Strolling through the floor with the desserts and treats is like visiting a dessert museum. 🤤 Every item is a beautiful work of art that doesn’t seem like real food, but always end up tasting as good as it looks. There are so many shops. It’s hard to pick favorites. Each purchase is treated and packaged with care. Come here to buy gifts, treating yourself, or even just a feast your eyes. This is an awesome place.

Sometime to get to heaven you need to go down (one floor to B1)! Best food in Japan! The Michelin 3 star food hall.

I went to Takashimaya to kill time with my toddler before meeting friends. The 9th floor is all kids stuff and has a small area of toys kids can fiddle with for 20-30 minutes. There is also a nice rest area by the changing tables, breastfeeding room. They had a plethora of types of high chairs you could use, microwaves, hot water, vending machines with kid options and garbage cans by the little feeding corner. There were also many strollers for mall use only. On the 12th floor is Moana cafe which has a kids pancake set and next door is Tsubaki-ya which has good cake sets for meeting mom friends. The B1 also has some bread and cake places and small seating areas. Besides their being 12 elevators in this mall, waiting is always a pain. The priority elevators are respected though, which is nice. The bathrooms are also all wonderful.

If you are from Australia , this place reminds me of David Jones. Its almost like upper market shopping center. However they really do have quality product and food variety. Dont miss this place if you can.

This time when I got there, it just so happened to be the strawberry season and also sweet tomato. I can't believe how sweet and umami strawberry flavor and the tomato is just as sweet. It's a must buy when they are in the season. It is one of the better colossal department store in Shinjuku. You could pretty much find anything you need at the store and they also have a supermarket downstairs in addition to all the food stations. I always come to their supermarket to get items that I need when I'm staying in the hotel. If you are in Shinjuku City or near the Shinjuku main train station. You can access the department store via the bus or Subway. If you're taking the bus, just hop on bus number 86. Make sure you're going the right direction, you need to get off at Sendagaya-Gochome. Takashimaya is right across from you. If you're taking the subway, you can access via F13 (Brown color), M09 (Red Color), or S02 (Green color). After you exit the subway car, you need to look for exit E8. Once you exit E8, you will see Takashimaya in front of you.

This was my first visit to Takashimaya Shinjuku, and I was truly impressed by the overall experience. The department store is spacious, beautifully designed, and very easy to navigate. Each floor offers a wide variety of high-quality brands and products, from fashion and cosmetics to food and gifts. I visited with my friends and went directly to the Tommy Hilfiger store to purchase a bag I had selected online. The entire process was smooth, and the staff were extremely polite and welcoming. It was a pleasant surprise when a staff member noticed I was already using a Tommy Hilfiger bag and kindly thanked me for being a loyal customer—it added a personal touch to my experience. The atmosphere of Takashimaya is elegant yet comfortable, and the service across the store felt professional and warm. I’m really glad I finally got the chance to visit, and I’ll definitely be back again.

Nice department store with tons of floors and shopping options. The restaurants at the top are a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Had one of our best meals there!

Yelp
My parents went crazy here on the food. For me, I like looking at all the home stuff. There's always a gadget that I seems interesting to me and it's curious to see what brands they consider "worthy to be on display" (problem is that I usually have it already :-). Food wise, I usually blow 20000 yen if not more (gift wise). Walking away to be eaten that day? 3000 yen easy. I'm a sucker for the persimmon, cream puff and jelly type desserts.

Yelp
I found this store on my run while in staying in Tokyo for a few weeks a while back. From the outside it looks like any other building, but inside it's floor to floor of specialize items on each floor. If I recall it was on the lower floors that the food was all located. The display of food is eye candy for sure. The sandwiches are all neatly displayed. I recall the colorful pyramid of KitKats. The beautifully curated cantaloupes from $20 and up a melon and perfect grapes that are also anywhere between $15 and up a bunch. They fruit is all made to be given as gifts. The flavor of the fruit will be like nothing else you have ever consumed in your life before. If you come to Tokyo, do pay a visit to this department store and be sure to come with an empty stomach. You will a bounty and bevy of food suitable to consume. The sandwiches and bento boxes of food are reasonably priced. You can tell why they say that in Japan the locals eat with their eyes. It's so true. The roof of the building has tables and areas to eat.

Yelp
If you're interested in an analysis of the fashion portion of the department store, this review will prove useless for you. I went straight to the basement of this store, right to the food hall. The food hall - epicness (which isn't a word). It's "only" one floor but it's amazing. The food selection is enormous and the visuals: dizzying. There are bento boxes abound, along with all sorts of Japanese food (including boxes of sushi). The hall has western food, other Asian food, desserts, pastries, produce, imported foods, etc. I spent nearly two hours on the that floor just admiring the sights. I grabbed a couple of desserts here and the prices seemed reasonable for individual small cakes ($5-7). I also tried a taiyaki and it was fresh and delicious. The only thing I had a less-than-wonderful experience was Maison Kayser. While I liked some of the baked goods there, such as their kouign amann, the croissant was disappointing. Also, I went to the top floors and did go to one of the restaurants for lunch (a tonkotsu place). The selection of restaurants is formulaic with most Japanese restaurants (a western place, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese spots that have specialties). However, all of them looked inviting. If you don't want to eat out but don't want to pay for room service if you're at a hotel, just grab a meal, drink, and dessert here and bring it back. You'll just have difficulty deciding what you want. Trust me.

Yelp
It's about the food. Go to the food section in the basement floors exactly at opening time when the store opens it's doors. I remembered it like it was yesterday. Me and my wife felt like Royalty coming in, everyone bowed to us like we were king and queen, and there was even music playing, like one of those music when you see the royalties of England in a parade. Yes. Not lying. It was even like this when we went to the Takashimaya in Dotonbori in Osaka. Anyway, we thought that was pretty cool. Everyone is so respectful, everything looks so delicious from even the produce, to sushi, to salads, to bentos, and even yes the best desserts. It seems like the food in Japan is 2x-10x better than back home. It's like Art. And the best thing we know about Yelp is scoping out food, and lemme tell you, Japan knows it's food and they take pride in providing you great service. The only drawback to this place is that food section doesn't have chairs and tables to sit down when you buy your food like a food court. It's more of a take out or take away kind of thing. Although they do have restaurants where you actually can sit and eat on it's top floor such as Katsukura, which we ate at and it's katsu was one of the best katsu I've ever had. Enjoy!

Yelp
I really regret not being more hungry when we came here because the basement level food hall is just one of the best places to literally eat ALL THE THINGS. There is everything. Sushi, tempura, desserts, baked goods, snacks, kit kats, OMURICE (which is what we ultimately ended up splitting). There's only space for 4 people to sit for an omelette rice but as everyone is quick to eat and go, we didn't wait very long. A perfect omelette stuffed with rice, topped with ketchup next to a small salad and fried crab claw - it was seriously the perfect snack to tide us over to dinner. Just like I said -- make sure you go hungry to take full advantage of the dining options.

Yelp
This is going to sound crazy but one of the best places to eat in Tokyo is the High End Food Court in the Basement of Takashimaya Times Square. The mall itself is just about every high end name brand store there is, Gucci, Dolce, Louis, Jimmy Choo, Roberto Cavalli, and all the rest. But the best part is the basement. To call it a food paradise is even an understatement. The amount of high quality desserts, sushi, and every type of food imaginable blew my mind. Vendor on top of vendor, making high quality, mostly Japanese cuisine. We started with one bakery vendor that had a cinnamon bun and a Japanese Curry Filled Donut. Then we ordered maguro nigiri and Unagi nigiri. Finally we finished with another vendor who made all things fried, tonkatsu and fried shrimp. Everything was delicious. A bad quality food vendor would not make it in this Food Court. It would be like Old Navy opening a store in this mall, it just would not fit in. Next on my hit list in the Takashimaya Food Court is the gyoza and many more photos to be added to this yelp review.

Yelp
A wonderful World of Fashion Style and Food Art . On the main Floor Balanciaga and on Basement the Art of Food . It's a must in Tokio

Yelp
Man, if only I had read some of the reviews beforehand. Still, it was one of the highlights of our day. We stopped by Takashima to check out the depachika (basement level food hall) on the recommendation of a friend of a friend. What a treat! Truly a feast for your eyes and stomach. If you love food, you will be happy. If you are traveling with people who are picky or have different food preferences, you will be happy. If you love desserts, don't miss the back of the hall...you will be very happy! The depachika has a huge variety of food, from tempura and bentos to wagyu beef and expensive fine fruits. Korean and Chinese food too. Additional floors include clothing, accesories, restaurants and novelty items. All will accept credit cards (which will show up as the main department's name on your statement regardless of what store you used it at). Apparently you can get a discount card if you are from another country, and apparently there is a Kit Kat outlet in the mall. Next time I will try to track down both. Definitely recommend and definitely will return!

Yelp
Takashimaya department store in Shinjuku is massive store full of designer goods, and just about anything you could imagine. But my favorite floor is B1, the food basement. They sell everything from giant grapes, plates of fugu sashimi, senbei, beautiful marbled meat, and everyday grocery items. I could spend an entire day here!
google avatar

Kenneth B.

Yelp
This review is for the B2 level food area - great selection of delicious looking prepared foods and loads of sweets, crackers, cakes, etc. This includes a Godiva stand with both chocolates and ice cream, and a Kit-Kat outlet with deluxe flavors. Yum!

Yelp
14 floors of galore! Not student friendly, since it's geared towards the upper class and middle-age women. (A bajillion floors dedicated to women makeup, shoes, clothes and handbags...) It's a bit further of a walk from the Shinjuku station (depending where you get off) but the 14th floor has an amazing view! Random note: 14th floor women's restroom has a phenomenal skyscraper view!! PS: food here is also delicious but pricey. Check it out if you feel like treating yourself!

Yelp
What I love about Japans department stores is that my wife can go crazy shopping, while I go to the basement and enjoy the real reason why I accompany her to the department stores - food. The food here is great and you will easily spend whatever money you have on your own meal and lots of goodies to be eaten later lol.

Yelp
It could be another stop for family's shopping For the sophisticated you, you may want go to the opposite side of NewoMan instead.

Yelp
Here's what you need to know: Very cool store, but pricey. Excellent service and luxury brand selections. Good food court and dining options. He cookware selection is OUTSTANDING. It's attached to the Tokyu Hands store (more affordable option). We spent some time one afternoon and then again the following evening shopping and dining at Takashimaya. It really is a charming store with all the high end, luxury brands on offer. The service is extremely friendly and courteous. The elevators take a long time, especially when you have a child stroller with you, but that's true of the entire Tokyo Metro area, so I can't hold that against this store. There are multiple food courts: the 13th floor is more formal upscale dining. and the basement level offers a terrific casual selection. Overall, this store maintains excellent quality and is a favorite for tourists and locals alike.

Yelp
Large department store. Staff is friendly and there is plenty of shopping options. I am not sure but I got the sense the little areas are independent of each other as each section seemed to have a different style or vibe. Plenty of food options on the top 2 floors. I got a free discount card at The Hello Kitty store which I gave away to one of my Hello Kitty fan friend's. It was a unique one of kind gift.
google avatar

KatsuCat D.

Yelp
Tip: Those not from Japan, can get a 5% off your shopping hello kitty themed shopping card to use. Go to the 11th floor and ask the info desk. You can keep this card (though it expires in a month).

Yelp
You can pretty much say this about every Japanese department store - here you can find clothes and other household items with relatively high price tags. What's good about this place is that it has a food court with several decent restaurants on the top floor (again, not uncommon in Asia) - but really it's all about the proximity to Shinjuku station that makes this place convenient. Personally I didn't really find anything of note I was dying to buy here, but it's still a good place to check out items and do a little price comparisons. Again, what's nice about this place is that it's close to Shinjuku station. I suppose if you're in the area and need a last minute gift this isn't a bad place to hit up. But there's so much to look at in the area ... so keep that in mind

Yelp
Having a VERY NICE shopping experience in the store exspecially BLUE LABEL & BLACK LABEL counter. All staff are very nice and passion and able to communication in many types foreign language , feel like family. sure will visit again next time.

Mishi C.

Yelp
This is a great department store located in the heart of Shinjuku. We stayed at the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku which is very closed to this department store. If you are a foreigner don't forget to get your 5% off card from the Duty Free store at 11F. I was able to get my compact hot plate with 5% discount and also tax free. It is a huge department stores that has almost everything. It is combined with Tokyo Hand which offers a large selection from cosmetic and electronic. They also sell grocery at the B2 floor along with great selection of prepared food.. They offer to give you back your tax at 11F, but they do charge for a fee when they give you back the tax (cash) Definitely check out this place if you love to shop!
google avatar

Yelp
Love this department store! It has everything from postcards to food. Go to the basement in B1, where you can find grocery stores for snacks and even anything to satisfy your cravings. I got some strawberry mochi there and it was sooo good!! So chewy and I love the japanese strawberries since they are so flavorful. I even got my postcards there in the upper levels. The bathrooms are very spacious and worth seeing to see the city view as well.

Yelp
Super-fun store with lots of local items and typical popular fashion brands. Go for the experience as a tourist.
google avatar

Chiravouth N.

Yelp
If you like high end clothing selections, this the place to go. There are several floors high with clothings, cosmetics and women's wears. The food court is in the basement with varity of selections. My only complain is there is no place to seat. You have to eat it outside of department store where there benches with nice small garden.
google avatar

Carol K.

Yelp
Great department store. Nice section in the basement if you're looking for edible souvenirs to take back with you. Din Tai Fung is also located on the 12th floor. Elevator has a seat inside to rest your tired legs! What more can you ask for?!
google avatar

Mariko F.

Yelp
I love this place. The bottom floor is a great food market. Just walking through that place will make you drool all over the place. The 9th floor is a great place to find really cute kids clothes. That said, you're going to pay for it. I love Miki House stuff but wow, that stuff is expensive! But it's adorable. If you're looking for a present for a kid, this is the place to go. I have to say that my absolute favorite thing about Takashimaya is the baby lounge on the 9th floor. They have a ton of change tables, private rooms for breastfeeding, some kid-friendly vending machines, and even a baby scale! As a nursing mother, this place was a bit of a haven for me, in Shinjuku.

Yelp
This was a pretty neat mall/department store. We were staying right across from this place in the Southern Tower. Being able to hop over the bridge to visit some 12 plus-ish floors of shopping was pretty cool. I wish we kind of had something similar here in the States. Side note...the food in the basement was delicious. They had such a varied selection of sweets.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the way all department stores should be. I love this place. This was one of my must come to places in Tokyo. Got there before it opened and was offered tea and candy while we waited. All the staff were super polite and super friendly. The store is so clean and well lit and organized. My favorite floor was the basement with all the food. We walked all around and looked at all the food first and had to narrow down what we were gonna buy. Ended up with some sushi rolls, salmon roe and rice, grilled squid, shellfish sashimi, different kinds of cooked bamboo shoots. We then went to the roof garden and had a very nice picnic. It was great. The kids were able to run around and enjoy the space and the food was amazing. The best sushi rice I've ever had. There's a few amazing looking restaurants on ten top 2 floors including din tai fun but we do not regret getting the food from the basement. Way too delicious!
google avatar

Spoon G.

Yelp
Beautiful department store with one of the most elaborate and delightful food basements - do try and stop by if you're in Tokyo
google avatar

Madelene S.

Yelp
One of the huge department complexes around Shinjuku. This one focuses on high end brands and luxury brands, meaning that the prices on products will be on the higher scale. At the bottom floor they have cosmetics and beauty care. This is really the draw of this department complex as this section has many of the more upscale Japanese brands which will be hard to find at other department stores, and that are nearly impossible to get your hands on abroad. On the top floors you will find some more exclusive restaurants. If you're looking for lunch I would recommend going elsewhere, but for dinner there are a few good places. In the complex there is also a huge Tokyo hands located. Convenient if you want to do some upscale shopping in combination with less expensive shopping!
google avatar

Ruby D.

Yelp
a little bit of everything and everything nice;-) Enjoyed their wide selection of food... it was like heaven in Tokyo...
google avatar

Ken G.

Yelp
Another great shopping experience, this place had everything. From the designer clothing on the main floors to the food hall in the basement, there are so many great options for shoppers here. This store is organized very well so it's easy to figure-out one's way around the different areas of the store.

C Y.

Yelp
Takashimaya is a great place to shop and to eat, but I gave two stars because the store charges about 15% service fee to process tax exemptions. I've shopped at many stores in Tokyo include other department stores, and I was never charged the fee except at the Takashimaya. So I was just simply surprised. If I knew I would go to other stores that carry same brands/products.
google avatar

Yelp
i think this place should be categorized as a ¥¥¥¥ business! everywhere i looked, the price tags were ri-donkulous! ¥20,000 sweaters and other designer clothing items! fortunately for us, we were just strolling through, checking out the general layout, seeing what they had for sale, what was different compared to american dept stores. and of course, we did not leave without a trip to the food court in the basement. they had a vast assortment of food, fresh fish, japanese veggies, sushi, rice bowls, noodle dishes, cakes, pastries, mochi and drinks. although everything you see is cold, the vendors will microwave your meal for you if it is meant to be a hot food item. since it is takashimaya, even the food court isn't cheap, as hubby and i each spent about ¥1500 on our lunch/snacks. the food was decent, but probably not worth the price. there's a nice outdoor eating area on 2F, since there's nowhere to eat inside. it's also in a prime-choice location, near other dept stores, parks, historical landmarks, and of course, right on top of the shinjuku train station.
