LA Coffee Shops With Outdoor Seating - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Located in a beautiful, foliage-covered patio (and perhaps the only place where we’d allow you to publicly propose to someone) Alta Adams’ adjoining coffee and wine shop has everything to satisfy your outdoor dining needs - freshly brewed coffee, takeaway bowls of fried chicken and collard greens, and bottles of specialty wines produced by women and BIPOC, selected by their sommelier, Ruben Morancy." - kat hong

Google
Only had egg & toast & coffee, but it was delicious (diner style, good quality). Lovely place, friendly and affordable.

Google
This is a hidden gem . Been here bunch of times . Why go to Dennys or ihop this place is so much better . 😋 I'll be telling my customers to check it out. I love the loco moco with chashu meat on the side .

Google
Amazing hole in the wall with some seriously ono grindz. Brings me back to Hawai'i for sure. We visited at 11am on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking in the little strip mall, and plenty of seats. Service was great, food came out quickly, and the server was friendly. Loco moco with cha shu fried rice was so delicious, and a huge portion. The Belgian waffles were also big and fluffy. I will definitely be back for more. :)

Google
I’m not a big breakfast person but when it comes to Taks I’ll eat breakfast everyday. I always get the same thing. It’s my fav since childhood.

Yelp
I know of this place nearby but never really went until know. Parking is ample in front and back. The restaurant is small but I went on Saturday at 11:45am and there were plenty of seats. Loco moco: I ordered a loco moco for $15. I think the price was very affordable. 5/5 Denver omlette: The omelette was also $15 with rice. 5/5. The 2 strips of bacon and orange juice were $5-6 each and I think that is expensive. Service was quick. And I have nothing to complain about. There is a $1 charge if paid with debit or credit though. Overall I would come back to this restaurant.

Yelp
The food is great, especially for the price. Food came out fast and hot. The service we received felt like as if we were regulars. Even the true regulars that come in talk like they are good friends, which they might even be. The atmosphere of the place gives family owned and managed. Great for parties of 5 or less because it is not very big. I will definitely come back here again

Yelp
Everything about this place was great. Wonderful breakfast. Great option for varied palates and I see why local folks love it so much!!! Will definitely be starting my day here more frequently! Staff are great and the food comes quickly. Love the vibe of the space. Food was so good no pics this time.

Yelp
This place has been in the community for a long time. But it's my first time there and we got our order to go of chicken wings and waffles Because they were about to close but the owner and the staff was pleasant and friendly, It's a nice little cozy breakfast spot

Yelp
This was a revisiting to an old family spot. Still had the Portuguese sausage with Grits and eggs. (Amazing) If you are looking for a reliable bite and a great atmosphere GO!!!

Yelp
Smdh look down at older reviews this place has been putting hair in customers food !! Check there were a few on the pancakes just a year ago. It was a black hair and a freaking pancake for God sake y'all are nasty.
google avatar

Yelp
Old time vibe coffeeshop. Great quality food. Best thing for me is they serve Apffels coffee!

Yelp
I'm not sure who gave all those reviews!! But this ain't it. Gritty grit Fatty chicken Rubbery pancakes The eggs barely missed the review Every damn thing about this whole week my head hurting

Yelp
This was my spot for a very long time, the breakfast is pretty basic coffee house breakfast prices are fair. The lady that work the front are always nice and welcoming I can always appreciate good customer service. The real star is the Hawaiian side of the menu, the loco moco never fails sometimes I get it over fried rice. The char su fried rice is my absolute favorite I can't eat here and not get it.
google avatar

Yelp
You just can't go wrong with this fine little "blast from the past" diner. The only problem is it's just too small to accommodate the waiting morning diners who want a great breakfast. We've eaten here for the past 20 or more years and it's been a favorite: clean, friendly, fresh, and the food is always on point. I was surprised to see any negative reviews but looked again and noticed they might be from "out of towners" who just don't get the vibe here. Stay strong Tak's - your community loves you!

Yelp
Nice comfy place old vibe dinner coffe good food good and people are friendly will definitely come back if ever in the area.

Yelp
What a wonderful little diner my girlfriend found here on Crenshaw for breakfast! Lilly was our waitress and she was fantastic. The place was full and she handled every table with a smile on her face and a great attitude. Everyone seemed to be taken care of and happy for the most part. I saw the lady next to us yell at her and she came over to us with a smile on her face like nothing happened. They don't make 'em like that anymore! I had the Loco Moco and must say that this is a nice piece of culinary genius! This place is a fusion of Hawaiian, Asian and American and this dish was just the right mix. Sometimes you just need a greasy beef patty done to diner perfection but here they served it over rice, with an egg served over easy on top and all that was topped with delicious gravy and grilled onions that gave it the perfect amount of zip! It was so delicious. My girlfriend got the same thing but instead of a beef patty, she substituted for spam (a Hawaiian delicacy) and it was fantastic as well. On a side note, extra butter is 35 cents and extra syrup is 50 cents. It also says cash only but they accept credit for a buck extra. This place was exactly what the doctor ordered for this brisk Sunday morning and a 5 star recommendation.

Yelp
The service was great. It was popular at lunchtime for a reason. But not too crowded. The chicken salad sandwich was delicious.

Yelp
Small coffee shop/diner with a large selection of American and Japanese(!) dishes, along with some Hawaiian food as well. Really nice and genuine vibe, the food is tasty and reasonable, the service is prompt and friendly, and it's reminiscent of the days when you went to eat a a local, family-owned (which it is) place, instead of at big (and not as good) places like IHOP and Denny's. If you're in the area check them out!

Yelp
You just can't hi wrong with breakfast here! My family has enjoyed this restaurant for at least 30 years. We love coming here for the familial hospitality we've come to love and expect. This is no frills but comfy. Not too many places make grits as perfectly as they do, and if you're looking for something a little different for breakfast, the loco moco is the way to go. You can't go wrong with anything you order.

Dylan W.

Yelp
Great service and reasonable prices. This restaurant has been in the neighborhood for generations. I love their Spam fried rice.
google avatar

Leah M.

Yelp
Char siu with rice, over medium eggs with gravy!!! Need I say more!! Definitely worth a visit when I am in town!! Love the flavor and the shop is cute and the staff is quite friendly!!

Yelp
My team at work decided they wanted to go out for breakfast and this was that place of choice. Their options were so good it was hard to choose. I ended up with the French Toast Special and was so happy with my choice. The French Toast Special comes with french toast, 4 wings, and eggs. I loved every bit of it and couldn't have been happier. I would definitely go back to try more options.

Meg P.

Yelp
My family spends at least 500 or more a month between take outs deliveries and eating in. The last 2 times I've been there the 2 main ladies have been rude. They know us and refuse 2 people to sit at a table that can be divided. On top of that this last time we sat at the bar top for at least 15 min waiting for a booth. No acknowledgment no offer of a cup of coffee to the elderly man that spends and tips well...I won't be back...U guys need us black folks to boycott...Unacceptable service...And they charge 1.50 per lemon slice for water...Ridiculous!!!
google avatar

Daren M.

Yelp
Maybe the best Loco Moco I've had - certainly the best Loco Moco gravy. A great neighborhood joint with a varied menu - something for everyone.

Yelp
My partner and I stumbled upon this place by a happy accident. We live locally in the area and have been on a mission to support as many local businesses as possible. They open EARLY! We called at 6:30am to ask questions about their menu and they were already up and running. This is a small diner type of place. Just the kind of atmosphere we were looking for. The server was a GEM. She immediately recognized we hadn't been there before. She went over the menu, asked us questions and gave us a brief history of the place. It showed that she really cared about her job and giving us the best experience. Pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Bacon was just the way I like it, CRISPY! The coffee was actually excellent for a diner. The price point? Cant beat prices like that. We had a ton of food leftover so I took the rest home with me for lunch. We'll definitely be regulars from now on.

Yelp
This is my spot. Great customer service, cool vibe, amazing food. Perfect portions. Food is really good. Don't miss out on this restaurant.

Yelp
招き猫 Always great food and service at Tak's Coffee Shop. Good combination of American and Asian food. I like the chicken wings; they remind me of Japanese karaage.

Annette A.

Yelp
Truly a quaint intimate restaurant tucked in the historic Leimert park neighborhood. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is excellent!

Yelp
First timer & it was so good! I got a bacon and egg sandwich on sourdough. Best decision ever ! The bacon was crispy the tomato was juicy . Just the right amount of mayo and the egg was cooked perfectly. 10/10 would recommend
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
Been coming here since day 1. Always great food and service. Love the ladies here. I always get the same things, Cha Shu or loco moco but I get the loco moco all kinds of different ways. Never disappoints.
google avatar

Spike L.

Yelp
Decent breakfast, proof of vaccination required to dine in. I ordered OJ, water, Loco Moco, egg over medium with english muffin. Only downside, bill was $20.50, after my tip $25 (its the holiday) overcharged! Loco Moco $15.75, menu $12.55
google avatar

Susanne W.

Yelp
Fair prices, relaxed and happy breakfast vibes, and a surprise candidate for some of the best wings in town.

Ralph L. D.

Yelp
Service is always spot on! Food is fresh and tasty. My only gripe is one that is common with most restaurants! When I order eggs over medium they are served over easy! 8 out of 10 are guilty of this it seems. Cooks don't seem to know how to cook eggs over medium!

Yelp
This is my second time going this week. Definitely one of my new favorite lowkey breakfast spots. It's a Hawaiian and Asian influenced breakfast/lunch dishes. Prices are great. They have traditional egg, toast, potato, and meat breakfast plates. Some griddle breakfast options like pancakes and French toast. They have spam! Which I haven't tried yet but think I will try next visit. the first day I went I had Tommy's Loco Moco which is rice and hamburger patty, topped with eggs, gravy and onion. But instead of rice I got hash browns and just wow. Incredible. Today I got the chicken wing breakfast which comes with 6 chickens wings (a generous amount for the price in my opinion, eggs, and potatoes (I got country style diced potatoes which are $1 extra). The chicken wings are perfectly cooked. Next visit I will try them with the waffles or pancakes. Service is great. Food came out fast. There's so many awesome things on the menu that I'm looking forward to trying!

Yelp
Delivers Patrons satisfaction! Food is soul satisfying, and as for ambience; it's a welcoming café environment. And not too pricy.

Yelp
Small diner/coffee shop for a quick breakfast. It is located in the cut and cannot be seen from Crenshaw, but when I was in there it seemed to be popular. It was a Thursday morning and there was a steady flow of customers. There are about 7 or 8 booths and a counter with about 10 seats, so it is not good for parties larger than 4. The food was good, but as others mentioned this is not the place to go if you expect top notch customer service. Also, the restaurant takes CASH ONLY with no ATM so be prepared.

Ray Roz K.

Yelp
We moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and had a chance to check this place out this morning. Old school diner vibe. Standard diner menu but with an extra page with a Hawaiian twist. I got the French toast "sandwich plate," which was a smaller portion of the French toast special with one egg, 2 pieces of bacon, and 2 pieces French toast. It was very tasty and I appreciate that they have a smaller portion so I didn't have to feel like a glutton or be wasteful. My partner got the pork noodles and they were SO DELICIOUS. Just like this saimin spot we love in Kauai. Broth was flavorful, noodles were plentiful and cooked perfectly, and the pork was so tender and delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Good food and also affordable and the food servers are super sweet !! I enjoy dining out, especially if the food is delish....thanks Tak !!

Yelp
This coffee shop is reminensent of my teen years ... my favorite uncle owned this shop, which was called Mojo's. Another uncle had his hair salon, Mikado's also in Crenshaw Square! I had chicken wings and waffles. My cousin let me take home her chicken salad sandwich and onion rings. Everything was delicious. Kinda like "Cheers." Where everyone knows your name, the regulars, and very accommodating. I saw a man taking up a booth and moved his food to the counter, so an elderly woman and her caregiver daughter could sit in the booth.
google avatar

Salvador D.

Yelp
Little "hole-in-the-wall" vibe, but truly worth it. Their Moco Loco is superb. I definitely will come to try out other things.
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
We received great reviews about this place so we tried it this morning as we were dog sitting up the street. We ordered two corn beef hash meals and a side of pancakes to go. We got back home after picking it up and the corn beef and hash was dry and the pancakes were soggy as if they weresitting there all morning. Very disappointed with the meals, the presentation and for spending $30 dollars just to end up making breakfast at home :( Also, there was a HAIR in our pancakes! Proof in the picture. I hate that i have to at least give 1 star. -rob

Yelp
The food was ok and the servings were large. I ordered the loco moco and the Tak's special breakfast on separate occasions. It's possible I would order from here again.
google avatar

Kellen S.

Yelp
Tak's is a great local spot. 110% better than Denny's or iHop. They also have a wide range of items in addition to your traditional breakfast dishes. Some Asian dishes and chicken wing dishes etc. Everything I've had there has been really good. Staff is excellent as well! I take my daughter here every weekend!
google avatar

Yelp
Never been to this place right in the heart of the Chrenshaw area. We came in a group of 3 and loved the diner style food and family style service. Turkey burger and fries was pretty good. The chicken wing breakfast which comes with eggs hash brown and toast. Lots of variety on the menu from American to Japenese food available on the menu. Definitely a LA city gem.

Darryl M.

Yelp
The Food at Tak's is delicious and the service is great, I highly recommend you try it.

Regina T.

Yelp
Been a good staple in the community good food good service love chicken wings and grits with cheesy eggs and cup of job
google avatar

Yelp
Great neighborhood coffee shop! Small and quaint with a simple menu and storied history. The menu is a testament to the original Chinese owners and their blending of Chinese and American breakfast items.
google avatar

Yelp
What can I say. Been eating with Mary and now Chino since Holiday Bowl days (yes I'm old, don't remind me). A not so typical hole in the wall. Food is excellent, service is friendly and coffee is always hot. What sets Tak's apart is the sense of community that happens there. People are sitting around eating a good meal and enjoying each others company ( maybe too much enjoyment when I'm waiting,I want to sit down and eat). But I digress, good food, good people =a happy me. We all need some happy now and then.
google avatar

Monique W.

Yelp
Food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. Don't expect a high end looking establishment, it's a nice cozy little neighborhood spot. I had waffles, which were recommended by my server, scrambled eggs and homestyle potatoes.

Julian A.

Yelp
One of the best cafe's around. Authentic food and people. It's the go to spot !!! One of the best cafe's around. Authentic food and people. It's the go to spot

Yelp
Old school diner with an Asian influence. Coffee was good, food was really good and look forward to going back
google avatar

Yelp
Taks is a staple in the Leimert area. Prior to the pandemic it was almost impossible to get a table by walking in because it was everyone's favorite place to eat good food for breakfast and lunch. There's such a variety of American, Hawaiian, Chinese and Japanese dishes it's always hard to choose! I'm so glad they made it through the pandemic!!
google avatar

Dulce C.

Yelp
After a year I came to give it a second shot, from my perspective, nothing has changed. Breakfast was substantial & plain, nothing wrong with that, average price per person $15.00 French toast needs some work some cinnamon world be nice on the egg batter and some powder sugar on the top. Coffee can be just a tab more stronger, Tuna sandwich was not the greatest, please place fresh lettuce, you can see some oxidation at the end of the leaf. And still the situation of the cash only deal, you only pay 3% for the card service, it's worth it. But if your trying to avoid paying to Uncle Sam I understand why the cash only situation. Just small details that can do a difference.
