Talanoa Treks

Matt and Marita have created something very special in Talanoa Treks. I joined them for a trial of a 25km highland run over the weekend and wow - such an awesome way to see parts of Fiji that visitors rarely get the chance to enjoy. Their deep engagement with local communities is fantastic to see. The run itself was a big challenge, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed. They had all the supports in place for me to complete it safely and with a smile on my face despite it being the biggest run of my life to date!

Brilliant tour experience company. Matt and Marita have clearly invested significant time and effort developing trips and working with local communities to ensure memorable experiences. All at TT are very friendly and knowledgeable about Fiji and the particular places they take you to. I went on the waterfall trip - fantastic experience all round. If I was around for longer I'd be booking in for more.

Talanoa Treks is an amazing initiative offering it's customers a different experience from the sandy beaches and delves into discovering the beautiful green landscapes of the heart of Fiji. Matt and Marita have worked extremely hard to connect tourists to the 'real Fiji' and bring sustainable incomes home to these villages. Give them a go. Take a trek and talanoa through it all. 🙂

Provides a wonderful trekking experience for those who want to experience the beauty and culture that Fiji offers. A great range of walks for all abilities and exposure to Fijian village life. Opportunities to jump into waterfalls, swim in rivers and chat with expert guides who partner with communities is all of offer for anyone who wants to get off the beaten track.

Marita, Etuate and George from Talanoa Treks accompanied me and the rest of my University group on an amazing trip through and around the island of Viti Levu, Fiji. The relationship that the team at Talanoa Treks have established with the local villagers and communities throughout the island made for an amazing cultural experience which was also complimented by the expert opinions and information provided by all 3 of them surrounding the conservation and environmental issues Fiji is currently facing. All that plus amazing scenery, breathtaking waterfalls and new Fijian friends. I can truly say i am absolutely wrapped with the experience and it exceeded my expectations. Thank you all!

Our three-night trek added a whole new dimension to our Fiji experience. The reefs and beaches of the outer islands are amazing, but so is the welcoming culture of the Viti Levu highlands. Thanks to Matt and the local village guides (especially Etu and Sulu), we learned much more about Fiji and saw more dimensions of Fiji, than we could have on the outer islands. The greatest suprise of the trek was the food in the villages - far superior to what we got at the island resorts (which was quite good in its own right!).

What to Expect: A great group of expats and local guides giving fantastic hikes of Viti Levu's most beautiful peaks. I took one of their hikes on Batilamu Peak, and though it was so much more challenging than I was prepared for, I cannot say enough good things about Etu and all of his help. My only complaint is that they don't do enough hikes on the weekends for non-tourists like myself, but otherwise they're great. I look forward to another hike with them soon!
