The 14 Hottest Restaurants in Dallas, May 2024

"Dive into Nepalese fare at this South Arlington restaurant. Menu highlights include momo dumplings, filled with chicken, pork, beef, potato, and a veggie option. Other notable dishes worth trying are the keema noodles served with finely chopped meat and wok-cooked chicken chili. There’s also a speakeasy with a limited menu and cocktails open in the evenings." - Courtney E. Smith

So this is a cool place in Arlington. Javier was an excellent bar tender. Drinks were consistent and good. He helped us with choosing on the menu. Happy hour is all day Thursdays. Food tasted good. Two things that aren’t negatives but just a heads up is they do charge 20% tip automatically and there’s nothing to eat for anyone doing hardcore keto. But can’t complain. Cool atmosphere. It reminded me of a place you’d find on Miami Beach.

My boyfriend and I visited this speakeasy lounge last night and had an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Javier, who truly made the night memorable. He was not only a fantastic bartender but also a great entertainer—putting on a bit of a show as he crafted each drink with precision and flair. Javier carried great conversation throughout the night and made excellent recommendations based on our taste preferences. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and it really elevated the whole experience. We’ll definitely be coming back—and hoping Javier is behind the bar again! Highly recommend. 🍸✨

Yall! Listen the vibes here are immaculate! It looks like an ice cream parlor on the outside but the minute you walk inside —- and make an immediate left, you’re transformed into a private bar area with nice tasting drinks. I recommend coming here as this is something new for Arlington!! My friend and I had a really good time here. We ordered the Himalayan Old Fashioned.

Visited for the first time and tried the Chicken Taipo it came with spicy mayo and I absolutely loved it! The ambience inside the bar is awesome, with a great Nepali vibe. They also offer a student discount during happy hour (10% off). Definitely a must-try spot!

Immaculate food, impeccable atmosphere, impressive service. With a vibrant vibe, and an authentically delicious and affordable menu, this is the perfect place for a date night or group outing. From the moment you step in, you’ll be treated very well by the welcoming and friendly staff who will ensure you have a good and fun time here.

Javier and Vansh are the best. They tailor and personalize every drink to exactly what you like and they don’t miss. They go above and beyond for their service. The ambience, music, vibe and whole experience is fantastic. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend

I went to Taipo after dark, the back opens up at five and from 5 to 7 they have a happy hour with half-price drinks and food. My brother and I went after dinner so later around nine. We each had two drinks and then my brother decided you have to have one more we were served by Javier, the coolest bartender ever. He was so entertaining and had such skill. It was really amazing to watch him. As ever it’s super cool back there the front looks like it’s just a little snack shack but once you enter the black and gold doors, you become part of the back that’s more like a alter to alcohol and really good food. We will definitely be back.

Was walking around Downtown Arlington when I noticed this spot. I noticed they had a special on Mondays on their Momo’s for $5. I never had any food from Nepal all I have to say it’s good. We had 3 of the momo’s one was the classic, pan fried and the last one I don’t remember the name. Which that one was drenched in a good sauce not spicy but it was flavorful. I would recommend going on a Monday to try it out. Then you can order something else. I will be back next time to try their fried rice, chow mein and the chicken sandwich. The staff gave me the great suggestions. Highly recommend this spot.

Yelp
It's nice to have something different in Arlington. I've driven by many times and never went in because it always looked empty. The front part is a Tiffany blue color and looks similar to a fast food setup, but if you go through the double doors to your left you enter a quaint bar area/restaurant. Cool ambience, great friendly service and really good food.

Yelp
This place was amazing! At first glance it looks like a small to go space, but there is a speakeasy in the back! The food was fantastic. We had the fried rice with chicken (very flavorful) the beef chili Momo's pan seared, and potato sticks! All seasoned perfectly with spices. Lay was our waitress and she was such a joy and so sweet! Very attentive and made great suggestions. Carlos was our bartender, we were feeling adventurous, so we asked him to surprise us with drinks he thought we would like, and he made both of us drinks we really enjoyed! Come check this place out! Live music on Friday nights too!!!

Yelp
My only real experience with Nepalese momos, are a couple of places I have been to in Irving. My friend and I were looking for dumplings in Arlington, and this place has excellent reviews. We just ordered food at the counter, and did not go to the backroom for table service and cocktails. The front is very basic. Counter service, self serve drink fridge, and disposable containers. I ordered the pan fried pork momos in Szechuan sauce. It was a bright red sauce with some sauteed veg. I was expecting some heat, as is standard with szechwan cuisine. I was disappointed. The sauce was red, there were sauteed veggies, and it was on the oily side. However, it had NO heat. It didn't really even have much flavor. The dumplings themselves were pretty tasty, but the sauce was bland. I will go out of my way and head to Cafemandu in Irving. They are also open late.

Yelp
Very good. Service was ok in the speakeasy. The food was great. My favorite is the stir fry and lavender lemonade.

Yelp
Coolest Nepalese restaurant and speakeasy. If you are looking for a unique dining experience this is the place. When you first enter, it is your standard quick dining experience but the food is nothing short of amazing; serving momos and taipos and a number of other Nepalese dishes. The food is great and the portions are huge. Now for the speakeasy part. Tucked away behind a beautiful door is the elegant and culturally stunning bar. The atmosphere is laid back and just enough noise to make the experience feel intimate. The ceilings are hand painted and the art shipped in from Nepal. The drinks were unique and delicious! Would highly recommend the speakeasy for a nice date.

Yelp
Take out from Taipo wad delicious! The only thing I wasn't impressed by was the sausage on a stick. It seemed like it was just a hot dog. The noodles were really good and had a nice kick. The taipo were SO GOOD. The atmosphere and decor in the speakeasy Behind the Door were great. The food was excellent. Delicious flavors with just the right amount of spice. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the drinks at all, though. They were all $14 - $18. For that price I expect a lot of booze. Like at 4 kahunas I'm happy to pay those prices bc the drinks are well crafted and boozy. These were not. Not boozy. Too much ice. Not very unique or impressive flavors. We'll definitely go again since the food was so good, so hopefully, the drinks will be better next time.

Yelp
Solid 4. You order at a counter and go pick it up when ready. Front restaurant area is small and the blue is a little too bright if you have a headache. The food is good, a little on the pricey side. They have noodle dishes a dumplings (momos) they are much bigger than you expect. Get extra sauce, it's good! If you can't handle any spice at all you might want to warn them. No fountain drinks, only bottles. They have a speakeasy in the back but I haven't been. It's a decent place for lunch since it's close to campus but service is kinda slow sometimes, so maybe go for a long lunch!

Yelp
What a gem of a place! I ordered almost all the food off the menu and everything was so good!!! The drink menu is really cool because they have pictures of each drink and what's in it. The drinks were very upscale and smooth! The staff was super nice and recommended their favorites which we tried. They even gave us a free order of French fries (= Will def b back!

Yelp
First of all, the blue color throughout the restaurant is calming and welcoming. You walk in and order, then get your own seating. There's only one cashier taking your order. They call your name to pick up drinks and food. Being a Nepalese restaurant we had to order the classic Chicken Momo. We also ordered 2 sticks of sausage on a stick. We also ordered the classic butter chicken sandwich. All the dishes came out rather quick and delicious. Everything is served cafeteria style, like fast food. Not really a sit-down family restaurant, most of the crowd was UTA students.

Yelp
Best fried rice I've ever had! Delicious drinks too. The bartenders were so friendly. Loved the atmosphere!

Yelp
After seeing beautiful images of this place on IG I knew I had to come! I heard the place gets pretty packed so I decided to take a trip from Dallas to Arlington for an early date night on Saturday. My partner and I arrived a little after 5. The restaurant is very cute with a cool sea blue hue throughout. But once you look to your left, you see a mammoth black and gold door. On the other side of that door is exactly what we came to experience. And once you enter, you're automatically transported to another world! Luckily, we were the first ones there so the place was empty and we choose a nice little spot in the corner. We were immediately greeted by a nice young lady who brought out water and the menu. The menu consisted of craft cocktails in the front and a limited food menu in the back. The waitress advised that typically the limited food menu is all that is served in the back. However, since it was not full and early, we could order from the full menu in the kitchen, which had a lot more options. We decided on beef keema noodles, beef taipo, chicken taipo, sausage skewer and fries. Everything was amazing! The keema noodles were indeed spicy, but very flavorful. So I can't tolerate spicy food I'd proceed with caution lol. I also ordered the lycheetini and my partner ordered the old fashioned. Tip: If you want a show with the smoked Old Fashioned you'll need to sit at the bar The drinks were well balanced and they didn't skimp on the liquor. Everything was reasonably priced! All in all, this is a fantastic spot and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We stopped by Taipo for lunch on Sunday and it was delicious! You order at a small counter and then wait for your name to be called. The space itself is small but a good amount of seating and the whole room had a fun turquoise color palette that they carry throughout the space and accessories. We got the Napoli style chicken stir fry and chicken and beef dumplings. Everything was delicious and very well seasoned. The food came out hot and quickly. I've never had Nepalese food before and this was very tasty.

Yelp
My wife and I ordered from here, and the order was ready pretty quickly for pick up. I ordered the Pan Seared and the chicken dumplings. They were amazing, I really enjoyed the crispy dumplings and the chicken inside had great flavor. The pan sears were also delicious and had a good tasting red sauce with peppers. We will definitely order from here again.

Yelp
This place serves pretty good and authentic Nepali food. We came here for lunch on a weekend which wasn't too busy. We ordered the butter masala pan seared chicken monos and a Taipo refresher. The monos were cooked well, very flavorful, and a good portion size. I was hoping for a larger assortment of sauces but it comes with one type of sauce. The prices are reasonable compared to other Nepali restaurants in the area. The only downside is their menu is pretty limited in variety. If you have never had Nepali food, it is a good place to try out!

Yelp
I tried Taipo for the first time, and it is all that! The beef is tender and definitely full of flavor. The sauces are spicy, definitely not for chumps. I was pleasantly surprised at the exotic spices that were packed in these 2 dumplings. I tried the Mango Lassi, and it was very good but could have been a little sweeter. The place has an inviting color palette and is very clean. If you want a bit of a surprise visit after 5pm.

Yelp
Absolutely divine experience dining at this authentic Nepalese gem! The pan-seared momos were a true highlight, bursting with savory flavors and perfectly cooked to achieve that delightful crispness on the outside while maintaining tender goodness inside. Each bite was a taste of culinary perfection. The fried momos were equally impressive, boasting a delightful crunch with every bite, and the filling was exquisitely seasoned, leaving me craving for more. Taipos, a Nepalese delicacy, were a revelation! The blend of spices and the tender meat made for an unforgettable culinary journey. Each bite was a burst of flavor that left me wanting to explore more Nepalese cuisine. And let's not forget the spicy chicken sandwich--a bold and flavorful creation that satisfied my craving for something with a kick. The chicken was tender, the spices were perfectly balanced, and the bread was fresh and toasted to perfection. The ambiance was cozy, the service impeccable, and the food, simply outstanding. A definite must-visit for anyone craving an authentic taste of Nepal. Can't wait to come back for more!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. It was clean, and bright with a retro feeling to the decor. The food was delicious and fresh. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great food and great ambience. They play great music in Saturdays and Mondays in the bar behind the big black doors. The bartender are great and I would recommend the Old Fashion.

Yelp
Went for lunch today. It was busy but moved quick. Counter was very helpful and answered any questions. I had pan seared pork dumplings & beef chow mein. Large portions. Will make another meal from leftovers. Very clean & nice interior. Open 11-midnight. Check this place out.

Yelp
Great foods and drinks!! Fries were beyond delicious!! We enjoyed everything, the speakeasy was beautiful

Sweta S.

Yelp
Worst service!!!! Food was good and the ambiance was good but the servers didn't bother to take orders...we literally had to wait for almost an hour for our order..they kept forgetting to bring us our food. The staff very unfriendly.

Yelp
Really cool concept and ambiance. Tried the Tapio Chicken it was tasteful and would have probably been better for the food was actually hot in temperature. My recommendation would be that they work on customer service. Most were gathered in the corner on their phones...

Yelp
This place is a whole vibe. The Drinks are on point, the food is amazing, music is just rights and the ambiance is among the best I have experienced for a speakeasy. It's a must go.

Charles A.

Yelp
1st visit Interesting concept Walk in and place to order, and about ten tables. After five, walk thru some doors to a bar with about twelve tables and seats at the bar.. With a wall and some tables on the other side I think most of the employees are still training, They had to ask a few questions on what to do. When the bar is open, they have a short food menu We were told if you order food when you walk in, you can eat it in the bar,,, if you order a drink Food was good Just watch out and ask,,, if the food is spicy or even a little spicy,,, if you are not into spices y/ hot. Anyway give it a try

Yelp
Such a fun environment! We tried several cocktails and they were all delicious! The staff was friendly and the ambiance was as everything!

Robert M.

Yelp
Staff was friendly. What you see is clean but not inviting, not many tables. It's more of a pick up and go place. However, at 5pm the giant doors to the side are unlocked which leads to the bar. It is dark in there but much more inviting with items / decorations imported from Nepal. I'm looking forward to going back and having a drink in the bar.

Kimberly F.

Yelp
Friendly staff, good vibes, and delicious food! Our momo's came with tomato chutney. The fries were more addicting than we thought they would be. Would honestly take a drive out here to walk out with a box of them.

Riza R.

Yelp
The aromatic spices and authentic flavors in every dish showcase the rich tapestry of Nepalese cuisine. They have a gorgeous black door that leads to their speakeasy! The mixologists are true artisans, crafting exquisite drinks. 10/10!!!

Abraham K.

Yelp
I had a Butter masala chicken sandwich, it was an amazing south asian take on a fried chicken sandwich. It was served to me hot, crispy and with a great level of spice. The fries were also very good especially paired with the house sauce. I will definitely be coming frequently.

Lakeisha S.

Yelp
They have an insanely beautiful speakeasy!! Outside restaurant has large variety of stir fry, dumpling, sandwiches, stick food and more. The flavors were delicious and great customer service. The bright colors of the restaurant make it aesthetically pleasing to sit and eat. The hidden speakeasy is a cherry on top! What a well thought-out concept and definitely something Arlington needed!

Allan W.

Yelp
Had chow mein, chicken was over cooked and dried out. Menu said it contained vegetables, it had a few slivers of onion. Wife had fried rice. It was no better. Staff was to busy looking at their phones to us attention. It was pricey for what they call fast food, $48 for 2 people. Thought I'd give it a try because it's new and had good reviews. Can't recommend the place and won't be returning.

Phil D.

Yelp
I've heard great things about this place and it did not disappoint. The beef Taipo was excellent. I'll be back to try the momos, stir fry and chicken sandwich!
