My family and I drove out to Oregon from Vancouver for the weekend and had an incredible time at Takara Sushi. The food was fresh and very flavourful. The chef and staff were also very welcoming and made us feel like family. I’d highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you’re ever looking for good sushi in Portland.

Google
This was the best sushi I've had outside of Japan. The first was incredibly fresh, the drinks were delicious, and the service was exceptional. We loved how excited about the food all of the staff were. You could tell that it was made with love and pride for their craft. 10/10 would recommend. We will definitely be back!

Google
I wanted some sushi for my birthday and I’m so glad this is the place I chose! The staff was really friendly and sat us in a lovely window seat. The chairs were really cute and comfortable. Love the atmosphere and design. Very chill. The sake was delicious. Best miso I’ve had in Portland. The fish was fresh and prepared expertly. The gyoza was great too! The yellowtail sashimi was so tender. I was really happy with my meal. We’ll be back for another date night sometime soon.

Google
Best sushi in town. Located in the pearl district right by the waterfront. It has nice views and excellent customer service. The sushi tastes fresh and delicious. Warm atmosphere definitely returning here.

Google
This is the BEST SUSHI in town hands down. I am so proud to say that I live down the block from this GEM 💎. The staff is beyond welcoming and so friendly. My first day at the place they opened the restaurant even though it was closed and sat us down to what I believe is the BEST SUSHI IN PORTLAND. Not only is their love for the customers amazing but they have the product to back it up. THE FOOD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. Whoever they get their fish from deserves an award. Some of the most fresh seafood I’ve tried in a long time. The presentation of the food is beyond amazing and the QUALITY IS A1. Highly recommend this place for sure and I’ll be back often.

Google
I had an absolutely incredible dining experience at Takara Sushi! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The sushi here is nothing short of spectacular—each piece is crafted with the utmost care, using the freshest ingredients available. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or just looking to try something new, Takara Sushi is an absolute must-visit. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their amazing offerings!

Google
This is a great sushi restuarant on the edge of downtown Portland. Its in a quiet area on the water. The sushi was delicious. I got the Takara Tower which is great if you love salmon. There are also so many specialty rolls to choose from too. They also offer a variety of sake and make mixed drinks as well!!!

Google
We had an amazing time at Takara Sushi! Coming from Houston, we were craving some quality sushi and our expectations were more than met. Loan gave us some amazing recommendations such as a spicy scallop hand roll which contains fresh scallops straight from Japan! Prices were extremely reasonable and we left with happy tummies and wallets. Definitely check out if you’re in the area! We will be coming back next time we’re in Portland.

Yelp
Wonderful! Hands down best sushi in Portland. Fresh everything, great owners who cater to their guests. Will be back again and again.

Yelp
Presentation was amazing and so was the service. She was super friendly and didn't constantly come over but she definitely made sure we had everything we needed and was enjoying the meal. The place was beautiful with accents of Vietnamese traditional decoration. If you get the window seat it'll be as if you're dining on the waters. The food was pretty good. A bit heavy on the rice for my liking but that's just my personal opinion. Not the freshest fish I've had but it's definitely not fishy at all and the cut for nigiri is thicker than most restaurants. The attention for detail for plating was amazing. Especially with the little gold flake they added. Tastes like nothing but is so instagramable.

Yelp
Cozy feels neighborhood joint with a tinge of random decor. Sushi fresh and sauces on the rolls not overly done. Good rice texture. Surprisingly a nice selection of monk-made beer from Mount Angel; not the best pairing but good craft in bottles. Appearing to be a hangout for the walking locals.

Yelp
Beware of the bait and switch! I arrived for lunch today around 1pm- they said they were out of fish and rice! Seemed strange for a sushi place and I should have left, but she said I could order kitchen food and I was cold and hungry- from traveling all morning! Once I sat- she said they actually had salmon and scallops- great- my 2 favorites! I ordered a drink, miso soup, salmon and scallop sushi and seaweed salad! She said they didn't have miso soup, but could bring udon- okay- I'll try it! The fish was tasty, seaweed salad standard, udon soup nothing to write home about! She brings the check- the $3 miso soup has turned into $23 udon soup with no comment or approval from me, and the scallop and salmon sashimi, turned into to $40 omakase lunch!! It was the complete bait and switch! Although the food was fine- this is completely dishonest!! I'm super disappointed! After paying the bill, I left and will never go back!

Yelp
I love this new family-owned sushi joint! They specialize in uni, toro and have fresh oysters constantly shipped from Japan. We tried the sunomono and karaage for appetizers, hamachi heaven, amber roll and toro lover. All the dishes were so fresh! The staff and chefs here are so friendly and are ready to guide you through your sushi journey! The restaurant is also by the water, which makes it the ideal spot for a nice meal out.

Yelp
Friendly service, cute music, nice not too bright ambiance perfect for date night or casual dinner with friends

Yelp
I went here because of all the 5 stars. This place is horrible. It's overpriced. Sashimi quality is mediocre. Service is barely existent. It's slow and we barely saw our server considering there was only 1 other party in the restaurant. Who puts tea leaves in a glass of cold water to make ice tea? Everyone knows that tea leaves must steep in hot water, then you add ice. That's how you make ice tea. It's like putting coffee grounds in ice water to make ice coffee. The pictures on the menu are drastically different than what we got. It's called bait and switch. We didn't get nearly the quantity nor the thickness of sashimi that we saw in the picture. 3 sashimi slices equates to one slice in the picture and other restaurants.

Yelp
Absolutely recommend this place... first I thought maybe with the minimum out reviews, I was questionable... but this was the best decision out of doubt! Amazing service, amazing recommendations, and then the food itself exceeded expectation from a lot of travels. I'll put this as my top three worldwide. The ambience was very close and made you feel just at home.

Yelp
We came back for another omakase experience and the wonderful team at Takara Sushi did not disappoint. From the premium cuts of tuna and uni, to rare seasonal fish often flown in directly from Japan and prepared the same day, the quality is evident in every bite. Chef's Long creativity and attention to detail is a show in itself. After we took our last bite of sashimi, Chef took us on an unexpected Kobe beef course with tasty nigiri as the opening act while he prepared the main event - an OMG-induced Kobe Cubes plate. It's not something we get to indulge in every day, and our wallet thanks us for that

Yelp
The food here was so delicious and the staff was super friendly. We ordered the karaage (the sauce it came with was incredible), the Sea Cove, and The Titan specialty rolls. You could just tell this was a family-owned spot that cared about the quality of the experience.

Yelp
Family owned sushi joint right off Naito. The food tasted fresh and and the service was super friendly. I was the only one there at the time, so I was able to strike up a conversation with the chef at the bar. He is very knowledgeable about food and food preparation, not just sushi. I had the chirashi bowl and an assortment of single nigiri. Everything tasted amazing and definitely hit the spot for my craving. Price is on par with the market at this time. I highly encourage folks to find and try this place out as it's a hidden gem at the moment. I am looking forward to trying this place out again.

Yelp
The sushi quality is very high and the service is excellent as well. I am always greeted with a warm welcome. Kitchen staff and servers are very competent.

Yelp
Takara is a new sushi joint here in Portland! Such a cute area and a beautifully decorated restaurant. I celebrated a birthday here and the FOOD WAS AMAZINGGG!!! I personally had the takara tower, the toro lover, the chirashi bowl, and my friends had so many more rolls. The fish was fresh, FRESH. Generous serving and everything was well priced. The toro was melt in your mouth even to the sushi rice itself. They seated 20 people, and were quick and efficient in getting our orders and getting them out. They were super on it the whole time, accommodating to all my friends allergies as well. This place is a GEM! And the owners and all the staff are genuinely the most amazing people. I hope this restaurant continues to grow and get more attention. Super excited to come back
google avatar

Kara R.

Yelp
We had such a fun time here we ended up going back a week later! The owner was so kind- the sake bottle we wanted was sold out so she did a free sake tasting for us to help us choose another one. The scallop nigiri was one of the best I've had and at an amazing price point. The titan roll was also delicious. The only thing I wish is that they had more seats where you could see the river, but otherwise a wonderful experience and highly recommend supporting this new restaurant!!
google avatar

Anita S.

Yelp
Definitely a treasure to eat here. I never thought I would enjoy raw scallops or hamachi and toro but all 3 were incredible. We are more of the spicy tuna beginner sushi eaters but we've graduated to the next level after this meal. Will definitely be back! The service was excellent and the owner was super friendly.

Elizabeth X.

Yelp
Its sashimi is the best in Portland! Fresh and beautiful arrangement. The owner is very friendly and thoughtful. The store is very beautiful next to a big water pond next to the river, great place to have lunch or dinner.

Sasha P.

Yelp
We sat up at the bar in front of the chefs and had a wonderful time. The chefs and server were super nice. The fish quality and the sake were fantastic. Our tab was a little spendy but it was honestly so worth it. The whole place was also super cute
google avatar

Yelp
Ate here today and loved the food. The salmon belly sashimi was my favorite order tonight, but everything was fresh and tasty! Prices were reasonable as well. Great customer service to top it off, and they also do karaoke? will definitely be back!

Yelp
Food was divine and the service was great! Waiters and waitresses were very attentive and on point!

Yelp
What a lovely transformation Tamara is! It's now hip yet warm and cozy--quiet enough to have real conversations. The menu is limited, but the sushi was tasty--we tried a variety of rolls and enjoyed all of them. The gyoza were serviceable only, but they're a reasonable option for those who don't eat raw fish (like one in our party). Service was delightful, truly. I hope Takara gains enough of a following to stay in business. It's nice to have them in the neighborhood!

K F.

Yelp
We've been here several times and enjoy Tamara for several reasons! 1.The place is charming and clean 2. The staff is warm, proud, caring and helpful! 3. Despite not having an oven, they know their food and surely know how to serve creative food and sushi in a limited space. The price is a bit high, but the freshness and quality is top notch! We live in the Pearl and love the proximity to our condo. so we love the walk and the staff and the food! We tried about 10 different items and have been very pleased with everything! Congrats in making this such a nice restaurant in the Pearl!

Yelp
The seared king salmon with the Japanese mayo was an unexpected out of body experience. Kevin took it upon himself to have a friend and I try it just off of a small conversation. This is my fourth time at this restaurant and now I am completely locked in as a regular. 10 out of 10, and the karaage is also amazing.
google avatar

Megan O.

Yelp
Excellent service and sushi. Highly recommend. The price was absolutely reasonable and the food was high quality.

stacie o.

Yelp
The best sushi! So incredibly good. Service was fantastic too. We will definitely be back

Angela T.

Yelp
We wanted to check this place out after seeing all the great reviews online and it was excellent!!!! The owner made us feel so welcome and the quality of the sushi was superb. Everything we ordered was great. We got several nigiri which were very well priced and delicious. The Hamachi heaven was beautiful and our favorite. Even the humble sunomono salad stood out for its bright, fresh preparation. The live orchids on each table let you know this place is one that comes from the heart. Takara has only been open 6 weeks so it's easy to grab a seat but I'd expect them to start being quite popular once word spreads.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Nice people. Window seats with a beautiful view of the river. Kind and friendly staff. The food was wonderful
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Sushi was fresh, my favorite was the sea cove. Miso soup had a lot of flavor, and the workers there are really nice and would check in and be attentive to make sure we were doing okay. It is a small area but they space out the tables really well.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
The little gem has charm, energy and great sushi. A wonderful family owned business and the owners are gracious hosts and passionate about serving high quality food and making guests feel welcomed. We hope to become regular guests of Takara Sushi.
google avatar

Justin D.

Yelp
The food here was great. I had the Salmon belly and it was so fresh and delicious! Their karage was also really good too and their selection of rolls was great. The staff were super friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere was amazing and they created a great environment to be in
google avatar

Sherwin R.

Yelp
Great place to have a good time with friends! Great staff and awesome service. They even offered our party to hang and sing karaoke till close! Looking to definitely hangout here again for dinner.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Chill energy. Sushi executed well. Definitely a place for great quality food with an elegant feel.

Yelp
Ordered for pick up, great fresh sushi! They were very nice and made my order quickly. I ordered the Philly roll, Spicy salmon roll, and Spicy tuna roll they were all so good I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Karla C.

Yelp
Delicious sushi! Sea Cove was what I ordered along with my family getting The Titan platter. Finished all of it in a couple of minutes! Loan is one of the sweetest women and I enjoyed our time a lot more with her helping us out! It's chilly, and the restaurant is decorated nicely. It's a little pricey, so get ready to spend quite a bit.
google avatar

Thomas J.

Yelp
just always leave here amazed by the quality & service. no pics of the monkfish liver w/ shaved dorado so i'm sorry but the smokey flavor of the shavings melted perfectly with the ponzu sauce and it just was a spectacular dish. gotta go uni as chef only brings top shelf. take a long lunch, pour a sake and know you are at your new Spot
google avatar

Frankie D.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Very reasonably priced and the nigiri was incredibly fresh. The hamachi nigiri was absolutely amazing and our server was very attentive! Will definitely be back.

Andrew T.

Yelp
The host along with the chefs make the environment super enjoyable and happy. The food is on par with the service! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for quality over quantity.

Lori B.

Yelp
Fresh and creative food and fabulous cocktails. Staff was attentive and the service was 5 star.

Ian J.

Yelp
First time in Portland, found this place because it was rated good and by my hotel. It was beyond what I expected! The sushi was amazing, the staff were great! Loved it! Some of the best sushi I have ever had!

Shawheen P.

Yelp
Great family running the place. Good sushi and atmosphere. Highly recommend. Service is great.

David K.

Yelp
Newly opened and already turning out some amazing food! All the fish was incredibly fresh, the service was on-point and the casual environment is very welcoming. The uni/salmon combo was exceptional. The hamachi sashimi was so buttery. Highly recommend.

Stacie W.

Yelp
My husband, daughter and I just had lunch at Tamara Sushi today. I can not say enough good things about it. The sushi was incredible and Loan (owner) made you feel like one of the family! She had wonderful recommendations and really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great meal and experience. We will definitely be back!!!

Evan D.

Yelp
What can I say, but wow! Everything from the staff, to the sushi was amazing. I really love that this is a family owned business. The owners are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. They were so kind and made me feel welcome. They have done so well with this place! The sushi is high quality and you can just tell they put a lot of effort into what they make. I can't wait to go back and try it again.
