The 38 Essential Stockholm Restaurants

"Stockholm’s large new city-center development at Brunkebergstorg includes two hotels as well two restaurants, Tak and UNN. Their culinary leader, Frida Ronge, previously worked with Sayan Isaksson at the Michelin-starred Esperanto and ran her own restaurant, VRå, at the Clarion Hotel Post in Gothenburg. Tak features Scandinavian flavors mixed with more than a few Japanese touches and a jaw-dropping view of Stockholm rooftops. Its even-more-exclusive sister restaurant, UNN, is Frida Ronge’s eight-seat shrine to teppanyaki. [$$$]" - Per Styregård

Amazing service and friendly staff. The food was incredible and we enjoyed every dish. Came for a friends birthday and it was 100% the right choice. Lovely atmosphere and decor - the restaurant and bath are stylish and sleek in look, gives a really nice vibe. Would come here again. We ate a full 3 course meal and had 2 drinks each and were impressed with the price. Went upstairs and had a few more drinks after also. Loved it!!

Holy smokes this place was a vibe. Must visit for anyone in Stockholm. A brilliant head chef crafts beautiful meals with a Japanese Swedish fusion. I came from Japan a month ago and this food rivaled anything I had over there. The views were incredible as well. Highly recommend.

Fantastic dinner, excellent service (ask for Bianca), amazing view of sunset over Stockholm. Food was creative and delicious. They were out of the duck, so we had the cod and the pork belly. I can’t recommend more highly.

Wow! This restaurant had it all: the incredible atmosphere and stunning rooftop view, great staff, and phenomenal food. Not to mention great drinks. We had the Skokupan and Green pea guacamole with pre cockstls. Both were beautifully plated and delicious. Our main entrees were the sirloin and pork belly. I will definitely be dining again the next time I’m in Stockholm.

From drinks overlooking the city to a delicious dinner, we enjoyed every moment of our time at TAK. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was top notch. For two people, we shared a started (Tofu Atsuage, which was phenomenal), and several sides (potato tempura fries - delicious but portion should have been larger; and cabbage - just delicious!) and each had the Swedish sirloin, which was just perfect. The desserts were a bit underwhelming, and the only part of the meal that didn't knock our socks off. We'd highly recommend an evening at Tak, and will be back in the future!

The food was absolutely delish !! I’m usually an extremely picky eater and I was actually really surprised that I loved the dumplings ! They had so much flavour in them and just the right amount of spice, and the purin was awesomesauce !! :3

5/5 Stars We recently visited TAK restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Here’s a breakdown of what we loved: 1. Service: The service was truly outstanding. Our waitress was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional, ensuring that every detail of our dining experience was perfect. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. 2. Food: The food was absolutely amazing! Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The chef’s attention to detail and quality of ingredients were evident in every bite. 3. Atmosphere: The atmosphere at TAK is warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy vibe. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a relaxed evening out. 4. View: The view from the restaurant is a great bonus. Whether you’re enjoying it during the day or at night, it adds an extra touch to the overall experience. We were impressed by how everything came together so seamlessly. TAK exceeded our expectations, and we’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience! Thank you, TAK, for such a wonderful evening!

Yelp
We went in with high expectations for this popular rooftop restaurant and unfortunately left very disappointed. Service was bad. The waiter was not attentive in the slightest, we had to wave him down to order drinks, food, more drinks, dessert and finally we had to ask 3 times over 15 mins time to get our check. We must have sat with dirty dishes in front of us, waiting for them to be cleared and to get the check for 20-30 mins which was quite irritating. When the waiter was at our table, we felt we were disturbing him and he clearly did not want us asking questions about the menu to which he really had no answers. When it came to the food- eh. The Arctic Char starter was completely tasteless. The hand rolls are a complete mess to eat and drowning in mayo! Yuck! Desserts were prepared well but the soy creme brûlée was far from tasty. The venue is beautiful and there's a great bar just above Tak. Next time we will skip Tak and instead head straight to Izakaya up stairs

Yelp
I don't think the food was worth the price point, but I guess the view is the selling point. If you want to eat here, make reservations! And then go upstairs for the rooftop bar.

Yelp
We came here as one of our friends recommended it and well, they wanted to experience it too. We went to Tak's rooftop bar along with placing a reservation at one of their restaurants. And placing a reservation was an absolute must because it was super packed. Let's start first for the rooftop. It's first come first serve so if you want to enjoy the top you need to get here sort of early. They have food up there, but the food is pretty simplistic. The prices of the drinks are I guess normal for a restaurant? But I think the biggest draw here is that the views here are amazing. We stayed on the side where there were buildings so we didn't quite get the best seats on the roof (scene look out towards the city) but it was still good. We got the view of a huge party across the way. Now onto the restaurant. The view again was still amazing knowing that it was a floor down from the rooftop. Overall, the food was fine, but it wasn't absolutely crazy amazing in my opinion. So what did we have? I got the cod, which was the fish for the day along with a side of tomato ceviche (this was extra, I thought it came with the meal but nope!). The Josper bread came with the meal so that was nice, and I enjoyed it when it was hot! I also got the spicy tuna roll which I thought was pretty good. I mean, you have to eat fish especially in a city like Stockholm. Overall, I enjoyed it here! I do have to say though it's not really worth it in my opinion, but the food wasn't bad and even though it wasn't mind blowing, most of the money that you spend here is going to go towards the view. I say that because when I came back down to leave there was a line to get up there like it was a club!

Yelp
Not sure why people here are so down on this place - (plus many are 1 star, no review) We had good service (not great, but not snooty or uppity or anything) Food was really well created and crafted...The table ordered a number of varied fish entrees - we did not do the tasting menu...(included yellowfin tuna, prawns, , Poke bowl, and a noodle dish) Views were spectacular... Cocktails were yummy and wine selection v good Would def put on the list while visiting Stockholm

Yelp
This review is for both the restaurant and the Izakaya. I hosted a happy hour/after work for some colleagues at the Izakaya, which is beautiful! Loved the decorations, lights, and table set up. There was just one main issue -- this place was hard to find for my guests! The rooftop is a bit of a maze with too many options and the izakaya isn't well marked. The view from the roof is amazing, though. Once my guests made it, they loved the drinks and the food! I enjoyed the many non-alcoholic drink options. Loved the Chef's choice Sushi moriawase, which had some of the most delicious and creative sushi rolls I've ever had. We also got the pork bao, which was a lot of food (they did warn us) and two desserts: Sesam & brynt smör sandwich and the matcha ice cream. Everything was so good! Then, I went downstairs to the main restaurant to have dinner with my main team. I told them how incredible the sushi had been upstairs, so I was shocked it wasn't on the main restaurant menu. So we got the Chef's Choice, which I thought would have more sushi, and the Crispy duck. The food was good, but I have to say, I liked the Izakaya's dishes a lot more.

Yelp
If you have a party of more than 8 people... do NOT go to this restaurant. The food is good, but not worth the price if you do not sit at a table with a view. This place is about the view. We were a table of 10, seated in the coat room, at the so-called community table which is really an extension of the cash register table. We spent over 11000kr... for a really disappointing party. The staff kept saying there was nothing they could have done, but there were empty tables everywhere. I have brought many groups to this place. I will not do so again.

Yelp
The breakfast was REALLY GOOD! Staying at the HOBO Hotel and breakfast was included--very good blend of Swedish food with American classics. Can't wait to eat there tomorrow morning!

Yelp
Two words: too salty. While the views are outstanding and the menu looked interesting, many of the dishes were too salty and heavy handed. The sake is also crazy expensive too for the price / quality ratio, although we may be biased being from California. We opted for the menu of the month which included: * Oysters, fermented chili sauce, ponzu. The menu included one of these and boy was it a salt bomb. Could barely taste the oysters around it -- recommend picking up the oyster to get it out of the sauce instead of slurping it like we did. * Scallop, soy and yuzu dressing, cucumber, jalapeño. Although this used the same sauce as the oyster, it was much better since the sauce just dressed the scallop lightly. Pretty decent overall but negative points for the same sauce in two dishes * Beef tartare. The fried shrimp chip was a nice touch but this was also quite salty. * Chirashi: closer to a salmon poke bowl than a chirashi in ingredients and flavor. Pretty average poke bowl, could do with a bit more tartness. * Pork bao. We added this on and it tied with the scallop as the best thing we had. The sauce was a bit too sweet and the bao a tad doughy, but we enjoyed it. The sake they recommended was quite pricy (over $100 usd for the bottle) and too sweet. Service was on par for Sweden. A bit bummed in this meal since we'd had pretty great food all over Stockholm but the one time we ventured into Asian food, it was disappointing

Yelp
We were sure to put Tak on our must eat at list during the initial planning stages of our trip. It has pretty much everything amazing that one could want in a restaurant. A spectacular view, drop dead gorgeous modern interior design, and a fantastic menu. i wish we would have been able to try the outdoor rooftop bar in summertime, I bet that is in.cred.ible. The restaurant is located above the Hobo hotel and even at night the view of the lit up city was lovely, but I really was itching to see it during the day with the sun streaming through the large open wall of windows and hitting the glistening gold geometric metal framing the dining room. We were greeted and our coats taken as soon as we arrived. The host led us down the walkway with the exquisitely framed ceiling and stunning gold dividers. The open kitchen gave a dramatic backdrop and added to the modern look of the restaurant. We decided to sample three items from the menu as we had a couple other stops to make..so little time..so much Stockholm to sample. Our server was great and made sure to take care of me even though I have to be a pain as I'm a no choice allergy member of the glutenisgross club. A miso soup came with our meal which I couldn't have, but the kitchen sent me out an amazing mushroom broth which I was happy to have as a substitute any day. Our menu selection was the blue mussels and scallops which were beautifully plated and to die for. The chirashisushi was fresh and delicious and gone in a matter of seconds. The restaurant is a little pricey but definitely worth it. The combo of the incredible dining experience, gorgeous view and beautiful interior design along with the spot on food delivering in both flavor and presentation; there is no reason why not to visit Tak.

Yelp
Views were good. Service was mechanical, unfriendly and amateurish would not recommend

Yelp
Wow the views are stunning here! A must see spot if you're visiting Stockholm. I heard rumors about Stockholm's rooftop bar scene and I was overwhelmingly impressed. The food did not disappoint either, although pricey I can't complain as the music was also great.

Yelp
Overrated over priced. The waiter either was full on under the influence of cocaïne or he was just the must snobbish human being in the world. The miso as an œuvre bouche was probably greaser than a McDonald's over heated fries. The only thing that I enjoyed in my starter was the bread with fermented butter. The rest was over cooked salmon, garlicky and oniony green sauce which completely killed the taste of the scallops. The main dish was part of the sushi menu. My next door sushi place has a better taste than a mayo filled over cooked fish in the super "fancy-trendy-hyped" restaurant. Not recommended, not a place to go if you want to have good food. Perfect to look at the decor, enjoy the super fancy-ish crowd and the snobbish waiters.

Yelp
Delicious and decent priced food. Blackened cof sushi was amazing. Would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the poor service, took 50 minutes to get the food. Beer was ridiculously expensive, 140SEK for a 50cl draft of Asahi

Yelp
Although recent to Stockholms extensive dining portfolio, TAK is likely here for the long run. Located above Hobo hotel and boasting a spectacular rooftop view of both city and harbour, this place will not only nurture the eye but mostly the tastebuds. Dishes tend to be fish oriented and located somewhere between Japan and Sweden, as if Russia was never in the middle. Dishes are small in portion, yet rich in taste. They have a broad menu of "Swedified" orienteal style cuisine. The wine selection is extensive and original, perhaps a bit too original in some instances (I wasn't a fan of some of the sweeter wines). Staff is superb in general and prices, although not cheap, were were in line with taste. All in all, definetly a place I'd like to visit again.

Yelp
Spacious place serving good fusion food on top of a hotel and office space. Rooftop bar has quite nice views and is always crowded.

Yelp
An amazing, with great cocktail, served by nice staff in a well designed space. Perfect for an afterwork under the sun, even if it chilly outside considering the veranda. I only went there for drinks, haven't tried the food. Yet.

Yelp
Nice roof top in the city center of Stockholm ! It can be hard to find a seat and this is why I only put 3 stars, because t is quite annoying to have to stay standing for ages... prices are okay for this kind of place . I can not talk about the food because I have try it . Nice bar for an afterwork for exemple
google avatar

Natalia M.

Yelp
Unfortunately a dissapointment. Overpriced and nothing to highlight in any of the dishes. Good service and nice looking restaurant but the food which is what we were looking forward to let us down.

Jeffrey C.

Yelp
Sounds like Laura and Julie below are probably typical Americans...expected everything handed to them on a silver platter for next to no cost or effort. "I had to wait! They didn't fawn over me and cater to my every demand." They wanted the rest of Stockholm to stop so the Tak staff could wait on them, hand and foot, like royalty they only wish they could be. Obviously "New Money." Bottom Line: don't listen to them. The food, atmosphere, and staff were phenomenal. Best restaurant in Stockholm. I was well treated and well fed, probably because I was polite and used a standard semblance of human decency, respect, and decorum vice being an obnoxious, demanding mess like they were.

Kristen B.

Yelp
Walk on the red carpet and take the elevator to the 14th floor for a fabulous rooftop bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was very friendly, crowd was chic and trendy, busy time seemed like right after work. Take in sweeping city views as you sip on delicious drinks. Food / snacks / apps available as well.

Yelp
Nothing to complain about, and nothing in particular to praise. You get what you'd expect, given the (mid-range) price.
google avatar

Thodoris T.

Yelp
This is a great place at a central location! Food is great & I totally recommend it for lunch or dinner. Awesome view. You can see a 360 view of Stockholm. Good service, clean but a bit pricey.

Yelp
Cool Terrace for the summer months. Have not tried the restaurant but for drinks with amazing view this place is absolutely great and very centrally located. Really liked and will try to come back!

Yelp
Review s for Rabar bar. Great drinks, views and friendly staff. Nice place to relax and enjoy drinks in a modern chic setting.

Yelp
Not allowed in because I have a stroller. Obviously not the right "cool vibe". Not very Scandinavian kids obviously not welcome
