"Henry Hsu, the son of the owners of Taipei Bistro, and its head manager, has modernized his family’s restaurant to keep them in business, creating an online presence and signing up with delivery services like Ubereats, Doordash, Postmates, and GrubHub. 'We have to do all this to offset the huge rise in food costs and the limited availability of inventory everywhere,' Hsu said. 'Our business is able to stay afloat because of our loyal customers so we’re lucky.' Hsu has implemented new sanitation rules for the restaurant: Customers are not allowed into the restaurant at all, and all pickups and money exchanges are done from 20 feet apart via a bench. The food and money is placed on a bench before the staff steps away for retrieval. The entire staff wears masks and gloves, and all surfaces, cooking utensils, and other restaurant instruments are sanitized multiple times a day. All cash must be sanitized upon receipt." - Kristie Hang

This is a nice little ma & pa restaurant. The side dish plating is really nice when ordering the combos. The fish ball soup is really good, one of the few places that actually has fish balls that taste like fish. The minced meat in the noodle and rice is a little inconsistent, sometimes good, other times salty. The steamed fish and stinky tofu are tasty dishes as well.

Absolutely charming place with authentic home cooked style dishes. Loved everything I had. Except for the stinky tofu, which while my wife loved, I've never been a fan of the dish. Everything else was terrific, service included.

好吃的台灣小吃、便當 Good o’ Taiwanese comfort food. Not as salty. When I eat here, I think of my grandma who used to cook me those kinds of food when I was in elementary school in Taipei. The food here brings me joy and nostalgia.

Good food quality and price. Have been to this place many many times; the owner is always very friendly and welcoming. The bento box in the photos costs less than $10!!!

Some dishes are authentic flavor. Some are not. Make sure stick with the main or popular courses.

COVID safe! They have the pick up table and take credit card at the door. $11+ Love the combo boxes cause they come with variety of veggies and goodies. Soup is like $1.85 or something. I thought they use to add soup too in the past? Taiwanese Oyster omelette is surprisingly great!! Pancake is simple and not soggy. My mom use to get these Taiwanese lunch boxes to go.

An important aspect of a dining experience is the vibe you get from eating in, and the service or atmosphere encompassing said experience. In the case of Taipei Bistro, it hits home immediately the minute I walk through their door. The hostess and owners of the shop are inviting, warm, and familial -- perfect representation of the Taiwanese hospitality. Every guest was taken care of and guided through their authentic style menu. Although it wasn't busy, a notable feature was the sense of strong retention rates with many of their customers regulars and on a first-name basis. The food is authentic, with big portions and is extremely affordable. You can order a classic rice plate, noodle bowl, or dishes a la carte. Customization is fluid and easy. The menu is a little hectic at first glance, but easy to navigate once adjusted. It's good food, especially in the 626, but it's part of the bigger picture in the appeal. If you are looking for a good and affordable Taiwanese meal, no rush. If you're looking for authentic Taiwanese restaurant experience, well then you better on hurry.

All in all, I would give this place a solid 4 stars out of 5. Even though I enjoyed the variety of their taiwanese bento meal box, the main fried protein could be a bit crispier and more flavorful. However, I really enjoyed the small dishes included in the bento box meal set. I liked how I could mix and match various combinations to bring out unique flavor combinations where I felt as though it was a great addition to the overall meal. In terms of the taiwanese popcorn chicken, it didn't have enough ooooompfth for my taste but based on the other reviews, I'm thinking they had an off day. Overall, it did satisfy my taiwanese popcorn chicken craving. If I was around and I was craving it again, I would definitely give it another shot to compare that second experience with my first existence Side note, I also really appreciated how cautious and safe they were in terms of safety and sanitation practices regarding covid and how to interact with customers. I applaud their efforts to be safe during these tough times.

Yelp
My dad wanted to come here because he was born and raised in Taiwan! I ordered the beef noodle soup which had flavorful broth and a generous portion size. You can choose between thick and thin noodles. I was very impressed, I've tried many different beef noodle soups and this one was definitely authentic and tasty. My dad was also happy to find this apple drink that he said he grew up drinking in Taiwan. I had never tried it but it's a sweet carbonated apple drink. Definitely a great place to visit if you want to try authentic Taiwanese cuisine!

Yelp
I can't stand rating them 3 stars either.....wow. So pricey for a Taiwanese appetizer dish....$12....something after taxes. For that I could have gotten a bento box over at Noodle St., Monrovia, CA. Heart wants what it wants, and it wanted to munch on some Taiwanese junk food. So, I made my wrong choice today. Probably would have been better if I went to Tofu King at Rowland Heights, CA. Service was very fast and friendly, but this order didn't satisfy long term cravings.... I won't be back. Gonna go back to the Rowland Heights' restaurant hoping they have stuck to their original quantities and quality. After another failed try in the 'City of Monrovia,' earlier today on 05/15/24, I'm updating to 3 stars here. Pls do send us more pieces because the dish Was on point, but it was too pricey.

Yelp
I tried to order from here a few days ago but they were cleaning up the shop. The gentleman there said they were closing down. I've been going here a long time and am sad to see them go. I with them the best.

Yelp
Menu selection is regular taiwanese comfort food. Nice, cozy restaurant located in the Temple City area. Oyster pancake is definitely better than Yung Ho's. You can actually see pieces of oyster unlike Yung Ho's which more like a vegetable pancake. Guabao had a good size slice of tender pork belly, ground nuts, cilantro, chopped green mustard wrapped in a fluffy bun. Chicken roll is served with a peanut-flavored sauce and a side of pickled cucumber. The wrap was crispy, the stuffing had the expected taste but was too mushy for my liking - tasted like uncooked flour rather than meat. Lunch box selection is varied. Will go back to try some. Guabao and oyster pancake are ok, chicken roll not so much. Parking may be a little tight but street parking is available. Service is ok. Rating 3.6-3.8 because of the chicken roll.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Saturday and the place was pretty quiet. We ordered 3 rice bento boxes to go and it costed a bit over $42. Each bento box comes with a combination of veggies, marinated egg, rice, and a meat option of your choice. One bento box can be split between 2 people, because portions were huge. For the meats, we had the minced pork, popcorn chicken, and Taiwanese sausage. The Taiwanese sausage was the best option in our opinion, and tasted the most authentic. The minced pork was on the sweeter side from the sauce they used. Service was also great. They gave my daughter some rice crackers and candy while we waited. It seems like they have a few loyal customers because they came in and ordered the usual. As we were waiting there, we saw them restock on fresh ingredients. We got our food in about 15-20 minutes. Will be coming back again in the future!

Yelp
I'm usually all for hole in the wall places with good cheap food and zero service, but unfortunately this place is not one of those. The quality was super below average for what you can usually get in SGV for the same price. The peanut sesame noodles were so sad - the noodles tasted old (like it was microwaved) and the sauce was so little and tasteless? Their fried pork chop was more acceptable but it was just ok. It ended up being $45 for 2 ppl. We got two entrees, pickle cabbage and a sad sad fishball soup.... I low key feel bad for this review, but I'm being honest.

Caroline L.

Yelp
With so many similar restaurants in that area Taipei Bistro didn't really stand out. Popcorn chicken was good and fried well. Pork chop rice was mediocre and spicy beef noodle soup was alright. Not sure I would return before trying out other similar restaurants in the area first.

Yan W.

Yelp
We found this via IG and were excited to try it today. The restaurant was quiet during lunch time on Saturday. Anyhow, we ordered the food as follows: 1. "drunk" chicken marinated in rice wine sauce with vegetable rice (H3 on menu) $12.95 2. breaded classic fried pork chop w/ rice (H20) $12.95 3. sesame & peanut sauce mixed noodles (S5) $9.95 4. fried stinky tofu (P1) $9.95 5. Taiwanese oyster omelet (P10) $9.95 6. scallion pancake (P26) $5.50 We were disappointed the fried food were not crispy. Stinky tofu and scallion pancakes were a bit dry and they were not deep-fried enough. The oyster omelet had a lot of veggies and oysters inside but it was a bit soggy of the omelet. The sesame & peanut sauce mixed noodles were lukewarm. The drunk chicken marinated in rice wine sauce was okay even though the chicken tasted frozen. The breaded fried pork chop was the best one among them all but they could be more crispy. I would give them 3.5 stars. It wasn't bad overall but we were not impressed. However, the price was very reasonable (good) and the lady was very friendly. I was expecting a better and authentic Taiwanese food place though. Hope they improve the quality of the food.

Alicia Z.

Yelp
I ordered the lunch special with sausage. The sides (egg, bean sprout, tofu) are fine. But the sausage was super dry and plain. Don't think I would get it again

Aileen H.

Yelp
We were excited to eat here. I ordered the meatball soup and the flavor of the soup was good but the meatball tasted like hot dogs! That was very strange because I have been eating this type of pork meatball all my life and it's not supposed to taste like hot dogs. I also ordered the Braised pork belly rice (Lou-Lo-fan ). Instead of having small bite-sized braised pork belly meat, it was ground pork and the meat and sauce were overly salty. It was so salty it was hard to swallow and several grains of the white rice it came with were dried. The texture of the meat was off and the flavor overly salty and some of the rice inedible. The last dish we ordered was the stir fried rice noodles. It could have used more flavor but it was overall ok. The three dishes I ordered were quintessential Taiwanese dishes. It's hard to mess up in a way but I guess possible since the flavors are so distinct with each dish. My daughter and I were disappointed. We did find the grandmotherly server very sweet and helpful. We also didn't mind the homey feel of the interior. The bowls and utensils they had reminded me of the dishware my parents had 30 years ago! It was nostalgic. My only recommendation is the food needs to be better, especially for a restaurant named Taipei Bistro! I don't have any pictures of the food because the presentation was bad.

Jasmine N.

Yelp
Solid comfort Taiwanese food at a small family-run place. Nice staff serving, might be a little slower if it's busy. You can't beat the $3 popcorn chicken to add onto a meal set! The fried fish was really good- white fish that falls part easily when you cut into it, not super fragrant unless you eat it with the fried garlic. Each meal set comes with the same sides on the plate but your protein is different (see pics). Located inside the plaza with Yukdaejang, Bonchon, and Paris Baguette.

Max L.

Yelp
The food here gives me the home cooked food vibes. We got red meats and pork chop on rice and both were good! They are very generous with their portion and the dishes come with a lot of different side dishes. It seems a lot of customers come here for to go than dine in as there were only a few customers besides us. There's a parking lot, but it can be tricky since there's a lot of businesses in the plaza.

Evangeline C.

Yelp
A bit skimpy on the portions, but great fried chicken rice. Parking is hectic here. Service is fast; a few lunch specials.

James L.

Yelp
Great place for beef noodle soup. Typical, small Asian place. You get a paper to fill out for your order and then you order at the front. It's a typical level for service at a Chinese place, but the food was great and affordable. Will be coming back.

Annie Y.

Yelp
The food here is very flavorful and authentic! Service is super quick and friendly. The restaurant is small but was the perfect place for us to grab a quick snack reminiscent of the street food in Taiwan.

Johnny C.

Yelp
What a disappointing experience! We went to pick up our takeout order and this middle aged man handed us our order. We noticed the order receipt didn't have the extra $1 egg we ordered on the side, but he was insistent it was the right order. We decided to believe him since he was being rude and pushy about it. We came home to sadly confirm this wasn't our order. We gave the restaurant a call and the same man asked us to bring the order back. Are you serious? We live 20mins away, and now have to drive back for your mistake. When we came back, he told us the egg is on the house, are you kidding me??? Our food was cold by the time we got it because of this and it was really only mediocre at best. Screw this guy and this restaurant, we will not be back.

Ashley H.

Yelp
I found this via social media and just saw someone else recommending this as "a good minced pork rice place". And when I looked at the menu and saw stinky tofu on there, I knew I needed to try this place. This is place is inside of a small plaza. While there's a lot for parking, it's a busy parking lot, meaning you'll need some luck to park inside the plaza. The restaurant itself is small, feels like a mom and pop shop, giving out homey vibe. We got the stinky tofu, the minced pork lunch combo and the fried pork chop combo. The minced pork rice was good! I loved the veggie that came with it and they had tomato and egg as a part of the plate. The fried pork chop, I would say, didn't wow me as much, but I think it's still living up to the standard. I think the stinky tofu is not as good as Tofu King. I would go back and I would try different items.

Ray J.

Yelp
This is our go-to place for Taiwanese food and our comfort food place! The food quality is consistent and the price is very reasonable. They actually have a big menu and it is fun to explore and after years of being their regular, there are still a few items on the menu that I haven't got the chance to try! The beef noodle is a must when it is cold, and in summertime, we order lots of bento or cold noodles. The fried pork chop and the red-yeast Porkchop are the most favorite items for us. For special days, try the crispy shrimp, and the rice noodle/pancit. I had also placed party tray orders and group orders for work, the owners are super friendly and easy to work with, they would create the menu to fit the budget, offer item selections. Another brownie point is that they always got the order on time! ( you know how that feels to be the one person who delayed the work lunch...) Love this family-owned restaurant, they never disappointed!

Kevin X.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food here! Very home style comfort food, and a very nice owner. Ordered the Taiwanese Sausage, Fried Sole, Popcorn chicken, and poached veggies (bokchoy).

R A.

Yelp
Pretty decent food with a good amount, too! Happy to have this little place near me for when my Taiwanese cravings hit.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Small but mighty. Tucked in an upscale mini mall at the corner of New and Las Tunas....delicious soups, friendly service... ....my friends were celebrating a birthday...if you need fancy ambience, this is not that...it's low key, modest...a mom and pop feel... but if you love spicy beef noodle soup or nonspicy beef noodle soup...or a vegetarian tofu soup...then you will celebrate with a happy tummy. The owner of the place, when she found out we were celebrating a bday... said that in her Taiwanese culture, a birthday is marked with a hardboiled egg...and she gave my friend a bday egg...my friend ate it right away and said it had a hint of sweetness and was like eating a cake. She loved it... The mall has plenty of parking...just good soup here...and apparently DiscoverLA thought so too. Highly recommend for an informal evening out. Nice menu. More than just soups...and me being vegetarian vegan, I easily found something I could eat my friends were super thrilled by this little gem.

Kathy T.

Yelp
Came here with a Taiwanese friend who was craving Taiwanese food. And we were so hungry we ordered 6 things but I only remembered to take one picture! She says this was very authentic Taiwanese food. We had the meatball, the pork belly bun, oyster noodles, oyster omelet, a Chinese vegetable that tasted like lettuce but wasn't, and beef noodle soup (my one request). We might have had something else too but I can't remember! The owner kept saying we were ordering way too much and he was right! But it was very delicious and a good deal for all that we got!

Lance H.

Yelp
Small little hidden gem! I'm not sure I would have tried this place without the recommendation from my brother and also the positive ratings on Yelp! since there are other Taiwanese restaurants in the area that I normally do frequent. However, I am glad I tried this place out! They have a pretty good sized menu with taiwanese staple dishes such as fried porkchop, minced meat over rice, dumplings, beef stew, tendon with noodle soup or rice, etc. FOOD Beef Tendon with Rice - good sized portion when you order to go and it also comes with a few little side dishes as well in the bento-style box. My only wish is that the portion of the tomato-egg was larger since it's literally more tomato than actual egg Beef Stew Noodle Soup - soup tastes delicious and isn't overly herby like some beef stew soups I've had. The noodle consistency is perfect for me as it wasn't too firm and not too soft as well. Noodle still had some texture to it which I enjoyed Fried Red Grain Pork with Rice - one of my favorites here but you need to eat it ASAP if you order it to go. If you don't eat it pretty quickly, the pork will dry out since it's already cut when you take it to go. STAFF Restaurant seems to be run by a husband/wife duo and they are friendly and very quick at fulfilling orders. They do not do much small talk but that's perfectly fine. PARKING Sucks. Parking is awful here. The city should have never allowed so many restaurants/small shops into this tiny plaza with hardly any parking. On some weekends, people make their own parking spots - that's how bad it is!

Kelly L.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch. They have lunch specials which are a good deal. Had the pork chop lunch plate, comes with some vegetables sides which are good. The pork chop was flavored but the breading wasn't super crispy. The green onion pancake was good, but didn't come with any sauces. The oyster pancake was a bit disappointing, mostly just egg and Napa cabbage, only a few pieces of oysters. Overall the food is homestyle and pretty tasty!

Harris P.

Yelp
Food were good, only complaint was the rice too dry. The guy who answer phone call and take orders was not too friendly. When he talk to customer, sounds like manager talking to employees.

Evelyn T.

Yelp
I like coming here when I want something comforting. Good portions and the entree bento boxes come with a variety of side dishes. The side dishes vary each time. I've had the Taiwanese Deep-Fried Red Pork, Taiwanese Sausage, and Spicy Hot Pepper Fried Chicken Leg entrees. The flavors were good and yummy. Also ordered the Traditional Minced Meat Rice a la carte before since I didn't want a bento box that day. It was still a decent portion. I usually call for takeout and it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. There's a parking lot and street parking.

Stevo O.

Yelp
This is a rather small and meager store, but the food is solid and seems to be popular for take-out. For Taiwanese food, it seems to make the cut for locals, and a rather large portion is served with each meal. If you're going for lunch, the cost is about $10 and diner around $13. Just by the weight of what I purchased, I know this is a nice deal of food and tasted great. With COVID still around, I'm fortunate to have so many choices for great Taiwanese food!

Lisa C.

Yelp
Is there are zero star, I will give them. I had tried so many Taiwanese restaurants. Most of them the food is okay, not terrible, at least tasty like Taiwanese food. BUT this restaurant all the food I eat was terrible. small portions and pricy. 4 little dishes cost $60. I walk out with hungry stomach. I even did not bother to take photo, because it did not look delicious at all. PS, they had front door opened, the small fly is flying inside the restaurant.

Lesley C.

Yelp
We always order dinner bento from them but recently their quality have dropped significantly. I order the spicy hot pepper chicken rice plate and the chicken was not marinated and no flavor and certainly not spicy at all! Their vegetables usually have no flavor at all. It's just disappointing.

Richard C.

Yelp
Taste: 3.5/5 Price: 3/5 Overall I would actually give this place 3.5 stars. I had a craving for stinky tofu so I ordered take out from here. Their stinky tofu is pretty good but the sauce it comes with is a bit bland. The fermented cabbage pairs excellently with the tofu and that dish was pretty solid. However I was a bit disappointed with the popcorn chicken rice. It costs around $13 and the portion of the popcorn chicken is a bit lacking. The side dishes were pretty solid, but they give a lot of rice. I really wished that they replaced some of the rice with more chicken. There weren't many substantial popcorn chicken pieces, most of pieces just felt like fried bits. I just feel like $13 is not worth it for the popcorn chicken rice, and it doesn't come with a drink, which some other restaurants having been doing for around the same price. But in terms of authentic taiwanese food, I think this place is excellent in that regard. If you are craving or just want to try taiwanese food, I would definitely recommend giving this place a shot.

Ingrid L.

Yelp
Came here to get some yummy taiwanese food. The first thing that caught my eye was the Gua Bao. These "chinese hamburgers" are usually my go to snack when I'm hungry when walking around Taipei so I was excited to get it in SoCal! This thing was delicious. 10/10 would absolutely eat it again and again and again. Also got sesame and peanut sauce mixed noodles. Nothing to write home about don't get it unless you specifically like this dish. Not the fanciest/nicest place so don't bring a first or second date maybe. The decor in this place is a great conversation starter though. There's just... a lot to take in.

vidia c.

Yelp
*** 3.5 stars *** Date of visit: 12/3/2022 Considering all the great reviews here, honestly I was expecting a better dining experience and they don't even give us cup of water here! But the lady of the shop is super nice and friendly. Food comes very fast too. Anyways, these are my orders: - crispy pork chop with rice: ORDER IT! very good. Right crispiness, authentic Taiwanese taste of fried pork chop with the right type of flour used. - minced pork rice: the minced pork is pretty good and tasty, but border salty. The brown egg that comes with the rice is SUPER SALTY! It hit me hard when I took a a bite of it. - Taiwanese fried red-grain pork with rice: ORDER IT! Very good. The meat is lean, which is what a prefer, so definitely a plus in my book. - Taiwanese sausage ala carte: it is not what I used to have at other places and not what I like flavor-wise either. I feel it's slightly undercooked also... - Taiwanese fried tempura. SKIP IT! It's like something they just buy from grocery market and fry it. - crispy fried tofu: ORDER IT! it has a nice crisp batter on the outside and silky smooth on the inside. Have it with the garlic soy sauce that comes with it, super yummy! I will probably come back to try their other dishes, but most probably not in the near future...

May L.

Yelp
Another little taiwanese food joint. I came by to pickup lunch after a stressful morning and ordered the red pork with rice and a side of stinky tofu. Can't say the guy who took my order had the best telephone etiquette. Grumpy asian dad vibes. The red pork was actually a slightly fried char siu. It wasn't bad, just not anything worth raving about. It came with a side of beansprouts and cabbage mix and tomato with egg. The tomato with egg was actually my favorite part of the meal. The stinky tofu was good but I've also had better. Lowkey wish I had aired out the tofu en route home because it ended up being a bit soggy. It stank up the car so bad I couldn't help but keep the fumes contained. Prices weren't bad for their lunch special. Ideal for those wanting to grab a quick bite.

Jenny Y.

Yelp
I wish I had known about this place sooner! The bento boxes reminds me of Taiwan. I ordered the fried chicken steak meal, the scallion chicken meal and the beef and tendon meal. My favorite is the fried chicken steak. The chicken is so tender. All the side dishes are delicious too. I also tried the scallion chicken. The scallion sauce and the garlic soy sauce complement the chicken. I'm just getting started. I look forward to exploring more on the menu.

Jessica L.

Yelp
First time here and the atmosphere felt super homey and cozy! The food was really good... My parents and I ordered the chicken in noodle soup, pork belly rice with veggies and Taiwanese sausage which was just enough for the 3 of us and it filled us up comfortably... I know I would order the chicken in noodle soup because 1. It's my fave and 2 the noodles are very chewy which was cooked to perfection. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is craving comfort food! I feel like all the dishes was individual sized portions which was fine because it got us full which is always the most important part when we go somewhere and the workers were very friendly... I would come back here!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
I go crazy whenever I'm at a Taiwanese restaurant. Ordered all the food for just two people lol Tried a variety of their dishes. Some were delicious and some were just alright. But it's a good place for a quick Taiwanese take out. Fried stinky tofu was stinky but not savory enough. Mala stinky tofu, sausages, fried pork chop rice, intestines noodle were decent. Oyster pancake wasn't the best. Red pork was dry Favorites here: meatball (ba wan), fried intestines, chicken roll, duck vermicelli.

Mikii S.

Yelp
Def shout out to the steamed mala stinky tofu. It soooo hit the spot on a cold rainy day. It's so authentic the hubby begged me not to order it in the future. Nope nope nope. No deal!! Taiwanese comfort food. They are generous with the portion and love the 3 sides that comes with the bentos. My personal favorites are pork knuckles, H21 and H22 the spicy and non spicy chicken steaks. Parking may be limited but in my rotation for nostalgic Taiwanese eats.

Sheena F.

Yelp
My pork chop rice dinner was $12.07 with tax. I'm not sure where else you're gonna go to find this pricing now a days and it's cheaper then most lunch specials and oh so yummy. Only thing is there is no bone which I usually like for my pork chops. Not much for ambience eating inside the restaurants as there's no music, but they are great with having take out ready on time.

Dora T.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch on a Sunday. We arrived around 2pm and didn't know they closed for lunch break from 2pm-5pm. The waiter, (or the owner?) was nice enough to let us order last minute before kitchen close. We ordered a lot of food because we were starving! In my opinion, I thought their stinky fried tofu wasn't stinky enough or is just lacking flavor. MJ cafe does it stinkier than them. Their popcorn chicken and fried intestine were pretty good! However, their braised beef noodle soup was not that great. The beef was SO hard I couldn't even bite through so I ended up just eating the noodles. Their fried oyster pancake was a bit too sweet for me and my sister. Lastly, I thought their Taiwanese sausage rice lack presentation. I was expecting it to be in a neat bento box, but instead, it just came in a round plate with everything crumble up on there. Flavor wise was ok with a side of garlic which I had to remind them to bring out couple times. Overall, this place is just average rating to me. Food came out pretty fast though which is a good thing.

Lam M.

Yelp
Huge fan of this place! Tried this place for the first time back in June and we have been back 3 times, which is a lot considering we don't even live in the area. I love their bento boxes, which includes 3-4 side items in addition to the main course. It reminds me of kaiseki style food in Japan. Most taiwanese places offer 2 side dishes max, so this offers a lot more variety in my opinion. The staff is friendly and takes their time explaining items to you and are accommodating with special requests. The food is good. We've had most of their main items and none have disappointed. I especially like their chicken, red pork, and braised pork belly. Their description says no msg used so even better! They are only offering take out as far as I know and block off the inside of the restaurant so you order and pick up right by the door. Check in on Yelp for a free drink.

Sonya Z.

Yelp
The worst beef noodle I have ever had! Beef was so chewy. Taste like wood and rubber band, harder than my dog's beef jerky. I also saw a guy trying to bite the beef and was so embarrassed in front of a girl. The bowls and plate smelt like detergent. I was wondering how dare they put a sign outside said best beef noodle by discover LA. I should warn whoever goes there never ever order anything with beef. So disappointed!

John W.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of trying out Taipei Bistro for the first time today off of a friendly recommendation and was super satisfied. I ordered the H1 Traditional Minced Meat Rice plate with brown rice which was about $13 without tip included. I ordered off of Yelp for pick up. Note that if it's your first time coming to this plaza, Taipei Bistro is in Suite #3 (marked by a number on top of the door) although there currently is no signage. The place was a little busy on a Sunday around 1PM. The people working at the time were super nice and fairly quick with retrieving the order. Let's talk about the dish itself. The minced meat rice was excellent and super plentiful (didn't finish it all in my first go-around). The main star being the beef on top of the rice was flavorful and a little sticky - making for a great combo. The brown rice was also surprisingly solid (I always hesitate ordering brown rice at Asian restaurants because it usually comes out a bit stale for whatever reason, but here, the brown rice was just as flavorful as the regular white rice. Note that it is a $1 extra). The rest of the dish was solid as well from the tomato tofu, the stewed egg, veggies, and pickled radish. It's a lot of food and all has so much packed flavor. They also have a lot of sides you can ask for - I got the hot chili for about .15 cents extra and was super appreciated. Silverware is included. Also note that this is currently take out only - no patio area unfortunately. Super solid - can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Extremely rude. Owner guy was downright abusive towards my elderly mother. Like straight-out-of-the-gate yelling and shockingly rude comments. And he wasn't just rude to us. He was rude to the table in front of us and customers picking up orders. I guess for those pick-up order folk, the interaction is short enough to brush off but I guess we weren't so lucky. If that is how the owner treats customers, I shudder to think how he treats his family members. And I say this because the women who were working the kitchen, actually doing the work and serving the tables (because the guy just sat at the cash register glaring at everyone) always just scuttled out and right back into the kitchen as if to avoid the owner guy at all costs. Plastic ware, especially the water cups looked degraded enough to start leaching into the water. It had that old plastic smell. Yuck. Batheooms, tables - everything here just looked depressingly old. Food items ranged from tasting ok to way too salty (and this is coming from someone who prefers salt over sweet) but what really irked me was that the size to price ratio was paltry - even on low cost items - reeks of cranky tightfisted stinginess. I understand inflation is really affecting businesses. I probably wouldn't mind if they gave a little more on lower cost fillers like veggie sides, rice. But under the laser eyes of the owner they were doling out food as if customers were beggars and not paying for it. Adding the incidence of yelling and total rudeness - NEVER again. Guys, there are lots of Taiwanese food options out there. This ain't it.

Yelp
COVID EDITION It was by accident that an order was placed at this restaurant. However, I decided to keep my order since I wanted to support local businesses during these times. Also, I have previously dined here a few times and I was curious to see how it has changed. As you can tell by my rating, it has changed for the worse. I ordered the Taiwanese sausage with rice. The Taiwanese sausage was disappointing. Not to mention, the amount they give is so little than compare to what they did before. Just take a look at the photo that others have posted and compare it to what I received last night. The big pile of rice was not fluffy. The grains were tough. The side dishes were so little as well. Honestly the bean sprouts given wasn't even enough for two bites. Don't even get me started on the tomato and egg. Please refer to my photo. That picture was how the food came like. You can tell from the side of the bento box that the portion did not even reach half way. It was barely a quarter filled. And that grease...That was disgusting. That's not egg you see; that's just majority oil. How can you mess up on something so simple of a dish like tomato and eggs? That's a Taiwanese stable! The Taiwanese sausage and rice is a sad imitation of SinBala's signature dish. If you're craving Taiwanese sausage nearby, literally go across the street and order it from Golden Leaf.

Yelp
Not professional as they declared , far away from authentic Taiwanese food. Don't expect too much

Yelp
I always want to support local small business like this. Especially during this tragic COVID-19 situation. This place gave me a vibe of home even I'm not a Taiwanese. I liked their lunch set. They are super affordable with great quality. I liked the fried pork chop, not too much batter and the pork chop was still juicy. The fresh scallions with chicken bento was my other favorite. The chicken was always fresh and well-cooked. I also loved their side dishes in the bentos.

Yelp
COVID safe!! Combo bento boxes are filled with veggies and goodies!! Delicious Taiwanese fast food at small mom and pop place. During remodeling of the plaza, there is no sign. But it's the middle shop with large yellow delivery sign 626-293-8128, and indoor yellow sign saying beef noodle soup. Loved the - Lionheads (meatballs) combo - Taiwanese Pork Chop (crispy version) combo - Taiwanese Oyster Omelette -- this was way better than expected. - Pancake was simple. But appreciate it not getting soggy. - Individual small soup. (((Combos came with steamed or sauted veggies, seaweed, fried tofu, corn, and tea egg. Subject to change, varies on what they cook/serve that day))) COVID safe! Pay credit card, and pick up food at the front table. Staff wears masks the whole time and don't want to touch your card -- Love it! Order via phone by 815pm or via Yelp's GrubHub. They also deliver themselves 626-293-8128. Staff understands English. Items are placed in tightly wrapped plastic bags. Food containers sadly are not microwavable, and requires to be put on a plate but not a big deal.

Yelp
Great small family restaurant! Lots of veg options for me while my husband gets is popcorn chicken or beef noodle soup. The Stinky Tofu was so good. I like that they added a small side of their pickled cabbage. Any time I get a craving for stinky tofu, I come here.

Yelp
The 老闆 here is super covid paranoid (this is a good thing). He will do his best to maintain 20+ ft of distance with you while wearing a mask. I appreciate your diligence, sir. On a food note: I ordered a fried stinky tofu, and it was like a stink bomb exploded in my car on the drive home--wonderfully putrid--but you can't taste the stinky flavor when you bite in. The 泡菜 pickled cabbage that comes with it is a fantastic sweet/sour tangy compliment. Overall, was not bad!

Yelp
Great food, good service too. Family owned and very tradition home cooked style. I like the Scallion pancake, can't handle the stinky tofu.
