Everything we ordered was delicious, food came out quickly and there was complimentary miso before our meal. Tempura was light and crispy. Rice was well cooked and delicious. The special inari was a true stand out, I highly recommend trying it! We ate on the outdoor patio which was nice

Google
Hands down my favorite spot for vegan sushi. Their noodles are also incredible so you might just have to try everything on the menu! I always recommend friends to visit. I've been going here since they had their location in Long Beach (formerly blue bird sushi, current blue bird is different ownership). Service is always amazing. Kind and attentive.

Zina D.

Google
Enjoyed this spot with my mom. The waitress was quick and polite. It’s a cute place. Food was delicious and we left stuffed. Loved the veggie gyoza and vegan eel roll and soy Thai tea. Can’t wait to come back.

Google
Great selection of special (vegan) sushis, which were outstanding. Amazing vegan dishes and tasty food. Highly recommend.

Google
SOOO Good. I wish I had room to try more. Vegan sushi is hard to come by- this was great vegan sushi! The coco herb using soup with added black garlic was amazing too. Service A+++ Highly recommend.

Google
Small location and very busy. We were lucky to grab the last table upon arriving for an early Saturday night dinner. Service was great from the moment we arrived with getting us a table right away and quickly serving us beverages, our food and refills. We sat on their little patio and ordered crab cheese wontons, cucumber salad and plain edamame. The cucumber salad was sweetener than expected and thinly sliced for easy eating & sharing. The wontons were overflowing with crab. The edamame was served with a salt grinder. We ordered their two kinds of sashimi (salmon & tuna) which just melted away in your mouth. I ordered the 911 roll and it was spicier than any other spicy tuna I’ve had and was soo fresh that I could easily bite into it to give my mouth a moment with the spice. It’s great that they also have a gluten-free menu making it easy to stick with dietary restrictions when needed.

Google
My friends and I went for the vegan menu and we loved all the food we had! It’s a small restaurant so there are usually wait times but it’s worth it!

Google
Nice little spot with some outdoor seating, which is always a plus! The staff was friendly and the place was clean. I ordered the Unagi Don, and while it was tasty, it was a tad too salty for my liking. Everything else looked great though. One heads up - they don't have their alcohol license yet, so no sake or beer with your meal. Overall, a solid sushi option in Garden Grove!

Yelp
We visited last night right after they opened for the dinner service. Place is small but cute and space is well utilized. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient. Food is made fresh to order and was delicious. We ordered the vegan veggie bowl, vegan udon yaki chicken, along with the V911 sushi, Vegan Valley roll and the vegan grinch sushi...so yummy! We have missed having a vegan sushi spot since Kensho shut down, but we will definitely be back to try even more of their vegan menu.

Yelp
I'm not vegan, but I wanted to try this spot as it was highly recommended by my vegan friend. So I took my vegetarian bestie with me and we both loved it. The girls serving us were very sweet, attentive, filling our waters frequently, and being patient with us deciding on what to order. Being our first time there, the menu was a lot to sort through but found it very organized and easy to read. The menu had an abundance of vegan and non vegan options, and we even got complimentary miso soup. We got the Vegan Shoyu Ramen - a clear savory broth, tofu, bokchoy, enoki, another type mushroom, and ginger. Added a side of tempura shrimp for extra protein. The vegan roll Hummingbird - vegan spicy tuna, vegan baby lobster, wrapped with avo topped with spicy sauce - was the shining star! Truly enjoyed everything, even the cute beckoning cat detail on the bowls and plates.

Yelp
We've been here twice now and it's quickly become a favorite. It's a cute little neighborhood gem run by a Thai couple, and the service is always so kind and welcoming. They have a full vegan menu and a full non-vegan menu, which we really appreciate. Everything we've tried has been super fresh and delicious--especially the Tom Kha udon, which is super spicy and packed with flavor. Also love that the miso soup is free! Tons of options, great prices, and a cozy local vibe. We'll definitely keep coming back.

Yelp
Best place in OC, potentially in CA for vegan sushi options. My hubby gets the non vegan option as also says it's fantastic. Great place if you want/need both options. 100/10 service everyone. They never miss. Always clean inside

Yelp
Attentive customer service Never had problems with parking Love the taiga roll (creamy!), hummingbird roll (creative with the chip!), and the new vegan valley roll (tempura mushroom makes me think of popcorn sushi). There's a patio, always enough parking, and they take reservations.

Yelp
I'll be honest--I was a little hesitant walking into this sushi spot after seeing that half of their menu is vegan. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance because this place absolutely blew me away. I didn't try any of the vegan options, but everything I did order was exceptional. The fish was incredibly fresh, the flavors were clean and balanced, and everything was crafted with real care. You can tell they take pride in what they do, because every bite was a standout. On top of the amazing food, the staff was incredibly kind, warm, and attentive. Whether you're a sushi lover like me or someone who loves plant-based options, this restaurant is doing it right and worth a try! I went in skeptical and left wishing I had discovered it sooner this will definitely be a regular spot for me. Highly recommend!

Renee C.

Yelp
This place is a gem! I had the Taiga vegan roll and it was fantastic and sooo tasty, I wish I had ordered another one for later. The folks were so sweet, my waitress put a miso soup in my bag as a gift, thank you!! Either way when I'm in the area I will swing by for a delicious treat! Can't wait!!

Yelp
Came here with my wife for my 40th Birthday. We had an Amazing time with great food and great service. We lobe all the vegetarian and vegan options.

Yelp
If you're vegan and you miss sushi, this is your sign to go! If you're not vegan, there are regular sushi options but the vegan rolls are 100% worth trying! They do not lack in flavor and quite yummy. We ordered to-go, and all items were neatly packed - I appreciated the sauces on the side. While I don't anticipate the sushi to be "fresher" in person, I'd be interested to go for the full experience!

Alejandra R.

Yelp
I love Tama Sushi! I moved to south county and I still drive up to eat here. I love that they have a full vegan and non vegan menu, it's perfect for my husband and I because he eats meat and I don't. I love the vegan tempura udon and the vegan deluxe crunchy roll. Tonight my husband got the tonkatsu ramen and egg rolls (also vegetarian!) and pork gyoza. Everything was incredible. I should have taken a picture but we ate it too fast. Next time I come I'll post a picture! Also the staff are so friendly every time we come here and very attentive, always coming to check on customers. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place despite the numerous times I've been here. Years ago, they were Blue Bird Sushi in Long Beach before they moved and rebranded. What the SO and I love about this spot is they have numerous vegan and nonvegan options, which is kinda rare for most sushi spots. Service is fantastic, but they are always busy so I would advise making a reservation. Is it the absolute best sushi I've ever had? No, but this place gets 5 starts for the overall package. Delicious, great options, and great service. And they have hidden gems like the salmon/yellowtail collar, which I find fantastic! I'm not going to complain more people don't order it because it's a meaty party of the fish that never gets ordered (although the collars need to be cooked, you can't have them raw). I've pretty much had all their special rolls at this point between their old location and this one, but I've become more partial to rolls without anything fried or excessive with kewpie (so no tempura, crunchy topping is ok). My favorite is the fresh roll: it's got a spicy citrus flavor that has a kick, but not too heavy. I feel like we're here at least once every few months and it's definitely our goto for sushi. For us, it's worth the drive.

Yelp
We went there for a quick bite as our laundry was washing. I am NOT a sushi person. I don't eat seafood if I can get away with it. Raw flesh doesn't appeal to me. I was looking over their menu and decided on getting one of their sushi rolls. I saw one that didn't mention seafood in it called the Philadelphia. It is under their NON-VEGAN section of the menu. On it, it says, "Avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese). I assumed that's all that was in it, other than rice and possibly a seaweed wrap. I bit into it and about threw up. I wasn't paying attention to the big pink chunk of fish in it. I entirely lost my appetite. When the lady came back out to see if everything was alright, I said, "No, I didn't know this had seafood in it." She said, "It's sushi. Sushi has fish in it." How was I supposed to know that, when the only thing I saw on the list of ingredients that wasn't seafood but non-vegan was cream cheese? Everything else is clearly labeled such as Albacore Roll, Yellowtail Roll, Tuna Roll, Eel Roll. Baked Scallop Roll. I was annoyed at the non-chalance and the way she said it. Husband liked his seafood...he ate mine. I sat there and watched him eat as I sipped on my water. I won't be back. Maybe he will.

Yelp
Tama Sushi is for sure one of my favorite places to eat. Always so fresh and everyone so friendly almost feels like family. Strongly recommend if you never tried.

Yelp
Blow my mind, why don't you. Tama Sushi has the best of both worlds. Their duo menu features traditional sushi and vegan options. Yup, you read that right. A whole menu dedicated the vegan items. And to be honest.. some of the veggie menu options are better than the fish. I recently ordered a pretty hefty meal from Tama to-go. But after seeing their adorable patio I had kind of regretted this decision. My order consisted of the baked salmon roll, egg rolls, and their vegan inari special. I was amazed by every little item, their menu was just too good. I honestly don't think I can order sushi anywhere else locally. Tama Sushi takes the cap in Huntington Beach.

Yelp
Tama Sushi is our favorite restaurant. We used to be able to walk to their location in LB before they moved to HB. It's so worth the drive from LB. The food is always Amazing, no matter what we've ordered. I love that their menu has so many awesome choices, great variety. My fave is the vegan sushi. Literally the best vegan sushi I've ever had, and it's always consistently amazing, delicious and fresh. I'm not even vegan, but so obsessed ( i prefer vegan sushi over sushi). Great portion sizes too. Tama and Benz don't just provide the best food, but also the best vibes and customer service. My fave rolls are: Vegan Fresh, Vegan CA Tempura, Strawberry Frenzy, Tuna Lover, Tuna Nirvana, Vegan 911.

Tammy B.

Yelp
Tama sushi is a cute little sushi spot with a great selection to choose from. They even gave me a miso soup on the house with my meal.
google avatar

Kris B.

Yelp
Definitely make reservations because this place is small. Luckily when we came they could accommodate us on the patio. Service was efficient and food came out quickly. We both ordered ramen bowls and split a roll. Quite tasty.
google avatar

Lenny C.

Yelp
The food is always so fresh and delicious. Each plate is handcrafted with love and you can taste it! The service is wonderful and warm and the ambience is very cozy & inviting. If you are ever in Huntington Beach and want good quality sushi that won't break the bank, try Tama!!
google avatar

Stacey S.

Yelp
We love the food, service, and the homey feeling when eating in. We eat here or get take out using the Toast Local app at least once a week. Our regular order consists of vegan jungle roll, veggie tempura and spicy edamame.
google avatar

Jonathan S.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of sushi, but the problem I should address is that the sushi itself at Tama is that I mostly taste rice more than the fish. The place itself is a little cramped, so if you want to get a spot, I'd suggest you get here early since they don't have that much space.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Really fresh and great quality. Sat table top and got handed our sushi. Staff were very nice and attentive. Prices are a bit high but for good quality sushi it's fine. Have a vegan option for so many things and a non-vegan option as well. Restrooms were clean. Small inside so pretty intimate with other guests and also had an outside patio. Would come back and plan on coming back soon.
google avatar

Joshua G.

Yelp
Great food & service! Love their variety & all of their regular sushi, vegetarian options & ramen.
google avatar

Yelp
They had gluten-free and vegan options throughout their menu and the food was amazing!
google avatar

Prajna P.

Yelp
Food: the food was really good. I had the vegan sushi and the soup on the vegan menu. I've been here a few times and I've always liked the vegan options compared to most vegan sushi restaurants. I recommend reading the ingredients on each on the vegan items in case you don't like some vegetables being used. The only roll I didn't like was the lb vegan. I was expected mushrooms but it was water chestnuts Service: the servers are very friendly and helpful. They also allow reservations Ambiance: it's a very very small restaurant so you do feel like you're sitting close to others. But it's very cute and clean and great lunch spot. Parking: every time I have visited parking has been tight. I've had to park a few stores down by Taco Bell to get parking and walk over

Alma R.

Yelp
My friends and I went for the vegan menu and we loved all the food we had! It's a small restaurant so there are usually wait times but it's worth it!!

Yelp
Yeah... if you know me, you know I'm hard on sushi joints. COME ON! How hard is it? So the dealio... as me and my buddy went in, he warned me that the sushi "falls apart". I was like "What do you mean it falls apart?" Jump to eating sushi... IT FALLS APART. Also had chicken teriyaki and fried rice that was good. But the sushi? No... Pass

Yelp
After a walk on the beach we felt like eating some ramen and sushi. Came across Tama sushi. The service was excellent. They were very helpful, polite, and friendly. Explained menu items, which is always nice. It's a small place but very cute atmosphere. We sat outside and they put the heater on for us. The Tonkutso Ramen & Hello Kitty Roll were my favorites. Both were 10/10 for me. The BSC was delicious 8/10. If in the area I highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Pratiti S.

Yelp
We always enjoy our time and we find their vegan sushi the best out of all the vegan sushis we have tried. They are the most flavorful and we love the variety. The staff is very kind and courteous too. We have been going to them for our sushi fix since 5 years. It never disappoints
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
You can believe the hype. This place definitely earns all their stars. We've been twice now and both times the food was excellent. The service was quick and friendly and it's a very cool vibe. Believe them when they put a chili pepper besides something on the menu. They definitely bring the heat. Not in an obnoxious way, but when they say something as spicy, it is. The miso soup is some of the best I've ever ever had. I would say get there early because it's not a huge place and they fill up quickly. We didn't have to wait either time, but I feel like we may have got lucky. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
So happy we stumbled upon this place, amazing service, the food omg vegan nachos amazing, ambiance was great it's a small place but you're too busy enjoying the amazing food. There is a small patio sitting as well. Definitely recommend

Yelp
We live in San Juan Capistrano and today we came to visit my sister who lives in Huntington Beach. We decided to come here for lunch and we were blown away ! Everything was delicious I am not a sushi connoisseur but my grandson is and he rated it as being some of the best he's ever had !! I on the other hand am easily pleased. I can't tell you how many times I have wanted fried rice at sushi places and there it was on the menu and it was amazing ! The service was superb ! I highly recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to return !

Yelp
There are so many vegetarian dishes available especially the magic mountain sushi is so good. Must order!
google avatar

Yelp
Tama Sushi is a go to spot for my family and I in HB! From the cooks to the servers, they are always so friendly and engaging, which is truly what keeps bringing us back. We like to order the tonkotsu ramen. The broth is very flavorful, and the added red ginger adds a nice kick. My mom loves the option for gluten-free noodles.
google avatar

Shelby W.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't left a review of my new favorite sushi place! My Fiance and I have tried so many sushi spots in Orange County, and something about Tama Sushi really has our hearts. This is by far the best sushi we have found. The rolls are phenomenal. We try to change it up every time, but always have to order two of our favorites. The miso soup is incredible, and seems better than some of the other miso soups I've had at sushi restaurants. The staff is also so kind! I absolutely love dining in there, and feel like I'm treated so well while enjoying my meal. I couldn't recommend Tama enough!
google avatar

Krisha R.

Yelp
The sushi rolls here are so yummy! The noodles were also fire! If you like spicy the ramen bowl was also super spicy and flavorful, It is a little small on the inside and not too much seating on the outside, better for smaller group of people or a date! If you're ever in Huntington Beach check this place out for a casual dinner or lunch!
google avatar

Elissa C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! It's my favorite restaurant for vegan sushi. Their vegan menu is huge and every single roll I've ever ordered has been delicious. Service is quick and the servers are always so friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating and it's always clean. I can't recommend this place enough!
google avatar

Melanie F.

Yelp
Excellent food! Hello Kitty roll is fabulous. Had a great time on Mother's Day. I Will return!
google avatar

BK K.

Yelp
The sashimi portions here are pretty underwhelming, especially compared to other sushi spots nearby. Paid $16 plus tax for about 8 thin slices of yellowtail, which were more like slivers than the thicker, better quality cuts you usually expect with sashimi. Wouldn't it be better if they just gave 4 thicker slices instead. The cut roll we tried was decent, but considering the price and what you get, we won't be coming back. There are plenty of other sushi places around that offer better value.
google avatar

Meg C.

Yelp
Incredibly kind and helpful staff, consistently delicious food, and a great spot to sit, relax, and enjoy. Their food is equally great when you get it to-go and if you dine-in. I will be coming back!
google avatar

Ahmed K.

Yelp
Service is amazing our server Shoup was extremely nice and informative. The food is excellent with fair portion:price. The coco milk udon and both rolls are 5/5. Will def come back or recommend this family owned restaurant.
google avatar

Pamela H.

Yelp
We are vegan and have missed sushi so badly! Went here on date night and enjoyed 2 specialty rolls, veggie tempura, and complimentary miso soup. Soup and tempura was so delicious and flavorful and the sushi was soooooo good. We will be coming back to try more vegan rolls and maybe some if the other vegan options. Thank you so much!
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Tama Sushi is where your taste buds find nirvana--vegan or not! The rolls are so fresh, I half expected them to introduce themselves. The ramen? A warm hug in a bowl. Bring family and friends, or just your appetite and stretchy pants. Either way, you'll leave in a sushi-induced bliss!
google avatar

Rinkal T.

Yelp
Horrible service. They close at 9pm. They come & start cleaning the tables at 9.15pm even though there is food on the table and we were still eating. Atleast let us finish eating. They keep saying our dishwasher is going home. Are you serious??? There is no consideration for customers finishing their food. All they care is they want to go home. Never coming back here because of the horrible service & no respect for their customers.

Omar P.

Yelp
The best sushi ever! Unparalleled, both food and service! The most friendly workers. Cozy little place.
google avatar

Curt H.

Yelp
Great fresh fish and gracious customer service The personable service adds to the calm and vibe of the eating experience Complimentary miso soups starts the experience This trip I had the Miso Ramen and 4 piece cut roll. Every dish has been outstanding
google avatar

Abbie N.

Yelp
Yummy rolls. I ordered the tuna nirvana, animal roll & Lucia roll. I loved all the rolls and I will definitely come back to eat again. I did take out and love all the packaging. They put the sauce on the side for the rolls so the rice doesn't get soggy, I love the details!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday afternoon after we found this place off Yelp and accidentally went into the place next door. They were cool about it. Apparently both places get mixed up often. I thought the place is nifty right off the bat because they have as their menu an entire side dedicated for vegan and the other regular. My son is a vegetarian and turns down sushi, but this would make it so everyone is happy. We ordered the black dragon roll, baked salmon roll (asked for it not to be spicy) and the hello kitty roll for a rice-less alternative. For drinks he got the green tea and I got Thai tea with soy milk. My issue with going healthy with drinks is that some people just aren't into drinks that taste, different. The Thai tea was good to me, but my teenage vegetarian would balk at how it isn't as sweet. The downside to being vegetarian is that a lot of these same places think you're doing it to be healthy. He's vegetarian by choice as a matter of his perception that it's cruel on animals but still enjoys a soda and all the bad things kids do so he'd balk the healthier versions of Thai tea here. I suppose that makes him a minority but I digress. That said, the cold green tea drink wasn't that good. But it was a warm day, so it was consumed without fuss. Our service was good. They said we'd get complimentary miso, which never came. Didn't even think about it until now as I write this review. Black dragon was standard fare I get at any sushi restaurant. The pleasant surprise was the hello kitty roll. I recommend that. All in all a cute little place I'd come back to

Dave W.

Yelp
Tama is the best! Great food. Awesome service. Even to-go is excellent when you open it.
