Of the three sushi rollo i Ordered, i only liked the sunset roll. And it was okay, not amazing. Im usually a big fan of spicy salmon rolls but this one was flavorless. How? How can a "spicy salmon" roll taste like unseasoned fishy rice? The staff was nice. The space was a little grim. But again, the staff was cheery.

Very yummy sushi creations. We've tried many different rolls & most have been great. Quick service & good atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We got there around 800 or so. At about 830 we were told that they would be closing soon so we needed to order anything we wanted and close the bill. Oops, our bad. There was 4 of us and we just got the bill and paid in order to be out at 9pm. The food was great. The staff, were trying to get out of there so they probably weren't as friendly as they would have been had we come earlier. Overall the price was great, food was excellent and fast plus you get a discount if you pay with cash. Can't beat it. This was my first time here, although my kids have eaten here numerous times.

Always great sushi and never too busy. The best hole in the wall sushi place I’ve ever eaten at, and definitely the best sushi joint in east county. It’s also so reasonably priced (feel like it’s honestly pretty cheap) which is astounding because the quality is top tier.

I love sushi and sashimi. My wife loves ramen. Takka Sushi seems to have a mix of the stuff we both love and at more than fair prices too. The staff seemed very friendly and attentive. The food came out and was well presented. You can tell that they care about their dishes. For appetizers, we ordered the fried calamari ($10.95) which came out nearly stacked with a side of their spicy dipping sauce. Loved it. Wish they added more sauce though. We also ordered vegetable tempura ($8.50). My wife ordered one of their udon ramen bowls. She enjoyed it very much. I can't remember which one she ordered. She also ordered their Rainbow Roll ($17). I ordered their Spider Roll (soft shelled crab roll) ($17), the Hot Lips Roll (scallops and crab, spicy) ($17), and the Sashimi Mix (9 pieces) ($16.95). I loved everything! You get 50% off of all classic rolls and 30% off of special rolls (dine in and to go orders). I will definitely be back, and will also be ordering food for lunch. The sushi here is always really good. The tuna nigiri is always a stand out for us. This is always a treat on a night we have it. You can call an order in for pickup amd eat your sushi anywhere in the city.

Good sushi at a good price. I suggest the “Spanish Roll” and the “Amazing Roll” for something different and tasty. Free refills on Iced Tea or Sodas ($1.95). Only issue I have is that the rolls vary in tightness (Which affects the way you eat) depending on the chefs skill. Also the interior could use a refresher or update(Especially the bathroom). Give them a try.

Have been coming to Takka for years - have definitely noticed a decline in quality of food. Tried the Teriyaki Chicken tonight and was served subpar, chewy, clearly gross presentation for food. The chicken looked like it was old, reheated in the microwave, and slapped with some sauce. Tried to cut into it and it was so rubbery I couldn't even cut it. Our server was understanding and immediately apologized and removed from our check. We ended up leaving - sad to say we won't be back. Mediocre food at best and sadly, plenty of other sushi spots with better quality in the same vicinity. Wish I could give it another shot but I was so grossed out by this meal I cannot step foot back here. The restaurant is clean and staff is friendly, but unfortunately not enough to get us to come back.

I love the prices and the quality is still good! The service is fast on most days, and they always refill your water constantly. Perfect spot for lunch as they have specials and their sushi rolls are 50% and 30% off daily. The place is on the smaller side but there's plenty of booths to accommodate you. The seats do need to get fixed up a bit as some of them are covered with tape.. lol but if you're by yourself, the bar seating area is great. My favorite rolls are the Rainbow and the Spanish roll- which is pretty much a classic lemon roll! Fresh on the palate and they are very generous with their cuts of fish. You usually don't expect much from a sushi joint all the way in Santee but this place is special and I've been going for years!

We came here after the pho place next door was way too crowded. I enjoyed the sushi and thought the fish was fresh. I had them with a Saporro and they provided a chilled glass. The service was a bit slow for my liking. Could have been an off night or something. I'd still come back for another try as the sushi was darn good.

We went for a Friday evening dinner. We got tempuras for appetizer, Hot Lips roll, Rainbow roll, and a spicy baby scallop roll, and a miso soup. My husband got a sapporo too. We got seated right away, food came out quickly and the prices were so reasonable! All together I think the total was about $71 (not including tips). Can't beat that!

Honestly came here with an open mind to try a new sushi place because the sushi place I went to was closed so decided to give this place a try ,service was good but sushi wasn't good at all. It appeared good but not good what so ever . Fried rice was descent with siracha but wouldn't come here again just my opinion.

Our usual sushi place in Santee was closed, no explanation as to why. So Takka sushi was the closest place showing 3 1/2 stars. So we thought we'd give it a try. I ordered the ring of fire, and the volcano roll, as well as some hot green tea and some sake. The green tea and the sake were good, but they also brought out a pretty pathetic little dish of wasabi and ginger. I asked for more wasabi and they brought it. Karen ordered the chicken teriyaki dinner. The dinner was very unimpressive. She barely ate any of it. I really liked the ring of fire., It was very tasty. The volcano roll not so much. You had to cut each piece of the roll in half just to get it in your mouth. It was too big to eat even for me and I'm not a small guy. I wasn't very impressed with the taste either, but it wasn't terrible. One of the irritating things about this place is that they served us both at different times I want my food brought out all at the same time for everybody otherwise people feel rude, eating in front of everybody else that doesn't have anything to eat. That's just wrong wrong wrong. If it wasn't for the volcano role being so tasty I'd give this place two stars. But they took good care of us, came to check on us several times while we were eating, so three stars and not too. But there are better places to eat. I'm sure if you want some sushi. I did enjoy my sake and my green tea, and I tasted some of Karen's miso soup, it was just average. Not the first place I go eat sushi but not the last either, I've had a lot worse.

Came here today for some sushi. Wanted to try a new place for the family. Was thrilled!! The food and fish was so quick & fresh, was gladly surprised how good everything was! Service was great. Staff was kind and chatty. Really enjoyed the suggestions & can't wait to go back. Beers were buy one get a free sake! It was so great. Thank you Takka! We were so happy and definitely will return!! Went out to eat with my family and they wanted to go here so bad because Kung fu tea was next door lol they have a discounted sushi menu but expect to get discounted menu looking & tasting sushi as well. My parents got the bentos and I tried one of the tempura veggies and firstly, tempura is usually lighter shade of brown and these were definitely burnt and tasted like it too. I do like how the discounted sushi are tinier so it's great if you want a snack without breaking the bank. Their specials aren't too bad either. I will say that the service wasn't terrible it's just that after we got our drink order taken, the server goes to the chef and says "I think I'm getting sick, my throat is itchy" like come on now lol I don't need a sick person serving my family right now Overall/ 2.5 stars+ the people were nice, we got served quickly, and didn't get sick.

Been here a couple of times sitting at the sushi bar and have always enjoyed this place. Rolls are good, ambiance is good, service can be inconsistent at times having to wait for drink refills and to order additional food items, etc. but overall it's a nice place.

Great place to eat. Date night spot for my wife and I. Being cash for the discount! Even though they already have great prices.

Delicious rolls and miso soup was so comforting. Tuna was melt in your mouth fresh. Quick service. I like the vibe and art they have up too.

3/17/24 - we went there and ordered several sushi rolls. Small parking lot. Order a few items off the Classic and Special Rolls. Total price was around $70 for 6 rolls. Check out my 2 tips and look at the photos. We love this place. Very good sushi.

A bit torn given the health violations listed on yelp and wait staffs lack of interest. Torn despite these issues, Sushi was fresh. Cream cheese wontons were delicious - creamy and full, not overly doughy. Volcano, happy and Philadelphia rolls were tasty. Only questionable item was the spider roll. For me it was a bit too fishy tasting. Super crowded hole in the wall location but we were able to get seated relatively fast. 10% Discount if you pay cash. Some items have a discount , make sure you get the discount when the check comes.

Made a phone order for Ramen which was a generous serving and had excellent flavor by the way. Was ready in 15 min as expected. They even gave me a 10% discount for using cash. I was only surprised about the price increases so I went ahead and grabbed a menu to show everyone their new prices.

This place already closed once. Just came back after a while and I ordered a rainbow roll and sake. There was a hair in my roll and something disgusting in my friend's drinking cup. Servers and cooks were nice but I will not be coming back here.

The quailty/taste has gone downhill...We've order the teriyaki chicken bento, the teriyaki sauce was too watery, it could be because the chicken seems to be boiled rather than grilled. We also had a beef bento...the beef had an funny taste. This was not the only time we did not enjoy the food. There were other days and I do try to give restaurants a 2nd and 3rd try before I yelp......for the price, we will skip this restaurant

Food and service was great placed order for pick up to take home, also paid cash and received a discount on our order.

We used to come here all the time before Covid and we really liked it. But ever since Covid the service went terrible. I would be asking a question about a menu item and the waiter would just argue with me instead of help me. Takes forever just to get water. Their prices used to be really good for the sushi but the quality of food went down the price went up. We probably won't return.

Great sushi-lots of choices! Excellent service- but servers just wear street clothes- nothing to indicate they work there-not professional. Ambiance is nice, simple, cozy. We love this place!!

As always, Takka provides the best fresh sashimi in town. The service is impeccable and the atmosphere is comfortable. After many years of patronage both pre- during and post pandemic, Takka has continued to perform well with above average service and food.

Love going here for happy hour. Buy a Sapporo and get a free bottle of hot Saki. Sushi rolls are amazing. Love the apps as well such as Monkey balls etc. Gets busy both inside and parking so plan well. Highly recommend..

They precook there meats way ahead of time . Very dry tough and tasteless. Especially their chicken. They do not cook to order

The food was actually pretty good. The issue was that we waited for 45 mins for sushi and it wasn't busy. They also disappeared with our cc for 25 min.

I ordered the teriyaki chicken bento during the weekend. It was not so good. The chicken seemed boiled/steamed rather than grilled like it was supposed to be, it was flavorless, and it seems that they just took some random packet of sauce to place on top of the chicken. A friend ordered the tempura and it was very soggy. This was the third time in a row over the last few months that I did not enjoy this food. It was also definitely not worth the expensive price, many other places offer better food with better cooking techniques at a lower price. I used to like this place a lot years ago but I cannot see myself returning any time soon.

Always good service and great food, along with good prices! The atmosphere of the restaurant is quiet with not too loud music.

Restaurant was closed down by Health Inspector due to vermin (March 2025). I will not be dining here again.

The customer service was going downhill whether it's the owners or the managers that made the food would make the orders incorrectly and then get mad when they had to remake it. This is absolutely disgusting. The place was dirty and run down so we had already stopped going. It's a sealed deal now to never go back, knowing that the health department had to shut them down!!

Foods killer. Monkey balls are my favorite. Id still eat here even though they just got shut down from a rodent infestation. I just watched ratatouille and id pay extra for that experience. 12 / 10 would eat out of their trashcans.

I found bugs in my sushi and I didn't see them wash their hands as they are making the sushi with their bare hands, super disgusting and saw they had a health violation posted yesterday!!

I eat here often and it's consistently good. Not super expensive. Spicy tuna roll, seared tuna tataki shashimi are favorites.

I was very disappointed with our lunch today. The service was just okay...we waited forever for all of our lunches to be out at the same time. My husband ordered the Beef Teriyaki dinner portion. First of all, the beef wasn't cut into strips. Instead it looked like the beef was ground up with some sort of syrup on it. It honestly looked like dog food. He didn't want to return it for fear they may do something to his next order. After we were all done eating, my husband was still hungry. The portions for the Beef Teriyaki were very small. We ended up grabbing pizza for him so he could feel full. Unfortunately I don't plan on coming back anytime soon.

Highly DO NOT recommend this restaurant. Their sushi is below mediocre, and their water taste like it comes from the sink.

Decided to give this place a try given that most of the bad reviews were based on customer service & I was doing take out anyway . * This review is based off on my ONE time ordering take from here . Customer Service -- 8/10 The ladies who helped me (via phone & in-person) were nice, a little unorganized & frantic (maybe due to understaffing) but they did their best! Quality of food -- 6/10 Tempura Veggie Roll -- 6/10 Ive definitely had better . Also it was only 5 pieces, and I was just expecting it to be more . Tempura Veggies -- 6/10 They give you a nice amount! Wasn't as fresh as I'd liked , and they could do less onion . Also the tempura sauce could use summore work . Or they could provide the tempura veggies w teriyaki sauce instead ? I just was not a fan of that sauce :/ Parking -- 6/10 They share a lot w a handful of other businesses , and it's normally pretty busy so you may have to park across the lot . Overall, not too bad . Would likely be a lot better for those who eat seafood ;)

Food was just ok. Service was just ok. The place was nice. Sushi chef was engaging but the rest of the staff just seemed very new or could not be bothered.

Me and my kids eat here often. Snowballs are my favorite. The sushi is great here. They are always super quick to bring the food out and our drinks are always full! Highly recommend.

Delicious food, great service. Maki sampler was the best. Easy to order on the phone and pick up on my way home.

Great meal with my wife. She had poke salad and I had the sashimi over rice that came with Mizo soup. Not usually a great fan of Mizo soup but this one tasted a little different but tasty and complimented the sashimi. I was trying to order without rice but the waiter had a hard time understanding me. The restaurant was nice and cozy and friendly music.

Ok Sushi place. We stopped by because we happened to be close by. I would give it a 3.5. Not fancy but ok for a quick sushi stop. Service was fast. Check came fast and the discounts were applied properly. We got water refilled once. They were out of items I wanted, oysters and quail eggs. Had the albacore nigiri, albacore roll and ikura nigiri. They were all good. The albacore nigiri was marinated in ponzu which I liked. Bathroom smelled very bad, like sewage. But was clean, just an unappetizing experience when you go clean your hands before eating.

This place used to be good but seems like those days are gone. Went recently and the waitress forgot about us as we were waiting for our table to be prepared. Had to remind her after 10 min and she immediately ran away to prep a table. They do not have gluten free soy sauce (first sushi place I've encountered without it). Hot sake was served room temp and the food was mediocre at best. When we asked about a missing item we ordered the waitress told us it was already delivered (when it was not) and continued to argue with us until she checked with the kitchen and found the missing item. Waitress over explained and over confirmed every time we ordered and still got it wrong. Way too much effort for what should have been a simple meal. Would not come back.

Today I went in to get take out, they forgot one of our rolls. We double checked our bag again and our sauces were missing. We asked for eel sauce on our California roll and the chef forgot to add it. We went back in to ask for our sauce ( THAT WE ORIGINALLY ASKED FOR) and the guy at the front was giving us shit about it because they charge extra for eel sauce !!! We got 4 rolls and only gave us one sauce !! They need to be more specific over the phone saying that if we want sauce we need to pay extra. The guy was not nice either I would give it a ZERO for his attitude!

Came back here after a hiatus, but not again. I will say the service was polite, but on two seperate weekends I ordered sushi here (for pick up), and was ill after. The first time I thought maybe it wasn't the sushi, but had it again yesterday and got ill not long after. My daughter said the spicy tuna was inedible, so we tossed it , and my son later told me his rolls (which I shared) didn't taste fresh. I didn't notice much since I eat a lot of ginger. I can't risk it happening again.

sushi's always great, service is nice, and very nice lighting. I've come here for a very long time and have never had any complaints. California Beach is probably my favorite roll there

Best sushi and east county wish customer service was a little better. The food is always good and made to order.

This place used to be top tier, however the food quality has gone down slightly and the prices have gone up. The turnover is quick so it's nice to get your food fairly quickly. The servers are good and make sure you have your water filled. I am loyal to another sushi place now, and I feel like I've broken up with this sushi joint which makes me sad. I will return soon to retest and potentially raise the star.
