"Taj Stores, or The Taj as locals fondly call it, has been on Brick Lane since the 1980s. First and foremost it’s a Bangladeshi supermarket, with an excellent selection of spices and produce. But as it’s grown bigger so has its selection of produce, which now spans the entire world and makes it one of the best neighbourhood supermarkets around. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Majority of Indian grocery items are available. Worth a visit!

Horrible server, I paid via apple pay and I asked for a bag and was told it would be 10p. I said that’s fine but I don’t have cash (hence why I paid with my phone). I was told cash only and even before I could say anything, he started asking for the next customer. Never witnessed such rude and dismissive behaviour, I don’t care how old you are, it gives you no right to treat people like that. I will never shop there again.

Bought mangos from these guys online, cost me £25.99 for a single box. They were all completely rotten. Emailed their customer service for help only to be ignored. Would not buy from these guys again.

Google
Great helpful staff. Regular groceries plus Indian/Bangladeshi foods and bits and bobs too. (As at 1st May 2021 ... you can buy Indian mangoes including Alphonsos here!). RECOMMEND.

Google
Great place to find South Asian groceries. The name is a little misleading as apprently it's mostly a Bangladeshi store but you'll find all the indian food and condiments than any other store. The prices are ofcourse expensive. A 40 inr thing is priced at £2.99 for example but that's everywhere as these goods are being imported. I'm glad I was able to find all of the things I've been looking for.

Yelp
inexpensive and well stocked dry and wet tradition indian groceries and very polite and helpful staff

Yelp
If you are looking for Indian / Pakistani / Bangladeshi Groceries in Central London, Taj Stores is a great place to pick them up. They sell spices in bags ranging in size from 100gms to 5 kilos and the price is way lower than even Tesco. For those who know what these are: Taj stocks Maggi hot & sour masala chilli sauce, Roohafza & fresh curry leaves (almost impossible to find anywhere in central London) Its a sprawling store with huge variety & great prices. They have fresh fruits & vegetables too. Plenty of namkin, spice pastes, pickles, variety of dhal & rice. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Yelp
If you're into cooking Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani dishes at home, this store has a full selection of ingredients for you. When I first moved to this area, I bought a great Indian cookbook and I stocked my spice cabinet with purchases from here. I keep coming back. The staff there provide "no nonsense" service. A nice benefit is that while you're shopping, they're playing slamming music sometimes. One time I liked the tune so much I dared ask for the name of the CD. The checkout clerk unsmilingly wrote it down for me, told me where to buy it (further down the street on Brick Lane); he definitely hooked me up! (another time I ended up buying a car here too, but that's a story for another time and place!)

Yelp
As a little boy I used to go to Taj Stores with my Dad. Now I am in my early fifties and still shop at Taj Stores regularly for my every day shopping needs. Jamal bahi and all his employees are very tactful, courteous and attentive at all times. Their retail environment is one stop shop for all your Asian food shopping needs and experience. I love this gem of a shop and would recommend it to anyone without any anxiety. Ali Ahmed

Yelp
Taj stores is one of the nicer Bangladeshi markets in the area. They have a fantastic produce selection--much better than the local Tesco, and carry a variety of standard and exotic veg. They've also got halal meats, which I've gotten but am still suspicious of. I'm not sure if this suspicion is valid or not, but a lot of the cuts of meat seemed a little bit cheap or fatty. Still, it's always tasted okay and I haven't gotten sick yet, so I guess that's a good sign. They also have a wide variety of South Asian (but not Southeast Asian) foods. There's also a large selection of frozen foods, but it smells a little funny by the freezer cases so thus far, I've stayed away. Overall, much nicer than it's closest competitor Bangla City.

Yelp
If your recipe tries to get funky and throw in a few ethnic ingredients this is the place to go. Even if it isn't it is still a great place to go. You can get massive bunches of coriander, lumps of ginger, and all sorts of wierd fruits and vegetables for pennies. They also have a wide selection of every Indian spice and/or nut/ grain/ lentil/ seed you might need. Basically its great and cheap. Go

Yelp
One of the few stores in Central London where u can find all Indian herbs and spices. Size ranging from 100 gms to 2 kg pack. All Indian lentils too can be found here. MDH range of spices and Shan too is available here. So u can go there once in a month to collect your groceries. However, doesn't keep much variety on Indian ghee, oil, basmati rice and Indian tea. Ur day is made if u have to shop the groceries. Great value for money.

Yelp
I recently went to Taj Indian Supermarket, they are exceptional with the variety of product and u will get beyond expectation stuff. They have everything you can think of but be careful with bulk shopping as today I have been charged 1.99 for Gullen biscuits and on pack it's. clearly mentioned 1.49 as well as £0.99 is charged extra as miscl, pls double check before purchase although the staff is very friendly and store is massive but it's our responsibility to make sure we are charged accurately

Yelp
I love this shop! It has everything I need to cook Indian dishes and more. It remind me of my days in Asia. Prices are very reasonable and people are very friendly. Location of the sho is also very interesting and exotic.
