when I return for some food. You're always greeted with a smiling face and leave looking forward to come back make this a Eugene stop, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
This is a cute coffee shop in the even cuter 5th Street Public Market area. Loved the industrial design, decorative records, and pops of colorful graffiti art! The barista was friendly and delivered my drink straight to my table. I managed to snag the window seat and spent a few hours working here this morning with my cup of black tea ($3.50). The tea was loose leaf and came in a glass mason jar with a tea infuser basket--my only complaint is that the leaves got pretty much everywhere (including in the drink). Unfortunately, I did not order much else, but I hope to be back to try their coffee soon!

Yelp
Because good coffee is important! This little coffee roasting establishment does not disappoint. We had drip coffee which was very good, a cappuccino with oat milk which was amazing, and a hot coco for the non coffee guy in the car. The coffees were so good that we went for round 2 before walking out with our "to go" coffees! The gentleman who runs the place was very pleasant, cares that the coffee is perfect (coffee lovers can appreciate that), and we even had some pretty sweet latte art! The shop is clean and ambiance is nice with a few products for sale including their house roasted beans! We'll definitely be back on our next road-trip through Eugene!!

Yelp
I stopped in just before they closed while passing through Eugene on the way to the coast. They have plenty of seating, a nice relaxed vibe, and great espresso. The barista--the only person working there when I dropped in--was friendly worked pretty quickly. I ordered an espresso and a cortado. Both came out quickly. The espresso was awesome--fruity with bright acidity and enough sweetness not to be overbearing. The cortado was also quite good; the milk brought out the sweet milk chocolatey notes I'd the espresso without completely hiding the fruit. I'll definitely visit them again next time I'm in Eugene.

Yelp
tailored has some of the best coffee in eugene! i get their coffee beans in addition to espresso in the shop, and it's excellent everytime. their breakfast sandwiches are also absolutely incredible -- i love adding hashbrowns, caramelized kimchi and bacon to mine

Cathy C.

Yelp
Good coffee, nice easy breakfast options. Our go to when we are in Eugene visiting our duckling

Yelp
Went here on a Wednesday before taking off for a commute back to Seattle. It was a cute place but was really understaffed. Lots of people came in to order and you could tell the one worker just wasn't enough- she was trying as hard as possible but realistically needed more people to help. I got an oat milk latte (they charge an extra $1.25 or $1.50 for the alternative milks) with the "spice girl" special, which was listed as cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice. It was way too sweet, I guess I was expecting the spices and not like a syrup of those spices but it must've been a syrup cause wowza! It was sweet.
google avatar

Sunny H.

Yelp
Stopped by on our road trip to caffeinate. Fine coffee but definitely not worth driving out of the way. But I suppose there aren't many options in Eugene for great coffee. Looks clean and well kept so I appreciate that piece.
google avatar

Yelp
Best retail coffee shop near campus and 5th street. Serious coffee folks... never crowded
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
This place is crazy hip and I don't mean that sarcastically. Old school hip hop and R&B albums on the wall, a giant vintage boom box, super cute decor and overall vibe. I got the AL$ latte that comes with almond/cashew milk. It tasted wild. And delicious. My partner just got a cortado. We also got a lil tiny pain au chocolat and it was RAD. I was pleased with the experience. Quite pleased, indeed.

Yelp
Clean, contemporary space that's near campus and the University District hospital (they give a discount to PeaceHealth employees!). Staff were friendly and efficient and my coffee was ready quickly. The brown butter chocolate chip cookie from a local bakery was amazing (wish I'd caught the name of it). Cappuccino was well made, but just personal opinion that I didn't love the taste of the espresso. It was full-bodied, but missing caramel-y notes. The space here would be great for studying, even on a rainy day. Scattered tables and plenty of natural light.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely glorious in every way. I wish I'd gone in here as soon as I moved to Eugene. Their avocado toast and lattes are simple perfection.
google avatar

Melinda G.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place. Heard great things about them. The avocado toast was very good. The bread they use was phenomenal and so fresh. Made me regret giving up bread (kind of). The avocado was fresh and they give you a heaping helping of it. I had an americano and wanted heavy cream but they only had half and half. That was do-able (keto day off). I was not overly impressed with the coffee roast taste but it was not horrible. I would go back, it was cozy and gave me an opportunity to try a new spot and support a local business.

Mike S.

Yelp
Nice little spot to come and do some work for a while. I've mainly had the drip coffee, and it's been good each time. Their cold brew was just okay. I haven't had the pastries yet, but they seem to sell well.

Yelp
Cute little shop right in downtown Eugene, the coffee was fantastic! But we also ordered breakfast sandwiches to go - it took 20 minutes! We had a flight to catch so we didn't plan waiting that long. My brother went to ask if they were still making our sandwiches and the barista said yes, but I was hoping they would have told us what was taking so long before us having to ask. Once we got the breakfast sandwiches they were tiny! I order a vegetarian breakfast sandwich - I'm glad they had a vegetarian option and it was delicious but for almost $8 and 20 minutes I was expecting a little more. I will say everyone who was "dining in" looked pleased with their food and coffee, the atmosphere was so cool and the art was nice. Everyone was wearing masks and most people were sitting outside.
google avatar

philip s.

Yelp
Coffee is good 3 stars everything else is mediocre breakfast sandwich all. The space itself is small and not very inspiring and the food if you're looking for that, it is not.much to write home about. I give the espresso 3-4 stars everything else below
google avatar

Bonnie B.

Yelp
If you are looking for the best coffee in Eugene, you've found it. As far as specialty coffee roasters go, Tailored is as good as it gets in my opinion. The baristas are all super friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and awesome.
google avatar

Daina R.

Yelp
I stopped by on my last day in town as it was recommended to me the day before I left! I was NOT disappointed! I ordered an Iced soy (maybe it was almond- I can't remember which non-dairy option they had!) matcha latte and avocado toast. The matcha latte was so good, refreshing and light. The avocado toast was just enough for a light breakfast to keep you going, though I also delighted in adding my own Sriracha hot sauce on top. Definitely worth the stop by- it's a cool little spot!

Yelp
I stopped in on a chilly morning and enjoyed a cappuccino and did a little work. The coffee was exceptional. Great coffee. Great service. What else can you ask for?

Carlo B.

Yelp
Rude customer service. Very so so coffee and they made my coffee for here and my food to go ?!?!??????? It's really not that hard. I asked for a slight variation on my Cappuccino and you would think I asked congress to pass a bill. Also, they Only carry sugar in the raw. Really. What are they trying to say? Caffeine is ok for you but you will sweeten it how we say you will. Give me a break. Pick a better platform. Not sure what the attraction is but clearly I missed it.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
HOLY MOLY SWEET SMOOTH CUP OF DELICIOUSNESS aka the matcha latte with almond+cashew milk. I want to say I'll come back in the future to try their actual coffee, but I think this matcha latte has ruined me from ever ordering anything else here.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
This cutesie coffee shop is a place where you can bring a good book or your laptop and spend the afternoon sipping away on dark roasted coffee or fragrant herbal tea. They have a very straight forward menu to choose from and I adore the leather koozies that come on your mason jar cups of iced tea. Rather then a fast paced "Next!" type of feel, the employees here make your coffee with patience and attention to detail in order to give you a taste of what high quality coffee is and how it should be brewed properly. They have a small bar facing out the window if you enjoy people watching as well as more tables near outlets to keep your electronics charged up. Subtle things like a picture of Steve Martin will make you smile and the knowledgable staff can help you pick out a nice bag of coffee beans to take home if you wish. Don't hesitate to give this place a try because with winter on its way you'll want a place you can go to relax and warm up and this is a great cafe for exactly that.

Pat J.

Yelp
We were visiting from Bend, Oregon and looking for some good espresso and we found it! Nice little shop, great people, and excellent espresso! We put it in our favorites folder and anytime we are near Eugene, we will be back!
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
Get the PB and Honey toast as it is amazing. The brioche is flawless! I also had the avocado toast and it was great but I prefer sweet over savory in the morning. Their coffee is an acquired taste for me as I like a dark, burnt coffee and this coffee has a very subtle flavor profile. It packs a good caffeine punch and that's important. It's a really nice space to read and get your morning started.
google avatar

Jackie M.

Yelp
I was here on a Monday morning around 8:00 and there was one guy working. Poor guy was super busy taking order, payments, making food and drinks, he could barely keep up! The coffee itself was good, not great, but quicker service is necessary in the coffee business.
google avatar

Oneo V.

Yelp
This is such a great coffee spot. The atmosphere is very instagrammable and the coffee is really good! I love that the menu is not large and the staff is very knowledgeable when you have a question.
google avatar

Yelp
Quite a welcome coffee stop on our way back from Crater Lake. Located in a swanky shopping district in Eugene, Tailored fits right in with it's intimate space. I enjoyed the nods to famous rap and hip hop artists as they played in the background, had album covers on the wall, and posted a natural order of rap names in the bathroom. My Ethiopian espresso hit the spot as well. Flavor notes of Georgia sweet peach tea rang from my warm cup. They only had two single origins to offer, but if they are both this good that is no problem. My wife enjoyed her hot chocolate made with homemade ganache. I might have stolen a sip or two of that as well. Overall, friendly service and a relaxing but hip atmosphere for a bangin cup of coffee.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Very cute coffee shop! Latte was great and the PB toast was delicious, the bread they use is tasty. Be warned though that the toast is super small, maybe I got the smaller end piece of the bread but I was very underwhelmed with the size of toast for the cost of $5.
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for some time and what better way to enjoy a great drink than when you're stressed about finals? I came here to work on school-related things and got a matcha latte with cashew/almond milk. It may have been the best matcha latte I've had. So creamy and smooth and definitely helped in the caffeine department. Only downside is they have few outlets for working. Had to move to another location because the only available plug was taken, and the other was too far for my cord to reach. But I'm not knocking off any stars for that because it's a coffee shop and they make their drinks right!
google avatar

Jan G.

Yelp
Great, delicious, strong coffee! Love the clean industrial design inside. Dope art, and great baristas. Make a stop if you can!
google avatar

Tito T.

Yelp
Cute spot, reasonable prices, friendly service, fresh coffee. Not fitted for my palette but gave it (3) stars because they gave me a dirty spoon.

Yelp
Second time here while driving thru town on my anniversary vacation. I really don't understand the hype..... If all it takes to be highly rated 8s a good Playlist or "hip" decor.... Then come to my house and pay me ridiculous prices for underwhelming coffee. I never once received or witnessed the amazing customer service people talk about. The 2x I've gone, I've never been welcomed in, asked how my day is, recommend drinks, or even responded to when I ask how their day is.... Ya know.... Regular customer service things. Hardly even a smirk smile my 2nd time in. I asked about the ALS drink and got "its just a latter with special milk"........ Okay well clearly you didn't read by my question that I've never ordered it or know their most popular drink, so I must be new. No recommendations. I tried to order a Breve and was told they don't carry half and half.... Only. Organic Whole. So I got an iced latte. Literally (yes literally) one of the worst iced coffee I've ever had. I just can't with this place... Its just like every shop in Portland. Stuck up on over hyped. But maybe I just caught them on bad days....... I'll never go back to find out.

Yelp
This coffee shop was an awesome stop while we were in Eugene Oregon passing through on our way back to San Francisco. They have a great selection from lattes to espressos and food as well. Definetly check this place out if u r in town :)
google avatar

Yelp
I was just passing through town and decided to visit this coffee shop out of all the options around downtown. I can say this is the worst service I've ever had at any similar style coffee shop in the US. The barista/cashier took our orders with no smile, no friendliness, made my oat milk latte with real milk and I had to ask him to remake it because I saw him use cow milk. He didn't ask me what half caff was (1/2 the caffeine: one decaf and one normal espresso shot) when I asked if he could make my drink that way. He just said no they couldn't make it. There was an empty milk bottle just sitting on the floor of the area he worked in and he uses his phone during shift (a dirty device of anyone's) and used those same hands and fingers to handle the mugs we drink out of. The coffee itself was what you would expect looks-wise but I paid for oat milk and he made it with cow milk. Very disappointed. My two friends, one who didn't order anything were shocked by the service too. I hope he has better days ahead!

Megan E.

Yelp
Loved this place the first time I went. Great coffee, cool atmosphere. Just left with a really gross cup of who knows what because the barista just didn't care to make a good coffee. Two other people in the shop so not a busy issue. No greeting, no indication our coffees were ready, just a surly poor attitude despite our cheery hello how are you greeting. Not sure what that's about but definitely just old drip coffee in what was supposed to be two drinks with espresso. Likely won't try again, better places in town like Meraki or Vero where they actually want you to enjoy your drink and return!
google avatar

Sky G.

Yelp
Best Oat Milk Latte! Literally any chance I get, I will stop by to grab one of these. If you haven't already, you have to try this place!
google avatar

Natalie M.

Yelp
A local favorite! Fantastic coffee. Some of the most unique flavors I've seen here locally. Unfortunately they do not package 1lb. bags, and their 10oz bags are $15, so they're a little expensive but they truly are worth every penny. Their bags are unique as well, matte black with a zipping closure! So fantastic. The shop itself is a small location with a minimal - sleek interior design, keeping with the industrial train station that the building is after. A great location - nestled right in the beautiful 5th Street Market area. I take any chance I get to go to Tailored. HIGHLY recommend.
