Taiyo Ramen was FANTASTIC, DELICIOUS, & SUPER CHILL!!!!! This going to be my new favorite place. I loved EVERYTHING I tried, food and drink 😋😍!!!!! The food was so fresh and hot. Our food came out of the kitchen quickly and was beautifully presented 🤩🤩. The service was wonderful, our server rocked. She was in incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, sweet, and cool. The Japanese art work and ambiance of the restaurant just enhanced the awesomeness of the experience.

Revising my review because the restaurant name and menu have changed and I have seen considerable improvement since the change. The Ramen bowls are delicious, with savory soup and other stuff in it. The fried noodles are very flavorful also. They have a kids menu and stuff off it are of good quality, although a bit expensive for kids items. But kids get free dinner on Monday through Friday before 6:30pm, which is a sweet deal.

It was hard not to give a perfect 5 stars there was so much we loved about this spot. Atmosphere is amazing Alia was attentive, friendly & informative. The music unexpectedly perfect (thanks Hannah)! We ordered Brussels, salmon and tempura as appetizers. The Brussels were slap ya mammy good. We were a little underwhelmed by the salmon. For entrees we got the seafood and spicy beef ramen as well as the noodle stir fry. The spicy beef was so good that it sadly put the seafood ramen to shame. The beef bursted with flavor while the seafood seemed slightly under seasoned. We fought over who got to finish the beef ramen! Stir fry Noodles were also great. We will be returning soon, cannot stop thinking about those Brussels and beef ramen!

6/10 stars- appealing and filling! For me, prices were fair since the restaurant is located in a pretty nice hotel. The ambiance was great and service was awesome. I got the tonkatsu ramen (always a classic for me in new places) and it was good. Noodles were lovey but the pork belly slices were a bit too thin (about 5 bites or so!) and not very eventful, flavor-wise. Broth is pretty decent and a great blend of flavors. I’d say go to this one if it’s nearby or convenient, but not if you can choose another ramen place with perhaps more adventurous flavors.

Makan was among my favorite restaurants in the city and the rebranding to Taiyo falls under the adage that a rose by any other color remains just as sweet. I will begin by lamenting the loss of some menu options such as the pork belly fried rice. Although they will be missed, there is much to celebrate in their wake. The new menu allows for an expanded range of choices for Ramen that go from classic tonkatsu pork broth with pork belly and chicken shio (chicken broth and chicken breast) to a robust seafood Ramen or duck Ramen. I have greatly enjoyed the kimchi beef Ramen. The broth carries the vinegar and spice kick of the kimchi onto the tongue as you slurp noodles with a complement of thing sliced beef. The spice isn't overpowering and neither is the vinegar. Together they establish a complexity of flavor and texture whose sum is more than any of its parts. Each of these ramen bowls can be complemented with flavor bombs such as the spice bomb (plenty of spice and umami), herb bomb , xo bomb and the soy garlic. Toppings are another addition which include extra meats, vegetables, or the fun soy marinated garlic cloves (garlic press included). Do not miss the buns with the obvious pork belly standing out but the other such as duck are equally worth trying. Wait staff have been excellent on each visit and I look forward to each return. This is an establishment that demonstrates a consistency and care that transcends dining out. Your meal becomes a dialogue between your palette and the kitchen's culinary delivery.

Nice patio. Cool seating. Great ramen. Good whiskey selection. Came here for a fundraiser and had the mushroom ramen...good noodles, egg, mushroom. Broth is pretty good. They will bring you spicy Sriracha if you ask. The shareable salt and pepper fried shrimp is great. I really enjoyed it. The pork and shrimp dumplings in a chili sauce are also delicious! They have a great beer selection with Tropicalia. They also have a nice whiskey selection. There is only street parking. The service is great. Definitely would go back.

Great place to get Ramen! I got the Spicy Beef Ramen (with the additional spice they add on the side instead of in the broth). It was really good! Just the right amount of flavor and not too spicy at all!

You come for the food then stay because of the conversation. Brian the bartender was great. Cool place to meet some new people mainly because it’s connected to the Marriott hotel. The ramen is good and they have a good selection of add-ins. They also have a great selection of Japanese whiskey.
