Went to see the Niagra Mohawk building, saw this place across the steet and decided to stop in. Exceptional craft beer, we tried a dozen different beers. They all taste like they are supposed to, ales, lagers, IPAs, even the kölsch. Nothing was hoppy as you get with most craft beers, nobody like eating flowers. Definitely recommend to stop in, if you are thirsty or even if you're not. More of a beer drinker than photographer.

Google
Excellent on all levels. Timely and informative responses to online inquiries (Alexis). Attentive, friendly and helpful staff (everyone). Great service (Candance?) Delicious food (I was lucky enough to be there for Mac-n-chz flights - the chopped beef Mac is phenomenal!) Good beer. And decadent deserts to die for!

Andrew Parker

Google
Best brewery in Syracuse. Unmatched variety of styles on tap, without sacrificing quality. Stealthily one of the best kitchens downtown.

Google
Great experience here evey time. It's becoming one of our regular spots. I don't really drink beer but the staff is always super awesome about helping my boyfriend pick beers to try. They do a Wednesday deal for $10 burger n beer which is an excellent deal. They also have gluten free buns and GF drink options! I will come back. Outside of the burgers, I know the mini reubens and pretzel are snack great choices.

Google
Really cool new spot downtown. Excellent selection of beer. They're hoping to have outdoor seating come Summertime. Staff is very friendly and the setting is really cozy. The parking is super easy, plenty of street parking. The quality of the beer is really good. There are definitely some great foundations for "staple" beers. Would highly recommend checking out this spot!

Google
CRAFTY BEER & FOODIE FOOD!! We visit craft breweries frequently, but have rarely seen the perfect merger of delicious chef inspired food AND a great selection of crafted beer. Talking Cursive accomplishes both. We spent several hours on a Saturday afternoon sampling the beer and food, and had a fantastic time. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the service is top notch. If you enjoy the true craft brewery experience, Talking Cursive is a MUST STOP.

Google
Had my Bf’s surprise 60th birthday there, very casual and chill and Talking Cursive and their staff made it the best!! As always, food and drink is wonderful there, but the staff was amazing with all the requests and accommodations, even going so far as to reserve seating for us, which was a wonderful surprise for me! Was our favorite local brewery before, despite fact that they have yet to bring back the orange creamsicle brew (it’s ok, I’m patient, but it’s THAT GOOD), and found a new favorite, coconut cream; seriously folks, go there. You. Will. Not. Regret. It. It’s literally that good. ❤️

Google
Delicious drinks and food specials! This was one of the best breweries I've been to as far as food goes!

Yelp
My husband and I decided to go to talking cursive on a random Saturday. We haven't been in a while and they've really stepped up their food and drink options. My husband got a beer flight. I'm not a beer person so I got a cocktail with strawberries, basil and bourbon and it was delicious! We also ordered pretzels and a Korean BBQ mac and cheese bowl. Both were excellent!

Yelp
File this in the "places I thought I'd reviewed but realized I never have" category. A great local brewery in the heart of downtown, smack dab across from the gorgeous Niagara Mohawk building. The space is somewhat small so I imagine it can be tricky to nab a table here if you come at a popular time. Good variety of beers, lots of nice sours. I love that you can get tiny taster glasses because I'm a lightweight and it's nice to be able to have just a little, or to try a few different beers if I'm staying a while. Food is excellent. Their naan pizza is super tasty. I want to come back and try more on their menu, especially since I see they have fun events like special flight nights where they serve flights of food and beers. I've only ever have heard good things about this place and only have good things to say about it from my experience!

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick drink. The girls at the bar were super friendly. Definitely get the flight ($12).
google avatar

Yelp
Cool little brewery with outdoor seating. My husband and I came and got a couple of flights. The beer was good. They have a limited food menu, but the naan pizza is quite good. When we were here there was a large party that was very loud and made it a bit hard to hear. If you're looking for someplace quiet and intimate, this is not the place. I would stop here again, it just wouldn't be my first choice.

Yelp
Met some friends from NJ here on a Saturday evening for drinks and dinner. We had the Shepherd's Pies, and the Beef 'n' Cheddar sandwiches along with 2 flights and 2 pints. The place was really hopping, but we were served quickly and our server was great. I have to say that the Beef 'n' Cheddar sandwiches were stellar. Honestly better than Kitty Hoynes beef on weck. These came very close and in some ways surpassed the old beef sandwiches that were served at Clark's Ale House. Definitely A+++ Really the only negative is that the space is cold and we were seated right in the corner near the windows. But, luckily we we all wearing several layers of clothing.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening around 8pm for some drinks and dinner and place was popping. We ordered bacon wrapped pickles, pretzel, Shepard's pie, burger with side of mac and cheese, a flight of beers and some full pours after. All the food was great and on point. The beer was pretty good too that we each had 2 full pours after. Bartenders were great, quick, and friendly even though there were quite a few groups. Too bad we were only visiting as the Club Cursive is pretty appealing and seems well worth the membership!

Yelp
I was impressed with the food here. We came during the day to celebrate a birthday and the staff were very accommodating. They have a bunch of brews and cocktail options. We tried their jalapeño naan pizza and the special pickle pizza. Both were so good! I do wish the raspberry drizzle was a bit more pronounced on the jalapeño pizza to give it that contrast, but again I was pleasantly surprised. Perfect sharing size for 2 people. My friend's baked Brie and pretzel with beer cheese were also delicious.

Colleen K.

Yelp
The beer is the reason to visit. Had a flight and each one was great. We tried a couple new menu items, the Báhn Mì burger and Thai Chicken wrap. I ordered the burger medium rare, came fully cooked, no pink whatsoever. The chicken wrap was as dry the desert. How is that even possible? They don't have fries anymore, which was also disappointing. The people are great, the beer is great and next time, we'll try something different.

Yelp
Great food, excellent drinks, top notch staff. They host brunches pretty frequently now and knock it out of the park. I love that they not only make great beers (so I am told by my beer drinking friends) but they consistently make some of my favorite cocktails in town. The cocktail list changes seasonally, is always pretty extensive, and always a hit. The owners/management here really know what they're doing!

Yelp
I've just come home from another wonderful meal at Talking Cursive Brewing company. Our group had a special beer pairing menu with 3 courses. We got to choose our first drink as we socialized, I love sours so I had their Blueberry Coffee cake sour, delicious, light but fruity and not too sweet. We started with an amazing mixed greens salad, topped with strawberries, avocado, red onion, pistachios and goat cheese balls rolled in crushed pistachios with a sweet balsamic dressing. I could have eaten this full size. We had 3 sliders, rodeo burger, mushroom swiss burger and the pub pretzel burger. All delicious, each paired with tastings of beer. Our dessert was a delicious blueberry ice cream with fresh blueberries, blueberry syrup, crumble topping and whipped cream paired with a sweet coffee liqueur. Service was great and the food was excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
Beer was good to outstanding! Food was terrific - I had the "burger bowl" - a burger in a salad. Service was very good and knowledgeable on a really busy night. The brewery clearly supports the community, which is special.

Yelp
Nice spot for beer and a meal in downtown Syracuse. Staff is friendly and service is very fast. The beer flights are nice and there's a good variety of beers. My favorite was the rhubarb pie one, it was tart but still really pleasant. I ate the seasonal Mac and cheese, which was a nice portion. I liked the bacon and crispy onion. Not the sauciest Mac and cheese, but it's still a nice option to pair with the beer. They have a nice variety of food options, including the naan pizzas, and the seasonal food options are fun. Seems like a family friendly spot as there were several groups with young kids. I just wish there were TVs with some sports games on, but this may be because I was really wanting to watch college game day at the time I was there haha.

Yelp
Talking Cursive was my first stop to show some local friends after getting out of a Crunch game. We had a couple beers with there flight offering, I had gotten all sours which were all delicious. The bartender was super friendly and welcoming. She made sure we had everything we needed during our visit, and the soft pretzels were incredibly yummy. Excited to try some new beers and of course, the rest of the delicious looking menu. It was a little tight getting in and out, but the space is very warm. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Staying in Syracuse for a concert at The Dome over the weekend, I heard about Talking Cursive Brewing Company and read they had a burger that was a finalist for best burger in NYS for 2023. Not only was that burger awesome, the beer and staff were just as great! A family member and I walked in a little after 3pm on a Saturday looking to grab a beer flight and an early dinner before a concert at The Dome. We walked in and the hostess immediately seated the two of us at a table. There was a big bar and plenty of high tables and chairs to sit at and relax, along with a little outdoor patio area in front. Our waitress, I wish I would have gotten her name, was excellent! She was incredibly friendly and fun; she was very well-versed about the beers Talking Cursive makes and serves and gave us ample time to relax and figure out what we wanted to order for dinner. I was pretty confident on what I was ordering and since it was a burger, Talking Cursive participated with the New York State Beef Passport, which as of 08/2023, if you order a burger from Talking Cursive and have an account, you can get a free beer, which I took advantage of, so again, shout out to our awesome waitress! From the flight of four beers I got, my favorite was their "Bobby Fans Are People Too", a DDH Double-IPA, which was a Gold Medal Winner at TAP NY 2023! For dinner, I ordered their Pub Pretzel Burger (the best burger in NYS 2023 finalist), cooked medium, with a side of Ruffles potato chips. The Pub Pretzel Burger is a one-third pound Centerstate Cattle Co. Black Angus beef patty, served on an artisan pretzel bun, topped with their house-made beer mustard sauce and beer cheese, caramelized onions, and bacon. This burger was excellent, easy to see how this was a finalist! The burger was cooked perfectly. I absolutely loved the house-made beer mustard sauce and beer cheese combination, so much flavor. The bacon slices were big and crispy and the caramelized onions were a nice touch. The artisan pretzel bun was amazing though, the flavor of the bun was a perfect match to the burger and was plenty soft. The burger, Ruffles chips, and flight of beer made for perfectly sized dinner, leaving me the right amount of full and plenty happy. I felt the prices were pretty reasonable too, especially if you take advantage of the NYS Beef Passport promo! I absolutely loved my experience at Talking Cursive Brewing Company, I even wound up getting one of their shirts, which I NEVER do. Great staff, excellent food, and awesome beers! I wish I could've grabbed a four-pack of their "Sweet Potato Brown" yam beer and, if they canned it, the "Bobby Fans Are People Too". If/when I come through Syracuse again, I will happily come back here again!

Yelp
Headed here for a special Mac & Cheese and Beer pairing flight night, and they did not disappoint. Ft French onion Mac & cheese, crab Rangoon and Philly cheesesteak, with three distinctly different but tasty brewed beers. The French onion was a bit watery and less flavor, but it was all part of the experience/experimenting. Not pictured but definitely should be on your list are their burgers and flat breads, which ARE award winning as you can see from their STACK of winterfest awards (including cocktails, bloody Mary's and sandwiches). They do a ton of fun events too, usually monthly themed brunches, beer releases and more. Make a reservation first!
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to attend one of their Pop-Up brunches that they try to do on a Sunday once a month. Normally they are closed on Sundays. I'm sort of a beer snob, but they have great beer! I opted for a mimosa flight since it was brunch. They had some different flavors that I haven't seen elsewhere, but they were average mimosas. I thought it was nice that they brought complimentary mini muffins with cinnamon butter to the table. Reminded me of a bread basket at dinner. My only complaint was I would've loved more. I easily could have eaten all of them! The sweet potato and sausage hash was definitely drool-worthy and the cheesy potatoes brought me back to my childhood (even for this lactose intolerant girl ). Definitely check their Facebook page to see when their next pop up brunch is and make a reservation early!

Yelp
Also, their Oktoberfest is THE BEST. I was eagerly awaiting its return so I now basically live there...Good thing I live right next to it?!
google avatar

Madison C.

Yelp
vibes were great! Beautiful day to sit out front and our server was super personable and nice. We went for one of their pop up brunches and had a great time. I had a delicious definitely boozy cold brew coffee cocktail and the french toast bake which came with 2 slices of bacon and cheesy potatoes. The strawberry sauce on the french toast was phenomenal and of course the creamy cheesy potatoes were delicious. French toast bake batter needed a little dash of salt in my opinion and the bacon wasn't crispy, but this was a delicious meal, good portions for the price, and all in all I would definitely come back here!

Yelp
This was my very first stop to meet friends after getting out of the airport. I had a couple beers which were both delicious. The bartender was super friendly and welcoming. She made sure the three of us had everything we needed during our visit, My husband has been here numerous times during work travel and loves it. I highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Just experienced their pop up brunch for Father's Day. Alexis was very helpful and responsive if setting up our reservations (even though we waited til the last minute ). Our party of four enjoyed the chiorzo tacos , breakfast lasagna and pork belly eggs Bennie. All were delicious. The cheesy potatoes were a perfect accompaniment for each. The men loved the man mimosa and one of the best bloody Mary's I have had in a long time. Cannot wait for the next time they offer. Pop up Brunch!!

Yelp
Busy Saturday. Food appeared exactly as pictured on Insta. Very tasty. Good brews. Phenomenal coffee flavor & low abv in their Salt City Coffee stout.

Dwight T.

Yelp
Great choice of drinks; beer and cocktails. Recommend visiting if in the Syracuse area.

Yelp
Decided to try various Syracuse based craft beer places. Nice beer selection a little formal than other places. Beer selection was nice. Found out after our tasting that we could add their canned beers to our tasting without paying for a can which is a nice bonus. Food starters only . Disappointing Baby Reubens, consisted of bread, corned beef and Sauerkraut. No Russian dressing very boring. Pickels looked ok and understood tacos were good. Service was so, so took forever for the starters had to ask at the bar if the order got lost

Michael S.

Yelp
Great little brewery. Beer selection is awesome. Food is good. Fantastic and friendly staff.
google avatar

Donny S.

Yelp
A quaint little joint with a really nice selection of beers to stay and beers to go. Some great deals like burgers on Wednesdays and pizzas and a pint on Thursdays. Give it a shot.
google avatar

Taylia H.

Yelp
Amazing food, beer and service. Me and my boyfriend both agreed this was the best burger we ever had!

David B.

Yelp
great beer, fun staff, local flavor with good food - definitely worth the time, possible to become your new spot!

Laura F.

Yelp
Amazing service, the food was amazing and served quickly. Love the atmosphere, music on but low enough you can still have a great conversation. Highly recommend the Mac and cheese- delicious and creamy!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a very cool, chill spot to enjoy beverages while enjoying a view of the Niagara Mohawk building. The naan bites with bacon jam paired very well with our drinks. We stopped in for one drink but are definitely looking forward to going back soon.

Yelp
Patty and Dewey are a perfect match for any business. I have known them for over 20 years, and was actually there the day they met. Both are accomplished singers and adept in business as well of in possession of separate skill sets that meld together to make a quality output that is made with the love of brewing, and the dignity of "getting it right" every time and without question. These 2 Friends have what it takes to make it through tough times of a major Pandemic, and all the while serving up their creations to appreciative customers and Friends. When you stop in for a pint of a bite, tell 'em Rockin' Rob recommended "Talking Cursive".

Eluvia S.

Yelp
Amazing service and great drinks! I recommend the mini Ruben and their mushroom pizza. The bartenders are super nice and really great at knowing their customers.
google avatar

Mick L.

Yelp
Righteous brewery in downtown Syracuse! The staff is friendly, happy, and a pleasure to see. The beers are also awesome. We went with the IPA four pack and enjoyed all four. Onto the growler next!
google avatar

Donna S.

Yelp
Tried a flight of 2 IPAs and a Porter and a Stout. We enjoyed the dark beer that was loaded with flavor and the friendly staff. The Pastrami bites were not worth the money for the five bites , especially if you have a large mouth then you could call them minuscule bites. Barely any meat on a pickle on a thin 2x11/2 piece of bread. Go for the service and dark beer
google avatar

Yelp
Cute and new little brewing that opened up not too long ago. I've been here a couple times and the bartenders have always been so nice! They're super friendly and helpful. $8 for a flight of 4 4oz beers. What a deal! We had the chance to meet to the chef here and she is just so adorable! She makes this special onion slaw thing? and it is oh so good! There are only 4 ingredients in it, but it is to die for. It's her grandmother's recipe and it is definitely special! The charcuterie board is just so yummy! The baked potato is also so, so good. All around a cute little place. It's kind of off the beaten path of armory square, since it located across from the Niagara Mohawk building. But it's a good segway between armory square and Middle Ages, even though no one is probably going to walk that route. Hah. Definitely check it out if you're nearby though. It's worth a stop.

Yelp
We stopped in the first Saturday they were open. We timed it perfectly, there were two empty seats at the bar. We ordered the Talking Cursive Mojo Riesling and Seneca St. Spring Fling IPA. Our server was very knowledgeable of the beer choices and was able to answer our questions about some of the beers. Nothing worse than going to a brew pub and they know nothing about the beer. We enjoyed both beers. We also ordered a loaded bake potato, which was excellent. They have other food options such as brats, hot dogs, and deconstructed nachos. There is plenty of seating in the tasting room and it has a nice modern vibe. A great addition to Downtown Syracuse. We will definitely be back.

Diane G.

Yelp
We should give this brewery 10 stars. The beer is awesome, the food is amazing and creative. The service is oriented toward you, the customer and it is. The ambiance is the way it should be. You want to taste some new brews, be able to hear your server and your friends. It is wonderful to sit, drink the best beer, eat a gourmet meal at a beyond reasonable price, and make new friends because you can hear each other talk. There are not any tv's or bands, there is you, your friends and the new friends you will make. Did I mention the food? I had baked brie the other night which was the best and biggest portion I ever had at a so-called 5-star restaurant. Please check out their website, look over their menu and definitely come with a thirst and an appetite.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
This is a nice new little brewery in a pretty prime location in downtown syracuse. The beers are good, and they have a pretty solid collection of board games which makes it good for groups. Their food menu was less impressive. The sausages they serve are decent, but I ordered the charcuterie plate and was underwhelmed by the spread. Their popcorn is on point.
google avatar

Hector B.

Yelp
The location is great. Super clean with great service! It's a spot to hang for sure. Their beers are all okay. Nothing special! They appear to have maybe two yeast stains at best. I didn't ask. The fingerprint is dry and tart beer. They have several styles but lack of different core keeps a "flavor". It's not a bad thing but not great either. I'm guessing that they are new and will evolve into something better long term. The key is service and location, which they have!
google avatar

C W.

Yelp
Stopped in for just one drink to check it out. My bf and I split a flight, and like all the beers we tried. The bartender was friendly and helpful with suggestions, and all COVID safety precautions were taken. We ordered a soft pretzel with house-made cheese sauce and house-made mustard, and it was the perfect compliment to the drinks!

John R.

Yelp
In town for the Boxing Hall of Fame. Wanted to go to some local brew pubs in the area. Found Talking Cursive BC online. Excellent beer. Excellent service. Enjoyed the food. Would highly recommend to any beer enthusiast looking to grab some brews in Syracuse.

Yelp
4/11/19 Stopped for a drink with friends. Our friends had been there a few time and raved. They usually drink wine about the beers! Everyone had a flight. The rating is based on our experience and our friends.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting this brewery after hearing of its opening. As soon as I walked in, my first reaction was woah it's so packed! The place isn't too big, but it has tables and seating for food and it has bar tables and stools all around, as well as available seating at the actual bar. There is no one there to greet you, we just kind of had to walk up to the bar to figure out what's going on. The service is first come, first serve. You see a seat open, you grab that seat before it's gone! We got lucky there were two seats open and we asked for an extra chair as well. You have to order both your drinks and food at the bar. There was someone occasionally walking around to clear off the table of our empty drinks. There was a good selection of beer available. We all tried flights as you can see below. Overall, it was a lovely time. If anything I would suggest someone to walk around to take orders at least as it can become quite the long wait when everyone is ordering everything at the bar. Can't wait to go back again!

Amy H.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick flight about an hour before closing... staff was incredible as was the beer! We had two flight and liked all the beers for different reasons. The Yam beer was SO GOOD for fall and we took a crowler to go. The staff were also wonderful at directing us to other great places in town to try after they closed and before they opened again the next day. Would definitely go back for the beer and good bartenders! Cheers!

Yelp
Nice little brewery in downtown Syracuse. Stopped here while on business since I need to find local beer anywhere I go. Beer is decent, food is good, people are nice. I'd definitely come back.

Taylor S.

Yelp
Fantastic service, the beer was phenomenal, along with the food. I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I was able to visit 'Talking Cursive' on their grand opening. I expected a bit of a circus on the inaugural day, but quite to my surprise the operation was humming along like a fine tuned engine. They have a great selection of BREWS and FOOD! The beers were all perfectly carbonated and each had it's own delicious taste. They also evaluate beers from other local breweries and select the best for their guest taps. Yesterday I planned a run along the Creek Walk so that I could get a bite at the brewery. Once again, all I can say is 'Woohoo'. I had corned beef sliders and they hit the spot. It turns out that the cook is a legend in the area and knows exactly how to add that special something. It made me wish I had more room for another selection. Next time. I also had the pleasure to "speak freely and easily" with owners Patty and Andrew on both visits. They love chatting about beer and of course their, new baby, the brewery. Their enthusiasm is contagious! The crew at Talking Cursive did their homework and it shows. I can't wait to experience what they will offer next.
google avatar

Jim K.

Yelp
Outstanding local brewery...first time in was last night...i had three of the beers...all were excellent...favorite one was the Irish red, also really liked the orange beer. The owner really knows his stuff...they had about 4 guest taps and 12+ beers that they brew. Strongly recommend this place. Beer is priced right...Not sure about quality of food, but the prices did seem steep.

Yelp
We took some friends from out of town on a micro brewery, loved the beer and the atmosphere.

Lillian M.

Yelp
We picked up 4 packs for takeout. Helpful staff and great service! Beers aren't half bad either. Definitely would visit again.
