Google
Highly recommend for quick lunch spot! Great location, ambience is here, artfully decorated and outside murals are a great touch! The dips and appetizers were amazing! Especially the hummus and labaneh , perfectly seasoned! 3 of us split the grill special and all the bites, we had a good amount of leftovers! The Moroccan carrots were delicious 🤤 I’m just now realizing while writing this that we didn’t get the falafel balls …:/

Google
Super flavorful(and stuffed) Chicken shawarma pita and the Moroccan carrots were a pleasant surprise! Will be eating here again soon.

Google
Go in, order, then sit. The person at the counter was talkative and described the dishes to me. I got the veggie shawarma with pita and fries. This tasted very good. The pita were super fresh. I will go back.

Taylor Guss

Google
Amazingly delicious vegan shawarma. Pomegranate lemonade hit the spot as well. What a great spot!

Abraham Tadesse

Google
7 pieces of fries. $18 for a pita and that’s how much fries you get. I even asked the cashier and he said that’s the standard qty. So you hope you’d blowing away by the pita. Nope. Super basic. I just think for the value, it’s highly overrated. Noting about the pita is amazing. Better off going to shawarma on the go down the street. I was super excited to try but very disappointed. Sorry. And why is a can of coke $3.50??

Marcus Joseph

Google
Here’s the thing. They’ve got great ambience, very approachable staff, great ideas such as the use of real cutlery and plates. The food itself is high quality, served quickly with good presentation. However I’m only offput by, well…the taste. Chicken Schwarma. I could tell the chicken was high quality by the texture. But it didn’t really taste like much of anything to me. Same with the hummus. It tasted like chickpeas without anything else mixed in, despite seeing there was definitely some other stuff mixed in. Each dish desperately needed salt and maybe some pepper. Didn’t see any salt or pepper available (probably should have asked.) The fries were spot on, fantastic. Salad was good. The gluten free pita bread was a solid plus though. That plus the gigantic portion size redeemed the meal. They gave me some cut up jalapeños in a traditional dish which helped with the flavor problems. Everything’s there - just need to bump up the flavor palette!

Google
The cauliflower sandwich totally rocked my world -- a flavor bomb, perfectly filled/ proportioned, and the pita is so fluffy and flavorful. My side of hummus was also outstanding. I was having a terrible day and this lunch really brightened it. Highly recommend and I can't wait to go back!

Google
We've ordered here before, but had it delivered. It was solid. The food this time was pretty good , but not as good as before. It happens, right? I'm willing to give a spot a few tries if I know there's a chance for greatness. Biggest issue with this spot, at least this time, was the attitude of the guy working the counter. I walk in early evening on a Sunday. There's no other people eating in there. The guy at the counter was apparently too bothered to take out his air pods when I walk in. I get to the counter and he pulls out an earbud and says something like, 'yeah?'. Seriously? It's summer in NOLA . Everything is dead. Places are making sacrifices to keep their teams employed, and this guy can't even greet someone with a hello? I then tell him I'm picking up an order. He half screams 'what?', as I assume his music was still playing in his other ear bud. I repay myself, but with a bit of saltiness this time (as is fair). He asks my name. I tell him. He asks again. I tell him again. There's literally ONE other behind him, and it clearly says my name in it. Also, I'm not a soft-spoken guy. When I talk, you'll hear me (assuming you aren't wearing ear buds). He then proceeded to half heartedly try to tell me that he's had several people with my name order today (that's BS), though I'm not sure what that has to do with my order. I give a LOT of grace to service industry people in this city, especially in the summer. So got this guy to tub me this much the wrong way meant he was definitely not interested at all in actually representing his employer with any respect for the business. Not gonna be back for a while. Try better, grumpy dude.

Yelp
If you're looking for affordable and delicious food you've found it. AMAZING for vegans and vegetarians ( the stuffed bell pepper is my fav!) Food comes out quick and servers are always super nice. Store is also super cute with outdoor seating!

Yelp
Love the hummus here! Stopped in this week for an order to go. It's hands down the best I have eaten.

H S.

Yelp
Always delish. We're regulars an never disappoints. Had the falafel plate and Mediterranean grilled chicken tonight. Beautiful presentation.

Sarah H.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite Mediterranean casual place in all of Nola but something changed and i went today and it was actually revolting I couldn't eat it. I'm devastated I literally had to spit my food out. This is so SAD!!!!!
google avatar

Erin A.

Yelp
This food is the real deal. I recommend the Chicken Shawarma plate, which comes with Israeli Salad, Hummus, fries and pillowy fresh pitot. Friendly service and indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
When the weather is nice in New Orleans do NOT miss the opportunity to dine outdoors. Yelper bestie, Jen L. and I skipped up the street (not literally) for a quickie lunch. Ice Teas (pricy, but take advantage of the free refills), Carrots, crispy Cauliflower to share, the Jen ordered a side of Falafel and I ordered the beef kebab pita sandwich. We grabbed a seat out front in the shady part of the day snd began people watching. Apparently a couple HTV famous chaps walked by, but I didn't understand and was called out for bringing out my California loudness (are we loud? I could careless about celebrity, please.....well maybe a couple of peeps) The Cauliflower was especially delicious and we oooh and ahhh'd at every bite. My kebab was sooo good, juicy and packed with crunchy cucumbers. I wish I ordered extra Hummus to go, I know Ill be kicking myself over the oversight. Oh heck I can just go again next week!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered from DoorDash, so I can't speak to the ambiance or service, but the food was delicious. The vegan shawarma is amazing and has a great texture. The pita is super thick and yummy. The hummus and falafel were also good, but the falafel were tiny, like one bite each. It was very expensive on DoorDash but I'm sure less so in person.
google avatar

Yelp
Discovered this place while doing chores in the area, and I'm so glad I came in for breakfast on a whim. Will definitely be going back to try the vegan chicken.... we love to see alternative options! I ordered the falafel platter with couscous instead of fries. Everything was delicious with perfect texture and full flavor. The falafel reminded me a little of the stuff I make at home... which is a compliment because I make bomb falafel. The hummus was nice and creamy, and the fresh pickles were fun to try. The cucumber salad was pretty light on salt and I'm kind of a salt fiend, so I just grabbed a shaker and remedied that. The pita was def one of my favorite parts; it seemed house-made... respect. The couscous was fluffy and plump with a savory tomato flavor. Overall, a super satisfying meal, with portions large enough to take a bit home. Was kinda pricey, but that's likely because of the location; nothing is cheap on Magazine.

Yelp
We are so happy to live near Tal's! They're open late and the food is always fast and fresh. They have a cute window outside or you can order at the counter inside. It's a small place but we've always been able to get a table (and we also like sitting outside). The portions are huge and it's great to share or have leftovers! Last time we got the mixed grill that had lamb kofta, chicken shawarma, and grilled chicken. This time a falafel platter and a chicken shawarma platter--they come with hummus, fries, and a small salad. The menu has something for everyone in our family, and our dietary restrictions are all over the map. Love the gluten-free pita option, too! You can't go wrong no matter what you order.
google avatar

Lacey D.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try Tal's for a while and was bummed that it wound up being underwhelming. The place is comfortable and the service was friendly. The food was very expensive for what you got. And needed salt/flavor. I wouldn't come back.
google avatar

Cheryl K.

Yelp
A group of 7 of our girlfriends came by while on a trip and it was amazing! So much food, Services's great! I split the 6 sharables with a friend and we had leftovers.... The goat cheese was fantastic!!! Loved the carrots and beets. The regular pita bread was my favorite, but many loved the fried pita too. The babaganoush was yummy too!! We really enjoyed all the food and the setting was really nice too.

Yelp
I so enjoyed our recent meal at Tal's Hummus. I am still thinking about my chicken souvlaki pita. SO good. Moist chunks of marinated grilled chicken with diced cucumbers & tomatoes, slathered in delicious sauces. One was hummus; the other I wasn't familiar with. But man, this sandwich delivered! The pita is made in house & so darn good. My husband got the mixed grill pita & enjoyed his as well. The pitas are served with French fries. Tal's can be pricey, depending what you order. A modest plate of hummus & pita will run you $13-16 depending which variety. And the entrees are expensive in my opinion (most are $22+ & one is priced at $29) for a fast casual place such as this. One small critique is the fact that they don't have mayonnaise available. We are a mayo-loving family, especially as a dip for French fries. Offer some mayo packets, Tal's! My recommendation: stick with any of the flavorful pitas & you won't leave Tal's disappointed.
google avatar

David T.

Yelp
Tal's is one of those places I've been going for years and is always dependably excellent. Their meat is all delicious as is their falafel. I really can't say I have a preferred meal to eat there and its good for both a quick lunch or if I want dinner. You can't miss the fries or hummus either. It's really easy to order online and go pick up from their window if you're in a rush. They don't skimp on portion size either...you'll never leave hungry.

Camilla R.

Yelp
Amazing!! Came here on vacation and was blown away. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I have a few allergies (gluten, dairy, eggs) and our server went out of her way to ensure I could enjoy the food with no problems. They have delicious gf/df/egg free pita bread which was amazing, lovely falafel, chicken, some of the best fries I've ever had, and obviously great hummus. Such a cute location and interior as well. Love this place!
google avatar

Steph W.

Yelp
I ordered the vegan shawarma that came with the hummus, Israeli salad, hummus, pita and also ordered a mint lemonade. The mint lemonade was delightful - I sucked it down within just a few minutes. Everything was really good, but the pita was the best pita that I have ever had! It was warm and soft - I can't wait to go back for more. Delicious.

Dawod A.

Yelp
The food is okay , not more than that ! But the prices !!!! More than Crazy !! 1 chicken pita 20$ before tip and taxis ! It's unbelievable ! Beef small pita ! Everywhere in between 8-10$ but in this place 20$ before tip and taxis ! They charge you extra for just tahini sause ! Please stop using people ! Make your sales affordable !
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
The falafel burger is delicious! It doesn't show up on the online order section so call and ask for it. The hummus is great! The fries are the best I've ever had. Thick cut and seasoned perfectly. Worth the price. Great to eat in (bring your own beers) or take out!

Yelp
Came here one day when I was really craving some shawarma. I looked over the menu, which was limited but placed my order. The workers were okay and somewhat friendly, and it didn't take too long for the food to come out. I took one bite and there was hummus in my sandwich. There had been no mention of it anywhere on the menu that it would be included, so I hadn't even thought about it. However, as someone who's allergic to the main ingredient, I immediately had to return it and ask for another. At this point, I was treated like an outcast, and what little bit of friendliness that I had experienced initially was completely gone. By the time I received my replacement, I just wanted to leave. The vibe had soured my entire experience, and I donated my shawarma to a friend who I met up with later. Definitely not worth the time or money.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm in love with the hummus here, I've never had anything like it in the states. I feel like any bad review he gets is not a real one becas the food is so delicious I'm always craving it!

Yelp
The best food ever. Fresh , good service, awesome prices. Very good variety. Vigan, vegetarian and other

Yelp
I finally made it down to Tal's and was not disappointed. I went because I love Middle Eastern cuisine, I saw how many vegetarian and vegan options they have, and I wanted to support a Jewish-owned business. Coming from an Arabic neighborhood in Chicago, I am spoiled on delicious Middle Eastern food, particularly Lebanese and Turkish cuisine. I was very curious to see how an Israeli approach to the cuisine would differ. It turns out it's pretty similar. What makes Tal's special, I think, is the variety of healthy options, which include a lot of creativity. I had the avocado salad, which was phenomenal. One of the best things I've had in New Orleans, where I tend to have difficulty finding food that I enjoy. This salad was a whole avocado with hard boiled egg and olives on a bed of delicious labneh. I also tried the falafel sandwich, which was good. But I wish I had ordered the eggplant sandwich, as the young man who worked there advised me to do. I just like to try falafels first. Tal's is very green and flavorful. But I liked the hummus and the pickles best on that sandwich. I will go back soon to try the eggplant sandwich and other dishes.

Yelp
Amazing food, the pickled vegetables, the Mediterranean grilled chicken pita, the pita chicken shawarma, and the mushroom/pita hummus STOLE the show. We enjoyed them so much we didn't take pictures. We will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Nancy O.

Yelp
Second time here and I will definitely come back to try all of the hummus options. I had the fried cauliflower pita, which came drenched in sauce and salad. I wish it were more deconstructed so the cauliflower stayed crispy. The pita is somehow both fluffy and dense, with a great flavor. The side salad of cucumber and tomato was simple but delicious with a lemon dressing. My favorite part was the mint lemonade...with sprigs of fresh mint that provided a beautiful aroma with each sip. Creative inexpensive option on a less travelled section of Magazine.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered from here on uber eats during a trip to New Orleans. I found the prices very high, but the reviews for the food looked good and I thought maybe portion sizes would be huge. I ordered the chicken shawarma pita with fries, chicken shawarma platter with hummus and salad, and BOGO baklava. The fries were very good but the chicken shawarma tastes were just not as flavorful as all the other times I've had shawarma. The hummus and pita bread as well as the salad were excellent. The baklava did not taste right. The flavor was just off and not what I was looking forward to at all. Portion sizes of the chicken were large, but not enough to justify the high cost. The baklava was buy one get one (3 pieces for $10 normally, way too expensive) and still I thought it was way overpriced for the 6 below average tasting pieces. They also forgot utensils which was annoying. I would not order from here again.

Yelp
Amazing food! Highly recommend! Very clean place and very vegan friendly. You have to go and visit there!
google avatar

Mimi T.

Yelp
Omg I wish I woulda never tried the hummus because I live across the lake and now have to drive 35 minutes to get it or find something that comes close to their hummus!! The best I've ever had, I love this place.
google avatar

Munzer Q.

Yelp
Tal's Hummus has amazing food and has an extensive menu. The hummus was very good and the bread was great. The chicken is not shawarma style. It is more like saffron chicken but tasty. The portions are big and frankly the plate can be shared for two people. There is still more to try on the next visit. Enjoy.
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
Pandemic update I ordered lunch for me and Mom and a couple of friends on a recent Saturday. Ordering online was easy through DoorDash. We ordered a lot! We had beef kebab pitas and chicken shawarma and hummus and baba ganoush and carrots and Israeli salad. The pita is poofier than some of the other places in town, but that's a regional difference. My Mom loved her beef kebab and the baba ganoush. The hummus was yummy and so were the carrots (spicy!) and the salad. I picked up and you can choose to go inside (where the specials are listed so you have FOMO about what's not on the app) or there is a window on the side street to be even more distant. Everything was delicious and the staff is great.

Yelp
Great tasting food but absolute horrible customer service... I order the same thing every single time I visit this establishment, and that is the "Pita Chicken" direct from their menu! Every time I place this order i am given an extremely hard time no matter how well I explain what i am asking for... even prompting employees to view the menu and give the item that is next to the name "pita chicken"... this most recent time a young man lost his temper and began screaming at me over this simple mis understanding... in the middle of the argument I notified him that I was a paying customer and that this is poor customer service... he disregarded my state proceeded to yell at me then hung up in my face... as i stated at the beginning of this review the food is healthy and delicious but i am currently conflicted as to weather or not i should enter the hostile environment the employee created to obtain my food. **** So i did show up to pick up the food and pay full price for the meal as a customer... I did not want to speak on the incident yet simply pay for my food and return to my comfort zone to enjoy it... the employee then ask as I am checking out if I was the person he spoke with on the phone. I responded with a simple yes and he begins yelling at me again citing that he doesnt want my business and i should not visit the establishment again... all over a simple misunderstanding of what i was attempting to order... I ignore him and get back in my car with my food only to find that he spitefully only included 7 french fries in my fry order which usually consist of a full bag of almost 30 or more fries

Dont B.

Yelp
It was worth a shot. When we saw hummus for $17 we were hoping for Something..we got nothing. Everything subpar. Wish we recommend.

Cate J.

Yelp
I really really enjoyed it here! I ordered the vegan chicken shawarma ($17). It was a big portion packed full of flavor and fresh veggies. Rather than chicken, there was deliciously seasoned seitan. I was extremely full after this meal, which makes the price to me worth it. However, it is pricey. I tasted the lamb stew special ($22) which might have been my favorite. Super tender lamb with delicious light sauce. It's not fast food, so don't expect a super quick meal. But, the food tastes super freshly made. I would absolutely come here again and recommend it!

John D.

Yelp
We experienced an overpriced delivery with half our order actually in the bag for the second time in too short of a period of time to be "user error" or on the delivery service. I'm done ordering delivery from this business. The food is above average at best, and my girlfriend and I typical order under the guise that a Mediterranean meal is healthy. Their food is oily and not health conscious, but that's never stopped me from ordering before, because it truly is a decadent meal. Tonight, I had an order that was for two that came as a one person meal, with the "pita" being a single piece of pita. The prices are high, but my girlfriend and I work late hours and do well financially, so we order a lot of delivery meals for convenience after a long day. This is maybe the third really bad experience from this restaurant we've had in the last few months. This is not on the delivery service. It's on them. They're clearly not equipped to take delivery orders efficiently. We've given them an insane amount of business over the years and have referred friends to them, but we'll be recommending people look at elsewhere in the future.

Yelp
Haven't been there yet but plan on going soon to check it out. Will let you know. Sounds good though!
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Amazing food. The lamb was braised so well that it fell right off the bone and was paired perfectly with the sweet potatoes Cooke with it. I got the mushroom hummus and both I and my girlfriend loved it but hunk we may like the tomato one better. The bread that came with the hummus was very good. Tabouli was tasty and paired well with the food, too. Prices have jumped in the recent past compared to photos of the menu In yelp, but the food is worth it. It just may not be as casual a dinner on your wallet
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Awesome menu with a variety of options, from small plates to full entrees. Friendly service, Clean bathroom, but no paper towels... I loved the beet soup, asked for the mushroom dumplings but they gave me the beef. Veggie burger was really good, and the falafel. Awesome fries, generous portions. We will be glad to come back and try some different items!

Joe M.

Yelp
Just moved to New Orleans and was looking for a healthy meal. So glad I found Tal's. Food is amazing. I had the mediterranean chicken plate. Every bite was tasty. Can't wait to go back and try some other items on the menu.
google avatar

Nina N.

Yelp
Great food, great prices. We went a little over board and ordered so much, so filling!
google avatar

Gloria M.

Yelp
They have one hell of a satisfying falafel sandwich. Hours later and I'm still thinking about the soft pita bread, the crisp veggies, the flavorful falafel and that creamy-dreamy tahini sauce. Could this be love? Go and fall in love as I have. Skip the (meh) baklava.
google avatar

Emily V.

Yelp
I had a great meal at Tal's! I picked up takeout one day for lunch. I ordered the falafel platter. It was HUGE! I ended up eating half of it for lunch and half for dinner. That's a great value! I really liked the green falafel and the very fluffy pita. Also always a sucker for fries! I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Nona N.

Yelp
Time passed & Tal sincerely apologized to my friend for that incident-- it must have been an off day for him. Since then I have tried the vegan chicken shawarma which simply tastes magnificent, & while I am currently in Miami, I often long for it. The pita is always so fresh, fluffy, & warm & drizzled with all of the fresh sauces he has on top- it is just soooo gooddd. Nothing like it over here in this big a** city unfortunately lol. Also, I stopped by one time with friends (he doesn't know who I am or remember that past incident we had), & he was so cheery he walked over & surprised our table with a free dessert just because. :) So in conclusion, all is well & do give that vegan shawarma a try with his delicious homemade watermelon drink-- yum yum! :-D

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. Great I expensive lunches. Great service and very fast. The chicken Schwarma was excellent and you can get the half size, which for a quick lunch is perfect. The chicken was spicy and fresh and made perfectly The food is genuine Mediterranean and there are so many choices, sandwiches, soups salads and outstanding hummus!

Yelp
Indulging on a nice New Orleans snow day (you read correctly), I thought to try this place for lunch and was rather disappointed. Service-wise, it was one of the least hospitable welcomes I've received in a city known for hospitality, but nothing in substance really made up for it. I ordered something called a "vegan chicken shawarma" out of curiosity. This was perhaps my mistake; the thing wasn't really to my taste and had an off taste that had me checking to ensure it wasn't actual chicken. Maybe that appeals to some people, but it didn't to me. The real problem was that the menu listed it as coming with fries and hummus, which I expected meant separate sides of the above (certainly for the price), but this amounted to a small smear of hummus inside the sandwich, and a total of eight fries on top, delivering a "that's it?" experience. Moreover, I was struck that the next guy who came in ordered the same thing as me and had essentially the same experience, as far as I could tell. Notably, he asked what the vegan chicken was and received an answer of "seitan, which is soybeans". This is obviously inaccurate and didn't inspire much confidence. On the plus side, they had some free bread out as an appetizer, with some very nice toppings that far exceeded the tastiness of what I actually ordered. I could see maybe trying something else from them someday, but it won't be soon.

Christina C.

Yelp
I love the ambiance when you walk in. This place is very calming to the spirit which makes for an enjoyable lunch or dinner. I love the falafel platter, it reminds me of hot sausage from my meat eating days. They have so much flavor in every bite. No matter what you pick its cooked to order and they have yet to disappoint me. And I have been several times to make sure the consistancy I was getting was real and not an illusion haha.

M C.

Yelp
Love that they have vegan options and authentic Israeli style food. The falafel is absolutely delicious. My only gripe is that a side of french fries costs $8!! And they're a perfect complement to the falafel pita. I think the price may have increased? I wish if you ordered a sandwich/pita, it would come with a side of fries or a side of fries for no more than $3. Then it'd be the perfect meal. Unfortunately, the steep price is a deterrent, so I can't order too often. If they changed this, it would definitely be a 5 star place for me.
google avatar

Taylor S.

Yelp
Amazing vegan options. It was so good and the pita came so full, I was shocked at how big the portions were. I would come back.
google avatar

Jill R.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch today. A quaint, quiet, clean and tiny little place perfect for a quick lunch. I just got their Israeli salad as I wasn't overly hungry. I know that things are made to order as I requested no olives and the cashier said it was no problem. The cashier encouraged me to try some samples that they had out and I was able to taste some slices of their pita bread. It was SO good! I will definitely come back here with more of an appetite so I can try some of their other menu items.

Yelp
Golden Chicken Shawarma, Red Shakshuka & Sabich pita knocked our socks off! Perfectly seasoned! Every bite was delicious! Excellent service! You will not be disappointed!

Josh G.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful and tasty. The pickles were crisp and fresh. The Salatim were varied and delicious! The sandwiches and entrees were good portions and the lamb was particularly good!

Best hummus, best pita, best olives... Yum! Fresh, healthy and most authentic Israeli food on this continent. Everything is chopped and cooked to order so crunchy and delicious but not fast, so come when you have time to savor and not when you are in a hurry.
