Google
We had an amazing tour of the Talisker Distillery, led by a man named George. He was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly experienced, explaining every part of the process in great detail and answering all of Magda’s (many!) questions with patience and enthusiasm. What really stood out was the personal touch he brought to the tour — it never felt rushed, and he made the whole experience feel special. The final part of the tour, stepping into the room filled with casks, was a perfect finish and really brought the craft of Talisker to life. We ended the visit in the shop where we bought the 2025 Distillers Edition — absolutely delicious — and I also picked up one of the 27-year-old Elements Edition single malts. A fantastic tour and a fantastic shop, made even better by a fantastic guide. George has only been there three years, but he’s already making a real difference. An unforgettable experience and a brilliant way to spend my birthday. Highly recommended!

Google
Super impressed by the tour of the distillery and overall by the huge world of Whisky to which Talisker offers an iconic entry. Our guide Ann was so friendly and informative, tour is recommended also to those like me with zero knowledge or past tasting experience. The smell indeed tells a big story. Worth the drive and stop, also great facility for visitors and huge shop

Google
Really enjoyed the chocolate and scotch tasting. Eve did a great job and was a total gem. Book ahead for the distillery tour, we missed out. Gift shop is pricey but has good variety. Easy parking and pretty location.

Google
Nice distillery. We didn’t do the tour, just stopped by for a tasting. We were surprised at how expensive the whisky was compared to the same bottles sold in grocery stores and duty-free shops. I would have expected better deals on-site, or at least prices matching retail for the same products.

Anna-Milena S.

Google
Ian was a great tour guide. He explained everything and answered all questions. It was very impressive to see the process and also to hear about the sustainable actions for the island. I do recommend the tour. Even if you don't drink - or if you have to drive they provide little bottles to take with you.

Google
🏴 The oldest distillery on the Isle of Skye! 🥃 If you love whisky, this place is an absolute must-visit. 👨‍🏫 The tour guide was knowledgeable and gave a clear, detailed introduction to the whisky-making process, from start to finish. ✨ The atmosphere was authentic and full of history, making the whole experience very special. 🤔 Personally, since I don’t know much about whisky, I couldn’t fully appreciate all the details — but for whisky enthusiasts, it would be a real highlight of the trip!

Google
Fabulous setting and good parking, although good to have a designated driver. We did the 1 hour tour and it was ok, but the guide (mark) although friendly was not particularly knowledgeable. Did a tasting of 3 whisky which were good. The bar area is mainly bar stools and there is a shop with other whiskeys available. Need to book in advance.

Google
Great tour and tasting. Guide, Grant, was on point, smiling and insightful. We had the 10.30 am tour and was able to get “drivers kit” for the whisky. Definitely worth the price. And a lovely shop they have which also included some Islay whisky. You get 10% off if you went on a tour.

Yelp
An Isle of Skye Scotch distillery, it's a local favorite that's also enjoyed all over the world. They offer tours which looked really interesting but I don't think my kids could handle it so I came in for a tasting from their menu. The tasting bar is located inside the gift shop which sells a lot of branded clothing and some interesting desserts and snacks made with their scotch. Gift shop is large and organized and on the right side, the left side is where The tasting bar is. It's distilled by the sea and that is enohasized on a lot of their branding. It's more of a romantic image while you take a sip but the flavor is smoky and peat-y. I had the 25 year Talikser and it matched the brief description very well "earthy, volcanic, salt". If you want a longer description the sign near the bottles for sale has "nose, body, palette, finish, and perfect serve". This was an expensive 32 pounds a dram but they had a 27 year for 66 and what's probably a mind melting 30 year that was 110! The bartenders know everything about every year so ask if you have any questions! Overall I loved my fast experience here though I think I would have had more fun if I joined the tour. I bought a hat here as a keepsake and the only bummer is the logo is silkscreen printed on and not embroidered so it's not going to last as long.

Yelp
Beautiful distillery and beautiful location. The only thing available for us was a tasting. One of the neater tastings I've done! It was super interactive, and the person leading us through the tasting was terrific. I also loved the tasting room! So neat! The gift shop where we had to wait was also really cool. I spoke with a couple of the employees. Being that I am from Kentucky, they wanted to get my take on Scotch and how I like it compared to bourbon. And vice versa, to be honest. It was a fun little conversation. Ultimately, I'd like to come back to Talisker and spent a bit more time. I reckon the full experience may just bump this guy up to a 5*.

Yelp
Beautiful distillery and visiting area. Welcoming bar environment with plenty of tasting options and cocktails if whisky alone is not your preference. Ended up going for the tour, which takes about an hour and includes a tasting at the end. Of note, if you do end up doing the tour (which you arrange in advance and pay for), you can get a discount for anything in the store. I enjoyed the tour as a way to learn more about the distilling process. The tasting was of 3 very different whiskys, and if you are driving, they give you little vials to pour them into and enjoy them at a later time. If you're in the area, definitely recommend stopping by!

Yelp
Whiskey and new friends - A perfect stop in Skye! This was the second distillery on our Scotland adventure, and wow--what a gem! The drive there was a dream--calm roads, stunning scenery, and then *bam*, a beautiful waterfront greeting us as we arrived. Walking in, we were met with cool decor and an even cooler bartender who kept the vibes lively. My partner went for a whiskey flight and got a real taste of that smoky peat moss goodness--he was in heaven. Meanwhile, I explored the gift shop, soaked up some history, and somehow ended up making new Irish friends (whiskey really is a universal language). The bartender even joined in on the fun, making it an even more memorable experience. We skipped the tour this time since we had one at our first distillery and another lined up for our third, but honestly, just hanging out here was an experience in itself. Great whiskey, great company, and a stunning location--10/10 would come back!

Yelp
The people that work here are so funny and super friendly. We chatted it up with the bartender and sales people, they took the time to meet everyone going inside either for a gift shop buy, drinks at bar or tasting. It's worth the trip and worth the drink! Drink the best first then go to the lower end barrels. By the time you get to the low end you won't care lol

Yelp
Very good informative tour and tasting experience. Had an additional drink on the tap room to try a couple other scotches. Gift shop has a lot to choose from in order to bring back the perfect souvenir or bottle.

Yelp
Worth a visit while in Portree...beautiful, modern facilities and delicious whisky! We did not have time for the tour, but took full advantage of the great, reasonably priced tasting. The tasting room was beautiful and reasonably priced and Talisker has a lot of great options as far as whisky preferences are concerned. Enjoyed tasting the Talisker 10, Skye, Dark Storm, and Distiller's Edition as well as teh Talisker 18 (which was delicious)! Staff were friendly and professional, but a bit rushed. Overall a solid 4-star experience.

Yelp
Really great distillery to visit. It was part of our Rabbies tour of Skye. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
We stopped at the formally only distillery on the isle of Skye (now it's the oldest) for a tour of the facility and for a tasting. The tour is around 45 minutes - 1 hour and is pretty interesting, especially seeing some of the older equipment they use. For £10 you get the tour and a tasting of one of their scotch whiskeys which is a fair value. I tried the 25 year and it is delicious. They usually have at least one bottle you can't buy anywhere but the distillery. If you are going in the summer be prepared for a bit of a mad house. The distillery gets VERY busy and can be a bit stressful. If you're a fan of whiskey or scotch in particular I recommend stopping if you're in Skye to try some of their peaty, delicious booze!

Yelp
We booked our distillery tour plenty of time in advance, and I'm glad we did, it was sold out. And with good reason! The new guest facility and whisky shop is nothing less than spectacular. Our tour guide was Allison, she was knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and was very charming. Oh, and the whisky is obviously wonderful. Do it!

Yelp
We arrived as a tour group and we were not able to get a tour of the distillery for some reason. We went to the gift shop and still were not able to get any tasting flights of the Scotch for some reason. Our guide had to pretty please the staff and eventually, we all got samples of Talisker Storm, but I was hoping for some distillery-exclusive drams. Inside the gift shop were several bottles to take home including some very rare ones. However, the experience wasn't too different from a duty-free shop as we missed out on the tour.

Yelp
The wife and I arrived a few minutes before the 200pm tour. There was only one space left for this tour and the gal said they can't go one person over the limit. Is one person more that big of a deal? We didn't want to wait around for an hour for the next tour. And unlike Oban and Dalwhinnie, they don't have a tasting bar. Lame. We looked around for a couple minutes, used the toilets, and left.

Yelp
We stopped in knowing the tours were booked, so I am only reviewing the tasting. I chose the elite flight- it came with incredibly large pours of 3 scotches, that ran the gamut of honeyed to a bit smoky/peppery to full bodied, sherry cask aged. You also get water and dropper in case you want to add a few drops to open up the flavors. I was feeling pretty buzzed (I'm a cheap date. HAHAHA), so it was good the Old Inn was down the road so I could get some food in me. Definitely worth a stop!

Yelp
My advice? Schedule your tour so that it is later in the day. Somehow I ended up touring here at 9:30 in the morning which meant I was drinking Scotch well before lunch. Oh . . .so you don't think that's unusual? You must be a Scotsman! Our tour started with a generous pour of 10 year old Scotch I liked the fact that they have you taste it two ways- on it's own and then with a few drops of water to raise the oils (or something like that) The tour then begins with a discussion and demonstration of each of the parts of the distillery. The tour ends in the gift shop (as all tours do) allowing you to buy discounted product or souvenirs to take home. For this gal- I loved the t-shirts with the longitude and latitude of the location of the distillery running up the arm. BIG discussion starter every time I wear the darn thing! Certainly a worthwhile tour if you find yourself on the Isle of Skye. Oh- and the road to the distillery is a hoot as well. Seems there is a "Tattie bogle trail" (sp?). This is a series of scarecrows lined up at points along the road depicting some of the funniest scarecrows I have ever seen. My favorites had to be the Queen Mother as well as the guy bending over showing some "skin" between his shirt and pants. But Harry Potter is there as well. Just something to look for along the way!

Yelp
This is my second visit to Talisker and having now had an interim visit to Islay I was disappointed in Talisker . Essentially , as the only distillery on the island , it serves as a must for many tourists of which there are many . Owned by Diagio it feels more like a money making machine and lacked the warmth of Islay hospitality . The distillery shop is busy and many opt to purchase products here . As well as Talisker products they also sell other Diagio brands such as Lagavulin , Oban and Caol Isla . The distillery tour is busy and should be booked in advance and costs 8 pounds per person . An increase from 6 pounds 2 years ago . The tour is interesting and there is an opportunity for a wee dram at the end . I personally preferred Islay and the fact that there are 9 distilleries they are much more customer orientated .

Yelp
I have been on many a distillery tour but no-one has impressed me as much as the woman who led me on a tour around the Talisker distillery. There is no question, however obscure, that she cannot answer. The tour starts, as it should, with a wee dram in a kind of lounge area filled with old photographs and scraps of tales and legends of Skye and Talisker. I was actually quite glad that the tasting came first because after walking through the distillery the smell had turned me a little nauseous. We were walked through each part of the working distillery taking in every single part of the process, from the sourcing of spring water to the burning of the barrels. One of the most interesting things I learned was that if Skye goes just a few of days without any rain, they have to shut down. It even takes a couple more days to start back up because they have to allow the natural environment its share of rainwater before they snatch it up for the whisky. Talisker is the only whisky distillery on the Isle and the location is gorgeous. Well worth making a little time for a visit. You also get 20% of a bottle with your tour ticket.

Yelp
I loved this place. It was probably my 5-6 distillery tour and felt the most "real." The feeling of the place just is so different, it's by the water, and you can smell the air that goes into the whisky (dunno if that's true but i smell it whenever I drink it now). Our tour guide had been there for years and felt comfortable answering all our questions and showing off the distillery. We had a wonderful tasting after the tour and really learned a lot about the flavors and what makes the distillery special! We took home a bottle of the storm as well as the 18 year. After the tour and tasting we even went for a little walk across the street on the shoreline, lovely outing.

Yelp
This tour is a definite "must do" for Isle of Skye visitors. Internet sign up closes 48 hrs in advance (best for a convenient time-slot) but walk-ups are sometimes available too. Plan ahead and don't get shut out. We were lucky and happened to have Louise as our tour guide -- but I suspect all the guides are great. This is about a 45-min. tour with detailed explanations of the malting, fermentation, distillation and maturation processes. You observe this all closeup, depending on what's happening in the distillery at that moment. For instance, no barley was in the drying process but the huge copper vessel where this takes place was warm and toasty. The fermentation tanks were open for viewing through windows down into the humongous casks, something that might not be available on those days when they're steam-cleaning the 53,000 liter wooden casks. You may not see much actually going on in the distillery on the tour other than the slow drying of sprouting barley, the murky bubbling of the fermentation process, the imagined flow of alcohol vapors, or the silent "resting" of rows of wooden casks of whisky that may have been sitting there, undisturbed, since long before you were even born. Finally, there is a really cool whisky tasting (with a rather generous pour) where you learn to appreciate what just several drops of water can do to enhance the wonderful Talisker whisky. (They use a special pipette.) Louise was the very best guide, pleasant and energetic while making sure everyone was involved in the tour. She helped us in the shop too, offering us a sample of the Talisker Distillery Exclusive. You won't regret spending some of your valuable holiday time on this adventure.

Yelp
I really liked this distillery. I think the whisky is excellent and the facilities are very nice. The tasting room was reasonably priced and Talisker has a lot of great options as far as whisky preferences are concerned. About my only real complaint here is that the price difference in bottles was pretty large; the Talisker 10, Skye, Dark Storm, and Distiller's Edition are reasonably priced and excellent whiskys, but then their high end whiskys, like the Port Ruighe, 18, 25, and Neist Point were pretty expensive. So I'd give them 5/5 on quality of whisky and facilities, but 3/5 on the pricing for their better bottles.

Yelp
It just wasn't what I expected. I want to start by saying that I was a huge Talisker fan going into it. I had a bottle of the no-frills 10 year kicking around and it was one of my favorites. So consider this narrowly as a review of the distillery and not what comes out of it. It was just kind of tacky: an entire place obviously and inartfully focused on branding itself. The drive there takes you through a solid four hours of downright stunning middle-of-nowhere, and at the end there is this highly stylized experience with an obvious script and lots of iffy graphic design. I don't know what I expected, maybe four pensioners sitting in an old room pouring you whiskey until you couldn't stand. I don't know. Whatever it was, this wasn't it. Additionally, some of the other distilleries offer free tours and tastes, but not here. And all you get is a wee dram at the end. It's one of the only places I have visited that made me feel worse about the product.

Yelp
One of many distillieris in Scotland that have sold out to big business and lost their charm in the process, I am afraid. This is one of them. This place has a fabulous location and has been making single malts for generations but the shop is more corporate than I would have expected. It failed to deliver on the unique experience and it was all about selling the whiskey and little or no personal touch. Did not get to do the tour as it was full but probably not a place I would visit again.

Doris S.

Yelp
Our Skye tour stopped at this distillery. The room was very busy with people as it was a rainy day. We did not have time for a tour, but I did try one of their 25yr old whiskeys and it was great! I also bought a Talisker 10 bottle -- great smoky single malt whiskey! The museum was nice and informative also! Stop here if you like Single Malt Whiskey! Great staff/service also.
google avatar

Gem S.

Yelp
Really interesting morning - great tour, very informative and not too long. The added whiskey tasting at the end was a welcome surprise! And I discovered that I don't find whisky quite so offensive with water. The shop is very well stocked and we came away with some stock for the bar at home!
google avatar

Yelp
When on the Isle of Skye visit the only Malt Whisky distillery there is! Talisker is one of the (now) 12 big Scottish Whisky names. The tour is interesting and you get a dram of whisky at the end of the tour. Talisker is one of the more peaty tasting whiskies and is definitively one of my favorites. Buy a bottle here and you save at least 6 pounds compared to the down town shops. Your entry ticket (6 pounds per person) to the distillery gives you a 3 pound discount and the bottle prices are already some 3 pounds lower to start with.

Emmanuel R.

Yelp
Hello, i have been to your distillery today and I bought a 10 year old Talisker whisky 41 pounds in Carbost. Surprisely, I found exactly the same in Inverness' Tesco for 30 pounds . How can you justify this! As tourists , do you consider me as a cash cow. I hope you will explain that to me...
google avatar

Amber L.

Yelp
We stopped here expecting there wouldn't be a tour, as it listed they weren't doing them on the website, but luckily we were able to get a tour for the four of us for £8 each. The tour was informative and lasted about 45 minutes, as they take you through each stage of how they make Talisker. I agree with the others in that is it very branded and they don't offer any tasters in the shop. Unless you do a tour there isn't must to see. We were able to taste the Talisker Storm at the end, which none of us really liked. We did enjoy the tour and having not visited any other distillery, we didn't have any expectations. The location is stunning, but it certainly doesn't have that small distillery feel, as everything does feel very big business for a very small place. The distillery is pretty cool and our tour guide was very knowledgeable, but we left wondering why Talisker is producing so many newer whiskeys, as she explained the Storm, etc. have no ages and after 3 years, the distillers can add whatever flavours they want to achieve a different taste, which is then bottled under a new name. We must prefer the traditional taste of the 10 year for sure. Oh, the ticket also offers £5 a bottle if you want to buy one in the shop.
