Google
It was a great dining experience. The sushi rolls are very fresh. All the dishes that we ordered were good. I would visit again.

Google
Love their fresh handroll sushi 🍣 Reservations are highly recommended if you don’t wait 30 minutes more. The counter table is in high demand. I forgot to mention on the reservation note that they put me on the table, which was kind of messed up by the kids 😅😅 I wish they had more variety of rolls! We had Tuna, Hamachi, Snow Crab, and Shrimp Tempura. They were all good, but not really worth the price. I think 🤔 one roll costs $6 -$15 w/o tax and tips. If you can eat them for less than $3, then you are in Japan.

Food is great, however, the staff is not too responsive/nice. We understood that they might be busy but we sat the bar, small space taken and the staff wanted to kick us out right away to take in more new customers. They were not responsive about our orders.

Google
Came with a group of 4. Seating is limited, so we sat at the bar. Which, in all honesty, isn't horrible, because you get to see them making the food. Everything we had was absolutely excellent, tasty, and fresh. Each thing we ordered was served one at a time, which was a nice pacing. I will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it.

Google
Great hand rolls. Not for sharing. You absolutely want the roll for yourself. Ingredients are very fresh. Excellent service too. Currently you cannot make reservations. Waiting time can be long if you show up after six. It was cold outside when I visited. They brought out small cups of tea for folks waiting in line outside. So sweet. Great for small parties (2~3 people). Most seatings are at the sushi bar. So for larger party it would be hard to talk to all your friends. Try the Saki bomb if you like beer. Saki gives just the right kick. Update 2023 The place is not as busy now. Recently we visited the place several times, between 5 to 6ish, each time we were able to be seated fast. Food is just as good as before. Update 2024 Still love the food here. Now you can make a reservation with Yelp. But they are not busy during weekdays.

Saw people bringing up Kazunori but can you really compare the two? Kazunori lacked the specialty sets that Taki Nori offers. We both ordered their premium set, which included Japanese scallops, lobster, wagyu, and uni & toro hand rolls. We also tried a few of their other hand rolls a la carte style. The uni handroll was easily our favorite (Japanese uni btw!). Handroll Project is still the better value, but this is a nice addition to Bay Area. Service was also good - the server we had was very attentive and prompt. We did have a small issue with snow crab running out, but the server resolved it for us. Overall a good experience here for us.

Google
I’ve had my fair share of handroll experiences and this place is pretty good, but quite pricey for the experience. Most handroll places I’ve been to have stellar customer service — very attentive to you even when it is full house. Reservation on Saturday at 5PM. Walked in and the seating is very limited — there seems to be only bar seating (which is totally fine and what I prefer for the experience). No one greeted us at all but my friend sat down and was early to our reservation, so we just took our spot and sat down. There was probably 4-5 other people inside so it was fairly empty on a Saturday. There was also some time where the music just stopped playing and it was so oddly quiet (the only party that was talking was my party!). Also we had four seats but we only got two small plates of wasabi and ginger haha - not a problem since I asked for my own. Pricing of the handroll is pricey compared to other places I’ve been to but makes sense since it the Bay Area (I’ve only been to handroll places in Japan and SoCal). 4/5 - Crab Handroll was good! It was my first time having this since I’ve only eaten blue crab, but I’d get this again since it was on the cheaper side of the menu ($8) 5/5 - Uni Toro Handroll was so good and very nicely presented! It is quite on the hefty side at $25 but gotta at least try it and plus I wanted a nice picture for my review and instagram 3/5 - Hamachi Handroll was pretty basic, but fresh! 4/5 - Uni Handroll cause they use Japanese Bafun Uni instead of bland Santa Barbara Uni haha 3/5 - Maybe I’m biased with service, but all the handroll bars I’ve been to were super attentive and I feel like they just tried to get food to us and never really followed up with us or ask how we were doing. We waited awhile to finally flag down a host/manager to get the bill. Not a terrible experience but wasn’t up to my standards for some parts. The more expensive items were absolute fire though. I’d still come back if I’m craving a handroll spot since I’m only 20min away haha

Google
In love with this handroll bar!! Their food was really fresh and with amazing flavor & texture! I personally like the hamachi, salmon belly & scallop rolls. Their oysters were on point too besides i think it was a bit small :( Overall a pretty good place for a night out with your friends or on a date!

Yelp
Located in downtown San Mateo - you'll have to find street or nearby garage parking. We had a reservation and they seated us right away. The interior is pretty small, with mostly bar seating and maybe a handful of tables. It's a small cozy setting and pretty quiet. Only one bathroom for entire place. Service was friendly but minimal interaction. When you sit at the bar, you can see them make the rolls, and they place them right in front of you. The food comes out one by one pretty quickly. We were bummed that they were out of the sushi tacos because we were looking forward to trying it. Everything else was available. We didn't come that close to their closing time, and it was a Saturday night, so it was odd that they ran out of one of their seemingly most popular appetizers. We tried the spicy edamame, truffle hamachi, combo C, soft shell crab roll, and yuzu toro roll. Truffle hamachi was great - I loved the flavors of everything put together, and the jalapeño gave a nice kick. The soft shell crab was one of my favorites - simple but you can taste the quality of the crab. Honestly the shrimp tempura was one of my favorites. The tempura was freshly made and lightly crisped and tender on the inside. We thought the yuzu toro was okay - while the toro was good, it was pretty thin and the yuzu flavor was very subtle - I don't think it was worth the extra $$. The scallop was very fresh and yummy, but there was a strong wasabi flavor with each bite - perhaps with the rice? Definitely on the pricier end given the portions, but overall good quality. Hopefully they adjust portions on the sushi tacos so they don't run out easily again!

Yelp
Stopped by at 5pm on a weekday and it was basically empty, which was great because we grabbed 2 seats at the bar.Eating at the bar is always more fun because you can see the handrolls being made and they serve you one by one so the seaweed doesn't get soggy. They have a good selection of fish but the standouts for us were: chu-toro and salmon belly! It was a little tough to get the server's attention to get the menu back to order more rolls and they never came to refill water... but the sushi was made very quickly. Parking can be a little tough in downtown San Mateo but if you park a little further away and walk, you'll find spots.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday afternoon for my birthday lunch, and it wasn't crowded at all. We sat at the bar and got to watch the chef make all the handrolls right in front of us! The vibe is cute and fancy casual, and all the rolls were so good. We shared Combo C and the Ultimate Combo, and the presentation was on point, especially the Ultimate Combo. They replaced the lobster with tuna tartare, which I didn't mind at all. The Wagyu was delicious, and the final Taki Special was the cherry on top! tuna, uni, caviar, and gold flakes, wow! Everything was amazing, and we had a great experience. Definitely coming back!

Melissa N.

Yelp
I ordered the combo c which came with shrimp tempura, hamachi, unagi, salmon belly, and scallop for 35$ and also the sushi tacos! the quality of everything was so good. my boyfriend got the shrimp tempura with snow crab and i think that was definitely in my top three as well alongside the unagi and scallop! the hot green tea was also good! the service was good i love sitting at the bar and seeing them roll it in front of you

Suzanna A.

Yelp
Hand rolls tasted great! My personal favorite was the special shrimp tempura one with crab meat. We did leave a tad hungry even ordering additional rolls, but still good nonetheless.

Nancy L.

Yelp
We came by because sushi Sam was fully booked. This place is very small with bar seating and just 2 tables. Ordering is easy, you mark your order on the menu. We ordered one of the combos that provides 4 handrolls and a few others hand rolls. They serve it on a plate in front of you , traditional Japanese style. The Waygu beef roll was amazing.., slightly seared to get that aroma . Spicy tuna was also quite good. The blue crab was good but a little too much mayo. Overall a bit pricy for a casual place but good experience.

Sharon L.

Yelp
Solid Hand roll bar, nothing special though. Memorable: unagi hand roll to my surprise since I don't usually like unagi! Husband and I got a few rolls together and the Combo C. We came right when they opened so there was no line ~4PM :) felt like a private dining experience. We would come again!

Kristine F.

Yelp
Cool experience sitting at a sushi bar-centric place. They have 14 seats and one table for two, and another for four. I came in for dinner with the bestie & her bf. Mark which items you want on the laminated menu. I ordered Combo A for $15: 3 set hand rolls consisting of shrimp tempura + cucumber, sake salmon, and spicy tuna. Man that tuna packs a punch! Much spicier than I've ever had. The shrimp had a sweet unagi sauce that I wasn't expecting. Hot and tasty though. Salmon was fresh but I had to dip it in wasabi-soy mix for flavor. I also ordered the three piece gyoza and fried calamari rings. Great apps! It was an interesting experience eating at the bar. Sushi chefs rolled the hand rolls in front of us and placed them on the parchment paper covered stone plate once done. Food was prepared in a timely manner so it was a quick dinner. Make a reservation for prime time dining. The place filled up after 6pm on a Saturday.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick, light dinner then Taki Nori is the place for you. May be good for a solo dinner. The space is pretty small and they don't have many tables, so be prepared to get a seat the bar or wait a while. The service is nice and fairly quick depending on how busy they are. The bathroom is decently clean and gender neutral. The sushi tacos were the best part. We almost ordered a second round, but waited until all the food was there. The crunchiness of the base is very appealing. The flavor of the fish, in this case salmon, with the jalapeño and sweetness of the sauce was great! Totally recommend. The quality of fish for the hand rolls was very fresh. The veggies used like the avocado and cucumber were refreshing. The fattiness of the o'toro and salmon belly was perfect. It wasn't too overwhelming. The rice used in the hand roll was cooked and seasoned well. Pricing is pretty fair. Glad we decided to walk in for dinner on a Sunday night. Will definitely come again. Recommend for a more intimate setting rather than for a noisy group hangout.

Yelp
TLDR: Good sushi, smallish portions, slightly spotty service Seating is predominantly along the long bar counter on hard wooden stools. There are also two smallish tables up next to the front window that can accommodate 2 or 4 persons each. There are Big tv screens on the backside of the bar playing whichever sports game is on. Flag down the waiter, get handed a menu and a grease pen where you write in how many of each item you want. Hand it back to the waiter, and.. Watch them assemble hand rolls as you eat. It's kind of a semi-organized chaos in the prep area. Dishes seem to come out in random order. I was hoping that my Yuzu Taro would come out after my standard tuna roll, so for next time, I'll ask for my desired sequence to the waiter. The hand rolls here are cylindrical and significantly smaller when compared to the big conical hand rolls like one would get in a traditional Japanese restaurant. For example, the Tempura Shrimp Hand Roll itself is a bit small, but I suppose that matches the size of the other hand rolls you get here. That said, the sushi rice is perfect - room temperature soft and on point. The fish is delightful. The Nori is as it should be - taut and crispy crunchy as you bite into each roll. Yuzu Taro vs. Standard Tuna Hand Rolls: The Yuzu Toro looked and sounded awesome but in the end. It didn't seem worth it. You do get a wide slice of fatty tuna that was a bit thin for the $. The yuzu was very subtle - not really that detectable. If I had to do it again, ordering three standard tuna rolls for the same money would have been better for me. As if to make up for it, I still ordered an extra tuna hand roll to get back on track. The tuna in the standard tuna roll is cut into strips that allow your roll to be savored in small bites as opposed to one big chunk because the tuna sometimes doesn't divide easily. Soft Shell Crab Small Plate: A bargain at $9! Big and thick, lots of batter but also a good sized crab to begin with. Salmon Sashimi you get three big fresh pieces - Yum! Worth it! The sushi chefs here aren't conversationalists as they are heads-down focused on their craft. Flag them down if they missed anything.. The one waiter for the entire restaurant was a little hard to track down as he was running to and fro behind you, due to the fact that this is bar seating. They DO try hard here.. In the end, they all yelled out. "Thank you" as we left, so that's a nice touch!

Yelp
Weeknight dinner. No wait. Mostly bar seating. We sat at a table for 2 by the door which was perfect for us to catch up. I got combo 3 and added a roll. I was satisfied but I could have eaten more. Not a budget dinner but I enjoyed everything we ordered. Parking can be challenging if it's a date night.

Claire C.

Yelp
I got Combo B for lunch, which came with 4 rolls that were really filling. Everything tasted fresh, and the seaweed was nice and crunchy. I also liked that they had a low-sodium soy sauce option. The vibe was great, with all-bar seating that felt casual and relaxed. The combos are definitely a good deal, but I'm looking forward to trying the specialty rolls next time!

Yelp
A Bay Area take on the super popular Kazunori down in LA. Roll selection was good. Fish was good. Rice was fine. But the nori (seaweed) was mediocre. Good hand rolls need good crispy seaweed. Maybe it was the end of the night.....

Sherry L.

Yelp
I love that this handroll bar is way more low-key and casual than other handroll bars. I thought their prices were excellent and very reasonable. We ended up getting a combo each and then ordering extra rolls to supplement. We also ordered a bunch of sides for our son...who (of course) did not want to eat anything but nori. I loved that all the rolls were made to order and that they were super generous with all of the ingredients.. particularly the waygu and the ikura handrolls. Parking was a pain in the ass on a Saturday evening in downtown San Mateo, so I would avoid going there at that time. We did make reservations for a party of 3 but there were still plenty of empty spots at the counter when we arrived at prime dinner time (6:30PM).

Cherie W.

Yelp
Solid 3 stars. I love hand roll experiences and this covers that, but just quality and space is lacking just a bit compared to Kazunori or ROL in So Cal. You sit at a bar and they bring the hand rolls out to you. The place is quiet so you don't need to yell. Things that could be better, but are fine: - There's only one restroom for everyone and while you're back there you'll notice some places that could be cleaned better. - The fish is served a bit colder and not as fresh, but not bad! Ginger and wasabi also mid. The pieces also didn't let me taste the fish as much, some flavors were stronger and didn't complement. - Soy sauce containers were messy and sauce residue on sides/table. - One person was seemingly dedicated to service walking around but failed to notice the water needed to be refilled for some time. All that being said, it was good/fine. My favorite items I had were the Shrimp Cucumber and Hamachi respectively. The tempura was pretty freshly fried. Everything else I tried was okay due to quality and/or sauce/garnish over powered the meat.

Yelp
Came here on my day off on Sunday to treat myself after my 12 hour shift on Saturday so here I am. I came in and ordered the beef kimchi, toro special, yuzu toro, wagyu beef, and taki special. Lemme tell you, all of these hand rolls were amazing! Each roll had so much flavor packed in it. The highlights being the taki special and the wagyu beef. The taki special just screams luxury and the wagyu beef has a nice gaminess to it. The service here was great as well. The staff here are very nice and the food came out in a timely manner. The restaurant has a few tables inside but most people are seated at the bar. I definitely recommend checking this spot out. Try it out if you like. :)

Liz E.

Yelp
Talk about a life-changing spot. I stopped in on a random Thursday and let me tell you, I've now gone back with friends and family at LEAST 4 times now. Best handrolls in the area with a very reasonable price point! The chefs prep everything in front of you and, if you sit at the bar, they place each roll onto your own serving tray as they make them. The staff are very relaxed and the TVs above make it a fun spot to hang out and chat and eat all evening. Space can be limited during busy hours but I've never really had an issue finding a spot. Some of my favorites so far: - snow crab handroll - salmon handroll - spicy tuna handroll - taki special (uni and toro) - ikura shoyu zuke (MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE)

Bob K.

Yelp
Overall, really great hand roll spot in San Mateo with a huge range of options and a very cool vibe. Overall, hand rolls were excellent - had the special with Uni and Toro, which was absolutely amazing. Also had hamachi which was good. Sashimi was a disappointment - a bit bland and too cold. Service was fine, but not particularly warm and they seem to handle the seats separately - so I was done with my meal well before the people I came with even got their second hand roll. Don't know if this place is new but definitely will be back and even better if some tuning up to their service model.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Small restaurant with a few tables. We sat at the sushi bar. They mainly serve hand rolls but have various appetizers. We ordered combo C, truffle hamachi, soft shell crab, miso soup, and Hokkaido uni. Everything was good except the soft shell crab. Kinda disappointed. Overly battered and dry.

Carolyn C.

Yelp
I went to Taki Nori on a pretty crowded day--it was super busy, but the service was still really nice and efficient. The hand rolls were fresh and flavorful, with some creative topping combinations. That said, the rolls are on the smaller side, so you'll probably need to order a good number of them to feel full. The restaurant focuses on bar seating with some tables on the side. The overall vibe is casual and chill.

Rhea M.

Yelp
Adorable little spot in downtown San Mateo! We sat at the bar and loved watching the chef's cool calm demeanor in action. Wait staff was very quick, food came out quickly and it was beyond delicious! Tough to pick a fave but the sushi tacos are definitely a must-try! Sashimi was incredibly fresh. Would definitely dine again!

Jovian L.

Yelp
Not worth the price - the price was more reflective of the location rather than the quality of the hand rolls. The fish themselves were okay but some of the fish were too cold (like they'd just been straight out of the fridge?) the combo of the special hand rolls were nothing too special. Overall nothing to write home about. Service was nonexistent.

Albert R.

Yelp
I went here for a date night recently and thoroughly enjoyed the hand rolls. The hand rolls were very flavorful and tasted very fresh. When we entered, the server helped us immediately and helped guide us through how to order. It was also cool to see the staff prepare the rolls in front of us! The only thing I wish is that the portions were a little bigger because I eat so much, but I loved the place.

Fumika T.

Yelp
Came here with my partner to celebrate my bonus, but we left still pretty hungry. The only one worth getting that I can remember is the otoro. Yuzu toro was sort of weird. Everything else was alright. Service was a bit slow but give them props cause it was super crowded and they seem short staffed! After experiencing the suruki market sale and doing hand rolls at home, it's just not worth it. It's not bad, but just not worth the price. If it's nbd to spend $250+ per person for you then this might be the spot! Not for me though, even after the bonus.

Nancy D.

Yelp
High quality handrolls at a cute date-night spot! The handrolls were soo good! There were so many options to choose from and they make the rolls in front of you, so I also count it as somewhat of an experience too. A bit pricey but so worth it. I was salivating!

Michelle C.

Yelp
I came here with my mom for Mother's Day! I made reservations in advance and was sat right away when we arrived. My mom and I very much enjoyed our meal here! We both got the set of 5 rolls for $35. This spot reminds me of Kazunori in SoCal but with Bay Area prices. Each roll tasted very fresh! It came with salmon belly, shrimp, scallop, unagi, and hamachi. My favorite was the scallop, it had a really good sauce on top. Theres not a lot of tables so I wouldn't recommend coming with a group of people unless you want to sit at the bar. I'll definitely be back!

Timothy N.

Yelp
It didn't look too busy but it took some time for our food to come out. When it did it was good. I don't have too much experience at hand roll bars so I'm not sure if that is the norm.

Pearl R.

Yelp
When on a Wednesday night with my friends and it was pretty open. There were plenty of seats on the counter and tables. There were a lot of options of rolls, sashimi, appetizers and also Handroll combos to choose from. I felt like the rolls were good but not amazing and it's a reasonable price. It's a nice spot to eat with friends or family but I wish the rice and fish were better quality for the price and the presentation

Valerie C.

Yelp
One of my favorite hand roll place... took me a couple tries to liked this place but it's comparable to kazunori in socal! The price is definitely a bit more expensive. I opted for the 5 hand rolls for $35 that included shrimp tempura, unagi, hamachi, salmon belly and scallops. The scallops were my favorite out of everything but they all tasted really fresh! The truffle hamachi is a much try! I do wish the spice of jalepeno had more of a kick to bring out all the flavors but still a favorite of mine. This is the first time I got the soft shell crab and Wowwww you can tell this soft shell crab is fresh and not frozen like most restaurants. The restaurant is a bit small since it's mainly bar seating and there are 2 tables for those who are in parties of 4. It's more good for a date night or 2 friends catching up here!

Kristy K.

Yelp
This spot is a hit or miss for me. Some days the rolls are super fresh and delicious and other days, the quality of the fish is just eh. Two of my favorites that are always a hit: - Truffle hamachi 10/10!!! You can really taste the truffle flavor - Sushi taco also 10/10!! Taste refreshingly despite it being fried and yummy The hits/misses are the hand rolls. It really depends which fish you get and which days. I know the authentic way to enjoy raw fish is no soy sauce/ wasabi but I love flavors. So I always get the truffle hamachi and dip my hand rolls in the leftover truffle sauce. Ugh so good.. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. There's never a wait which is great. There are two options for seating; bar or table. If you sit at the bar, you can see the chefs make your hand rolls.

Knguye11 ..

Yelp
Friendly staff. Clean restaurant & dog friendly. Ramens & crispy chicken so tasty. Portion size is decent will fill you up. Price is fair, but tips will be automatically charged.

Jenny P.

Yelp
I came on a weekday evening and walked in with a friend. We were seated right away. We opted for the Combo C which came with 5 rolls. The quality of fish was good and the portion size was decent! However, my friend and I were still hungry so we ordered a Chu-Toro roll which was excellent! The place is pretty quiet but maybe because not too many people were dining in. Great for a date spot. I would say this is a little on the pricier side but good if you're craving hand rolls.

Jenn N.

Yelp
Quality: I'm giving it a 31/2 star out of 5 Portions: 2 star Price : over price It's not worth it! I should have gone to San sushi or Amami or Kiroro . . what a waste of my time .

Sheila B.

Yelp
Great food, not so good service. Nice people. We order Door Dash a lot but we did not enjoy our experience eating at the bar.

Christina N.

Yelp
Simple hand roll. Prices are slightly on the high side. I had the spicy tuna, salmon belly, chutoro and hamachi. My favorite was the chutoro. They were generous with the fish and there was not too much rice in the handroll, which was nice. The soft shell crab side was pretty good too. I was decently full on 4 handrolls and could probably fit room for dessert :)

Simon C.

Yelp
I went on a Sunday at around 12:30pm solo, there was no customer sitting at the restaurant and I was the only one until I almost finished my meal. The menu was very simple, those handrolls with special items were quite pricey though for being what they are. I ordered the Hiyayakko old tofu, it was kind of in warm temperature, the sauce was quite salty, it didn't taste like homemade but probably just bought from outside and cut, which is still completely fine but it wouldn't justify the price point. For all the other rolls, nothing was too impressive nor stood out. Fish was fresh. The chef and his staff were nice but not seem to have a lot of passion to the food they were serving.

tere p.

Yelp
$$$ , The place is like a bar type counter with 2 or 3 small tables to sit down. But we opted to sit infront of the chef. The service is as you ordered so it was fresh. It is always a delight to stop by on any Japanese food , sushi and nori are our favorite.

Anna C.

Yelp
Came in during early Sat evening while the place is still quiet and peaceful. Very clean and modern. seaweed is fresh and crisp, only suggestion is the roll is a bit dry, when we had our hand rolls in Tokyo, they usually add some veg in each roll to make it more balanced.

Jazmine V.

Yelp
My first time ever trying Japanese hand rolls. I was not expecting the steep prices, but this restaurant was worth giving a try. For me personally, I am still trying raw fish or seafood (I'm such a texture person, so I'm slowly acclimating myself to eat raw fish or seafood). Items I ordered ** * Miso Soup 5/5 - wish it had more seaweed though! * Spicy Veggie Hand Roll 5/5 - comes with kimchi! * Salmon Belly Hand Roll 4/5 - gets a little messy on the last bite. * Cold Sake 5/5 (I don't remember the name of it, but has notes of apple, pear, blueberry) I didn't want to order more because I wanted to get dessert after. As a first time guest, I didn't know they only serve one hand roll to you at a time. So you have to finish it before they serve the next one ~~ I wish I knew that. The restaurant is a bit small, mostly bar seating and a couple of tables. The restaurant is so appealing and looks very upscale, a good place for a date night or by yourself.

Yelp
One of the two handroll places in the Bay, located in downtown San Mateo, Taki Nori has it's own uniqueness from all the other sushi restos in the area. Parking is alright in the area, we were able to snag one a block or two away. We came on a Sunday evening around 6pm and there was plenty of seats inside. They have bar seating taking up the main part of the place, and two tables by the window that I presume you order and they bring it to you? We were seated and offered water right away as we looked over the menu with all the many options. We didn't order any apps and sides but we did order several of their hand rolls and all of them were to perfection! - snow crab (5/5): This was my favorite!! The only one we both ordered a 2nd time, a little heavy on the mayo but the crab was definitely real and it honestly just all went together really well; with a dash of soy sauce and wasabi to balance the mayo-mmmmm! - hokkaido scallop (5/5): Next best after the snow crab! The scallop was super fresh, not to mention HUGE! The flavor for this one also went really well; I believe this had a dash of fresh wasabi inside. - salmon (5/5): Simple no frills salmon handroll; I picked this over the salmon belly since I wasn't a fan of avocado - toro special (5/5): This one was also really good! Chopped bluefin tuna belly with some oshinko (pickled radish); definitely balanced the fatty toro, not that it needed anything. - o'toro (5/5): fatty bluefin tuna belly; simple no frills nice thick slice of fatty tuna over rice; this was picked over the chu-toro since my company wasn't a fan of wasabi! Overall a great experience just like last time! This would be my second visit here, and safe to say each roll was properly spaced out and they were all made to perfection; 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
We got the Combo B and added on a Hamachi roll. I've had better hand rolls at other places but this place is fine. The restaurant is on the smaller side with 2 small tables and a bar seating area. I did appreciate that the workers did not rush us out since my friends and I were there for about 2ish hours! Don't worry - there were no long lines. There's street parking and a parking lot nearby as well.

Yelp
Hand roll was good. Service was great. Perfect date spots. Price was affordable. Definitely would go back

Yelp
I've been enjoying this type of handrolls more now so I was excited to try this place out. I thought the fish quality was good. The simplicity of the rolls really highlights the quality of the ingredients. I just wish they cut the seaweed a little bit smaller so it's more proportionate to the filling. Too much seaweed makes it harder to bite through the whole roll. They offer combos, which I think is a pretty good deal. We ordered a combo as well as some a la carte items. I think the normal a la carte items are priced okay. It's not cheap, but tolerable. However, the premium handrolls were really pricey, so if I come back again, I'd probably avoid ordering those. Overall, a tasty meal with good quality fish, but it can get pricey very easily.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this hand roll place for a while. I came in on my own and didn't need to wait for a table as I sat at the bar. They have bar and table seating, but seating is pretty limited so I wouldn't recommend for large groups. They wait for you to finish one hand roll before serving you the next one to ensure the seaweed is crispy. My favorite roll was the chutoro.

Yelp
Honestly, not really worth the hype. For the price of what this place is, the quality of the hand roll was just meh. It could be because the dude serving us was brand spanking new and in training, but I expected better. He also kept getting everything wrong and would give us a hand roll without even saying what it was. He kept giving my girlfriends order to me, and I saw the same thing happen to other guest. The fish and everything was fresh and good quality, but it just wasn't that much food for the price. Overall, I had better and more value places.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by Taki Nori for a late lunch (3pm) on a Sunday. To our surprise, but not really because 3pm is a random time for lunch, the place was empty. We were seated right away and left about 20 mins later. We ordered their combo A: salmon, spicy tuna and shrimp tempura and also added on hamachi and unagi. In addition to the hand rolls, we also go karage and calamari. I've been to a few hand roll places in SoCal and in comparison, TN fell short in flavor. I think it's a cool experience, but don't expect too much.

Yelp
Ordered 6 hand rolls via Uber eats. The packing helped with keeping the seaweed crispy and the box helped travel the goodies in shape :) I got the snow crab rolls, scallop, salmon belly, salmon, and ikura roll. I liked them all except the scallop roll due to seasoning and crunchy onion. I would order again next time.

Yelp
Small handrolls that add up fast. These are literally bite sized, and not for sharing. The rolls range from $6 to $25, but buyer beware it'll easy add up to over $100 for two people to get full. Personally, I had 10 rolls which cost more than $140, and that was just my share. They have the usual, crab, unagi, Toro, etc, but the better rolls such as the O'Toro, Uni and Toro, and Waygu will run you $15-$25 for a small roll. Believe me it adds up fast. The rolls took awhile to get to us, they weren't that busy. Service seemed slow and our waitress didn't seem enthusiastic at all. It took awhile for them to get our water, and they kept forgetting. For the price and quality, San Mateo has so many other sushi options.
