On the Grid : Taka Sushi and Passion

"God-dawg, somebody be a witness: This is the best sushi in town. (Side note: It’s also the best full name of a restaurant, maybe ever. As the website explains, “It is inspired by Barry Manilow’s famous song ‘Copacabana’ in which he sings of ‘Music and Passion.’”). Enter the Pharr Road Japanese-home-like digs and prepare to be enlightened by Chef Taka Moriuchi. Born in Hiroshima, he moved to Atlanta in the ‘90s, where he has studied under Chef Soto (of the once-wondersome, now-closed Soto Sushi) and partnered with Chef Kevin Rathbun on the beautiful, but short-lived Buckhead Life early aughts anthem, Bluepointe (Rest in Power). Sushi, sashimi, nigiri, izakaya, fresh salads, Japanese pudding, and much more—Taka is fresh and tongue-popping, at prices that try not to put the lesser person in debt. One more thing: Chef Taka's blog is flames and if you've been searching for inspirational words from someone who truly respects the hustle, Chef's posts might be the scriptures you've been seeking." - Office of Brothers

Stopped in for dinner. Had a reservation for three. Table was ready for us but were only given two menus for a party of three. Ordered some appetizers and nigiri. Nigiri was kind of small for the price. Excellent desserts.

This is our preferred Japanese cuisine in Atlanta. We have been dining here for years, dating back to its previous location on Pharr Rd in Buckhead. We appreciate Taka's menu, which showcases authentic Japanese cuisine, including sashimi, sushi (onigiri and rolls), and various "Izakaya style" dishes. If you frequently dine on Japanese food, you can identify the chefs' origins through their "Izakaya style menu", which typically features hometown specialties. Therefore, if you enjoy "okonomiyaki" (Japanese savory pancakes), Taka's offers an authentic and delicious option. Taka consistently offers the finest seasonal seafood on his daily specials. Recently, Taka has also showcased an extensive selection of premium sake and Japanese whiskey, featuring some rare varieties. On our last visit, we had the pleasure of savoring 'Hakkaisan, junmai daiginjo, 3-year snow aged'. Notably, golf enthusiasts may recall that sake was featured on Hideki Matsuyama's menu at his Champion Dinner.

Our favorite sushi spot in Atlanta—hands down. The fish is always fresh, the service is warm and consistent, and the ambiance makes every visit special. Plus, their wine selection is not only impressive but also the best-priced in the city. A true hidden gem!

Wow! We used to LOVE this place for takeout as well as dining in. The portion size has gotten super small… this is the $42 sashimi dinner …. And for this price Nakato has superior quality food. Won’t come back!

Google
Simply amazing. The nigiri and sashimi were both outstanding! The sashimi portion size was on the small size but the quality was wonderful. The waitstaff were very knowledgeable and courteous. This is my new goto place for sushi in Atlanta.

Google
Amazing sushi! The sushi here is so fresh and yummy. The uni special was beyond amazing and so were all the other plates we ordered. Will definitely come back during weekdays for the omakase and other dishes that are not offered on the weekends.

Omg, Novi was our server. The entire staff was nice. They have a great selection of wine. The white fish cheeks are amazing. The Sushi is amazing as well.

Yelp
While dining at Big B's next door, I noticed the happy hour menu posted on the door at Taka Sushi. It was at that moment I knew I needed to come back and check it out. We'd brought the pup so we needed to sit outdoors... and of course it was raining... but luckily the outdoor seating was covered. Happy hour consisted of half off beers, discounted select glasses of wine, hot sakes & Taka vodka seltzer. $5 California and spicy tuna rolls and $4-5 salmon/tuna/hamachi nigiri. And honestly that's all I need to sustain myself LOL. We ended up gorging on nigiri and rolls - but to fill up further, we ordered off the regular dinner menu. The okonomiyaki hit the spot and the sashimi sampler was chef's kiss! The fish quality seemed lower in the happy hour dishes than the sashimi sampler, which of course, makes sense. I will have to come back again for a full dining experience to get a better picture of it all!

Yelp
Wonderful Customer service and food. The server was really kind. The only drawback would be the 20% tip that is automatically added.

Yelp
I went here with the family. They got Sushi, and a chicken rice bowl, whereas I got the Taka Ramen. The service was slow, but, it was packed, so I understood. The ambiance was pretty good! I liked it. Personally, my ramen was very.. fishy. I'm not sure of the flavour, but it tasted wrong. I felt sick after it. The Rainbow roll sushi, Diet Coke sushi, and the eel were all delicious (I only tried the rainbow, as I am not a huge sea food fan.) Most will not be getting ramen, and instead will be getting the name sake: Sushi. And for that, it was actually really good. As a non sushi enjoyer, I quite liked what I had. It was very good! Just the right ratio! Also, The Gyoza, which is traditional Japanese style, with Cabbage and all, was phenomenal! Highly suggest it! We got 2 plates of it! Overall, with my Ramen I'd rate it a 2, the rest truly made up for it, and at the end of the day, I actually suggest it!

Yelp
I dont get it, the place is always busy so i thought i would try it. yellowtail cheek was overcooked and extremely small. The salmon skin roll barely had salmon skin in it. There's a lot better sushi places I would not recommend this place. The atmosphere is very good and the outside deck is very nice. The food I wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Where to start. You would not know it from the name or the outside appearance but this place is a wine lovers dream. They have amazing wines At fantastic prices. Just go sit at the bar and grab a bottle Then there is the food. Practically perfect. All around great time. I will be back

Yelp
Spent $83 for five (that's right, five) small sushi rolls. THEY ADDED AN 18% GRATUITY ON THE TO-GO ORDER I PLACED! I can name several sushi spots in the area whom are amazingly better; I only put an order in the location due to work. Two of the five sushi rolls had rather dry rice (not fresh), while the others were either too under seasoned or overly seasoned. The eel and spider rolls were such a disappointment; I feel silly for even trying this place. Never again will I make that mistake. I even called the restaurant back and told them the gratuity was ridiculously high for a to-go order, which was a simple order- nothing extra. All she said was, "sorry... we started doing it to make more money".... Well, you just lost my future business.

Yelp
I eat here every week. Usually on Wednesday. This time it was a drizzly Tuesday and it was packed inside because outside was closed. My company is sometimes a close friend, sometimes my teenage, sometimes a combination. Our orders were teriyaki (chicken and broccoli), udon, some rolls, some more rolls and wine and some more wine. If you bring your own wine, it's a $20 corkage but the wine list and in restaurant selection is so good and well priced, you don't need to. Taka San will take care of you if you let him select the sushi!! And the sleeper hit on the menu is the avocado salad - it's really THAT good. Trust me. Try it.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed that I have to write this. I HATE writing bad reviews... my husband and I are sushi lovers and not sushi rolls, but Nigiri and sashimi. We have traveled all over the country and had sushi at some of the most amazing sushi restaurants. We were so excited to eat here and we're left extremely disappointed in what we received. The fish was fresh, no doubt, so I'll give them credit there. However, I know how most of the fish we got is supposed to taste and it did not taste like ... anything at all. We were both left flabbergasted at how bland it was. I've had sushi from publix that was better. The atmosphere and the service was amazing... but after spending $240.00 without tip (we still tipped fairly bc the ladies were amazing), we will not be going back. I can't stomach that to even see if it was just a "bad batch"

Yelp
Loves this restaurant, definitely will be returning! It's a little bit on the expensive side I'd say, but nothing too surprising for a sushi restaurant. I highly recommend ordering their tofu, the outside skin is so crispy, but the tofu is so soft and silky! Their sushi was amazing. I had several of their rolls, I'm not even sure what exactly I had because I just asked for the fresh catch of the day and they tasted delicious! The fish that I ordered was just okay, I wouldn't get it again. I found it a little dry and it took them more than 30 minutes to make. The udon was a great end to the meal! The udon was cooked perfectly, super chewy, and the soup was nice and light. I think my favorite part of the restaurant is how friendly the staff was! They were always smiling and extremely polite. I also think it's super cool and unique that their restaurant doubles as a wine shop! Their Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc was delicious, I absolutely recommend, and to buy the bottle was only $14!

Yelp
The food is always fresh and I love Taka's specials. There service is great and the ambiance is nice & quiet.

Yelp
Would rate more like 3.5 stars. Visited for the first time at 7pm on a Thursday with no wait. It is in a strip mall type place so there is parking, but it gets busy. My partner and I ordered the calamari tempura ($10) which came with some sort of tempura veggies as well. It was okay, but probably would not order again. For rolls I ordered the dream team (tuna, salmon, hamachi, cucumber, cooked shrimp, avocado: $16.50) and the rainbow roll (eel, cucumber, avocado, tuna, salmon, hamachi, shimp: $16) I thought the rolls were tasty, but very overpriced in my opinion. The service was good though.

Yelp
Went here as part of a Japanese American Society of Georgia lunch event (they usually are not open for lunch) The owner, Taka (who is actually Japanese), is trying to do a lot with sustainability. Not using plastic to go boxes, metal straws, composting at his own house. They put out a buffet for us which included a lot of Japanese winter staples like oden. They also had a delicious Japanese style curry which was dark with umami flavors, but also slightly sweet. The restaurant is totally clean, so are the bathrooms, and the service was quite nice. Didnt get to try their sushi so I cant speak to that. But overall a good experience.

Yelp
Best sushi restaurant i've ever been to! Always a pleasure to visit! I visited for a birthday dinner in the family, and we an amazing experience. Our waitress was so kind , and they took a lot of COVID precarious. They do a temperature check, all staff wear masks, and they have a very nice socially-distanced patio, where we sat. All of the food was amazing, especially the sushi of courses. We had the Popcorn Okra and Spring Rolls as an appetizer. The egg rolls were very tasty and had a nice texture. The okra was very unique and tasty. For sushi, we had Lobster Roll, California Roll, Super Crunch Roll, and Spicy Crab Roll. All were amazing. The spicy crab roll definitely was spicy! My favorite of these 4 was the Super Crunch Roll! it was to tasty that we ordered a second order of it. The Lobster Roll also has a nice taste and texture. Overall, I highly recommend Taka for a special occasion or birthday meal at an amazing, authentic sushi stop!

Yelp
Went to this sushi spot based on a recommendation and it is within walking distance from my apartment. I was hoping to find a local neighborhood sushi place that had reliably good rolls, but it was underwhelming. We say inside and the ambience was nice enough. The selection of rolls was uninspiring and I didnt see anything on the menu that was a unique roll to the restaurant like some places have specialty rolls that they create and then you want to go there for that special roll that no one has...in any case, the offering was basic but most importantly, the rolls were just ok. Nothing to want to really go back for other than it being convenient. Know that I am not saying the place had anything bad, it is just there are so many other sushi options that I will keep trying other places rather than go back here. Just know before you go this is pretty basic sushi.

Yelp
Went in to order takeaway. First, some positives: The restaurant looks nice. The serving staff is very nice and friendly. That's the only reason for the 2 stars. I was there right at opening for dinner at 5pm. The menu looks ok although it is not anything special. I ordered sushi rolls. Now for the negatives: They add a 15% gratuity on your check even if you pick up your food yourself. I'm used to gratuities added (at some restaurants) when I sit at a table and being served but I questioned it for takeaway and the owner (I think) started arguing with me, claiming pandemic surcharges for their extra costs etc., etc., blah, blah. He said he would take the tip off (it was $10) but was visibly hostile and unpleasant about it. I did add a $5 tip because I felt bullied and honestly I was worried what they would do to my food. The owner muttered something like "Well, it's better than $0." I think the way I was treated was very unprofessional. The sushi rolls are very small and lacked flavor. The Super Crunch Roll, Copacabana Roll with some slices of dry tasteless mango on top and the Lobster Roll ($27) were surprisingly bland and the rice was dry and clearly not fresh. I ordered 4 rolls and got just two tiny blobs of wasabi (luckily I have wasabi at home in my fridge) and some soy sauce packets. They claim to make their own soy sauce but apparently they don't provide that for takeout orders, even though charging 15% gratuity! I paid $70 for the order including the $5 tip that I felt bullied into. It wasn't worth it. I was not a nice experience. They are obviously trying to make as much money as possible but this owner doesn't know the concept of offering superior food and service in order to justify premium prices. I wish I had read some of the less positive reviews beforehand. I will not go back even though it's conveniently located for me. I can not recommend Taka Sushi. It's a rip-off!

Yelp
We enjoyed the sushi however the Crispy Fried Japanese Chicken was inedible! Please do not order this! It tasted like a burnt on the outside, undercooked inside dark meat nugget. Very disappointing!

Yelp
Taka is a good spot for sushi, Teriyaki etc but I'm not convinced it's the best I've ever had. I made a reservation on open table which I highly recommend as this place gets packed! Servers are very polite and friendly, but very busy and preoccupied. Prices are reasonable for non sushi items. Chicken teriyaki bowl was $8 I believe salmon was $12. They also have a nice list of different dishes you may not try otherwise. Drinks are a heavy pour which is nice!

Yelp
Excellent sushi and sashimi, combined with great service make this a go to spot in Buckhead!

Yelp
First sushi spot in GA I've been to. It's a solid 3 star experience. I will say I have had better sushi, however, it was still really and curbed my sushi craving for the night. I had the eel avo roll and veg spring roll. The spring rolls were so fresh and piping hot I almost burned myself. I feel like it could have had more veg in there and the roll should be a bit thinner. They were decent though. The eel avo roll came with bright Red roe. It made for a great pic. It tasted pretty good. It did end up dipping it in soy sauce which I almost never do with sushi so subconsciously maybe it was missing some umph! Oh and the rolls were small.... For desert we had the tempura pound cake. It wasn't my first choice but the hubs seemed like he really wanted it. I was pleasantly surprised. There was some crisp to it and then moist and hot inside. Since its close by I may try more dishes here but feel like I should venture to find the best spot in town.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Probably the best sushi place I have been to. Everything is really fresh and seasoned well. Definitely try it! Service was good too and we loved sitting on the patio! Food was served almost immediately after order
google avatar

Ryan Y.

Yelp
Had the 10 course omakase, I really appreciated that chef Taka had all the seasonal and special fish. This was firefly squid which is only available a few weeks a year (or less), cherry salmon, and managatsuo. The rice could have used a little stronger vinegar flavor and I like a more al dente rice. Overall, decent value for the price of $85 for 8 pieces of nigiri (2 pieces each of cherry salmon, akami, otoro, and 1 piece of kinmedai and akamatsu) and six other small dishes (mostly sashimi with a lil something something on top)
google avatar

Lilly F.

Yelp
We used to love this place, but they are really starting to skimp. The rolls are tiny now. Picture a Spider Roll the size of a grocery store California roll. And they're not putting fish egg or sesame on the outside of most of the rolls anymore. It's obvious they are trying to cut costs, but they will kill off their business in the process. They are also now running a liquor store out of the main dining room and it's crowding most of the tables. Sitting outside is the only option if there's more than 6 tables, even when it's 99° and humid.

Yelp
Avocado & Tomato Salad was wonderful. Requested modification to remove eel and shrimp from Rainbow Roll. Attentive service. Grateful to be able to enjoy a sit down meal.

Yelp
Oishi desu! Fresh vegetables and lunch specials when you want to eat clean.. Daily specials mean fresh ingredients prepared the morning of. Chef Taka takes pride in his space, like the Japanese culture, attention to detail is evident in the cuisine, presentation and service. Chef Taka sources most ingredients from his own farm. So grateful to have this in my neighborhood. Ample parking, Full bar, Happy hour from 5 to 6 PM. Closed mondays.
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
This place has very fresh fish. The nigiri were better than the rolls. My favorites were the salmon and the hamachi. Uni was also fantastic. I really also enjoy the rice here as it has a nice sour flavor from the vinegar. Good for a quick pick me up!
google avatar

Harry N.

Yelp
The staff are all great people, they serve real Japanese food and I think this place is the best Japanese restaurant in Atlanta!

P T.

Yelp
Find somewhere else to spend your money. We waited 50 min for the food. We paid for our appetizers and left. No one had the courtesy to apologize for the inconvenience. We wanted to order drinks, but the waitress mentioned they don't have a bartender and she doesn't know how to mix drinks. This is ridiculous. An hour later we walked out still feeling hungry. Where is hospitality 101?

Yelp
It is always so good! Sat at the Sushi bar and had great service:) Tonight was my 26tb Anniversary and I had a fabulous dinner! Started with hamachi appetizer, my husband and I each had a ginger salad and then cucumber no rice spicy tuna roll, tuna-salmon-octopus nigiri and yakatori chicken. So fab! We were given a delicious chocolate mouse for anniversary gift:)

Yelp
I might give this one 3.5 stars but for going to round down to 3. My first experience at Taka was a bit disappointing for me, as I had been eagerly reading reviews from when it first opened as well as stalking their (curious) social media. I invited a client for lunch and of course hoped for the best, but what we got was mediocre - with some highlights. The new Taka is located in the large strip mall at 4600 Roswell Rd, anchored by Sprouts on one end and CVS on the other. It's a large complex with a lot of retail and some residential; The Collection apartments are located in the back. Newly built and obviously designed to be a mixed use complex, it's highly walkable but there's hardly any parking. I was nearly frantic trying to find a spot. (Obviously this is not Taka's fault and I definitely don't blame them, just pointing it out!) We were seated right away; the OpenTable reservation I made was unnecessary. There's some really nice outdoor seating areas, a smaller dining room and the sushi bar so lots of room to go around. Service was unremarkable. Our waitress was very friendly but disappeared after taking our order. We split: - Seaweed Salad ($5): five bucks seems a little excessive for this but whatever. The portion was large and the quality was higher than I was expecting when I ordered it. Would order again! - Grilled Brussels Sprouts ($7.70): I hate to say it but these were completely disappointing... I didn't go back for a second bite. The sprouts were absolutely swimming in black pepper, rendering them inedible. We didn't send them back as we had so many other items to munch on instead, but probably should have if just to alert the kitchen. - Japanese-style Gyoza Dumpling ($7.50): again, wow at this pricing... $1.25 per dumpling just seems so out of line with other restaurants in the area...but I'm wondering if they're all this expensive and I'm just crazy?! [EDIT: OK there are some comparable places price-wise. But damn.] - CNN Roll ($15; spicy tuna roll topped with sliced red tuna): named for the red-on-red CNN logo colors. Standard and just OK. - Levolor Roll ($9.70; tuna, avocado and mango roll topped with sliced cucumbers): this is the kind of roll I was hoping for with my Taka visit! Creative, original, texturally complex, tasty AF. YUM. Definitely recommend this one! - Rainbow Roll ($15.70; eel, cucumber and avocado roll topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, and avocado): another standard. Once again, just OK. - Eel & Avocado Roll ($9.70; eel, cucumber and avocado topped with a mountain of red tobiko): this one had the potential to just be another standard sushi roll but the mass of tasty, quality tobiko topping the eel roll pushed it over the edge. Really yummy, and I was impressed with the texture! It was also just beautiful. - Lobster Tempura Roll ($18; lobster tempura with asparagus, mayo and masago wrapped with soy bean sheets): another disappointment. For nearly $20, I expected this one to blow me away but from both a flavor and texture standpoint it was kind of blah. All in all, I had hoped for a better meal at these prices. I could tell the ingredient quality was quite high, and maybe I just ordered all wrong, but when looking at the meal as a whole there were just as many misses as there were hits. I was impressed enough by the items we liked (seaweed salad, Levolor Roll, Eel & Avocado Roll) that I'd come back to try some other items, but not if I was paying.

Yelp
Grat Sushi at the neighborhood. Very friendly and quick service. Menu is conventional Japanese. The food is nicely prepared and delicious. During the week lunch options are really good and very reasonable. Highly recommend bento box for lunch.

Yelp
You won't find better sushi in Atlanta. Taka is a master chef and keeps only top notch fish in his restaurant. The staff is amazing and attentive. My wife and I ONLY eat sushi at Sushi Taka. Every aspect of the meal is so amazing, we won't accept any substitute.

Morgan M.

Yelp
We used to love this place but the service has become unbearably slow. As others noted, the rolls have gotten smaller as well. They also seem to auto-tip all meals so make sure you're paying attention unless you want to give a double tip.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
So this was unlike any sushi--or really any restaurant--experience I've ever had. This was our first time there and we went with someone who knew Taka. She just had him surprise us with different things. Things we probably wouldn't have ordered on our own. We loved almost all of it! Nothing was gross, nothing was poorly prepared. All of it was prepared with pride and you could tell Taka put thought into it. The staff was friendly and SUPER attentive. We will definitely come again!
google avatar

Kai C.

Yelp
Food was good. However, when you try to squeeze dollars out of me, I get really annoyed. When we received our bill, a salad was $2.50 (where it is usually free at other Japanese restaurants) and the to go box for a take out is $1. Seriously? I will not go back just because of these charges.
google avatar

Filip M.

Yelp
Came here because we were looking for something quick, easy, and GOOD. We also wanted to break away from our normal sushi spots, and with the solid reviews we figured why nMan this place did not disappoint. Super fresh rolls and high quality ingredients. The miso soup and appetizers were spot on. Service was above and beyond friendly. Definitely worth coming back.

Yelp
I first followed Taka on Instagram a few months ago because I enjoyed the chef's humor, and I finally had the opportunity to dine here. The anticipation was killing me because there's very few truly good sushi restaurants in the city, and now Taka is one of my two favorite sushi restaurants in Atlanta. Before we came in, I called ahead to see what specials and featured fish. To my surprise, Taka was offering four sashimi specials the Friday night we went - live scallop, hamachi tiradito, tuna carpaccio, and a salmon-mango special. We opted for the live scallop because it is so rare to find a restaurant serving it. It was perfectly paired with a dab of avocado and lime. For our other starter, we opted for the Uni Zukushi - four samples of uni atop ika, ama-ebi, hotate, and otoro accompanied by pickled wasabi. Frankly, this blew me away! We absolutely loved it because we love uni, and the chef is so generous. Finally, we ended the meal with the sashimi dinner plate, which came with an assortment of chef's choice fish, ships leaves, and lemon slices - so much better than the typical sampler. All of the ingredients the chef uses - even down to the ginger salad - are of extremely high quality. I think he grows some of his own produce and also gets fresh whole fish that he breaks down on site. Interesting, they sell some of this "sushi grade" fish in small blocks for customer at home use, which I have been searching for a while. The chef certainly knows how to pair unexpected flavor profiles that you don't see anywhere else in the city, and his passion for his craft shines through his food. We will definitely be coming here more often!

Yelp
Was excited to be able to try the Bento Box for lunch when off work on a weekday. Had to get it to go - so no soup or salad on the side included apparently. The Katsu chicken was very tasty and good, but alas, only 3 small pieces (the size of my little finger!). The udon noodles were tasty but the sauce was very watery and barely of taste. The small greenery salad portion in the box (the size of a quarter), was unidentifiable and not liked, so I had to pass on it. The 2 slices of roll were good (and probably what I should have gotten anyway). And,... well,... that's all there was to it, basically a noodle dish. My wife got the Sushi Sashimi Combo, and though the few pieces were tasty and fresh, for $21 it just wasn't enough. After the $40 bill (btw- they added their own $5.33 gratuity on a take-out!), and still being hungry, I must say that the only memorable thing about this meal was the frozen ice pack at the bottom of the to-go bag! I probably should return to try their good looking rolls, but after this I'm just not so sure.

Yelp
Having tried almost all the restaurants in Gateway Shopping Center I wanted to check Taka off my list. Parking can be a challenge in the sense that this place is always packed and sometimes you have to park several spots away or on the other side of the parking lot ha ha, but seriously I've never not found a spot here. I came around 7pm and the place was packed but I was seated right away. I would suggest getting a table in the center of the restaurant to have a little more elbow room and not feel like you're a part of your neighbors conversation the entire dinner. The tables along the wall are extremely close. I ordered a Sapporo draft beer and it was a little flat, definitely had been tapped too long, I would recommend bottled beer in the future. The Alaskan Special Roll - Crab Meat Mix with Cucumber / Sliced Salmon was fresh and I enjoyed it. The restaurant itself was really loud as far as background noise so don't expect a quiet intimate dinner.

Yelp
My Favorite Japanese Sushi house!!! Authentic Japanese sushi restaurant. Love the creative dishes made by TAKA. Fish is always fresh and service is great.

Yelp
Taka was our neighborhood date night spot for decades before real estate development uprooted He and his wonderful team. The new Taka on the border of Buckhead and Sandy Springs is a beautiful sushi oasis that we always love to visit. Our entire family loves His crave-able staples as well as his innovative specials. Whether it's the fresh okra tuna app or unique Uni creations, or the soba noodles and CNN roll, or lobster roll or Brussels. Taka and his team are wonderful and his patio is perfect for our current fall weather!

Yelp
Sushi is amazing! They don't overload the rolls with too much rice. They changed locations and can't sell alcohol but two glasses of wine is complimentary with your meal. For the most part, this is my second visit for Taka Sushi and Passion. The first was at their original location and the second was at their temporary location. Although I'm a fan of this restaurant, I can't say that their temporary location will have me coming back anytime soon. I'll wait until they return back to their original place. Lack of the ability to order any alcohol was a bit of a downer.

Yelp
The sushi is so fresh here. I eat a lot of sushi and this place has very high quality food. We had seaweed salad, spicy tuna rolls, tuna tartar rolls, eel avocado, and some pieces.,excellent service. Easy parking. Solid COVID practices in place.

Yelp
Best sushi in Atlanta every single time. Freshest fish and huge variety of rolls. So good and a great deal.

Yelp
Let's talk about Taka. My recent visit set the bar so high that I don't want to eat sushi in Atlanta for the fear of diminishing the memory I have of my dinner at Taka. So talk about fantastic. My girlfriend called ahead to see what specials the chef was offering the night we went, and when she heard they had live scallop, she made the reservation faster than I could respond. I really like the fact that the Chef has multiple - four on the night we went - sashimi specials as well as a variety of feature fish depending on the availability and freshness of the particular day. We opted mainly for sashimi courses: the live scallop special, uni presented four ways, and a sashimi dinner. Absolutely everything that we had was fresh. Not only was it fresh, but you could tell the Chef presented the fish in a meaningful manner with great pairings. I can't speak on the cooked offerings because we didn't have any. However, we saw the executive chef continuously working at the sushi bar as well as in the kitchen, so that's always a good indication that a Chef has quality control over everything going out to his diners. I think this is one of the unsuspecting sushi restaurants, and I cannot believe that it took me so long to get over here. Definitely give it a try and call ahead for a preview of what's in store.

Yelp
Best sushi I have ever had. Lobster roll is great. The customer service is great and the sushi is consistently delicious. I really think they should have 5 stars. I like this a lot more than Umi and other higher ranked sushi Atlanta spots.

Yelp
We made a reservation at the counter on open table, based on yelp reviews. We always sit at the counter when we eat sushi. We arrived and were told the counter was already reserved. I explained I had made a reservation they said sorry. Well customer service to me is just as important as the food. There is many more options in the area We won't be back.

Yelp
We arrived about 5mins before they opened and they let us in. Very good service. She explained the menu and answered our questions. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and it was soooo good. Creamy broth, chewy noodles, pork, egg, onions, seaweed--everything you need in a ramen. I do wish there'd been more pork, though. There were just two small pieces. My stepdad didn't like his teriyaki chicken very much. He says he didn't like the texture. But he finished the whole plate. My mom got the chicken bento box and loved it too. I'll definitely be back to try their sushi.

Yelp
Tried to come here over the weekend. We had a reservation for a Saturday night, timed so we could make our 9:15pm. After arriving promptly at 7:15pm, we waited around the front desk behind a line of two parties waiting to be seated. The first party gave up and left. A very unhappy table of five were seated in front of us, staring grumpily at their menus. The vibe did not look good. The servers were obviously very busy with the occupied tables. So we stood at the front for around 15 minutes before giving up. We might try again later, but with so many options for sushi, I doubt it.
