Google
This is my favorite sushi place in metro Detroit. I've been going here for 17 years and their service is unmatched. All of the servers work as a team and it makes a huge difference in terms of providing the most outstanding service ever. The sushi chef has remained the same in 17 years- always greeting his customer while making amazing sushi. They have fresh sushi, inventive rolls, delicious food! I'm just obsessed and cannot say enough good things. Please try Take Sushi, it is worth it!

Google
Staff is friendly and attentive, Sushi rolls are good, the Alaskan egg drop soup was certainly not to our taste, sweeter than expected but still not bad. Spider roll and eel nigiri was good, minus a tad too much avocado for the roll. The Gyoza was good but proportions seemed somewhat lacking. The Bulgolgi was decent, flavorful but not the greatest cut of meat. Service is really the gold star here.

Google
HANDS DOWN BEST SUSHI IN THE AREA! I’ve been to dozens of Sushi restaurants in the area and this place has the best food and the best service. The rolls are all well presented and taste AMAZING! The staff is very attentive and super fast and friendly. This is the only sushi place I will be going to from now on!

Google
Amazing family atmosphere. Took our 3 year old with us for dinner, was not sure how successful it would be. We were the only people in at first, so good, no issue. Then people started coming in... and they were all families with young kids! They gave her chopsticks with a little holder and her own soup dish that was bigger than ours and easier to scoop up. I'm just amazed at how acommidating this little place is.

Google
I and my husband had sushi here for the first time. I must say this place did not disappoint me. They started with complimentary Miso soup and We ordered few rolls but volcano roll was my favorite which had tittle spicy kick in it. Staff was very welcoming and provided really good service. Only thing I felt was this place is little pricy compared to other sushi places in town, though I am saying its little pricy their portion size is bigger than the other places I have been to.

Google
Love Take Sushi. The vibes, the rolls, the memories. The staff is always kind and welcoming. Our favorite date night that's for sure. I can't forget to mention the ginger salad dressing, amazing!

Google
I tried this place today for the first time. I can't say enough about the friendly, fast service. The sushi was delicious. The inside was warm, welcoming, and very clean.

Google
The servers and management were kind and attentive. I ordered two rolls which came out very quickly, along with a bowl of miso soup. The miso was lacking in flavor and the sushi rice was a bit dry, but the fish was fresh and delicious. I am not typically one to eat alone in a restaurant, but the atmosphere and staff here are welcoming and friendly.

Yelp
Been going here since 2003, always the best food and service. Would recommend the eggplant appetizer, absolutely to die for! My go to for entrees is the udon. Everyone is so kind. Favorite restaurant of all time!

Yelp
I love this place! Have been going here since I was little- now both me and my boyfriend have made it a regular date night spot! The ambiance is cozy, and the servers are very sweet! The food is quite tasty and high quality- you can't get the same quality very much throughout Metro Detroit.. love love love it here! I truly believe that if it were sanitary to kiss food- they would. It's very obvious they are passionate for what they do. Also the barley tea is very good

Yelp
Very small, family owned sushi location in Rochester Hills. The menu was great, it has all the classics and the prices were fair. We had a great sushi and sashimi platter for two ans our son had a salmon and California roll. All of the fish was fresh and tasted great. The Godzilla roll we ordered had very generous portions, and the rest of our meal was excellent. They do have beer and soft drinks, but not mixed drinks. It's a small place, so it's ideal for a family dinner or a date, less so for a huge party. We will definitely come here again, and it seems like a lot of locals do as well.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with Take Sushi. Prices are pretty good. I love that they had scallops, it's like eating a cloud. The fried tofu was good, they use silken tofu, I prefer extra firm tofu. They use white miso for soup, I'm used to the yellow and red which have a stronger flavor. Even though I'm used different flavors, I really enjoyed my lunch. They have a lovely delicate balance throughout the menu. There was even a few Korean items on the menu.

Yelp
Looks like a hole in the wall outside but so cute and friendly on the inside! We tried the spicy salmon crunch (very good, but needs more crunch), yellowtail roll (very tasty and fresh), scallop roll with an interesting green masago, and a rainbow roll which was very tasty but the pieces in this one need to be cut smaller, the size made it a little hard to eat. The employees are all very nice and helpful. I would definitely return if I'm in the area

Yelp
I remember when a friend invited me years ago to Ta-Ke Sushi (yes I thought it was literally 'Take' at first) and I was reminded of being in China because they give you a warm wet towel to freshen up. Sadly in post-Covid times, that is no more. However the food is still pretty good. It started ok though with Miso soup that was too salty and salad that tastes good but a little wet at the end. But everything changed when I got my main - bibimbap. It came out looking perfect. The fried egg has crispy edges and I really like the assortment of veggies (spinach, cucumber, radish, carrot) making it healthier. Dish comes out sizzling in a stone bowl so remember to stir stir stir so the bottom doesn't get too burnt. I put some of the sauce which is sweet, tangy, and spicy (gochujang aka fermented red chili paste based) in the bowl to mix but then I realized the better way is to just put a few dabs on each bite to taste which will minimize the error of mixing too much or little sauce. Overall solid place for Korean-Japanese fusion!

Yelp
Ordered the King crab roll, spicy chicken roll less masago, spicy California roll less masago, salmon tempura roll and chicken bibimbap. I do prefer Korean owned sushi spots, you can get some yummy Japanese cuisines as well as some yummy Korean staples too. ;) $50.72 is the total. The food would take about 15 minutes. We aren famished after our first pick fail. The pickup and pay was quick and easy. You pay at the door. Table is setup in the front doorway. The rolls were all super fresh and quite tasty. The salmon tempura and the king crab rolls were quite big, could barely fit them in my pie hole and no way to eat and talk at the same time. :) The spicy chicken and the spicy California rolls were tasty. The chicken bibimbap was good, would have liked a bit more veggies than zucchini, tad bit of spinach, onions and carrots. I like mine with the burdock and bean sprouts too. The egg was perfectly well fried. We would definitely come back for their rolls, they excel at the sushi for sure. They gave us a complementary salad and soups too. The house salad dressing is more on the sweet and less gingery side of things.

Yelp
This is our weekly spot! Fantastic sushi, hands down the best sushi in town. The owners, sushi chefs and the staff are amazing people, it's always a pleasure to see everyone, the extra hot sake, clear noodle and extra spicy Mayo is just the best! We always look forward to our week for Take Sushi!

Yelp
I was hungry but didn't feel like going very far, so I came here for some much needed sushi for lunch yesterday, and it was a okay. I wasn't sure what to expect since it seems to get mixed reviews, but I was in a risk taking kind of mood, so I went in. As someone who is not a sushi connoisseur, I never know how to actually review a sushi place since don't eat a ton of it. But, after reviewing the menu, I was thrilled to see that I found a few things I wanted to try. I started off with Miso soup which was quite good. Not the biggest portion, but good non the less. I ended up ordering the Yam Yam sushi, which was I know I have had before. It was cream cheese, salmon and deep fried. Isn't this also known as a New York Roll? No? The sushi was freshly made and also came with a salad. While the salad was pretty pathetic, the sushi and miso soup were quite good. I was starving, but wasn't totally full when I left. I mean, I was satisfied, and starving when I came in, but was happy with the food here, so no complaints. My server was quick and attentive, so that made a huge difference. Prices are reasonable with quite a few options which I liked. I would gladly return in the future, even though the place isn't tremendously big.

Yelp
I really enjoy Take. Love the hot towels you get initially. Sushi is consistently great.

Kim R.

Yelp
My husband & I were both disappointed in the food, it is no longer authentic Japanese, it is Korean. We have been coming here sine they opened several yrs ago, have been there in a while. The California roll was terrible, couldn't taste the fake crab & the outside rice layer did not have salmon roe or sesame seed it was plain rice. The shrimp tempura & agadashi tofu did not come with grated daikon & ginger, when I asked for some they said they don't have any daikon or ginger. I told them it should come with both dishes, she said sorry.

Yelp
I love when people post reviews and say they "discovered" a certain restaurant. Like they magically stumbled upon it like ponce de leon. Then lived on to tell the populous about its mystical wonders. So I am going to do it here... We "discovered" this local sushi place way back in 2006 when moving to Rochester. Good service, takeout is easy, and sushi is good. Come here at least once a month. Eat here, order the Saki and sushi, don't drink and drive, go home, watch some game of thrones or house of dragon, be merry!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a bit embarrassed to say that we have lived with them 10 minutes and take sushi for 15 years. And have never been in until a week ago. I'm really impressed. The food was very good as well as the ambience given that it's a small footprint but well done and comfortably clean. Service was outstanding with warm greetings and answers to our questions about the menu. No question, will become regulars at Take Sushi. Still can't believe we haven't been in here as we live so close and we like sushi!

Yelp
My family and I have been visiting Take since 2008, and I can assure you (as a big sushi fan) that I haven't been able to find a sushi spot in the area that compares to them. Many sushi places I've tried in the Metro Detroit area serve small portions of uninspired rolls. At Take, you can expect large portions of delicious rolls that are packed with love and fresh ingredients. The staff and owners are always incredibly friendly and attentive-- they actually want to make sure you're happy. If you're not a sushi fan, they have a wide range of other dishes to explore! I love the Alaskan soup and house salad, as well as the gyoza as an appetizer. If you're looking for quality food, great service, and a full belly, I highly recommend visiting Take Sushi!

Yelp
Take Sushi has been absolutely incredible during COVID-19 times. Even when Michigan opened dine in service, they made the decision to stay carry-out only to keep their staff and customers safe. I have ordered carry out here almost every week for the past few months and they have not disappointed yet. Their sushi is always ready very quickly and they have never messed up an order. Every order comes with plenty of soy sauce, wasabi and ginger. A few weeks ago, just before Christmas, they gave me two handmade face masks with my order. And on New Years Eve, I got two sets of wooden chopsticks in a pouch. Not only is staff super kind and generous, but the sushi never disappoints either. Best sushi in metro Detroit!

Yelp
Never will go back for their extremely overpriced meals. This basic chicken teriyaki cost $16.95 with tax. Spent $80 and the food was not good

Yelp
This is probably one of my new favorite sushi spots in the Metro Detroit area! I got takeout from here recently and it was everything I wanted and more!! The rolls were super fresh and truly filled more than so many other places I've been too. I really appreciate how neatly everything was made and it was full of flavor. I got a mix of classic and special maki rolls and I loved it all. Some of my favorites from the special rolls was the Godzilla roll, the Spicy Salmon Crunch, and the Michigan Roll. We also got miso soup that tasted so good and soothing! I also feel like for the great quality of the food, everything was priced well. The takeout process was super easy- I called over the food and picked it up at the door in 25 min. The women working there were also so nice, made me smile. So excited to add this place to my rotation of favorite restaurants and to hopefully dine in once things return back to normal.

Laura M.

Yelp
Food is always excellent. NEVER disappointed! Try the Alaskan Soup! The tempura vegetables are a great way to start the meal!

Chris E.

Yelp
I've been here several times trying to give it a chance and have been disappointed each time. It's been there for a while and I'm shocked it has good reviews, it's very overrated. My entree took 45 minutes to make, the sushi rolls are too big you need like three bites and it all falls apart. We asked to get new rolls and they literally told me no and that I HAD to pay for it. Then when we asked to speak to the manager (which I rarely do because I hate being that type) she never came. I had to walk up and find her. They weren't even busy. Do yourself a favor, skip this one.

Yelp
Always fresh sushi, good roll sizes and one of my favorite sushi spots in the Rochester area. Good for sit down service or takeout.

Yelp
I think I've tried every sushi in the area and this is one of my favorites! Great prices and always fast for pickup.

Yelp
The food is always excellent and ready promptly! Take has the best veggie/vegan sushi options in the area and I feel comfortable there every time.

Yelp
Back in Detroit and me and my husband had to go to our favorite place in the world, Take sushi. Sushi's was pretty good. Scratch that. The sushi was phenomenal. I always feel a deep connection to the service workers there and I feel as though they are making our food with love and care to make sure we have the best meal in the world. It feels like you're stepping into another world. You're going from this regular old strip mall outlet to all of a sudden you were having fine dining, love this place.

Donovan C.

Yelp
Incredible sushi. Everybody I know loves this place. Been going here since I was a child.

Yelp
I've been coming to Take Sushi since high school (over 10 years ago... jeez I'm getting old) and it is one of my favorite sushi spots of all time. I live in Los Angeles now, but I always find myself craving the quality of sushi and hospitality at Take. Whenever I come home for the holidays/my birthday I ALWAYS make sure to stop in with my family and we are never disappointed :). Even during the height of the pandemic everyone was so kind and accommodating to my family and I when we were ordering take out. I recommend Take to anyone living in the area who wants authentic sushi and the kindest staff ever. 10/10
google avatar

Jennifer I.

Yelp
The most authentic and fresh sushi in Metro Detroit area. Beautiful presentation, premium ingredients and pleasant pick up experience. True Japanese style, don't be fooled by the Thai Sushi joints this is chronic. OMG roll, Dynamite, Ninja and Sashimi will not disappoint. こんにちは

Yelp
Straight out the best Sushi place around! Always delicious and the staff is super friendly!

Yelp
Pretty good sushi considering we are in the Midwest. The only complaint was the girl at the table next to us was stuck in a trance in my eyes...
google avatar

Tate V.

Yelp
A wonderful little restaurant with fresh seafood and soup offerings. You could sit at the sushi counter before covid but they turned it into more seating. They are super attentive and it's a go to for lunch or dinner as a local.
google avatar

Gia N.

Yelp
This place uses way too much avocado and the sushi is just gross. I would recommend Sushi Kafe if you want really great sushi.
google avatar

Patrick B.

Yelp
I can honestly say I have eaten here over 100 times . Mostly 15+ years ago as I took many colleges and customers here while doing new domestic manufactures for paint application. They have always been consistent and delicious. Texted a picture to our son, who used to get sushi birthday cakes here 15+ years ago and he still remembered the place. Great impressions stay forever
google avatar

Hayley M.

Yelp
I ordered the King Crab Roll, Salmon Tempura Roll and Chicken Bibimbap. The sushi was amazing and the rolls were huge. The Chicken bibimbap was not bad, but wasn't very flavorful. I have had better before, but it was still good. I used a lot of gochujang which comes with the dish, so maybe ask for extra if you like a lot of spice and flavor like I do. Friendly service and I highly recommend their sushi!
google avatar

Mike T.

Yelp
Wife and I recently moved to the area from east coast and wanted some good sushi. Well, what do you know! Take Sushi turned out to be a great experience. Courteous service Excellent taste Plenty of variety We visit them as often as we can :) is

Yelp
Ordered futomaki, california roll, salmon roe nigiri, and pork katsu. Everything was amazing, california roll size was very large. Pork katsu was also awesome very good quality food and prepared very well.

Yelp
I came for sushi during the COVID shutdown. They had a good process. You don't even have to go inside the restaurant, you just stand in the vestibule area and they have a plexiglass covering to keep germs off of themselves and you. It was great, order was accurate and ready to go. Their rolls are always so huge, I forgot that when I ordered and I ordered extra for leftovers. Which I know sushi leftovers are :/ but when you're so desperate for sushi it'll do! I barely made a dent, I wish I had someone to share with since it'll go bad for sure before I can get to it all. I must remember for next time when I order. Which hopefully should be once this is all over and I have someone to share with :)

Ivan P.

Yelp
This family own Sushi bar is very special to me ! Great owners and staff! They are very talented in the art of making sushi. I have frequent this place for over 20 years, always great and food is delicious!!! OMG roll, Dragon roll and Caterpillar roll, and Spider roll are my favorites, a must try is the Tear Roll!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Owners are outgoing and make sure you have a great meal. Best sushi on the area.

Wild S.

Yelp
the staff is very nice and friendly. we chose to dine in and it took over an hour to get food. its hard to sit there and watch 50-100 takeout orders get put together but the entire restaurant hasn't eaten anything. That being said, the waitstaff is amazing and very kind and hard working.
google avatar

Jae K.

Yelp
One of a kind is the Rochester Hills. I hope that many people will enjoy the food here.
google avatar

Chelsea H.

Yelp
The staff are always SO friendly and generous! Their sushi is one of the best in the area. A smaller, more intimate interior with a long sushi bar along the one side of the wall. The OMG roll is to die for, but open wide!

Amy S.

Yelp
Best sushi I have had in the metro Detroit area BY FAR! Fish is always so so fresh. Staff is so friendly! This is place is a must try!

Yelp
Had a fantastic dinner post a Yelp Quirks Out event at the Barre Code last week. I didn't actually take the class since I was checking people in but I somehow worked up quite an appetite! ;) Stopped in with the awesome Chelcie W and we ordered up some nigiri and 3 rolls. Got a nice bowl of miso and salad as a starter and the sushi came out quickly and we were on our way. We had the spicy tuna, the toro scallion roll, and the philla roll. Everything was delicious. Buttery fish and fresh vegetables throughout. The salmon nigiri in particular was melt in your mouth delicious. I don't really make it to that side of town all that often but I would gladly eat there again the next time I find myself in the area!

Ewa M.

Yelp
My family has eaten here since the day it opened. The sashimi and sushi are excellent. The staff is always accommodating and gracious. It's like coming home for Sunday dinner.

Yelp
So far, I've only eaten here once and it was a to-go order; however, the quality of the fish was excellent! I'd give a 5/5 rating but our rice was a disappointment. It was noticeably chewy and put a slight damper on our food.Nevertheless, I feel strongly that mediocre rice isn't the norm here so we'll definitely be back. Our order consisted of salmon, scallop, yellowtail, white tuna, and mackarel nigri. We also had the Michigan, salmon avocado, negi toro, tuna avocado, dynamite, and American dream maki. The nigiri was all consistently good versus other places where only one type of fish is exceptional. As for the maki, I personally enjoyed the simpler ones like the negi toro more. I don't think you could go wrong in trying out all the different maki though. We didn't get any vegetarian maki but I was impressed that they had a decent variety. I think the pricing is quite fair. It's slightly pricier than other sushi places that we've tried so far here in Michigan, but the quality is definitely there so I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off at all. Nigiri is priced per piece. Our order was over $100 and I was asked to pay beforehand over the phone. I don't know if that's customary or if it's just because it was a big order. I thought it was worth mentioning though. I'm also happy to report that we got everything we ordered for. It also came packaged well with small ice packs on top of the main tray.

Mashal K.

Yelp
Quick service which was nice but there is better sushi in the area! Would not try again.

Yelp
This cute little sushi restaurant took forever for my friend and me (we were both driving in from different areas) to find. I was about to give up and head to the chain up the road but glad I toughed it out! (My GPS was wrong). Anyway, there's nice variety to the lunch specials, ranging from sushi to noodles and from teriyaki to donburi. I went with the sushi lunch No. 2, consisting of two tuna nigri pieces, three salmon nigri pieces and half the American dream roll (egg, avocado, crab meat and tempura bits). We each got miso and salad, which was a nice surprise since the menu didn't say so. The sushi was fresh, but I want to come back to try their specialty rolls (some with fun names like Jello Shot, Shrek and the Red Wing Roll). Our service was prompt and pleasant but had a funny moment. My friend asked for a lemon with his drink, and the waitress responded back "Ramen?" I'm glad I caught what both were trying to say; otherwise, it could've been awkward. I also liked the presentation of our meals. My friend's rolls came on a platter, while mine came on one of those round bamboo trays.

Yelp
This place has the best sushi! The prices are fair. The portions and rolls are large. It tastes great. Been to a lot of sushi restaurants and this one is our favorite. Thank you Take!

Nao Saudade S.

Yelp
The best sushi in the area. We drive 20 minutes each way to get sushi here. It is fresh, authentic, delicious.

Sanna G.

Yelp
This is hands down the best sushi Ive had in the Midwest. Fresh, beautiful and (most importantly) flavorful rolls EVERYTIME. Take has the most warm and wonderful service staff who are always attentive and sincere. The decor and ambiance of this restaurant feels authentic and reminds me of some of my favorite West Coast sushi spots. If you give this place a chance, I can guarantee the only reason youd ever go back to Sumo is for the ginger dressing on their house salad.
